கண்டக்டர் இல்லாமல், 231 பஸ்கள்  இன்று முதல் இயக்கம்

நஷ்டம் மற்றும் கண்டக்டர்கள் பற்றாக்குறையை காரணம் காட்டி, தமிழகம் முழுவதும், 231 பஸ்களை, கண்டக்டர்கள் இல்லாமல் இயக்க, போக்குவரத்து கழக அதிகாரிகள் முடிவு செய்துள்ளனர்.



தமிழக அரசு போக்குவரத்து கழகங்களின், ஏழு கோட்டங்கள், 21 மண்டலங்கள் மூலம், 22 ஆயிரத்து, 457 பஸ்கள் இயக்கப்படுகின்றன. இவற்றின் இயக்கம், பராமரிப்பு பணிகளில், 1.43 லட்சம் தொழிலாளர்கள் ஈடுபடுகின்றனர்.

குறைக்க முயற்சி :

போக்குவரத்து கழகங்களின் நஷ்டத்தை காரணம் காட்டி, சில மாதங்களுக்கு முன், நெல்லை கோட்டம், மதுரையுடன் இணைக்கப்பட்டது. தற்போதுள்ள, ஏழு கோட்டங்களை, நான்காக குறைக்கும் முயற்சி நடந்து வருகிறது.

தற்போதுள்ள, 20 ஆயிரத்து, 120 வழித்தடங்களில் பஸ்களை இயக்க, குறைந்தபட்சம், 95 ஆயிரம் டிரைவர், கண்டக்டர்கள் தேவை. தற்போது, 72 ஆயிரத்து, 135 பேர் மட்டுமே பணியில் உள்ளனர். ஜூனில் மட்டும், 3,000 பஸ்களை அதிகாரிகள் ஓரம் கட்டி உள்ளனர்.

இன்று முதல், தமிழகம் முழுவதும், 500 பஸ்களை, கண்டக்டர்கள் இல்லாமல் இயக்க, அதிகாரிகள் முடிவு செய்துள்ளனர். இதில், 'ஒன் டூ ஒன், பாயின்ட் டூ பாயின்ட், பைபாஸ் ரைடர், எக்ஸ்பிரஸ் ரைடர்' ஆகிய பெயர்களில், நகரங்களுக்கு இடையே இயக்கப்படும் பஸ்கள், இன்று முதல் கண்டக்டர்கள் இல்லாமல் இயங்கும்.

சோதனை ரீதியாக :

முதற்கட்டமாக, சேலம் கோட்டத்தில், 40; கோவையில், 91; விழுப்புரத்தில், 28; கும்பகோணத்தில், 42; மதுரையில், 10 மற்றும் நெல்லை கோட்டத்தில், 20 என, 231 பஸ்கள், கண்டக்டர்கள் இல்லாமல் இயக்கப்பட உள்ளன. நேற்று, பல பஸ்கள், கண்டக்டர் இல்லாமல், சோதனை ரீதியாக இயக்கப்பட்டன.

இது குறித்து, போக்குவரத்துத் துறை அதிகாரிகள் கூறுகையில், 'சோதனை ரீதியாக இந்த முயற்சி மேற்கொள்ளப்படுகிறது. வரவேற்பை பொறுத்து, அடுத்த கட்ட முடிவுகள் எடுக்கப்படும்' என்றனர்.

டிக்கெட் எடுப்பது எப்படி?

கண்டக்டர் இல்லாமல் பஸ்களை இயக்கும் திட்டம், சோதனை முயற்சியாக, 'பாயின்ட் டூ பாயின்ட்' எனப்படும், இடையில் நிற்காத பஸ்கள் அறிமுகம் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளன.

* பஸ் நிலையத்தில், ஒரு கண்டக்டர் இருப்பார். அவர், பஸ்களில் பயணிருக்கான டிக்கெட்களை வழங்குவார். பஸ்சில், பயணியர் நிறைந்தவுடன், கதவுகள் தாழிடப்படும். பின், பஸ்களை இயக்க, டிரைவருக்கு, கண்டக்டர்  உத்தர விடுவார். பஸ் உரிய இடத்திற்கு சென்றதும், பயணியர் இறக்கி விடப்படுவர்.

* சேருமிடத்திலிருந்து மீண்டும் கிளம்பும் போதும், பஸ் நிலையத்தில் உள்ள கண்டக்டர், பயணியருக்கு டிக்கெட் வழங்கி, கதவுகளை தாழிட்டு, பஸ்களை இயக்க உத்தரவிடுவார். பயணியர் அளிக்கும் வரவேற்பை பொறுத்து, இத்திட்டம் விரிவுபடுத்தப்படும்.

