Madras University convocation put off indefinetly

CHENNAI: The 159th convocation of Madras University, which was scheduled to be held on December 1, has been postponed indefinitely, an official communication on Tuesday evening stated. Administrative issues were cited as the reason.

The decision came even as students were lining up at the university offices to collect their tokens for the convocation. Professors said many students from abroad, who spent thousands of rupees to come to Chennai for collecting their certificates, have been left in the lurch.

The decision to postpone the convocation came after a meeting held by the office of the governor, who is also the chancellor of the university, with the registrar and the controller of examinations (CoE) on Monday evening.

The meeting was called after the university took the controversial decision to affix the signature of higher education secretary A Karthik on the degree and diploma certificates in place of that of the vice-chancellor. Karthik is the chairman of the VC convenor committee that is discharging the duties in the absence of the VC. The university has not had a VC since January when R Thandavan exited the position.

Sources said the governor's office asked the officials for an explanation why due procedures were not followed. A letter from the university was submitted to the governor's office on Tuesday intimating him about the postponement. The Professors Forum of Madras University had submitted a memorandum stating that the legal opinion given by the advocate general to affix the signature of the higher education secretary on the certificates was not ratified by the syndicate before announcing the convocation. The dissent note signed by seven syndicate members opposing this decision too wasn't added to the minutes, the letter said.

Professor SS Sundaram, general secretary of the forum, said this embarrassment for the university could have been avoided if due procedures were followed. "The syndicate meeting should take place every month, which is not happening. This has resulted into a major confusion for thousands of students as the postponement has come just two days before the event," he said.

Printing of Rs 500 notes doubles, but shortage sparks rumours

MUMBAI: Currency notes of the new Rs 500 denomination continues to be in short supply. Much of the new cash that banks are getting are in notes of Rs 2,000.

The continued cash shortage has led to rumours that the government has stalled printing because of glitches, but the Reserve Bank of Indiahas assured that the supply of Rs 500 notes is on. In fact, printing has been more than doubled.

"The absence of the Rs 500 note in the system is reducing the acceptability of the higher value Rs 2,000 note. Without the Rs 500 note, not to mention Rs 100, customers are not able to get change for the highest denomination note. But lower value notes are not circulating," said an official with a private bank. More notes of Rs 500 would also ease the pressure on ATMs.

Last week, there were several instances where the new Rs 500 notes were found to vary from one another. The difference in printing led to fears that some of them might be fakes. But the RBI clarified that some notes may have been released with printing defects, but they continue to be legal tender.

Prior to demonetisation, over 1,660 crore pieces of Rs 500 notes were in circulation, representing nearly Rs 8.3 lakh crore of total currency in circulation. Bankers say that now, less than Rs 2,000 crore in new Rs 500 notes has come in.

Sources say the currency presses owned by the government at Nashik and Dewas are printing Rs 500 while the RBI's currency presses in Salboni (West Bengal) and Mysuru are printing Rs 2,000 and Rs 100 notes. At the Currency Note Press at Nashik, the capacity has been more than doubled to this week 80 lakh pieces (Rs 400 crore) a day.

Adult son has no legal right to stay in parents' house, rules HC

NEW DELHI: An adult son has no legal right to stay in his parents' self-acquired property, the Delhi high court has ruled while upholding the wishes of an elderly couple who wanted their son and daughter-in-lawevicted from their house.

Justice Pratibha Rani said a person can reside in his parent's house only at their "mercy". The court specified that just because parents had allowed the son to live in their house when their relations were cordial did not mean they had to bear his "burden" throughout his life.

"Where the house is self-acquired by the parents, the son, whether married or unmarried, has no legal right to live there. He can live only at the mercy of his parents up to the time they allow it," said the order. The case had come to the high court after the son challenged the order of a trial court in favour of the parents.

The parents, both senior citizens, had told the lower court that both their sons and daughters-inlaw, who were living with them on the first and second floors respectively, had made their "life hell". The couple had filed police complaints against them and issued public notices in 2007 and 2012 disowning the children.

