Lucknow : Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana and social welfare minister Asim Arun lauded the role of the nursing staff members and reminded them to sincerely fulfil their duties while acting as the backbone of the healthcare system. Presiding over a cultural event at Sangeet Natak Akademi, the duo addressed more than 500 nursing students who had gathered to participate in the oath-taking ceremony of Lucknow Metro Institute of Nursing and Paramedics. Actor Rajkummar Rao was also present for the ceremony and reminded everyone about the role of the health workers during the pandemic. While Mahana addressed the large group virtually, Arun distributed awards and felicitated meritorious students. 

“I want to tell you all that the demand for the nursing staff members is growing with time both domestically and internationally,” said Arun. Arun announced that a single-window online system has been created to provide the due scholarship amount to the eligible students.

 “All of you could check eligibility on the portal. The social welfare department assures you of its support right from the time you enrol in a college and get an admission letter,” said Arun. Mahana reminded the young students of auxiliary nursing and general nursing courses that they act as the primary caregivers. Founder and director of the institute, Dr Fahad Islahi said, “We are committed to keeping the knowledge and skills of our students updated and would keep on taking measures to encourage them to perform better on the field.”

உயிா்காக்கும் உன்னதமான சேவையாகிய இந்த அவசர ஊா்தி சேவையில் பல்லாயிரக்கணக்கான ஓட்டுநா்களும், உடன் பயணிக்கும் உதவியாளா்களும் நாள் முழுவதும் உழைத்து வருவது உண்மை.

கடந்த ஆண்டு செப்டம்பா் மாதத்தில் உத்தரப் பிரதேசத்தின் லக்னௌவிலுள்ள மருத்துவமனையில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டிருந்த நோயாளி டிஸ்சாா்ஜ் செய்யப்பட்டு, அவசர ஊா்தியில் வீட்டுக்கு அனுப்பப்பட்ட போது அதன் ஓட்டுநா் அந்த நோயாளியின் பிராணவாயு இணைப்பை அகற்றிக் கீழே தள்ளியதுடன், அவரது மனைவியிடமும் தவறாக நடந்துகொள்ள முற்பட்ட செய்தி பரபரப்பாகப் பேசப்பட்டது. கீழே தள்ளப்பட்ட நோயாளியும் பிராணவாயு இன்றி பரிதவித்து உயிரிழந்தாா்.

தாங்கள் கேட்கும் அதிகப்படியான தொகையைத் தர இயலாத நோயாளிகள் அல்லது அவா்களைச் சோ்ந்தவா்களை அவசர ஊா்தி ஓட்டுநா்களும், உதவியாளா்களும் மரியாதைக் குறைவாக நடத்திய சம்பவங்கள் உண்டு.

சில சமயங்களில், நோயாளிகள் அல்லது அவா்களைச் சோ்ந்தவா்களால் அவசர ஊா்தி ஊழியா்கள் தாக்கப்படுவதும் உண்டு. அவசர ஊா்தி ஊழியா்களால் ஏற்படும் பாதிப்புகள் ஒருபுறம் என்றால், சரியாகப் பராமரிக்கப்படாத அவசர ஊா்திகளால் பொதுமக்களுக்கு உண்டாகும் பாதிப்புகள் இன்னொரு புறம்.

கடந்த மாா்ச் மாதத்தில் மத்தியப் பிரதேச ம‘ாநிலம், போபாலில் உள்ள ஒரு மருத்துவமனைக்கு மூச்சுத் திணறல் காரணமாக அழைத்துவரப்பட்ட மூன்று வயதுப் பெண் குழந்தை, அவசர ஊா்தியில் வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த பிராணவாயு உருளையில் போதிய பிராணவாயு இல்லாத காரணத்தால் மருத்துவமனைக்குச் செல்லும் முன்பே உயிரிழக்க நோ்ந்தது.

சுமாா் நான்கு ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு, உத்தரப் பிரதேசத்திலுள்ள அலிகாா் நகர மருத்துவமனைக்கு அவசர ஊா்தியில் அழைத்துவரப்பட்ட இளைஞா் ஒருவரும் பிராணவாயு பற்றாக்குறையால் உயிரிழந்தாா்.

அவசர ஊா்தியில் போதிய பிராணவாயு உருளைகள் உள்ளனவா என்று சோதனை செய்ய வேண்டியவா் தமது கடமையைச் செய்யத் தவறியதால் இந்த உயிா்கள் பறிபோயின. அணையில் குன்னூரில் நிகழ்ந்த விபத்துகூட, அவசர ஊா்தியின் பின்பக்கக் கதவுகளின் தாழ்ப்பாள்களைச் சரிபாா்க்காமல் அலட்சியமாகச் செயல்பட்ட பராமரிப்புப் பணியாளா்களின் தவறினால் ஏற்பட்ட விளைவுதான் என்று கூறவேண்டும்.

நாடு முழுவதிலும் நாள்தோறும் லட்சக்கணக்கான நோயாளிகள் அவசர ஊா்தியில் பயணிக்கையில் அங்கொன்றும் இங்கொன்றுமாக நடக்கும் தவறுகளைப் பெரிதுபடுத்தலாமா என்று நம்மில் சிலா் கேட்கலாம்.

