IndiGo to start daily direct flight to Istanbul by April

The dream cruise on the Bosphorous could soon be within your reach. Budget carrier IndiGo will start daily flights to Istanbul by this March or April using the newly acquired Airbus A321 new engine option (Neo) aircraft. The low cost carrier (LCC) expects to get “double digit” A321Neos this year and is going to start onestop flights to the UK where it is looking at Birmingham and London Stansted and Gatwick as the options. Guangzhou and Kunming in China and Moscow are also on the LCCs radar as it plans aggressive international growth to areas which are in the range of the A321Neos.

“Our Istanbul flight should start by March-end or April. Our model for these flights will be pretty much the same as our current one. The per cost of the A321 Neo is low and we will be able to offer very competitive fares,” said a senior IndiGo official.

The LCC will also expand its reach in the Gulf by adding new places to its network like Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. In Istanbul, IndiGo will fly to the new airport that will open shortly.

No Indian carrier flies to Turkey. And Turkish Airlines has only a daily direct to Delhi and Mumbai each from Istanbul. IndiGo introducing flights to Istanbul will provide the much-needed capacity enhancement on this route as the number of Indian visitors to Turkey has been increasing.

Last month, IndiGo and Turkish entered into a codeshare agreement which it said will enable both carriers to provide more flexibility of choice to their respective customers to fly on sectors between India, Istanbul and beyond.”

Bangkok-Delhi AI flight lands in Kolkata post fuel leakage

Air India’s Bangkok-Delhi flight on Saturday night with about 150 people on board had to make an emergency landing in Kolkata reportedly due to fuel leakage from the right wing. The flight, AI 335 operated on an Airbus A320 (VTEXV), landed safely in Kolkata at 10.30pm Saturday. The aircraft is said to have stopped on the taxiway and then was taxied to the terminal.

The flight took off from Bangkok just after its schedule time of 9.30 pm Saturday for the 4-hour-10-minute flight to Delhi. After flying for about half that time and on entering the Indian airspace, the technical problem was detected in the aircraft. The pilots then decided to land at Kolkata.

An AI spokesman said: “Delhi-Kolkata AI-22, which landed Kolkata at 11.30 pm flew back the passengers of Bangkok-Delhi at 1.30 am from Kolkata. The aircraft (VT-EXV) will return as ferry flight (without passengers) to Delhi.”

SpiceJet Delhi flight’s engine shuts midair, lands in Varanasi on one engine

New Delhi:

A SpiceJet Boeing 737 Max flying from Hong Kong to Delhi on Sunday suffered one “engine flame-out” — meaning fuel flow to one engine got stopped and then it shut down — near Patna. Since twin-engine aircraft can land safely on one engine, the B737 Max did so at the nearest airport that was Varanasi.

“The engine has a ‘servo valve’ that regulates flow of fuel, developed a snag. Fuel flow to this engine got affected then and it flamed out meaning there was no power in it. Flame-out does not mean there was fire in the engine, it just stopped working,” said sources.

A SpiceJet spokesman said: “On Sunday , SpiceJet flight SG-32 Hong Kong to Delhi was diverted to Varanasi after the pilots noticed low fuel supply in number 1 engine. Pilots followed the standard operating procedure and landed safely in Varanasi. Passengers deplaned normally. On inspection, a fuel control valve ,a minor component, was found to have malfunctioned and is being replaced. The aircraft will be back in operation by evening.”

SpiceJet is learnt to have sent another aircraft to Varanasi with man and material to fly back passengers to Delhi and left the required repair material with technicians at Varanasi to inspect the engine. The aircraft took off from Hong Kong at 7.42 am on Sunday. TNN

Residents pool in money, install 28 CCTV cameras

Following the Chennai police who are on a mission to put up CCTV camera every 50 meters across the city, residents of a Chromepet locality have installed 28 such electronic eyes to watch over their streets.

Members of the VPG Residents Association, East Radha Nagar, pooled in money, with contributions ranging from ₹100 to ₹5,000 and bought and installed the 28 CCTV cameras at a cost of ₹2.40 lakh. The association, which represents around 300 households, has installed these cameras with night vision at various vantage points.