"Merely because the parents have allowed him to live in the house so long as his relations with them were cordial does not mean that they have to bear his burden throughout his life," the court observed in its ruling earlier this month.

The sons had refuted the allegations and claimed that they were coowners of the property as they had contributed towards its purchase and construction. However, the sons failed to produce proof that they invested in the parents' property.

In the order, Justice Rani noted that the sons were unable to prove that they were co-owners of the property , while the parents produced the relevant papers, such as the general power of attorney , agreement to sell, possession letter, affidavit, etc.

No cash for last rites, body taken to bank

NOIDA: A 62-year-old woman who died on Monday afternoon was yet to be cremated till Tuesday evening as her family members had no cash to perform the last rites. They alleged that the bank they went to refused to give them money saying they have no cash.

The family members of the woman, Phoolmati Devi, then protested with her body in front of the bank. Later on Tuesday, the bank delivered the money but the family could not perform the last rites in the evening owing to religious belief. The family members of the dead woman said they had low balance in their account, and visited the bank on Monday and Tuesday but returned empty-handed.

Phoolmati Devi lived with her family members in Sector 9. Her husband, Munnilal, is a vegetable seller and son, Yamuna Prasad, works as a tailor. The family had shifted to Noida five years ago from Basti.

Munnilal said his wife was suffering from cancer for the last six months. "We took her to ESIC Hospital and then to a private hospital in Ghaziabad. She did not respond to medical treatment and died on Monday afternoon. We visited the Bank of India branch in Sector 9 on both days but the bank officials did not allow withdrawal," he said.

Prasad said he had Rs 16,000 in his account but was unable to withdraw the money. "We had no cash in hand. We did not know how to perform the cremation. This was a complete failure of the system," Prasad said. The family members started protesting at the spot demanding immediate withdrawal of money.

On being informed, the police reached the spot and Dilip Singh Bisht, sub-inspector in charge of the Jhundpura police post, gave Rs 2,000 of his own accord to the family for the cremation. As the news spread, a local politician also reached the spot and offered Rs 10,000 to the family. However the family members persisted in their demand for permission to withdraw their own money.

A team of police officers intervened and spoke to the bank's branch manager, Shishupal, who said the bank had no cash available on Tuesday. "The relatives of the dead woman came for cash withdrawal in the morning. Since we had no cash, we could not give it to them. In the afternoon, we managed to give them Rs 15,000 from their account," he said.

Prasad said it was too late when the family finally received the money. "They gave money in the afternoon. For cremation we need to buy wood and other items. We cannot perform the cremation after sunset. We will perform the last rites on Wednesday morning," he said.

District magistrate N P Singh said he has ordered an inquiry into the matter. "If the bank officials deliberately refused cash withdrawal, we will take action," he said.

Tamil Nadu medical students left in lurch over delay in certificates

CHENNAI: Even as the Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University has announced convocation of MBBS students on December 3, students who passed out of Sri Muthukumaran Medical College are left in the lurch as the university is yet to issue them the provisional-II certificate.

This does not just mean the students could not enroll themselves with the state medical council, but they also can not get admission into PG courses.

The problem has it roots in the Medical Council of India’s bar on the institution to admit students after it found that the college did not meet the standards. But after a court battle, the students got a favourable order. Then, they also received provisional-I certificate from the university and also obtained temporary registration with Tamil Nadu Medical Council (TNMC) and completed their CRRI last year.

Now, to get registration in TNMC, the students need provisional-II certificate from the university. But it has now said that the provisional-II certificate can be issued only on the basis of a written order from the Medical Council of India.

“Ministry of health and family welfare and Executive Committe of MCI have recognised 2010 batch of our college. MCI in its executive committee meeting passed the order for recognition. But, the university is waiting for the order copy, which will take a few months,” said S Manoj Prabhakar, one of the affected students.

