The class X and XII examinations of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has commenced from February 15, 2020 onwards. The board has increased the number of encrypted question papers from 19 to 50 this year.

The encrypted question papers were introduced in 2018 to decrease the cases of question paper leaks.

To ensure a smooth assessment, the board has integrated portals for detecting discrepancies and two new portals have also been developed for better communication between schools and regional CBSE offices. This year, photo tagging of custodian and centre superintendent has been added with the image of centre material for safe collection and delivery of question papers and answer sheets. The admit cards were also redesigned with QR codes and made available online. A total of 18,89,878 candidates in class X and 12,06,893 in class XII are appearing for boards this year. Of these, as many as 19 and six candidates are from the transgender category in class X and class XII, respectively.