தொழிற்சங்கங்கள் எதிர்ப்பு :

இது குறித்து, அரசு போக்குவரத்து கழக ஊழியர்கள் சம்மேளனத்தின் மாநில தலைவர், சவுந்தரராஜன் கூறுகையில், ''கண்டக்டர் இல்லாமல் பஸ்களை இயக்குவது, போக்குவரத்து கழகங்களை தனியார் மயமாக்கும் முயற்சி. இது தொடர்பாக, அனைத்து சங்கங்களின் கூட்டு நடவடிக்கை குழு விரைவில் கூடி, முக்கிய முடிவுகளை எடுக்கும்,'' என்றார். தொ.மு.ச., பேரவையின் மாநில பொதுச்செயலர், மணி கூறுகையில், ''தனியார் பஸ்களின் வருவாயை பெருக்கும் நோக்கில், கண்டக்டர் இல்லாத பஸ்களை அரசு இயக்குகிறது. ஏற்கனவே, சேலம், ஈரோட்டில் செயல்படுத்தப்பட்ட இத்திட்டம், தோல்வியை தழுவியது. சாத்தியமில்லாத திட்டத்தை எதிர்ப்போம்,'' என்றார்.

CBSE Class XII students gain up to 30 marks

A student who passed Central Board of Secondary Education’s Class XII exams this year is likely to have got 30 marks more than the total in their answer scripts. Yes, CBSE did moderate the marks this year, granting nine additional marks each in physics, chemistry, mathematics and accounts, eight marks in business studies and three in English Core.

According to CBSE, moderation was necessitated by the difficulty levels of the papers when analysed after the exam by the subject expert committees. However, the number of subjects in which marks were granted and the quantum of marks added decreased significantly this year, leading a CBSE official to comment that the board was moving towards “zero moderation” from 2019, in tune with 21 other education boards that are committed to the measure.

CBSE called this year’s exercise “standardisation” rather than “moderation” because unlike till 2016, the board only had a single set of question papers instead of different sets with varying difficulties. An official explained, “The standardisation of marks was necessitated by the difficulty level in the question papers. The expert committee analysed the papers and we also got feedback from students at the exam centres.” The number of subjects where moderation was applied came down from 10 and 15 in 2017 and 2016, respectively, to six this year. The moderated marks decreased significantly too. For accountancy and mathematics they came down from 16 in 2016 to nine this year. However, a former controller of examination argued that even this level of moderation was much higher than conventionally practised by CBSE till a few years ago. “A high moderation was a rarity, with 9 granted in mathematics in 2014 because there was a wrong question. But generally between 2005 and 2015, it was restricted to four or five marks,” the former official said. The Union HRD ministry wrote to states, union territories and chairpersons of education boards last August on the need to do away with moderation. However, BP Khandelwal, former CBSE chairperson, who also served as chairperson of Uttar Pradesh Education Board, said that discontinuing mark moderation wouldn’t be feasible until the education boards could guarantee 100% error-free evaluation process. “Moderation is to balance the defects in the instrument. If the paper mark expectancy curve is seen as abnormal, moderation is done to neutralise negative effects,” Khandelwal said.

K’taka minister travels 350km daily as he cannot sleep in B’luru

Karnataka’s public works minister H D Revanna, the elder brother of chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, travels between Bengaluru and Holenarsipura his assembly constituency in Hassan — a round trip of 350km — almost every day. Reason: He is yet to get official accommodation in the city.

Insane as that may be, the question is why isn’t he staying at his private house in Banashankari II Stage or any of the houses owned by his family members in and around Padmanabhanagar in Bengaluru? Or take up a private residence in the city like anyone would do? It’s simply because he does not want to.

The grapevine suggests Revanna has been advised by an astrologer against “sleeping” in his own house as long as he is a minister. This gains credence in the backdrop of Revanna’s unshakable belief in astrology; he is one politician whose every action and decision is based on auspicious time.

The astrologer has also suggested that the minister move to a bungalow allotted by the government. But there is a hitch here too: Revanna’s preferred bungalow in Kumara Park West is not vacant. The supposed-to-be-lucky bungalow is currently occupied by former public works minister H C Mahadevappa, who has three monthsto vacate. Mahadevappa has been residing in the bungalow since 2013 and politicians believe that the house helped him become a powerful minister in the Siddaramaiah government.

Left with no place to stay, Revanna has chosen to shuttle between Bengaluru and Holenarasipura. He wakes up at 5am every day, performs a pooja and meets people from his constituency before leaving for Bengaluru at 8am. He arrives in Bengaluru by 10:30am and heads back to Hassan at around 10pm, reaching around midnight. Of course, the daily travel is done by a chauffeur-driven government car and the cost is borne by the government.