“We don’t understand why the university is sticking to the formal order. It has provided recognition without those orders to many colleges, even to a Government Medical College in the past. The MCI has filed in the court that it granted recognition for 2010 batch, and we also confirmed it from the MCI through official communication,” said a TNMC source.

“A few of our batchmates secured good ranks in the PG entrance exam conducted by All India Medical Sciences(AIIMS) and Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh this month. But could not participate in the counselling of AIIMS,which is scheduled for the second week of December and also in PGIMER counseling to be held this month end. Without provisional certificate II, we could not register our course. We are also unemployed for eight months now,” said Manoj Prabhakar.

The students also said after completion of one year Compulsory Rotatory Resident Internship (CRRI), they are eligible to get the degree. But the university is not ready to award them the degree at its 28th convocation to be held on December 3.

Speaking to Express, T Balasubramanian, Registrar of the university, said there was no direct communication from MCI to the university. “MCI should recognise the institution. We have not received any orders on it. We cannot take advocate’s version, who says that MCI had granted permission and submitted so in the court. We also have written three letters to MCI asking if its true, but we didn’t receive any response from them. Without recognition, nothing can be done, we need to get it on paper.”

சமீபத்தில் அலுலகத்தில் இருந்து வீட்டுக்கு செல்வதற்காக ஒரு உபேர் டாக்ஸியை புக் செய்தேன். டிரைவர் மிகவும் பணிவாகவும் மரியாதையுடனும் நடந்து கொண்டார். அது ஒரு ஷேர் டாக்ஸி. என்னுடன் 30 வயதை நெருங்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கும் பெண் ஒருவரும் பயணித்தார். காருக்குள் ஏறியதுமே, அந்த பெண் டிரைவிடம் மிகவும் மோசமாக நடந்து கொண்டார். டிராப் செய்வது குறித்து டிரைவரிடம் கடுமையான விவாதத்தில் ஈடுபட்டார். டிரைவர் பணிவாக பதில் அளித்தும் அவர் கவனத்தில் கொள்ளவில்லை. 'ஆப்பில் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளபடி உங்களை டிராப் செய்துவிடுகிறேன் ' என டிரைவர் கூனார். ஆனால், அந்த பெண்ணின் கோபம் அடங்கவில்லை.

அவரது கோபம் அதிகமாகிக் கொண்டே போனது. மூன்றாம் தர வார்த்தைகளை உபயோகித்து டிரைவரைத் திட்டடியதோடு, 'அடித்து துவைத்து விடுவேன்' எனக் கொந்தளித்தார். டிரைவரின் நிலையோ பரிதாபமாக இருந்தது. அவர் எவ்வளவோ சமாதானப்படுத்தியும் அநத பெண் சமாதானமாகவில்லை. நானும் சமாதானப்படுத்திப் பார்த்தேன். 'இருவருக்கும் மிஸ் கம்யூனிகேசனால்தான் பிரச்னை. போதும் விடுங்கள்' என்றேன். அவர் காதில் ஏற்றிக் கொள்ளவேயில்லை. ஒரு கட்டத்தில் கோபத்தின் உச்சிக்குச் சென்ற அந்த பெண், 'போலீஸ் நிலையத்துக்கு வண்டியை விடு, போலீசில் புகார் அளிக்க வேண்டும்' என்றார். மேலும் என்னிடமும்' நீங்களும் எனக்கு ஆதரவாக இருக்க வேண்டும்' என்றார் .நான் உடனடியாக மறுத்தேன். தொடர்ந்து என்னையும் திட்டத் தொடங்கினார்.

