THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Health Minister has issued an ultimatum to the long-term absentees in the Health Department. According to the minister, a direction has already been given to the concerned to initiate strict action against those including doctors and other staff who are on unauthorised absence for a long time. The ultimatum for the absentees has been set as January 15.

 “Those who were on unauthorised leave will have to re-enter into their respective services on or before January 15. The defaulters will be dealt with disciplinary actions,” said K K Shailaja.

Meanwhile, it has been learnt that the re-entry of the long-term absentees into their respective services will be subjected to conditions, including the signing of bonds.

“The respective department heads will have to prepare and submit an ‘action taken report’ on the said appointments. They will have to prepare a list of the defaulters who continue to be on leave after January 15. The disciplinary action against them will be based on the aforementioned report,” said Shailaja. ‘சிப்’ உள்ள ஏ.டி.எம். கார்டுகள்

வாடிக்கையாளர்களுக்கு வங்கிகள் வழங்கி உள்ள ஏ.டி.எம். கார்டு மூலம் எளிதாக மோசடி நடந்து வருகிறது. இதுகுறித்து ரிசர்வ் வங்கிக்கு வாடிக்கையாளர்கள் பலர் புகார் அளித்தனர். எனவே மோசடியை தடுக்க பழைய முறையிலான ஏ.டி.எம். கார்டுகளுக்கு பதிலாக ‘சிப்’ வைக்கப்பட்ட டெபிட், கிரெடிட் கார்டுகளை வாடிக்கையாளர்களுக்கு வழங்க அனைத்து வங்கிகளுக்கும் கடந்த 2015-ம் ஆண்டு ரிசர்வ் வங்கி உத்தரவிட்டது.

இதனைத்தொடர்ந்து கடந்த 2016-ம் ஆண்டு ஜனவரி மாதத்தில் இருந்து படிப்படியாக இது நடைமுறைக்கு வந்தது. ‘சிப்’ இல்லாத ஏ.டி.எம். கார்டுகள் 2019-ம் ஆண்டு ஜனவரி 1-ந்தேதி (நேற்று) முதல் செயல்படாது என்று அறிவுறுத்தப்பட்டு இருந்தது. எனவே பெரும்பாலான வங்கி வாடிக்கையாளர்கள் தங்களது பழைய ஏ.டி.எம். கார்டுகளை கொடுத்து ‘சிப்’ உள்ள புதிய ஏ.டி.எம். கார்டுகளை வாங்கி விட்டனர்.

பணம் எடுக்க முடியவில்லை

ஆனால் சிலர் இன்னமும் புதிய ஏ.டி.எம். கார்டு வாங்காமல் உள்ளனர். இதனை கண்டுகொள்ளாமல் இருந்த வாடிக்கையாளர்களின் டெபிட், கிரெடிட் கார்டுகள் நேற்று முதல் செயல்படவில்லை.

குறிப்பாக சென்னையில் பல வாடிக்கையாளர்கள் ஏ.டி.எம். மையங்களில் பணம் எடுக்க முடியாமல் ஏமாற்றத்துடன் திரும்பி சென்றனர். சிலர் ஷாப்பிங் மால்களில் பொருட்கள், சேவைகள் பெற்று பணம் செலுத்த இயலாத நிலைக்கு தள்ளப்பட்டனர்.

இதுகுறித்து இந்திய வங்கி ஊழியர்கள் சம்மேளன பொதுச்செயலாளர் சி.பி.கிருஷ்ணன் கூறியதாவது:-

தபாலில் அனுப்பி வைப்பு

‘சிப்’ இல்லாத டெபிட், கிரெடிட் ஏ.டி.எம். கார்டுகள் ஜனவரி 1-ந்தேதி (நேற்று) முதல் வேலை செய்யாது என்பதால் அந்த கார்டுகளை வைத்து ஏ.டி.எம். மையங்களில் பணம் எடுக்கவோ, கடைகளில் ‘ஸ்வைப்’ செய்து பொருட்கள் வாங்கவோ முடியாது.

எனவே பழைய கார்டுகள் வைத்திருக்கும் வாடிக்கையாளர்கள், அவற்றை வங்கியில் கொடுத்து ‘சிப்’ வைத்த புதிய ஏ.டி.எம். கார்டுகளை பெற்றுக்கொள்ளலாம். வாடிக்கையாளர் பெயர் இல்லாத ஏ.டி.எம். கார்டுகள் ஒரே நாளிலும், பெயருடன் கூடிய கார்டுகள் 7 நாட்கள் அவகாசத்திலும் வழங்கப்படுகிறது. சாதாரண வகை கார்டுகளை வங்கிகள், வாடிக்கையாளர்களுக்கு பதிவு தபாலில் அனுப்பி வருகிறது. மஞ்சள் நிற மாஸ்டர் கார்டுகளை வாடிக்கையாளர்கள் வங்கிகளில் விண்ணப்பித்து பெற்றுக்கொள்ளலாம்.

