மதுரை, சர்க்கரை நோய் பாதிப்புள்ள மாணவர்களை மருந்துகள், உணவுப் பொருட்கள், மருத்துவ உபகரணங்களுடன் தேர்வறைக்குள் அனுமதிக்க தாக்கலான வழக்கில், 'மதுரை இ.எஸ்.ஐ., மற்றும் அரசு மருத்துவமனைகளின் சர்க்கரை நோய் பிரிவு தலைமை டாக்டர்கள் ஆஜராக வேண்டும்' என உயர்நீதிமன்ற மதுரை கிளை உத்தரவிட்டது.

மதுரை கே.கே.நகர் கேசவன் தாக்கல் செய்த பொதுநல மனு:முதல்வகை சர்க்கரை நோய் (டைப் 1) குழந்தைப் பருவத்தில் வருகிறது. இரண்டாம் வகை சர்க்கரை நோய் (டைப் 2) வயதானவர்களுக்கு வருகிறது. முதல்வகை சர்க்கரை நோயாளிகளுக்கு தொடர் கண்காணிப்பு, மருத்துவ உதவிகள் தேவை. இப்பாதிப்புள்ள மாணவர்களை மருந்து, பழங்கள், சாக்லேட், குடிநீருடன் தேர்வறைக்குள் அனுமதிக்க மத்திய இடைநிலை கல்வி வாரிய(சி.பி.எஸ்.இ,) தேர்வு கட்டுப்பாட்டாளர் 2017 பிப்.,21 ல் சுற்றறிக்கை அனுப்பினார். ஆனால் பள்ளி பொதுத்தேர்வுகள், யு.பி.எஸ்.சி., நீட், ஜெ.இ.இ.இ., உட்பட பல்வேறு போட்டித் தேர்வுகள் எழுதச் செல்லும்போது அவர்களுக்குரிய உணவு, மருந்துகளை தேர்வறைகளுக்குள் எடுத்துச் செல்ல அனுமதிப்பதில்லை.

LUCKNOW: In a major crackdown on tax evaders, the Income Tax department attached assets worth Rs 225 crore of Net Ram, a retired IAS officer of UP cadre and his associates as part of an alleged tax evasion probe against them here on Wednesday.

Netram, a 1979 batch IAS officer, held key positions during Mayawati's tenure as Uttar Pradesh CM in 2007 and 2012.

The Income Tax officials carried out searches on properties linked to the former IAS officer in Delhi and Lucknow on Tuesday.


The former bureaucrat is suspected of having evaded tax to the tune of Rs 100 crore.

As per the sources, the action was initiated on the provisional order under section 132(9B) (power to attach) of the I-T Act. Around 20 immovable assets of the retired officer across metro cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Noida were attached and three luxury cars found at his residence in Lucknow were impounded.

Moreover, cash worth over Rs 1.64 crore, Montblanc pens valued at Rs 50 lakh, four luxury SUVs and documents indicating 'benami' assets of Rs 300 crore were recovered during income tax raids on the premises linked to the retired IAS officer.IT department officials carried out the action on a dozen premises of the officer on the basis of "credible inputs" that the former top bureaucrat and his associates had made alleged bogus entries of about Rs 95 crore from Kolkata-based shell firms in the past.

The officer had served in various capacities in UP, including heading the excise, sugar industries and cane department, stamp and registration, food and civil supplies department.

CHENNAI: A staff nurse who was delivering the baby of a 26-year-old woman at an Additional Primary Health Centre in Koovathur, Kancheepuram district, removed the head of the baby leaving the torso inside the womb. The woman was later shifted to the Government Chengalpet Medical College Hospital where doctors administered drugs to expel the torso of the baby on Wednesday. The woman is said to be stable.

Dr VK Palani, Deputy Director of Health Services, Saidapet, told Express that Bommi from Koovathur had been rushed to the PHC fully dilated at around 6 am on Wednesday. "A preliminary inquiry conducted by a team of experts has indicated that the foetus had died in the womb at least 12 hours before the woman arrived at the PHC. There are chances of the head snapping off a dead foetus if the body is nearly decayed," he explained.

"The nurse who conducted the delivery has two years of experience and has conducted over 40 deliveries," said a senior health department official.

Doctors at the Government Chengalpet Medical College Hospital said the body of the baby was expelled and for postmortem examination. The mother is said to be stable. Senior gynaecologists said such an incident was unheard of in Tamil Nadu's medical history.


"In my service of over three decades, I have never heard of something like this. If the foetus is decaying in the womb, chances of decapitation are there, so we have always been told to handle cases of intra-uterine deaths carefully," said a senior gynaecologist, who is retired from government service.

It may be noted that a few months ago in Rajasthan, a nurse separated the body of a baby from its head, leaving the head inside the mother's womb.

COIMBATORE: With the Anna University administration and Higher Education department at loggerheads about conducting Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission, self-financing engineering colleges have now sought a new government technical university made in-charge of them. Anna University’s imminent Institute of Eminence status too has influenced the decision.

A decision in this regard was taken at the meeting of the Consortium of Self-Financing Profession, Arts and Science Colleges of Tamil Nadu om Chennai on Tuesday. The association is planning to submit a memorandum to the government, seeking the formation of ‘Tamil Nadu Technical University’, in a week.
Chairman of a private engineering college, who attended the meeting, has accused the University of ‘step-motherly treatment’ to private institutions under its ambit.

“We pay around Rs 1,200 crores to the University in terms of examination fee, affiliation fee and registration fee; this is only used for development of the University. Now, the University and Higher Education department are not on good terms about engineering admissions. We are facing problems in terms of evaluation too, as the University has refused to give grace marks despite the fact that many questions were out of syllabus. This has led to many colleges in rural areas delivering a low pass percentage. The introduction of break system too has affected students,” the chairman explained.


AU sacks 37 temporary staff

The Anna University has terminated the contract of 37 temporary staff working in its zonal offices for their involvement in examination malpractice.

The said staff had allegedly allowed students to write the test outside the exam hall and later included their papers with the rest of the pile for evaluation.

Madras University not to conduct exams during election week

The Madras University has 87 teaching and research departments, spread over six campuses and 135 affiliated colleges with a strength of about three lakh students.

CHENNAI: To ensure smooth conduct of examinations during election time and to encourage students to vote, the University of Madras has decided not to hold any examination during April 15-20, varsity officials said.

Voting for Lok Sabha elections will be held in the State on April 18. Examinations for undergraduate and post-graduate courses in the university and its affiliated colleges will start from April 1. However, from April 15 to April 20, no examination will be conducted.

Controller of examinations, K Pandian said keeping in mind the election schedule, the examination time-table has been chalked out to ensure that students face no problem and the examination is not affected in any way.


Vice-Chancellor P Duraisamy said, “Some of the colleges affiliated to the university will be converted as polling booths during the election. In order to avoid any last moment glitches in arrangement and to ensure smooth conduct of examinations, we have intentionally not scheduled any examination for undergraduate or post-graduate courses during the election week. Adding to it, the week long holiday will encourage students to go to their native places and exercise their voting rights,” he said.

Notably, April 17 (Mahaveer Jayanti) and April 19 (Good Friday) are public holidays. The University on Tuesday issued a circular informing all its affiliated colleges about the examination schedule and had also uploaded the time table on its website.