டிரைவர் பரிதாபமாக என்னை நோக்கினார். பின்னர், 'என்னை மன்னித்து விடுங்கள். நீங்கள் வேறு ஓரு காரை பிடித்து வீட்டுக்குச் செல்லுங்கள்' என்று என்னிடம் கூறினார். இருவருக்குமிடையே நடந்த வாக்குவாதத்தைப் பார்த்து 20க்கும் மேற்பட்டவர்கள் அங்கு கூடினர். இந்த சமூகம் பெண்ணுக்கு ஆதரவாகத்தானே பேசும். அந்த பெண்ணுக்கு ஆதரவாக டிரைவரை அனைவரும் திட்டினர். இதற்கிடையே இருவருமே அவசர போலீசை கூப்பிட, அந்த இடத்துக்கு இரு பெண் போலீசும் வந்தனர். பெண் போலீசாரிடம், டிரைவரின் நிலையை நான் விளக்கினேன் டிரைவர் பக்கம் தவறு இல்லை எனக் கூறினேன். 'போலீஸ் நிலையத்தில் அவருக்கு எதிராக நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்பட்டால், என்னைக் கூப்பிடுங்கள் நான் டிரைவருக்கு ஆதரவாக வருவேன்' என அவர்களிடம் தெரிவித்தேன். அத்துடன் எனது செல்போன் எண்ணையும் கொடுத்தேன்.

மேலும் டிரைவருக்கு ஆதரவாக வாக்குமூலம் தரவும் நான் தயாராக இருப்பதாக தெரிவித்தேன். அப்போது, என்னிடம் வந்த பெண் போலீஸ், ''மேடம் நீங்களும் தயவு செய்து போலீஸ் நிலையம் வாருங்கள் அதுதான் நல்லது ''என எனக் கேட்டுக் கொண்டார். அதற்கு முன்பு வரை நான் போலீஸ் நிலையம் சென்றது இல்லை. அப்போதே இரவு மணி 9 மணியாகி விட்டது. ஆனாலும், டாக்ஸி டிரைவரை அப்படியே விட்டு விட்டு போக என் மனம் இடம் கொடுக்கவில்லை. நானும் போலீஸ் நிலையத்துக்கு அவர்களுடன் சென்றேன்.

போலீஸ் நிலையத்தில், அந்த பெண் , டிரைவர் மீது எப்ஐஆர் பதிவு செய்ய வேண்டும் என பிடிவாதம் பிடித்தார். நான் போலீசாரிடம் உண்மையை விளக்கினேன். நிலைமையை புரிந்து கொண்ட போலீசாருக்கு டிரைவர் மீது இரக்கம் பிறந்தது. அந்த பெண்ணை போலீஸ் நிலையத்தை விட்டு வெளியேற சொன்னார்கள். இரவு 11 மணி வரை அவர் போலீஸ் நிலையத்தை விட்டு வெளியேறவில்லை. 'டிரைவர் தனது காலைத் தொட்டு மன்னிப்புக் கேட்டால்தான், போலீஸ் நிலையத்தை விட்டு வெளியே போவேன்' என்று அடம் பிடித்துக் கொண்டு அங்கேயே இருந்தார்.

பெண்ணின் நடவடிக்கையால் கோபமடைந்த போலீசார், டிரைவரை தனி அறைக்கு கொண்டு சென்றனர். தனி அறையில் வைத்து டிரைவரை அடிப்பது போல வெளியே சத்தம் கேட்டது. உடனே நான் அங்கே ஓடினேன். அங்கே சென்று பார்த்த போதுதான் போலீசாரின் செயல் என் மனதை நெகிழ வைத்துவிட்டது. போலீசார் வெறும் தரையில் போட்டு பெலட்டை அடித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தனர், டிரைவரோ சிரித்தபடி வலியால் துடிப்பது போல கத்திக் கொண்டிருந்தார்.