The cameras cover Venkateshwara street (both cross street and extension), Vivekananda street (both cross street and extn), Dhandapani street, Pazhaniandavar street ,and part of Ganapathypuram main road.

The area has not witnessed any major crime, and residents say they hope the CCTV cameras will act as a further deterent. They expect the cameras to inhibit the movement of anti-social elements in the locality.

For now, members of the association will monitor and retain the footage. They plan to provide evidence to the police in the event of a crime.

The CCTV installation was inaugurated by Pallavaram MLA, E Karunanidhi, who also contributed ₹20,000. Murugaiyan, secretary of the federation of associations, Pallavapuram, also participated.

Erosion of family values reason for more rapes, says HC judge

Incidents of rape have doubled in the past decade mainly because of erosion of family values, said Madras high court judge Justice N Kirubakaran, speaking at a book release function here on Sunday.

Ruing that a situation had arisen wherein events and functions had to be organised to spread awareness about rape and violence against women and children, Justice Kirubakaran said domestic unrest was the root cause of many social evils.

The judge said the joint family system offered a mix of all human feelings and experiences and prepared youngsters for challenges in open society. A family busy with machines and social media platforms deprived children of fundamental values, he said.

Touching upon issues ranging from domestic violence to sexual harassment, as discussed in the book authored by lawyer A P Suryaprakasam, Justice Kirubakaran pointed out that involvement of women in crimes against women, particularly issues involving dowry, was rampant.

“I’m pained when women battling domestic issues tell me that the parents of their husband were the problem. Violence against women and children have gone up mainly because we lack love, affection and supervision of elders in families,” he said.

Instances of domestic and sexual ha rassment reflected personality disorders and psychological disorders, he said, adding that though India had the dubious distinction of having the maximum number of persons with psychological disorders, the nation did not have enough counsellors and psychiatrists.

“Only by making offenders suffer the pain through due process of law, can we deter such people from targeting children and women,” said Justice Kirubakaran. Criticising the state liquor policy, he said many families had been ruined by free availability of alcohol.

Earlier, Justice (retd) K N Basha said he would get outraged at news of sexual harassment of children by people trusted by them, like teachers and relatives. Senior Congress leader and seasoned lawmaker Peter Alphonse said the functioning of the democracy was revolving around judiciary. “Judicial activism is an accepted reality now, and its role in moderating democratic institutions can’t be undermined,” he said.

சமீபத்தில் தமிழகத்தில் சர்ச்சையைக் கிளப்பிய பல விஷயங்களில் வேட்டியும் ஒன்று. தமிழனின் பாரம்பரிய உடையான வேட்டிக் கட்டிக்கொண்டு ஹை ஃபையான கிளப்களுக்குள் நுழையக் கூடாது என கிளப் உரிமையாளர்கள் அனுமதி மறுக்க, மிகப் பெரிய சர்ச்சை வெடித்தது.

அதன் பிறகு தமிழக அரசு “வேட்டி கட்டி வரக் கூடாது என்று தடை விதிக்கும் கிளப்புகளின் உரிமம் ரத்து செய்யப்படும்” என்று தடாலடியாகச் சட்டம் பிறப்பித்துத் தமிழர்களின் மனதைக் குளிர வைத்தது. அதுமட்டுமின்றி அந்தச் சமயத்தில் கோ-ஆப்டெக்ஸ் நிறுவனத்தின் செயல் இயக்குநராக இருந்த சகாயம் ஐஏஎஸ் பொங்கலை ஒட்டி வேட்டி தினம் கொண்டாடுவோமே எனச் சொல்ல, அந்தக் கோரிக்கையும் அரசால் நிறைவேற்றப்பட்டுப் பள்ளி, கல்லூரி, அலுவலகம் ஆகிய இடங்களில் வேட்டி கட்டிக்கொண்டு தங்களின் வேட்டி தினத்தைக் கொண்டா டினர் இளைஞர்கள்.

அதன் தொடர்ச்சியாக இந்த ஆண்டு ஜனவரி 6 வேட்டி தினம் என்று அறிவிக்கவே, தானாக முன்வந்து பலர் வேட்டி தினத்தை வெகு விமரிசையாகக் கொண்டாடி வருகின்றனர். குறிப்பாக இளைஞர்கள் மத்தியில் வேட்டி தினம் அமோக வரவேற்பைப் பெற்றுள்ளது. அப்படி வேட்டி கட்டிக்கொண்டு வாழ்த்துகளைப் பரிமாறிக்கொண்டிருந்த இளைஞர்களிடம் பேசியபோது...

