அமைச்சர் விஜயபாஸ்கர் வீட்டில் சோதனை நடந்தபோது கார் ஓட்டுநர் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு ஓடிய ஆவணங்கள் என்ன? - வருமான வரித்துறையினர் தீவிர விசாரணை

அமைச்சர் விஜயபாஸ்கர் வீட்டில் வருமான வரித்துறையினர் நடத்திய சோதனையின்போது, கார் ஓட்டுநர் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு ஓடிய ஆவணங்கள் குறித்து தீவிர விசாரணை நடந்து வருகிறது. 

சென்னை ஆர்.கே.நகரில் இடைத்தேர்தல் நடைபெற இருந்ததையொட்டி வாக்காளர் களுக்கு சிலர் பணம் கொடுத்தனர். அவர்களை போலீஸார் கைது செய்து விசாரித்தபோது, தமிழக சுகாதாரத்துறை அமைச்சர் விஜயபாஸ்கரின் பெயரை தெரிவித் துள்ளனர். அதைத்தொடர்ந்து கடந்த 7-ம் தேதி அமைச்சர் விஜயபாஸ்கரின் வீட்டில் வருமான வரித்துறை அதிகாரிகள் சோதனை நடத்தினர். அப்போது மத்திய போலீஸாரின் பாதுகாப்பையும் மீறி தமிழக அரசின் டெல்லி சிறப்பு பிரதிநிதி தளவாய் சுந்தரம் மற்றும் சில அமைச்சர்கள் விஜயபாஸ்கரின் வீட்டுக்குள் புகுந்தனர். அவர்கள் வருமான வரித்துறையினரின் சோதனைக்கு இடையூறு செய்ததாக கூறப்படுகிறது. 

இந்த இடைவெளியை பயன் படுத்தி, தளவாய் சுந்தரம் அங் கிருந்த முக்கிய ஆவணங்களை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு வெளியே வந் தார். அந்த ஆவணத்தை அங் கிருந்த ஒருவரிடம் கொடுத்தார். அதை பாதுகாப்பு படையினர் பார்த்துவிட்டனர். அவரிடம் இருந்து வாங்குவதற்குள், அருகேயிருந்த அமைச்சர் விஜயபாஸ்கரின் கார் ஓட்டுநர் உதயகுமார்(30), அந்த ஆவணத்தை அவரிடம் இருந்து பிடுங்கிக்கொண்டு வெளியே ஓட ஆரம்பித்தார்.

அவரை பாதுகாப்பு படை வீரர்கள் துரத்திச் சென்றனர். ஆனால், கையில் வைத்திருந்த ஆவணத்தை அவர் மதில் சுவருக்கு வெளியே வீசி எறிந்தார். வெளியில் இருந்த விஜயபாஸ்கரின் ஆதரவாளர் ஒருவர், அந்த ஆவணத்தை எடுத்துக் கொண்டு ஓடிவிட்டார். அவரை மத்திய போலீ ஸாரால் பிடிக்க முடியவில்லை. 

இதனால், ஆவணத்தை வெளியே வீசிய உதயகுமாரை மத்திய போலீஸார் அடித்ததாக கூறப்படுகிறது. கார் ஓட்டுநர் உதயகுமாரிடம் வருமான வரித் துறையினர் நடத்திய விசாரணை யில், அவர் புதுக்கோட்டை மாவட்டம் இலுப்பூர் பகுதியை சேர்ந்த தேவராஜ் என்பவரின் மகன் என்பது தெரிந்தது. இவர் கடந்த 3 ஆண்டுகளாக அமைச்சர் விஜயபாஸ்கரிடம் கார் ஓட்டுநராக இருக்கிறார். 

அமைச்சரின் கார் ஓட்டுநரை தாக்கியதாக வருமான வரித்துறை அதிகாரிகள் மற்றும் மத்திய போலீ ஸார் மீது அபிராமபுரம் காவல் நிலையத்தில் புகார் கொடுக்கப்பட் டுள்ளது. அமைச்சர் விஜயபாஸ் கரின் ஆதரவாளரான முரளி என்ப வர் இந்த புகாரை கொடுத்துள்ளார். புகாரின்பேரில் அமைச்சர் விஜய பாஸ்கர் வீட்டில் உள்ள கண் காணிப்பு கேமராவை போலீஸார் ஆய்வு செய்து வருகின்றனர். 

நேற்று முன்தினம் அமைச்சர் விஜயபாஸ்கரிடம் வருமான வரித் துறை அதிகாரிகள் 4 மணி நேரம் விசாரணை நடத்தினர். அப்போது கார் ஓட்டுநர் மூலம் மறைக்கப்பட்ட ஆவணம் குறித்து துருவி துருவி விசாரணை நடத்தியுள்ளனர்.

P. Balaji, professor and head of the Department of Minimal Access Surgery at the Madras Medical College, has refuted “baseless and false news” carried by certain sections of the media regarding alleged payments made to him by the State Health Minister.

In a statement, he pointed to reports that said Health Minister C. Vijaya Baskar had paid him Rs. 5 lakh through his personal assistant, which he allegedly used to settle hotel bills.
“I would like to refute the baseless and false news. I affirm that I have not received any money as fee or otherwise, as alleged,” Dr. Balaji’s statement read.