IRCTC website imposing Hindi on non-speakers: TN rail users’ association

An association of railway users has alleged that the new IRCTC website was imposing Hindi on non-Hindi speaking population of Tamil Nadu, accusing the catering and tourism arm of the Indian Railways of promoting Hindi through its ticket booking portal.

In a letter addressed to IRCTC as well as to the railway minister’s office, the Kanyakumari District Railway Users’ Association (KKDRUA) has alleged that the IRCTC’s new website, www.irctc.co.in, for Indian Railways ticket reservation is available in only two versions — Hindi and English — and no other regional languages.

“We found a lot of Hindi imposition in your IRCTC English version website service. If we type travel source and destination, options come in Hindi first then English. The Hindi version of the website is already available. Why impose Hindi script in the English version (of the) website? The Hindi-speaking people will book the ticket from Hindi version website,” the organisation president P Edward Jeni wrote in his letter.

Jeni further said the Official Languages Act, 1976 was not applicable to Tamil Nadu and the people of the state neither read, write or speak Hindi.

“May I request you to ensure that Hindi is not imposed on non-Hindi speaking Indians. You have got facility from the ministry of railways only for ticket reservation purpose. Your job is not to promote the Hindi language.” PTI

CCTV footage confirms police theory of mass suicide

The footage of CCTV cameras installed in the lane where 11 members of a family were found hanging in north Delhi’s Sant Nagar seem to have confirmed the police theory that it was an organised mass suicide, sources said on Wednesday.

The footage of 10pm on Saturday shows Bhavnesh Bhatia’s daughter Neetu and her mother, Savita, carrying four plastic stools towards their house. These stools were used in the hanging.

Another clip shows Lalit’s son, Shivam, accepting the food from the delivery boy around 10.35pm. He then heads out to the plywood shop on the ground floor from where he picks an electric wire bundle and walks upstairs with it at 10.39pm. At 10.57pm, Bhavnesh is seen coming out of the house with the family’s pet dog Jacky and taking it for a walk. He is seen returning at 11.04pm. The dog was later taken to the terrace and tied there.

Going by circumstantial evidence, the family performed the havan after this and ate rotis handed out by their mother. The family hanged themselves between 12.45-1am after the rituals were over, police said. According to the autopsy board report the time of death is around 1am. The CCTV footage has been sent for forensic analysis to rule out tampering. This, along with the autopsy report, will be crucial pieces of evidence for police. The shop from which the stools were bought has also been traced. The owner confirmed that the two women had bought four black stools from him.

The investigating teams had earlier scanned through footage of 16 CCTV cameras located around the house and found no outsider had entered the premises at night. The footage of Sunday morning showed that a supply truck had stopped outside the general store at 6am and unloaded dairy supplies, but no one was seen coming out of the house.

At 7.14am, Gurucharan Singh, a neighbour, is seen going inside the house and coming out in haste just 35 seconds later. Crime branch has also found some papers and ingredients for the puja stuffed in drawers in the temple inside the house.

Notes in diary may’ve been written by niece

The handwriting analysis of the dairies recovered from the house shows that it was probably Pratibha’s daughter, Priyanka, 33, who had been writing the notes on her uncle Lalit’s instructions. On Wednesday, police said that they had recovered 11diaries with the mysterious instructions. Police have found two to three other handwritings in the diaries indicating that Lalit may have dictated the instructions to his wife or the children while he claimed to be in a state of trance. Lalit had strictly instructed his family members not to speak about him in public or even to the extended family. He had promised to help them attain “great strengths” if they followed his advice. The family seemed to have trusted him blindly after he started predicting losses and gains in their lives. TNN

Keralite who quit job wins ₹13cr raffle in Abu Dhabi

The fortunes of a Kerala man changed overnight on Tuesday after he won ₹13 crore in a raffle in Abu Dhabi.

Tojo Mathew, 30, of Kuttanad won 7 million Dirham on a ticket (number 075171) he had purchased at Big Ticket raffle with the help of his friends. Tojo, who was working as a civil supervisor in Abu Dhabi for the past six years, had resigned from his job recently.

He had bought the ticket at the Abu Dhabi airport just before he boarded a flight to India on June 24. The ticket was bought in his name and 18 of his friends pooled their money for the ticket.

Tojo’s mother Kunjamma Mathew said, “I have three sons Tijo (an auto driver), Tojo and Titto (civil supervisor in Abu Dhabi). All of them are married. Tojo always wanted to construct a new home here, but he did not have money. On Tuesday, I told my husband Mathew VJ, a Gulf returnee, that Tojo’s dream can be fulfilled if he won a lottery and it came true. It is god’s grace and I don’t have words to thank him.” Nine others won 100,000 dirhams ($27,000) at the draw. Earlier, an Indian driver in Dubai had won 12 million dirhams in a raffle draw in Abu Dhabi in April.
