அகில இந்தியத் தொழில்நுட்பக் கல்வி கவுன்சிலிடமிருந்து (ஏஐசிடிஇ) பொறியியல், கட்டடக்கலை, மேலாண்மை மற்றும் ஹோட்டல் நிர்வாகம் மற்றும் கேட்டரிங் போன்ற துறைகளுக்கு இந்தாண்டு ஒப்புதல் பெற்ற கல்லூரிகளின் எண்ணிக்கை குறைந்துள்ளது.

இந்தத் துறைகளில் ஒவ்வொன்றிலும், பல கல்லூரிகள் தங்கள் அங்கீகாரத்தைப் புதுப்பிக்கவில்லை மற்றும் இடங்களின் எண்ணிக்கையும் கணிசமாகக் குறைந்துவிட்டது.

கடந்த ஆண்டு பொறியியல் கல்லூரிகளில் பல்வேறு துறைகளில் 35,52,199 இடங்கள் இருந்தன, ஆனால், இந்தாண்டு 32,62,262 இடங்கள் மட்டுமே உள்ளன. 239 கல்வி நிறுவனங்கள் மூடப்படுவதற்கு ஒப்புதல் பெற்றுள்ளன.

ஏஐசிடிஇ தலைவர் அனில் டி.சஹஸ்ரபுத்தே, கடந்த வாரம் சென்னையில் இருந்தபோது, தமிழகத்துக்குத் தேவையான தரவுகள் தொகுக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது எனத் தெரிவித்தார். ஆனால், உயர் கல்வி அமைச்சர் அன்பழகன், இந்தாண்டு 567 கல்லூரிகளில் மட்டுமே மாணவர் சேர்க்கை நடைபெறும். ஆனால், கடந்தாண்டு 587 கல்லூரிகளில் சேர்க்கை நடைபெற்றது. 2017-18ஆம் ஆண்டில் 2,67,651 இடங்களில் 1,52,704 இடங்கள் நிரப்பப்பட்டன எனத் தெரிவித்தார்.

டிப்ளோமா, இளங்கலை மற்றும் முதுகலை பொறியியல் பாடத் துறைகளை நீக்குவதற்கு தமிழ்நாட்டிலிருந்து 94 கல்லூரிகள் அகில இந்திய தொழில்நுட்பக் கல்வி கவுன்சிலிடமிருந்து ஒப்புதல் பெற்றுள்ளன. சில கல்வி நிறுவனங்கள் பல பாடத் துறைகளை மூடுவதற்கு முயன்று வருகின்றன. அதாவது, சிவில் இன்ஜினீயரிங், ஆட்டோமொபைல் இன்ஜினீயரிங், (யுஜி) எலெக்ட்ரானிக்ஸ் மற்றும் கம்யூனிகேசன் (டிப்ளோமா) மற்றும் கம்ப்யூட்டர் சயின்ஸ் இன்ஜினீயரிங் போன்ற பாடத் துறைகளை நீக்குவதற்கு முடிவு செய்துள்ளன. பெரும்பாலான கல்லூரிகளில் முதுகலை படிப்புகள் நீக்கப்பட்டன.

தற்போது, மருந்தகப் படிப்புகளில் மாணவர்கள் அதிகளவில் விருப்பம் காட்டுகின்றனர். இந்தக் கல்வியாண்டில், அகில இந்திய தொழில்நுட்பக் கல்வி கவுன்சில், 1,055 கல்லூரிகளுக்கு டிப்ளோமா படிப்புகள் மற்றும் 1,204 கல்லூரிகளுக்கு டிகிரி படிப்புகளுக்கு ஒப்புதல் வழங்கியுள்ளது. 338 கல்லூரிகளில் மருந்தகத்தில் டிப்ளோமா படிப்புகளுக்கும், கூடுதலாக 212 கல்லூரிகளில் டிகிரி படிப்புகளுக்கும் ஒப்புதல் வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.

தமிழ்நாடு பார்மஸி கவுன்சில் பதிவாளர் டி.இளங்கோ, “மருந்தகப் படிப்பு மாணவர்களுக்குச் சிறந்த வேலை வாய்ப்பை உருவாக்கித் தருவதால், மாணவர்கள் பொறியியல் படிப்புகளில் ஆர்வம்காட்டுவதில்லை. மருந்தகப் படிப்புகள் வழங்கும் தனியார் கல்லூரிகளின் எண்ணிக்கை இரண்டு ஆண்டுகளில் 47 முதல் 65 வரை அதிகரித்துள்ளது” எனத் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

‘Give grace marks to NEET Tamil candidates’

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) should grant grace marks to candidates who took the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) in Tamil, CPI(M) Polit Bureau member G. Ramakrishnan has said.

Addressing reporters in Coimbatore on Saturday, he claimed that the Tamil paper had 68 questions that were wrong, including some that were poorly translated, causing confusion among candidates.

Therefore, the CBSE should grant grace marks, he said, pointing out that mistakes had recurred despite the CBSE’s assurance to the Madras High Court last year that it would ensure error-free question papers for 2018.

‘T.N. needs a nursing university’

Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Saturday said Tamil Nadu should have a nursing university.

“You send a proposal to the Centre and we will get it done,” he told Health department officials during a national conference on the theme ‘Nurses: A voice to lead – health is a human right’, organised by the Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council in Chennai.

The Governor said Tamil Nadu had always been an important centre for medical diagnosis and treatment. It was the first State to enact the Public Health Act. The State enjoyed an impressive record in the reduction of infant mortality and maternal mortality rates. Private sector involvement in the establishment of hospitals has been prevalent in Tamil Nadu for years, he said.

The State ranked first in the country in terms of the number of children immunised, and took pride in the lakhs of eminent medical practitioners and nursing professionals engaged in providing healthcare, Mr. Purohit added.

C. Vijaya Baskar, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, said he would take up the request for setting up a nursing university in the State with the Chief Minister.

Speaking at the occasion, Health Secretary J. Radhakrishnan asked nurses to constantly upgrade their skills.

The International Nurses Day is celebrated on May 12 across the globe to acknowledge the contribution made by nurses to health services and to discuss various issues concerning them.

Anna University postpones exam

Anna University has postponed one exam for first year students, which was slated to be held on May 19, as the exam date clashes with that of TANCET, the entrance test for postgraduate courses offered by the university.

It is learnt that the dates for TANCET were announced after those for the university's semester exams. The postponed exam may be held in June.