அறைககுள் சென்ற என்னிடம், டிரைவருக்கு ஆதரவாக வந்ததற்காக போலீசார் நன்றி தெரிவித்தனர். 'நீங்கள் உண்மையை விளக்கவில்லை என்றால் கேஸ் போட்டிருப்போம். அவரது வாழ்க்கை பாழாகிப் போயிருக்கும்' என்றனர். போலீசார் டிரைவரை அடித்ததாக நினைத்து சமாதானமடைந்த அந்த பெண்ணும் போலீஸ் நிலையத்தில் இருந்து வெளியேறினார். நாங்கள் இருவரும் போலீசாருக்கு நன்றி தெரிவித்து விட்டு வீட்டுக்கு புறப்பட்டோம். நான் வீடு போய் சேர்ந்த பிறகு அந்த டிரைவருக்கு போன் செய்தேன். அவரது குரலில் ஒரு பாதுகாப்பு தெரிந்தது.

பொக்கிஷங்களை பாதுகாக்கும் வீடு

அப்போது குமரி மாவட்டம் திருவிதாங்கூர் சமஸ்தானத்துடன் இருந்தது. அப்போது சித்திரை திருநாள் மகாராஜா மன்னராக இருந்தார். சமஸ்தானத்தில் உள்ள சில பகுதிகள் புயலால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டபோது நாடகம் நடித்து அந்த பணத்தை சமஸ்தானத்துக்கு கொடுத்தார் என்.எஸ்.கே. நாடகத்தில் கலைவாணரின் நடிப்பும், அத்துடன் அவரது சமூக சேவையும் பிடித்துப்போக அவரோடு சேர்ந்து புகைப்படம் எடுத்துக்கொண்டார். இன்றும் இந்த வீட்டில் அந்த படம் பொக்கிஷமாய் உள்ளது. தியாகராஜ பாகவதர்கூட இந்த வீட்டில் வந்து பாடல் பாடியுள்ளார் என்கிறார்கள். வீட்டின் மொட்டை மாடியில் அழகாக அமைக்கப்பட்ட கோபுர கூண்டிலில் கலைவாணர் அமர்ந்திருப்பாராம்.

ஒருமுறை, என்.எஸ்.கிருஷ்ணனை வீட்டில் ஒரு நிறைமாத கர்ப்பிணி ஒருவர் சந்தித்து தனது வறுமையைச் சொல்லி உதவி கேட்டுள்ளார். அந்தப் பெண் மீது இரக்கப்பட்டு என்.எஸ்.கிருஷ்ணன் 100 ரூபாய் வழங்கினார். அந்தக் காலத்தில் அது பெரிய தொகை. நன்றி தெரிவித்துவிட்டு சிறிது தூரம் சென்ற அந்தப் பெண்ணை என்.எஸ்.கிருஷ்ணன் திரும்ப அழைத்தார்.வந்த பெண்ணிடம் மீண்டும் ஒரு 100 ரூபாய் கொடுத்தார்.

புரியாமல் விழித்த பெண்ணிடம் என்.எஸ்.கே. சிரித்தபடியே சொன்னார். ‘‘முதலில் கொடுத்த 100 ரூபாய் உன் மேல் இரக்கப்பட்டு கொடுத்தது. இப்போது கொடுத்தது உன்னுடைய நடிப்புத் திறமைக்காக. தயவு செய்து உன் வயிற்றில் கட்டியிருக்கும் துணியை எடுத்து விடம்மா..’’ என்றாராம். தன்னை ஏமாற்றி பணம் வாங்கிய பெண்ணிடம் கூட கோபம் கொள்ளாமல் அந்த பெண்ணின் தவறை தனக்கே உரிய நகைச்சுவையோடு சுட்டிக்காட்டியிருக்கிறார் கலைவாணர்.