Deemed varsities should pay bonus’

Tribunal rules varsities are profit-making institutions

Noting that ‘deemed to be universities’ cannot be considered as a non-profit making institution for the purpose of exempting them from paying bonus to their employees, the Industrial Disputes Tribunal, Chennai, has directed Sathyabama University, Chennai, to pay bonus to the drivers and technicians employed in the institution as per the provisions of the Motor Transport Employees Act.
The President of the tribunal A. Kanthakumar passed the order on a plea moved by Pudhiya Jananayaga Vagana Ottunargal Matturm Techniciangal Union.


According to the petitioner, its members have been working in the transport department of the university continuously for several years, and hence, they are entitled for bonus every year as per the Motor Transport Employees Act.

The petitioner added that the university is collecting fee for the transport services provided to its students and teachers and are making huge profit; hence, they are liable to pay bonus to the employees.

Minority institution
Opposing the contention, the university submitted that it is a minority non-profit making institution and is exempted from Acts such as the Motor Transport Employees Act.
“The Payment of Bonus Act, 1965, applies only to factory and other establishments in which 20 or more persons are employed. The Act exempts universities and educational institutions from the provisions of the Act,” the management said.

Refusing to concur with the submissions, the Industrial Disputes Tribunal made it clear that the universities are profit-making institutions and such exemptions cannot be provided to them.

Cancellation of byelection clears the decks for distribution

With the cancellation of the byelection to the R.K. Nagar assembly constituency, the Civil Supplies department is likely to begin issuing smart cards shortly to beneficiaries of the public distribution system (PDS) belonging to the Chennai district.

As per the original plan, the distribution of smart cards was to commence after April 17, by which time, the poll process would have ended.

This formed the basis for the schedule of   printing of the cards district-wise. Chennai was to be covered later. But, as the model code has been lifted following the cancellation of the byelection, officials will have to start covering the city too, possibly by early next week, a senior official says.
Totally, there are 20.1 lakh cards in Chennai with 83.5 lakh beneficiaries. For approximately 59.5 lakh beneficiaries, the linking of Aadhaar numbers has been done. Mobile phone numbers for around 17.7 lakh cards have been registered.

The official points out that the Central government has fixed the deadline of June 30 for the linking of Aadhaar numbers with PDS beneficiaries. As far as the State government is concerned, entitlements will not be denied to any eligible PDS beneficiary, despite not having an Aadhaar number.
“However, our plan is to see to it that all the eligible beneficiaries are provided with Aadhaar numbers. In about 1.3 lakh cards in Chennai, not even one beneficiary listed in these cards has an Aadhaar number. As we regard this number as small, we are toying with the idea of conducting a special drive for all those beneficiaries who do not have Aadhaar numbers,” the official says.
Explaining the procedure for getting smart cards, the official says that the head of family would receive a message on his or her registered mobile number, besides a one-time password. By providing this detail to the respective PDS shop, the person can get the smart card. Any member of his or her family can also receive the card on the presentation of the required information.

No surrender of cards
There is no need to surrender conventional cards to officials of the shops.
Each card would display in Tamil the names of those members of the family concerned whose Aadhaar numbers have been linked.

The front portion of the card would carry the name of the head of family. In respect of a priority household card (akin to the earlier Below Poverty Line cards), the oldest woman member has been designated as the head of family and this is to fulfill the requirements of the National Food Security Act.

Man takes 225 sleeping pills with lover, dies

A couple reportedly consumed 225 sleeping pills in a bid to commit suicide at a private resort in Mamallapuram on Monday .

 

Doctors at Government Hospital, Mamallapuram, pronounced the 30-year-old man dead on arrival. The woman survived.

Policemen rescued her.They admitted her to Government General Hospital, Chengalpet, where doctors said she was in a serious condition but is recovering.
The Mamallapuram police retrieved a suicide note from the room in which the couple stayed. The note stated that they had decided to kill themselves because the woman's parents objected to their marriage. It said they had consumed 225 sleeping pills.

Employees at the resort grew suspicious when the couple remained indoors after arriving on Sunday morning and did not step out. When they knocked on the door on Monday afternoon, the woman, I Chitra, 23, a resident of Perambur, fought off stupor to open the door. Before losing consciousness, Chitra revealed that she and her boyfriend had attempted suicide.
The employees informed the local police and they hurried to the spot. A police officer identified the man as D Sivagurunathan, 30, a resident of Sholinganallur. Police informed the families of the couple about what had happened.

“Sivagurunathan and Chitra worked at a private security firm in T Nagar in Chennai,“ the officer said.“They had been in a relationship for three years.“
Chitra recently informed her parents that she intended to marry Sivagurunathan. They took his horoscope to an astrologer.

Chitra's parents refused to allow her to marry Sivagurunathan after the astro loger said their horoscopes did not match. They started looking for a bridegroom for their daughter.
“Sivagurunathan and Chitra travelled to Mamallapuram on Sunday and took a room in a resort,“ the officer said. “They appear to have discussed the situation and decided to commit suicide.They stayed up late into the night before consuming the pills on Monday morning.“

நீதிபதிகள் ஏ.செல்வம், என்.ஆதிநாதன் கொண்ட அமர்வு,'மனுதாரர் கோரும் நிவாரணத்தை வழங்குமாறு அரசுக்கு, இந்நீதிமன்றம் உத்தரவிட முடியாது. மனுவை தள்ளுபடி செய்கிறோம்,' என உத்தரவிட்டது.
