'தீர்ப்பை திருத்த முடியாது; ஜெ. பதவியேற்க தடை இல்லை!'

பெங்களூரு: ஜெயலலிதா மீதான சொத்துக்குவிப்பு வழக்கில் தீர்ப்பில் உள்ள குளறுபடி உள்ளதாக எழுந்துள்ள புகாரை தொடர்ந்து, கர்நாடக உயர் நீதிமன்ற சிறப்பு நீதிபதி குமாரசாமி அவசர ஆலோசனை நடத்தியதாக தகவல் வெளியான நிலையில், தீர்ப்பில் திருத்தம் செய்யும் அதிகாரம் அவருக்கு இல்லை என  தகவல் வெளியாகி உள்ளது. 
 

சொத்துக்குவிப்பு வழக்கில் கர்நாடக உயர் நீதிமன்ற நீதிபதி குமாரசாமி அளித்துள்ள தீர்ப்பில் ஜெயலலிதா உள்ளிட்டோர் வங்கிகளில் இருந்து வாங்கிய கடன் தொகை குறித்த கூட்டலில் தவறு நடந்து இருப்பதாக திமுக தலைவர் கருணாநிதி உள்ளிட்ட பல்வேறு கட்சித் தலைவர்களும் குற்றம் சாட்டி உள்ளனர். 

இந்நிலையில்,  நீதிபதி குமாரசாமி  தனது உதவியாளர்களுடன் இன்று தீர்ப்பு வழங்கிய அறை எண் 14ல் அவசர ஆலோசனை நடத்தியதாக தகவல் வெளியானது.

தமிழகத்தில் உள்ள எதிர்க்கட்சிகள், ஜெயலலிதா விடுதலை தீர்ப்பில் தவறு இருப்பதாக கூறி வரும் நிலையில், குமாரசாமி அவசரமாக ஆலோசனை நடத்தியதாக தகவல் வெளியானது தமிழக அரசியல் வட்டாரத்தில் பரபரப்பை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது.

இதனால் ஜெயலலிதா தற்போதைக்கு முதல்வராக பதவியேற்பதில் தடையேதும் இல்லை என்பதால், அவர் மீண்டும் முதல்வராக பதவியேற்பது குறித்த தகவல் விரைவில் வெளியாகலாம் எனத் தெரிகிறது. இருப்பினும் தனக்கு சாதகமாக கிடைத்த தீர்ப்பு குறித்து சர்ச்சை எழுந்தது குறித்து ஜெயலலிதா தரப்புக்கு சற்று கவலையை ஏற்படுத்தி உள்ளதாக கூறப்படுகிறது. 

Public holidays of 2016 announced: Six long weekends next year -

SINGAPORE - Workers planning a getaway can look forward to six long weekends next year.

The Ministry of Manpower has released dates of public holidays for next year, with six of the 11 falling on a Friday, Sunday or Monday.

This is just one less than the bumper crop of seven long weekends this year, but up from an average of five in recent years.

When public holidays fall on a Sunday, it means the next day is a day off. This year, eight public holidays fall on Friday, Sunday or Monday - with Aug 7 declared a public holiday as part of Singapore's 50th birthday celebration, forming a four-day weekend.

Last year and the year before, there were four long weekends. There were five in 2012 and 2011, and seven in 2010.

There will also be a four-day weekend next year as the first and second days of Chinese New Year fall on Monday and Tuesday next year, similar to this year's, which fell on Thursday and Friday.

Long weekends give travellers the potential to go further afield using fewer days of leave.

Graphic designer Jason Fu, 26, said: "I will definitely make use of this to travel more. As I have only 15 days of annual leave, having long weekends matters to me."

Two of the public holidays next year fall on a Saturday - Vesak Day on May 21 and Deepavali on Oct 29.

Employees not required to work on Saturdays can claim a day off or compensation for that public holiday, if covered under the Employment Act.

Deepavali is also subject to change when the Hindu almanac becomes available. For this year, the Hindu Advisory Board has confirmed that Deepavali will fall on Nov 10 - a Tuesday - which was stated previously.

Companies here have various policies if the public holiday falls on a Saturday.

For example, at OCBC Bank, employees will be given a day off but they have to clear it within a month.

A Pan Pacific Hotels Group spokesman said that its staff will also get a day off, but they have three months to use it.

Public officers who work from Monday to Friday can also claim a day off for a public holiday falling on a Saturday, said the Public Service Division.

ICSE and ISC results to be announced on May 18

MUMBAI: The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) will announce the ISC and ICSE exams results at 11.30am on May 18.

This year, more than 70,000 candidates took the Class 12 boards, and the number of students who took the Class 10 boards was around 1.59 lakh. Last year, the result was announced on May 17 and May 21 for ISC and ICSE respectively.

According to a release issued by the council, results will be available to the students on to the council website. Schools will be able to access the results by logging on to the careers portal of the council using the principal's login ID and password.

The ICSE boards began on February 27 and ended on March 30, while the ISC exams began on February 9 and ended on April 1.

Medical college may get 50 more MBBS seats

The Medical Council of India (MCI) is yet to give recognition for 50 additional MBBS seats in the K.A.P. Viswanatham Government Medical College (KAPVGMC) for the academic year 2015-16.

The college had offered 50 additional seats, in addition to 100 seats, in 2013-14 based on temporary approval by the MCI. While granting permission for 2014-15 in July 2014, the MCI had stated that the college should meet the MCI requirements for conducting MBBS course with 150 seats.

Based on it, the State government had taken a number of steps to increase the manpower requirements, mainly additional faculty requirement, classroom facilities and others.

Following this, a three-member MCI team recently visited the medical college and the Mahatma Gandhi Medical College Hospital, which is attached to the medical college. The team inspected all facilities including hostels, canteen, classrooms and others required for 150 students. Similarly, it checked whether the college had sufficient number of faculty members, as prescribed by the MCI, for taking classes for 150 students. The team members paid special attention to check if the discrepancies pointed out by the earlier MCI teams had been rectified.

Hospital authorities are hopeful of getting the MCI nod for the additional 50 seats. M.K.Muralidharan, Dean, KAPVGMC, told The Hindu that the approval might come anytime. The team had made positive remarks about the facilities. Once it gets the approval, there would not be any hurdle in admitting 150 students for the next five academic years.