குற்றவாளிகளுக்குப் பிரபல வழக்கறிஞர்கள் ராஜாஜி, வி.டி. ரங்கசாமி ஐயங்கார், கோவிந் சாமிநாதன், கே.எம்.முன்ஷி, பி.டி.சுந்தர்ராஜன், சீனிவாச கோபால் மற்றும் பிரேடல் ஆஜரானார்கள். நீதிபதி மாக்கெட் தலைமையில் வழக்கு விசாரணை நடைபெற்றது. வழக்கு நடந்த சமயத்தில் ஜூரி முறை இருந்தது. ஜூரி என்றால் நடுவர் குழு. பொது மக்களிலிருந்து 12 நபர்களைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்து இந்த நடுவர் குழு அமைக்கப்படும். வழக்கு விசாரணையில் பங்கு கொண்ட நடுவர் குழு தான், குற்றம்சாட்டப்பட்டவர் குற்றவாளியா அல்லது நிரபராதியா என்று முடிவெடுக்கும். அந்த முடிவை வைத்து நீதிபதி தகுந்த தீர்ப்பை அளிப்பார். இந்த முறை இப்போது நடைமுறையில் இல்லை.

வழக்கு விசாரணையில் பங்கு கொண்ட நடுவர் குழு விசாரணையின் இறுதியில் தியாகராஜ பாகவதர், என்.எஸ்.கிருஷ்ணன் ஆகியோர் குற்றவாளிகள் என்று யாரும் எதிர்பார்க்காத தீர்ப்பை வெளியிட்டது. ஆனால் ஸ்ரீராமுலு குற்றம் ஏதும் இழைக்கவில்லை என்ற முடிவையும் நீதிபதிக்குத் தெரிவித்தது. நடுவர் குழுவின் முடிவின்படி நீதிபதி, தியாகராஜ பாகவதருக்கும், என்.எஸ்.கிருஷ்ணனுக்கும் ஆயுள் முழுவதும் நாடு கடத்தப்படவேண்டும் என்று தீர்ப்பு வழங்கினார். (இந்தியா சுதந்தரம் அடைந்த பிறகு, 1955 ஆம் ஆண்டு சட்ட திருத்தம் கொண்டுவரப்பட்டு, இந்திய தண்டனைச் சட்டத்திலிருந்து நாடு கடத்தும் தண்டனை நீக்கப்பட்டது).

மீண்டு வந்த என்.எஸ்.கே.

இந்தத் தீர்ப்பை எதிர்த்து தியாகராஜ பாகவதர், என்.எஸ். கிருஷ்ணன் இருவரும் சென்னை உயர் நீதிமன்றத்தில் மேல் முறையீடு செய்தனர். மேல் முறையீட்டிலும் அவர்களுக்குச் சாதகமான தீர்ப்பு கிடைக்கவில்லை. சென்னை உயர் நீதிமன்றம் கீழ் நீதிமன்றத்தின் தீர்ப்பை உறுதி செய்தது. உயர் நீதிமன்றத் தீர்ப்பை எதிர்த்து பாகவதரும் கலைவாணரும் ப்ரிவி கவுன்சிலில் இரண்டாவது மேல்முறையீடு செய்தார்கள். ப்ரிவி கவுன்சில் லண்டனில் இருக்கிறது. இந்தியாவில் உச்ச நீதிமன்றம் நிறுவப்படாத நிலையில், இந்திய உயர் நீதிமன்றங்களுடைய தீர்ப்பை எதிர்த்து மேல்முறையீடு செய்ய விரும்பியவர்கள் லண்டனில் உள்ள ப்ரிவி கவுன்சிலைத்தான் அணுக வேண்டியிருந்தது. இந்தியா சுதந்தரம் அடைந்த பின்னர் உச்ச நீதிமன்றம் தோற்றுவிக்கப்பட்டு, ப்ரிவி கவுன்சிலில் மேல்முறையீடு செய்வது நிறுத்தப்பட்டது.

பாகவதர் மற்றும் கலைவாணருடய மேல்முறையீட்டை விசாரித்த ப்ரிவி கவுன்சில், கீழ் நீதிமன்றத்தில் வழக்கு விசாரணை சரியாக நடத்தப்படவில்லை என்று கூறி, வழக்கை மறுவிசாரணை செய்யுமாறு கீழ் நீதிமன்றத்துக்கு உத்தரவிட்டது.