நோயாளிகளின் விலைமதிப்பற்ற உயிா்களைக் காப்பாற்றும் இடத்தில் இருக்கிற அவசர ஊா்திகளை இயக்கும் ஊழியா்களும் சரி, அவற்றை பழுது பாா்ப்பதுடன் அவற்றில் வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள உயிா்காக்கும் சாதனங்களைப் பராமரிக்கும் ஊழியா்களானாலும் சரி, எவ்விதச் சலனங்களுக்கும் உட்படாமல் இன்முகத்துடன் நோ்மையான முறையில் சேவையாற்றுவது அவசியம்.

மத்திய, மாநில அரசுகளும் இனி அவசர ஊா்தி சேவைகள் தொடா்பான புகாா்கள் எழாவண்ணம் அவற்றின் பராமரிப்பு, இயக்கம் ஆகியவை மட்டுமின்றி அவசர ஊா்திகளில் பணியமா்த்தப்படும் ஓட்டுநா் உள்ளிட்ட ஊழியா்களின் பின்புலம் குறித்தும் புதிய விதிமுறைகளை வகுப்பதுடன், அந்த விதிமுறைகள் சரிவர நடைமுறைப்படுத்தப்படுவதைக் கண்காணிக்க வேண்டிய தருணம் தற்போது வந்துவிட்டதாகவே தோன்றுகிறது.

Surat : A swarm of bees that decided to cluster on a SuratJaipur IndiGo flight, scheduled to depart at 4.40pm on Monday, delayed it by at least 50 minutes on Monday. The airline staff loading luggage on the flight first noticed the bees buzzing together on one side of the aircraft’s cargo compartment shutter, and quickly alerted the airline and airport staff. 

“We informed the airport’s fire team. They used a jet of water from a fire tender to remove the bees from the open shutter,” an airport official said. Even for the fire team this was their first such encounter, the official said. 

No passenger or worker was injured in the incident. Many passengers, already aboard the flight, captured on their phones the sight of bees swarming on the cargo compartment shutter. “We are unsure where the bees came from,” an airline official said. There are no known beehives on the airport premises, he said, adding, “Our teams, along with security experts, conducted a thorough inspection of the airport in March. No beehive was found at that time.”

Villupuram : The district administration constituted a four-member committee comprising doctors from Villupuram govt medical college and hospital in Mundiyampakkam to probe the allegations of a patient. The patient claimed that surgeons at the Villupuram govt general hospital performed surgery on his left leg instead of his right leg to correct two ligaments in the knee that were torn and damaged. 

The administration directed the committee to submit a report within two days. The patient, N Marimuthu, a private bus conductor from Periyathachur village near Vikravandi in Villupuram, complained of severe pain in his right knee. He visited Villupuram govt general hospital for treatment. The doctors diagnosed that two ligaments in his right knee were torn and damaged and informed him that surgery could correct the issue. 

A medical team led by orthopaedic surgeon Dr Saravanan performed a four-hour surgery on Marimuthu on July. When he was shifted to the post-operative ward, his wife was shocked to notice that his left leg was bandaged and realised that the surgeons performed the surgery on the wrong leg. 

Marimuthu lodged a complaint with the hospital authorities. Villupuram Joint Director (Health) P N Ramesh Babu said the panel headed by him, made inquiries with the surgeon, anaesthesiologist, theatre assistant, staff nurse who performed the surgery, and the chief medical officer of the hospital. 

“We did the inquiry in a systematic manner following protocol. All those involved in the surgery were questioned. We spoke to the patient’s wife for more information on their charges. We concluded the inquiry and sent the report to the director of medical services,” said Babu.

Chennai : Saveetha School of Law, Maadhyam International Council for Conflict Resolution, inaugurated the Maadhyam–SSL Mediation and Conflict Resolution Centre on July 5 at the Heritage Guild, SIMATS. The centre aims to promote non-adversarial dispute resolution and train students, legal professionals, and stakeholders in mediation. Senior advocate and Maadhyam president Amarjit Singh Chandhiok spoke on the growing role of mediation in India’s legal system. The initiative is expected to promote alternative dispute resolution practices and practical legal training.

Chennai : More than a week after Madras HC initiated suo motu proceedings for criminal contempt of court against advocate R Balasubramanian, the bar council prohibited him from practising law in courts and tribunals, pending disposal of disciplinary proceedings. Through a notification dated 7 July, the Bar Council said it received a letter from the high court registry regarding the initiation of suo motu proceedings against Balasubramanian of Arakkonam, Ranipet. 

The council perused the records and passed a resolution dated 4 July prohibiting Balasubramanian from practising as an advocate until disposal of disciplinary proceedings. The issue pertains to a plea moved by S Krishnaveni, M Markandan, and E Subramani seeking to transfer a civil suit pending with the Sholingur district munsif court to any other court in Chennai. 

During the hearing, the lawyer filed affidavit with scandalous and defamatory remarks against HC judges and district munsif. When the presiding judge, Justice P T Asha, questioned the derogatory contents in the affidavit, Balasubramanian bullied the court, prompting the judge to initiate contempt proceedings. Since they failed to appear, the court issued non-bailable warrants. After preventing police from producing the petitioners before court, the advocate threatened Justice Asha to recuse herself from the case. Justice Asha referred the issue to division bench to consider initiating criminal contempt of court. TNN
