அண்ணா பல்கலை கட்டுப்பாட்டில் உள்ள, 550 இன்ஜி., கல்லுாரிகளில், தமிழக அரசின் சார்பில், பொது கவுன்சிலிங் நடத்தி, மாணவர்கள் சேர்க்கப்படுகின்றனர். ஒற்றை சாளர முறையில் நடக்கும் இந்த கவுன்சிலிங்கில், மாணவர்களின் மதிப்பெண், இட ஒதுக்கீடு அடிப்படையில், தரவரிசை பட்டியல் தயாரிக்கப்படுகிறது.

புதுடில்லி : மத்திய நிதியமைச்சர் அருண் ஜெட்லி, இன்று, 2018 - 19ம் நிதியாண்டின் மத்திய பட்ஜெட்டை, பார்லிமென்டில் தாக்கல் செய்ய உள்ளார். இது, பா.ஜ., அரசின் கடைசி பட்ஜெட் என்பதால், ஊதியதாரர்கள், நிறுவனங்கள், நுகர்வோர் உட்பட, அனைத்து தரப்பிலும், பலத்த எதிர்பார்ப்பை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது.

எர்னஸ்ட் யங் நிறுவனம் நடத்திய ஆய்வில், 69 சதவீதம் பேர், வருமான வரி வரம்பு உயரும் என, நம்பிக்கை தெரிவித்து உள்ளனர். மத்திய பட்ஜெட்டில், வருமான வரி வரம்பு, தற்போதைய, 2.50 லட்சம் ரூபாயில் இருந்து, 3 லட்சம் ரூபாயாக உயர்த்தப்படும் என, தெரிகிறது. மத்திய பட்ஜெட்டில், வேளாண் துறை, குறு,சிறு,நடுத்தர நிறுவனங்கள் துறை, அடிப்படை கட்டமைப்பு வசதி, அனைவருக்கும் வீடு ஆகிய திட்டங்களுக்கு முன்னுரிமை அளிக்கும் வகையில் முக்கிய அறிவிப்புகள் இடம் பெறும் என, தெரிகிறது.

Copies, textbook found in NBMCH toilet raises eyebrows

As a team of the Medical Council of India (MCI) visited the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) to inspect the infrastructure for the MBBS course, and as some exams for MBBS students are ongoing there, some photocopies of notes and textbooks were found in the men’s toilet near the examination hall.

The find has led to suspicions that the copies may have been kept there by the students for adopting unfair means during the Third Prof Examination (Part 11) that is underway. Professor of the department of general medicine of Smt NHL Municipal Medical College, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Dr Jayesh Dutt, and professor and head of the department obstetrics and gynecology, GMERS Medical College, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, Bipin M Nayak made the one-day inspection to review the process of conducting the MBBS examination, evaluate the performance in the examinations in the past three years, timing of the examinations, faculty strength, and whether MCI guidelines are being followed during examinations.

NBMCH officials said the purpose of the visit was to look into the infrastructure for the 150 MBBS seats for the academic session 2018-2019. The MCI slashed 50 of the 150 MBBS seats at the NBMCH in the last academic session (2017-18), citing inadequate infrastructure.

Meanwhile, 102 aspiring doctors appeared in the examinations for medicine and gynaecology on Monday. However, surprisingly, bunches of photocopies and pages of textbooks were found stashed in the men’s toilet on Monday.

NBMCH sources, however, said the matter did not come to the notice of the MCI team, which, however, raised questions on the lack of CCTV cameras in the examination halls. NBMCH authorities, meanwhile, seemed to downplay the find in the toilet. “We keep a strong vigil of the exam halls.

Someone may have kept those things in the toilets after failing to carry them to the examination hall,” said assistant dean of the students’ affairs of the NBMCH, Dr Sandip Sengupta. Dr Sengupta said CCTV cameras would be installed in the halls soon and that they were also planning to set up a mobile jammer.

Can’t deny medal to topper, HC tells varsity

The Delhi High Court has held that sitting for an examination by a student in the successive academic year owing to illness or other similar circumstances in the previous year will still be considered the “first attempt”.

The order came as a relief to a BA LLB student at Amity Law School who despite scoring highest marks in his batch was denied a gold medal on the ground that he had taken the examination in respect of two papers in the following year.

Justice Indermeet Kaur observed that the university could not deprive the student of the award citing that examinations taken by the student in 2014 shall be regarded as his “first attempt”.

The student was enrolled in the five-year course of BA LLB in 2010. For his 6th semester examination, out of five papers, he could not appear in two papers, the paper of Code of Civil Procedure and the paper of Code of Criminal Procedure. These two examinations were scheduled for May, 2013.

He could not appear in the examinations as he was suffering from chicken pox. He wrote his examination in the two papers in 2014. He graduated from the university with the highest score/cumulative performance index (CPI) for the course.

In February 2016, he learned that he was not being considered for the gold medal despite having scored the highest in the course. The university had contended that under the governing ordinance, any student who fails to appear in examinations at the first time and thereafter appears in the said examinations on a subsequent date would qualify as a “second attempt” on his part.

But the court relied on the judgments of various High Courts and the Supreme Court to arrive at the conclusion that examinations taken by the student in 2014 shall be regarded as his “first attempt” and directed the university to confer the gold medal on him.

AHMEDABAD/RAJKOT: Dr Rachit Agrawal, a MBBS student from Rajkot, has emerged the top ranker in the all-India PG NEET examination, for admission to postgraduate medical courses, having scored 975 out of 1,200 marks.

"I have scored 975 marks, which according to the National Board of Examinations, is the top score among the PG NEET exam results declared recently. I have topped the exam," said Rachit, who is doing his internship as part of the MBBS undergraduate programme at Rajkot Civil Hospital.

Rachit says he started preparations for PG-NEET about four years ago, along with the MBBS studies, as he knew that he will have to put in extra efforts to ensure a good rank and thus a chance at the postgraduate course of his choice. However, in the recent past, he upped his game by studying five hours a day for PG NEET entrance test along with his 10-hour daily shift on his internship. He hiking his hours of study to between eight and nine.

The study and internship schedule was gruelling, but in the end it was worth it. I never aimed for a rank but knew I would score well. Being the top ranker is a good feeling," said Rachit.

Rachit's father is an ophthalmologist practising in Rajkot while his brother is a radiologist. "I will either pursue medicine or radiology. I am yet to decide on which college I will chose to pursue my masters from as well," said Rachit, who says wildlife and travelling as his two passions.

Rachit scored 95.1% in HSC (science) and chose to pursue his MBBS from Rajkot Medical College at his family's insistence.

Rachit says that contrary to general perception, NEET is not a very difficult exam if you train your aim on cracking it right from the beginning. "It needs consistent and diligent effort," says Dr Rachit.

In all, 1.28 lakh students took the PG NEET exam, of which 64,000 could not clear the test.