தன்னம்பிக்கை வருகிறது!

இரண்டு வருடங்களுக்கு முன்பு முதல் தடவையாக வேட்டி கட்டியபோது கூச்சமாக இருந்ததால், ஜீன்ஸ் பேண்ட் போட்டு அதன் மேல் வேட்டி கட்டியவர் அன்சார். இப்போது, “எத்தனை ஆடைகள் வந்தாலும் வேட்டிக்கு நிகர் வேட்டி மட்டுமே” என வேட்டிக்கு அமோக வரவேற்பு கொடுக்கிறார். ஏனென்றால் வேட்டி கட்டிக்கொண்டு வெளியே செல்லும்போது மனதில் ஒரு விதமான தன்னம்பிக்கை உணர்வு வருகிறதாம். “குறிப்பாகப் பெண்களின் பார்வையும் என் மீது சாயும்” என வெட்கத்தொடு சொல்லும் அன்சாரை அவருடைய நண்பர் யாசின் “மச்சி வழியுதுடா” என்று கலாய்க்கிறார்.

வேட்டிக்கு மரியாதை வேண்டும்

வேட்டியைச் சரி செய்து கொண்டிருந்த யாசினிடம் வேட்டி பற்றிக் கேட்டவுடன் “வணக்கம் மக்களே” என அரசியல்வாதி தொனியில் ஆரம்பித்தார். “நான் ஓட்டல் மேனேஜ்மெண்ட் படிக்கிறேன். சில திருமணங்களுக்கு உணவு உபசரிப்பு பயிற்சிக்காகச் செல்கிறேன். அங்கே வட மாநிலத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர்கள் பலர் தங்களின் ஷெர்வானியைவிட வேட்டி சட்டையை விரும்பி உடுத்துவதை பார்த்திருக்கிறேன்.

ஆக இன்றைய ஆண்களிடம் வேட்டி விழிப்புணர்வு அதிக மாகவே இருக்கிறது” எனச் சொல்லும் யாசின் இன்னும் பல விஷயங்களை அடுக்கினார். “சில மாதங்களுக்கு முன்பு உயர் நீதிமன்ற முன்னாள் நீதிபதி கிளப்பில் வெளியேற்றப்பட்ட செய்தியை கேட்டபோது பெரியவர்களைவிட இளைஞர் களான நாங்கள்தான் அதிகமாகக் கொந்தளித்தோம். ஃபேஸ்புக், டிவிட்டர், வாட்ஸ் அப் என எங்களுடைய எதிர்ப்பைத் தெரிவித்தோம்” என்று தன்மானச் சிங்கமாகக் கர்ஜிக்கிறார்.

வேட்டியை டிரெண்டாக்குவேன்!

ஃபேஷன் டிசைனராக வேலை பார்த்துவரும் ராம் தமிழக ஆடைகளை மேலை நாட்டவருக்கு அறிமுகம் செய்து, பல விதங்களில் வேட்டி, புடவையைக் கட்ட பயிற்சி அளித்து வருகிறார். “முன்னாள் நீதிபதி வேட்டி கட்டியதால் வெளியேற்றப்பட்ட விஷயத்தில் கொஞ்சம் நல்லதும் இருக்கிறது. காரணம் அப்படிச் செய்ததால்தான் வேட்டியின் தாக்கம் நம் மக்களிடம் இன்னும் அதிகரித்தது. அவசர உலகில் எதையும் கண்டுகொள்வதில்லை. ஆனால் அதற்கான நேரம் வந்தால் தமிழர்கள் அனைவரும் ஒன்றுபடுவோம்” என்று உணர்ச்சி பொங்கப் பேசினார்.

