Community certificates for BC, MBC in 48 hours

CHENNAI: The State government on Monday declared a new hassle-free scheme to provide community certificate to applicants, particularly students, within 48 hours of submitting applications online.

Minister R B Udhayakumar told the Assembly that students belonging to BC and MBC could avail themselves of the facility, provided one of their family members has the certificate got through e-service centres.

“In the first phase of the scheme, applicants belonging to Backward and Most Backward Class can obtain community certificate within 48-hours. They needed to submit evidence showing that anyone of their family members had already received the same certificate online at the e-service centres,” he said. Later, the facility would be extended to other communities as well. 

A service charge of Rs 250 would be collected for giving away the certificate within 48 hours.

Udhayakumar explained that the new scheme for fast distribution of certificates would help the students in a big way.

He informed that as many as 4.22 lakh certificates were given away to students in their respective institutions during 2016-17.The government also decided to include 15 types of services, including certificates for agricultural income, small/medium farmer, inter-caste marriage, widow, unemployed, migration, heir, residence, pawn broker licence and money lenders licence, in the online service list.

Iranians have topped the list of foreign diaspora in Coimbatore. As per statistics provided by the City Police, 75 Iranians are residing in Coimbatore as on May 31, of which 73 are students pursuing various courses in educational institutions here.

Sudan and Sri Lanka have come in the second and third place with 67 and 29 expats living in the industrial city.

Of the total number of 352 expatriates residing in Coimbatore, 251 are students who have come to the city for higher education ranging from medial courses to agricultural programmes.
The list also shows the potential of the city as an employer of foreigners. It shows that 46 foreigners are employed in Coimbatore with Indonesia and Germany at the top positions with 15 and 10 employees at various establishments here. There are also five from Korea employed here.
Though Coimbatore is known for the presence of industries, a very minuscule number of foreigners are reportedly visiting the city for business purposes. Similar is the case of people coming for treatment at hospitals in Coimbatore. As on May 31, only seven people were residing in city on medial visa. According to officials, patients from African countries and Middle-East primarily choose city for medical procedures that are cheaper here.

Though there was an upsurge in the number of students from African continent in the past, their presence is slowly shrinking.

Next to Sudanese residing in Coimbatore, 65 of them students, 14 each students from Rwanda and Comoros Islands are studying in city colleges.

According to officials, students from Rwanda had significant presence in Coimbatore which slowly dwindled following changes in programmes offered in some colleges and scholarships.

P. Nandagopal, assistant manager of intelligence services handling foreigners registration with City Police, said that there was a considerable decrease in the inflow of foreign students in 2015 and 2016.
“Foreign students currently residing in Coimbatore are primarily those joined various programmes in the year 2014. Many of them are expected to complete courses this year,” said Mr. Nandagopal.
He added that hotels that have foreign guests are updating the information about them through online services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or by intimating the respective police stations.

புதுடெல்லி: நாடு முழுவதும் தொடர் விலையேற்றத்தில் தக்காளி உள்ளதால் பொதுமக்கள் பெரும் அவதிக்குள்ளாகி வருகின்றனர். தக்காளி விலை அதிகபட்சமாக ரூ.75 வரை விற்பனையாகிறது. தக்காளியை அதிகமாக பயிரிடும் மாநிலங்களான கர்நாடகா, உத்தரப் பிரதேசம் மற்றும் மத்தியப் பிரதேசத்தின் பல பகுதிகளில் கடந்த சில வாரங்களாக மழை பெய்து வருகிறது. இதன் காரணமாக பயிர்கள் சேதமடைந்துள்ளன. மேலும் மழை காரணமாக போக்குவரத்தும் தடைபட்டுள்ளது. இந்த காரணங்களால் கடந்த சில வாரங்களாக தக்காளி விலை தொடர்ந்து அதிகரித்து வருகிறது. குறைந்தபட்சம் ஒரு கிலோ 60 முதல் 75 ரூபாய் வரை தக்காளி விற்கப்படுகிறது.

இந்த மாநிலங்களில் தற்பொழுது மழை சற்று தணிந்து காணப்படுவதால் தக்காளி விலை குறைய வாய்ப்புள்ளதாக வேளாண் அதிகாரிகள் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர். அவர்கள் மேலும் கூறியதாவது: இந்திய மக்கள் சமையலில் முக்கிய பங்கு வகிக்கும் தக்காளியின் விலை கடந்த இரு வாரங்களாக தொடர்ந்து உயர்ந்து வருகிறது. கொல்கத்தாவில் கிலோ 75 ரூபாய்க்கும், டெல்லியில் 70 ரூபாய்க்கும் சென்னையில் 60 ரூபாய்க்கும் மும்பையில் 59 ரூபாய்க்கும் தக்காளி விற்கப்படுகிறது. கூடிய விரைவில் இந்த விலையில் மாற்றம் ஏற்படும் என்று நம்பப்படுகிறது என்றனர்.
