ஐரோப்பிய நாடான, பிரிட்டனில் பணியாற்ற விரும்பும் டாக்டர்கள், நர்சுகள், பல்மருத்துவர்கள், பணிப் பெண்கள் ஆகியோர், ஓ.இ.டி., எனப்படும் தொழிற்முறைஆங்கிலத் தேர்வில் தேர்ச்சி பெற வேண்டும். இதைத் தவிர, டோபல் அல்லது ஐ.இ.எல்.டி.எல்., என்ற மொழித் தேர்வில் தேர்ச்சி பெற வேண்டும்.ஆக்ஸ்போர்டு பல்கலையின் துணை அமைப்பு நடத்தும், ஓ.இ.டி., தேர்வு, பல்வேறு நாடுகளில் ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளப்பட்டுள்ளது. அதனால், அந்தத் தேர்வில் தேர்ச்சி பெற்றாலே, பிரிட்டனுக்கான விசாவை பெறலாம். டாக்டர்கள் உள்ளிட்டோர், டோபல் போன்ற தேர்வுகளிலும் தேர்ச்சி பெறத் தேவையில்லை.இதற்கான அறிவிப்பு சமீபத்தில்வெளியிடப்பட்டது. அக்., 1 முதல் இது அமலுக்கு வருகிறது.

புதுடில்லி:நாடு முழுவதும், பல்வேறு கல்வி நிறுவனங்களில், பிஎச்.டி., எனப்படும், ஆராய்ச்சி படிப்பின் மீது ஆர்வம் குறைந்து வருவது, ஆய்வின் மூலம் தெரியவந்துள்ளது.

மத்திய மனிதவள மேம்பாட்டுத்துறை சார்பில், அகில இந்திய உயர்கல்வி குறித்து, சமீபத்தில், ஆய்வு மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டது. இதில் தெரியவந்துள்ள விபரங்கள்:பல்கலைக்கழகங்கள், கல்லுாரிகள் மற்றும் தனிச்சிறப்பு கல்வி நிறுவனங்கள் என்ற மூன்று பிரிவுகளில், உயர்கல்வி குறித்த ஆய்வுகள் நடத்தப்பட்டன.

தேர்வு

இதில், 962 பல்கலைக்கழகங்கள்; 38 ஆயிரத்து, 179 கல்லுாரிகள்; 9,190 தனிச்சிறப்பு கல்வி நிறுவனங்கள், ஆய்வுக்கு எடுத்துக் கொள்ளப்பட்டன. மொத்தமுள்ள கல்லுாரிகளில், 34.9 சதவீத நிறுவனங்களில் மட்டுமே, முதுநிலை படிப்புகள் உள்ளன; 2.5 கல்லுாரிகளில் மட்டுமே, பிஎச்.டி., எனப்படும் ஆராய்ச்சி படிப்புகள் உள்ளன. இவற்றில், பெரும்பாலான கல்லுாரிகளில், பொறியியல் மற்றும் தொழில்நுட்ப படிப்புகளையே, முதுநிலை மேற்படிப்புக்கு செல்லும் மாணவர்கள் தேர்வு செய்கின்றனர்.

கல்லுாரி மற்றும் பல்கலைக்கழங்களில் உள்ள மொத்த மாணவர்களில், 79.8 சதவீதம் பேர், இளநிலை பட்டப்படிப்பில் உள்ளவர்கள். இளநிலை படிப்புகளை பொருத்தவரை, பி.ஏ., பட்டப்படிப்பை முதல் தேர்வாகவும், அதைத் தொடர்ந்து, பி.எஸ்சி., மற்றும் பி.காம்., படிப்புகளை அடுத்த தேர்வாகவும் மாணவர்கள் விரும்புகின்றனர். இளநிலை படிப்பை பொருத்தவரை, கலை, சமூக அறிவியல் படிப்புகளில், அதிகளவாக, 35.9 சதவீதம் பேர் சேர்ந்து உள்ளனர்.

70 IAS officers transferred in Rajasthan

The Rajasthan government has transferred 70 IAS officers, including 10 district collectors, according to an official order.

The Officer on Special Duty to former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje was among those transferred on Saturday night.

Additional Chief Secretary, Administrative Reforms, Ravishankar Srivastava has been made chairman of the Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation.

Additional Chief Secretary, Industries, Subodh Agrawal has been given MSME dept. in addition to his existing departments while principal secretary, MSME, Alok was transferred as MD of RSRTC.

4G for BSNL users

Customers using BSNL network will now have access to 4G services in Madurai’s urban areas according to a press statement.

Those with 4G handsets can procure 4G sim cards from the BSNL Customer Service Centre in Tallakulam, East Masi street or in Ellis Nagar. Customers need to bring their Aadhaar cards or other documents of proof to change their sim for free. The centres will be open on Sunday as well to allow quick transition.

Vizianagaram district in Andhra Pradesh is known for migration of its people in search of livelihood, leaving behind their children in the elders’ care. But the senior citizens bent with age are often unable to take their grandchildren to school. This is one of the major reasons for children dropping out of school.

The Jammu Mandal Praja Parishad School, located on the outskirts of Vizianagaram, used to face the same problem. But now it has a decent strength of 120 students. Thanks to the initiatives of the school headmaster Mantri Rammohana Rao.

He arranged one auto-rickshaw for the safe transport of children from their homes in nearby villages and colonies to the school and back. He pays around ₹4,500 a month from his pocket for the transport facility. Over 30 more students have joined the school recently with the availability of transport.

In fact, the school was in a dilapidated condition five years ago and cyclone Hudhud did the rest. Without waiting for help from the government, Mr. Rao approached the alumni and local residents for funds. With a kitty of ₹10 lakh, the school’s compound wall and other infrastructure were rebuilt. Now the school premises resembles a park.

After seeing Mr. Rao’s commitment, Shirdi Saibaba Seva Sangham executive member Kurivella Harigopal came forward to supply breakfast for all students.

Woman teacher alleges harassment by college

A faculty of a private dental college in Chennai on Sunday uploaded a video on Facebook alleging harassment by the college authorities and appealed for help.

The college authorities, however, claimed that she was in a state of depression.

The woman, working as an assistant professor in Tagore Dental College, affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, claimed in the video message that she was being subject to frequent “abuse and torture”. She said she had been living on the campus for over a year-and-a-half and was being threatened by the senior faculty.

“When I go to the staff room, they push me out in front of the students.” She claimed that she had been locked up in a room without food for two weeks and without water for two days. She, however, did not give any reasons for the alleged harassment.

A senior college official said an inquiry had been instituted.

Legal consultant of the college M. Deivanandam claimed the woman showed signs of depression. Recently, she posted a photo of a self-inflicted injury on WhatsApp. According to him, the college authorities advised her to remove the photo and warned her of disciplinary action if she repeated such acts. “Her attendance is also very poor,” he said.