இந்தியாவில் மறுபடியும் இந்த வழக்கு விசாரிக்கப்பட்டு, இறுதியாக சென்னை உயர் நீதிமன்றத்தில் நீதிபதிகள் ஹேப்பல் மற்றும் ஷஹாபுதின் அடங்கிய பெஞ்ச் (Division Bench) முன்பு விசாரணைக்கு வந்தது. (இதில் நீதிபதி ஷஹாபுதின் பின்னாளில் இந்தியப் பிரிவினையின் போது பாகிஸ்தான் சென்றுவிட்டார். அங்கே அவர் பதவி உயர்வு அடைந்து இறுதியாக பாகிஸ்தானின் உச்ச நீதிமன்றத்தின் தலைமை நீதிபதியாக பொறுப்பு வகித்தார்). இம்முறை குற்றவாளிகளுக்காக வாதாடியவர் பிரபல வழக்கறிஞர் எத்திராஜ். வழக்கை விசாரித்த புதிய பெஞ்ச், தியாகராஜ பாகவதரையும் என்.எஸ்.கிருஷ்ணனையும் குற்றமற்றவர்கள் என்று கூறி விடுதலை செய்ய உத்தரவிட்டது.

பாழடைந்து நிற்கும் 'மதுர பவனம்'

இந்த வழக்கு முடியும்வரை பாகவதரும் கலைவாணரும் சுமார் இரண்டரை ஆண்டுகள் சிறையிலிருந்தனர். லட்சுமிகாந்தன் கொலை வழக்கிலிருந்து விடுபடுவதற்கு பாகவதரும் கலைவாணரும் தாங்கள் சம்பாதித்த அனைத்து சொத்துகளையும் செலவு செய்திருந்தனர். கலைவாணர் விடுதலையானபிறகு பல படங்களில் நடித்தார். புதிய நாடகக் கலைஞர்களை உருவாக்கினார். பல கலைஞர்களைத் திரைப்படத்துறைக்கு அறிமுகம் செய்து வைத்தார். திராவிட இயக்கத்தில் தன்னை ஈடுபடுத்திக்கொண்டார். 1957-ம் ஆண்டு தன்னுடைய 49 வயதில் கலைவாணர் காலமானார்.

கலைவாணர் .என்.எஸ். கிருஷ்ணன் அருமை பெருமையோடு ஆசையாகக் கட்டிய "மதுரபவனம்" நாகர்கோவில் ஏலத்திற்க்கு வந்த செய்தி கேள்வி பட்டதும் ஏராளமான போட்டி ஏற்பட்டது. செய்தி எம்.ஜி.ஆர் காதுக்கு எட்டியதும் துடிதுடித்துப் போய் கலைவாணர் எப்படி எவ்வாறு வாழ்ந்தவர் அள்ளிக் கொடுத்த வள்ளல் அவர் வீடு ஏலத்திற்க்கு வருவதா? அப்படி வந்தால் அவரது குடும்பத்தினர் எல்லோரும் வீட்டை வீட்டு வெளியேறி நடுத்தெருவுக்கு வந்து விடுவார்களே என பதறினார். ஆர்.எம்.வீரப்பன் மூலம் பணம் கட்டி வீட்டை மீட்டு அதன் குடும்பத்தாரிடமே ஒப்படைத்தார்.

தமிழகத்தின் கடைக்கோடி பகுதியான கன்னியாகுமரி மாவட்டம் நாகர்கோவில் ஒழுகினசேரி பகுதியில் பிறந்து நாடறிந்த திரைப்பட கலைஞர், சிரிப்பு நடிகர் என்.எஸ்.கிருஷ்ணனின் வீடுதான் இது. இன்றும் அப்பகுதிவாசிகளின் அடையாள சின்னமாய் மாறி நிற்கும் கலைவாணர் என்.எஸ்.கிருஷ்ணனின் வீட்டில் இப்போது அவரது வாரிசுகள் வாழ்ந்து வருகின்றனர்.