உள்ளே கூச்சம் வெளியே கம்பீரம்

நரேன் தீவிர அஜித் ரசிகர். “வீரம் படம் ரிலீசப்ப தல ரசிகர்கள் அனைவரும் வேட்டி கட்டுனாங்க. அதுவும் என்னைப் போன்ற இளைஞர்களை வேட்டி பக்கமாக இழுத்தது எனச் சொல்லலாம்” என்கிறார். வேட்டி சட்டையோடு எடுத்த செல்ஃபி போட்டோவை ஃபேஸ் புக்கில் நண்பர்களுக்குப் பகிர்ந்துகொண்டிருந்த திருமணி பத்து வயதிலிருந்தே வேட்டி கட்டுகிறாராம். “நான் சிறு வயதில் பார்த்துப் பிரமித்த எங்க கிராமத்துப் பெரியவர்தான் எனக்கு ரோல்மாடல்” என்கிறார் நெகிழ்வுடன்.

வேட்டி தினத்துக்காக நான்கு வேட்டிகளை வாங்கிய சஞ்சீவ் “எனக்கு வேட்டி கட்டுவது கொஞ்சம் கூச்சமாக இருக்கும். காரணம் எப்படா கழன்று விழுமோன்னு பயமாகவே இருக்கும். அதனால் உள்ளே பெல்ட்டு போட்டுத்தான் வேட்டி கட்டுவேன். இருந்தாலும் வேட்டி கட்டி வெளியே செல்லும்போது நம்மையும் நாலு பேர் பாக்குறாங்களே என்று மனதுக்குள் ஒரு கம்பீரம் தானாக வரும்” என்கிறார். இவர் பொங்கல் பண்டிகைக்கும் வேட்டியை மட்டுமே கட்ட வேண்டும் என்று சபதம் எடுத்துள்ளாராம். சபதம் நிறைவேற வாழ்த்துகள்.

இந்திய ரயில்வே, தனது பயணங்களை அதிகப் பாதுகாப்பானதாக மாற்ற ஏராளமான முயற்சிகளை முன்னெடுத்து வருகிறது. முன்னதாக 139 என்ற எண்ணை அழைத்து ரயில் எங்கே வந்துகொண்டிருக்கிறது என்ற தகவலைப் பயணிகள் பெற்றுக்கொண்டிருந்தனர். ஆனால் ஒரே எண்ணை, ஒரே நேரத்தில் ஏராளமானோர் அழைத்ததால், சர்வர் பிரச்சினை ஏற்பட்டு 139-ஐ உடனடியாகத் தொடர்பு கொள்ள முடியாத நிலை இருந்தது.

மதுரையில் இருந்து ஏறக்குறைய 42 ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகு சென்னைக்கு ‘தேஜஸ்’ என்கிற அதிவேக ரயில் விரைவில் இயக்கப்பட உள்ளது. இதன் மூலம் சுமார் 7 மணி நேரத்தில் சென்னையை சென்றடையலாம் என அதிகாரிகள் தெரிவித்தனர்.

தென்மாவட்டங்களில் இருந்து மதுரை வழியாக சென்னைக்கு தற்போது 20-க்கும் மேற்பட்ட ரயில்கள் இயக்கப்படுகின்றன. மதுரையில் இருந்து தினமும் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான பயணிகள் சென்னைக்கு ரயில் மூலம் செல்கின்றனர்.

மதுரையில் இருந்து சென்னைக்கு முதன் முதலாக 1977-ம் ஆண்டு பகல் நேரத்தில் வைகை எக்ஸ்பிரஸ் ரயில் இயக்கப்பட்டது. அதே சமயம் பல ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு இரவு நேரத்தில் பாண்டியன் எக்ஸ்பிரஸ் ரயில் இயக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது.

இருப்பினும் சென்னை செல்லும் ரயில்களில் டிக்கெட் கிடைக்காமல் காத்திருக்கும் பயணிகள் எண்ணிக்கை அதிகரித்து வருகிறது. இதனால் வடமாநிலங்களைப் போன்று மதுரையில் இருந்து சென்னைக்கு பகல் நேர சூப்பர் பாஸ்ட் எக்ஸ்பிரஸ் ஒன்று இயக்க வேண்டும் என தென்னக ரயில்வே பயணிகள் நலச் சங்கம், தமிழ்நாடு தொழில் வர்த்தக சங்கம் மற்றும் பல்வேறு அமைப்பினர், எம்பிக்கள் மத்திய ரயில்வே அமைச்சகத்துக்கு கோரிக்கை வைத்தனர்.