இந்த உத்தரவு அனைத்து சர்வதேச, உள்நாட்டு வங்கிகளின் டெபிட், கிரெடிட் கார்டுகளுக்கும் பொருந்தும்.

When a major air tragedy was averted in Tiruchy

TIRUCHY: The International Airport at Tiruchy drew global attention recently as a Dubai- bound Air India Express flight miraculously escaped when it brushed past the airport compound wall here at the end of the runway, while taking off in the wee hours of October 12. All the 130 passengers and six crew members had a miraculous escape.

Airport sources told DC that around 0119 hours, the flight commandant Capt. Ganeshkumar operating the aircraft on its taking-off process hit and damaged the Instrument landing system (ILS), one runway end light (RWY 27), five ILS functional monitoring antennas and an ILS monitor controlled antenna, before the wheelbase of the aircraft crashed the compound wall very close to the Tiruchy- Pudukkottai National Highway. It resulted in a small portion of the compound wall collapsing at two places and also damaged the fencing.

The Air traffic Control (ATC) duty staff gave a note to airman and also directed the pilot to come back for an emergency landing, but he told the ATC that they were safe and continued their journey as if nothing happened.

Realising the trouble and danger, the ATC alerted the Air Indian Express authorities and the Mumbai airport. Then, at Mumbai airport ATC’s instruction, the aircraft nearing Muscat returned to Mumbai for an emergency landing there. The passengers of the aircraft came to know about the episode only after the aircraft alighted at Mumbai airport.

According to local residents residing on the Tiruchy-Pudukkottai National highway, fortunately at that time when the flight crashed the compound wall, very close to the National highway, there was no vehicular movement; otherwise a major mishap could have taken place.

This incident has given the jolt to the Airports Authority of India to pursue the expansion of the existing runway, which has been long delayed due to the bottlenecks faced in land acquisition for the proposed runway expansion.

Though the AAI instituted a high level inquiry into the incident, the outcome of the probe is yet to be released. However, after setting right the damaged compound wall and other communication equipment, flights movement in and out of Tiruchy International airport is going on as usual.

Consider plea to grant affiliation for PG courses: Madras HC to Anna University

Chennai: The Madras high court has directed the Anna University to consider on merits and in accordance with law, a representation from Sri Nandhanam College of Engineering and Technology in Vellore district, seeking affiliation for PG courses viz., MBA and M.E.(Structural Engineering) and M.E. (Thermal Engineering) courses.

Justice T.Raja gave the directive while disposing of a petition from Sri Nandhanam College of Engineering and Technology, which also sought a direction to permit 15 students in MBA, 17 students in M.E.(Structural Engineering) and 14 students in M.E. (Thermal Engineering) studying in the college to participate in the 1st semester practical and theory examinations for the year 2018-2019.

According to G.Sankaran, counsel for the petitioner, the college has applied for continuation of Provisional Affiliation by the Anna University. Based on the same, the University conducted inspection in March 2018 and issued notice pointing out certain deficiencies. Thereafter, the college has submitted a detailed compliance report in April 2018. While so, the Anna University issued proceedings dated May 15, 2018, granting provisional affiliation in favour of the college with reduced strength of students. When the said proceedings were challenged by the college, this court set aside the order of the Anna University in respect of B.E. (Marine Engineering) course only with further direction, leaving to take any decision in respect of the other discipline or course, he added.

He further submitted that the college filed another petition to modify the earlier order in order to give liberty to the petitioner to approach the University for redressal to avail sanctioned intake of students in respect of P.G courses, viz., M.B.A and M.E courses and this court granted liberty to the college to approach the Anna University with a further direction to the University to consider the same on merits. Thereafter, the petitioner college has resubmitted the representation to the University on September 27, 2018 for granting provisional affiliation for M.B.A and M.E courses since the students have already been admitted in the said course and the list of student have already been forwarded to the University for verification. But, no order has been passed by the University. Therefore, the college filed the present petition, he added.

The judge said considering the facts and circumstances of the matter, it appears that the representation of the petitioner which was resubmitted on September 27, 2018 was pending with the Anna University. Therefore, the Anna University was directed to consider the said representation of the petitioner on merits and in accordance with law within one week, the judge added.
