பயணிகள் நலன் கருதி, ரயில் நிலையங்களில் குறைந்த கட்டணத்தில் சிகிச்சை  அளிக்கும் வகையிலான கிளினிக்குகளை அமைக்க ரயில்வே நிர்வாகம் முடிவு செய்துள்ளது.

ரயில்வேயின் நடவடிக்கை

மும்பையில் முதல்கட்டமாக, கிழக்கு ரயில்வே நிர்வாகத்தின் கீழ் இயங்கும் 10 நிலையங்களில் இம்மாத இறுதிக்குள் இந்த கிளினிக்குகள் தொடங்கப்படுகிறது. ரயில்வே நிலையங்களில் அடிப்படை வசதிகள், பாதுகாப்பு வசதிகளை மேம்படுத்தவும், சிறந்த முறையில் பராமரிக்கவும் ரயில்வே நிர்வாகம் பல்வேறு நடவடிக்கைகளை மேற்கொண்டு வருகிறது. அந்தவகையில், ரயிலில் பயணம் மேற்கொள்வோர் உடல்நலனை கருத்தில் கொண்டு மிகவும் குறைந்த கட்டணத்தில் சிகிச்சை அளிக்கும் வகையிலான கிளினிக்குகளை தொடங்க ரயில்வே நிர்வாகம் திட்டமிட்டுள்ளது.

ஒரு ரூபாய் கிளினிக்

கிழக்கு ரயில்வேக்கு சொந்தமான 10 ரயில் நிலையங்களில் செயல்பட உள்ள சிகிச்சை மையத்திற்கு , 'ஒரு ரூபாய் கிளினிக்' என பெயரிடப்பட்டுள்ளது. அதாவது மருத்துவரின் கட்டணமாக ரூ.1 மட்டுமே வசூலிக்கப்படும். ரத்த அழுத்த பரிசோதனை இலவசமாக செய்வதுடன், சர்க்கரை பரிசோதனைக்கு ரூ.25 வசூலிக்கப்படும். இசிஜி ரூ.50ல் எடுக்கலாம். இதுபோன்று குறைந்த கட்டணத்தில் பரிசோதனை, சிகிச்சை அளிக்கும் வகையில் இந்த கிளினிக்குகள் இயங்கவுள்ளன.

10 ரயில் நிலையங்களில்

முதல்கட்டமாக 10 ரயில் நிலையங்களில் இம்மாத இறுதிக்குள் இந்த கிளினிக்குகள் இயங்கும். இதைத்தொடர்ந்து, மேற்கு ரயில்வேயின் கீழ் செயல்படும் 24 ரயில் நிலையங்களில் தொடங்க திட்டமிடப்பட்டுள்ளது. இந்த திட்டம் மக்கள் மத்தியில் நல்ல வரவேற்பு இருக்கும் என நிர்வாகத்தினர் எதிர்பார்க்கின்றனர்

LUCKNOW: While UP government representatives accepted disruption in oxygen supply but denied its shortage as the reason for the BRD Medical College tragedy last Saturday the trend at the medical college in previous years establishes infections, acute kidney damage, neo-natal complications and dreaded encephalitis as some of the reasons for high mortality rates in the previous years.

As per the government claims, not a single of those 23 deaths occurred when the oxygen supply was interrupted. The last death took place at 10.05 pm on August 10, while the supply was still on and it went down at 11:30 pm.  

The next death was registered at 5.30 am on August 11, when oxygen cylinders were being used to ensure supply. As per college records, August witnesses the maximum load of patients and relatively high number of casualties.

As many as 587 deaths were recorded in the paediatric wing of the college in the same month last year, taking the average to 20 deaths a day. In 2015 and 2014, the average deaths in a day in August were 22 and 19 respectively.

In previous years, the per day August casualty figure was 19 (2014), 22 (2015), 19.5 (2016) and 13 (till August 10 in 2017). But 23 on a single day on the intervening night of August 10-11 might have upset the average this year.

Increased footfalls with 6,000 patients turning up on a day from the entire Purvanchal, Bihar and bordering Nepal districts especially in the monsoon months of July, August and September sometimes makes the system run out of resources resulting in high casualty figure. While 641 children died in August last year and 491 in 2015, a total of 124 deaths were reported in the hospital till August 8, 2017.

The outbreak of Japanese Encephalitis in epidemic proportions has been plaguing Gorakhpur division since 1978.

Japanese Encephalitis and Acute Encephalitis Syndrome are believed to have claimed over 50,000 lives in eastern UP.

Meanwhile, the national Human Rights Commission, taking suo motu cognizance of the tragedy, issued a notice to the UP government seeking a detailed report on the deaths of the children.

The NHRC has sought the government’s response within four weeks on the action taken against the accused and the steps taken for relief and rehab of the affected families.

Day after tragedy, Ambur GH gets new medical officer, 2 doctors

VELLORE: A day after the Government Ambur Hospital lost two lives due to the absence of duty doctors, two doctors were redirected from nearby hospitals on Monday and a new Medical Officer (MO) replaced the Medical Officer in-charge, on whose watch the incident happened.
On Sunday, an accident patient had waited on the surgical table for over 3 hours for medical attention before succumbing. This was followed by the death of a teenaged heart patient, though the hospital has claimed that she was brought dead.

As outcry poured in from several places, the stark difference between the number of doctors shown on record and the actual number of doctors available, became apparent. In all, the health officials are being blamed for managing the roll poorly, which resulted in the mess on Sunday.

While records show that the Ambur GH has 12 doctors, only six are available. Six others are deployed on other duties, or redirected to other hospitals.

“For the last six months, only six doctors were working here. Of them, three or four doctors will be on leave and the rest struggle with the inflow of patients every day,” said sources.
The doctors themselves are not happy with the situation. “During the doctors’ counselling conducted by Medical Services Recruitment Board (MRB), the vacancies in Ambur GH never come up, as the documents show that there are adequate doctors here.

Though they are on the roll call, some doctors are deployed elsewhere and this never gets reflected in the records. This system has to go,” said a doctor. “The posts of doctors on deployment should be shown vacant,” he added.

As way of immediate action, MO in-charge Sharmila was relieved and Dr Kennedy, the MO who was deployed on another state project, assumed  charges on Monday. A doctor from the hospital at K V Kuppam also took charge and another doctor, being sent from the Government Gudiyatham Hospital, will join on Tuesday.

Three-year NEET exemption unacceptable: Union Minister

The demand for three years exemption from the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) from certain section for students from Tamil Nadu was unacceptable, Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Pon. Radhakrishnan said here on Monday.

Addressing reporters on the sidelines of a Krishna Jayanthi function held here, he said that those demanding permanent exemption were not concerned about students’ welfare. The promise by the Central Government to consider a year’s extension was in students’ interest. But the exemption was only for seats in government medical colleges and government quota seats in private medical colleges, he clarified.

State president of the Bharatiya Janata Party Tamilisai Soundararajan said the Central Government would not grant permanent exemption from the NEET for Tamil Nadu students and the year’s extension was only because Tamil Nadu government had asked for it.

Free haircut for

CMCH in-patients

A Tirupur-based NGO, New Deiva City Trust, offered haircut and shave free of cost to over 200 in-patients at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) here on Thursday. N. Deivaraj, managing trustee of the NGO, said that about 20 of his friends from Tirupur and other towns helped the trust in its mission to offer free haircut and shave to the in-patients of government hospitals across the State.