பிரதமர் தொடங்கி வைப்பார்இதை ஏற்று மதுரை- சென்னைக்கு பகல் நேர ‘தேஜஸ்’ அதி விரைவு ரயிலை தினமும் இயக்க மத்திய ரயில்வே அமைச்சகம் நடவடிக்கை எடுத்துள்ளது. இந்த ரயிலின் முதல் பயணத்தை பிரதமர் மோடி மதுரையில் இருந்து தொடங்கி வைக்க உள்ளார். மதுரையில் எய்ம்ஸ் மருத்துவமனைக்கான அடிக்கல் நாட்டு விழா ஜன.27-ல் நடைபெற உள்ளது. அப்போது பிரதமர் மோடி இந்த ரயிலை கொடியசைத்து தொடக்கி வைக்க திட்டமிட்டிருப்பதாக மதுரை ரயில்வே கோட்ட அதிகாரிகள் தெரிவித்தனர்.

இந்த ரயிலில் மொத்தம் 10 பெட்டிகள் இணைக்கப்படுகின்றன. ரயில் என்ஜினுக்கு அருகிலும், பின் பகுதியிலும் கார்டுக்கு 2 பெட்டிகள் ஒதுக்கப்படுகின்றன. முதல் 4 எக்ஸ்கியூடிவ் பெட்டிகள். சொகுசு வசதிகள்விஐபிக்கள், முக்கிய அதிகாரிகள் பயணிக்கும் வகையில் இது வடிவமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. மீதம் உள்ள 4 பெட்டிகளில் சாதாரண மக்கள் பயணிக்கும் வகையில் இருக்கும். ஒவ்வொரு பெட்டியிலும் தலா 48 பேர் வரை பயணம் செய்யலாம். தரமான கேட்டரிங் வசதியும், தானியங்கி கதவுகளும், தொலைக்காட்சியும் பொருத்தப்பட்டுள்ளன.

வியாழக்கிழமை சேவையில்லைஇதுகுறித்து தென்னக ரயில்வே பயணிகள் சங்க பொதுச் செயலர் கே. பத்மநாபன் கூறியதாவது:கோவா, ராஜஸ்தானில் ‘தேஜஸ்’ அதிக வேக ரயில்கள் ஏற்கெனவே ஓடுகின்றன. இதுபோன்ற ரயிலை மதுரை-சென்னை இடையே இயக்குவதற்குப் பல முறை கோரிக்கை வைத்தோம். தற்போது அதற்கு ஒப்புதல் கிடைத்துள்ளது.

இந்த ரயில் சென்னையில் இருந்து காலை 6.30 மணிக்குப் புறப்பட்டு, பிற்பகல் 1.30 மணிக்கு மதுரை சென்றடையும். மதுரையில் இருந்து பிற்பகல் 2.30 மணிக்கு கிளம்பி இரவு 9.30 மணிக்கு சென்னை சென்றடையும். வியாழக்கிழமை மட்டும் ரயில் சேவை இருக்காது. சுமார் 7 மணி நேரத்தில் சென்னை-மதுரை இடையே இயக்கத் திட்டமிட்டுள்ளதால் திருச்சி, விழுப்புரம் ரயில் நிலையங்களில் மட்டும் இந்த ரயில் நிறுத்தப்படும் என எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.

புதிய ரயில் மூலம் பாண்டியன் மற்றும் தென்மாவட்டங்களில் இருந்து செல்லும் பிற எக்ஸ்பிரஸ் ரயில்களிலும் பயணிகள் கூட்டம் குறையும் என்றார்.

ரயில்வே அதிகாரி ஒருவர் கூறும்போது, ‘‘தேஜஸ் ரயிலை இயக்க கால அட்டவணை தயாரிக்கப்படுகிறது. கட்டண விவரம், ரயிலில் உள்ள வசதி, சலுகை விவரம் விரைவில் தெரியவரும். அதுகுறித்து ஆன்லைனில் வெளியிடப்படும். புதிய ரயிலை மதுரை வரும் பிரதமர் தொடங்கி வைக்கும் வகையில் திட்டமிடப்படுகிறது’’ என்றார்.
