Central University of Tamil Nadu students issued memos for discussing Article 370 abrogation

TIRUVARUR: The Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN), Tiruvarur administration has issued memos to at least 30 students allegedly for discussing the abrogation of Article 370.

According to sources, the students discuss various topics every Wednesday. On August 7, around 7 pm, they gathered near the MP hall of the University and allegedly discussed abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution.

On August 9, the registrar of the University S Bhuvaneswari signed memos to be issued to the students who participated in the discussion. A part of the memo read “the student name).... was assembled along with other students at 7 pm on August 7, 2019 outside the MP Hall of Central University of Tamil Nadu as part of Wednesday’s discussion (Article 370) of the Constitution of India despite issue of several oral and written instructions through circulars. This act has constituted a breach of Conduct Rules and established procedures”. The students were asked to give explanation, through the concerned head of departments, within three days of the issue of the memo. The memo goes on stating that ‘students were already instructed to desist from assembling/congregating in the name of student’s freedom of speech inside the University campus since it is against the spirit of Ordinance No.42’. It says despite the warnings the students gathered to discuss Article 370.

Francis Philip Barclay, Assistant Professor and the coordinator of Public Relations Committee, told the Express to send an e-mail for any comments. When the e-mail was sent, he simply replied that ‘we will bring the official response to this query at the earliest’. No response was received till the time of going to the press.

As floodwaters began noticeably receding nearly six days after torrential rain hit Sangli and Kolhapur districts in western Maharashtra, five more bodies were retrieved in the Sangli boat accident, taking the death toll in the tragedy to 17.

The total death toll in the past fortnight arising from flood or rain-related accidents across western Maharashtra is now up to 40, said authorities.

“Of these, 19 persons died in Sangli; 17 were killed in the boat accident while one person is still missing. Six persons died in Kolhapur with one missing in that district as well, while there have been seven rain-related deaths in Satara and Pune districts and one casualty in Solapur,” said Pune Divisional Commissioner Dr. Deepak Mhaisekar.

The boat accident occurred earlier this week when at least 30 persons commandeered a boat belonging to the Gram Panchayat of Brahmanal village, cut off by rising floodwaters, and attempted to remove themselves to safety on their own.

While nine bodies were recovered soon after the tragedy, three more were found on Friday and five more on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mhaisekar said a total of 4.41 lakh persons across the five flood-hit districts, including Sangli, Kolhapur, Satara, Pune and Solapur had been shifted to shelters.

Of these, 2.45 lakh from more than 50,000 families had been evacuated from Kolhapur, while 1.58 lakh from more than 29,000 families had been rescued from rising water levels in Sangli.

“Of the 2.45 lakh evacuated in these two districts, 1.19 lakh belong to the 42 worst-hit villages in Kolhapur and Sangli that were completely cut off by the floods. They are now housed in 305 temporary shelters,” he said.

Relief operations are still on in Sangli and Kolhapur as water levels of the Krishna and Panchganga rivers still remain high.

With evacuation and rescue operations nearly complete, NDRF teams and other relief agencies are now wading through the waters. They will be providing essential items to those who have chosen to remain in their residences.

தமிழ் நிலத்துக்கே உரிய வழிபாடு, முருகன் வழிபாடு. முருகனைப் பற்றி குறிப்பிடும்போதும் 'தமிழ்க் கடவுள்' என்றே சொல்கின்றனர். தமிழர்கள் உலகமெங்கும் பரவி வாழ்கிறார்கள். அவ்வாறு அவர்கள் குடியேறியிருக்கும் இடங்களிலெல்லாம் முருகனுக்கு கோயில்கள் கட்டி வழிபடுகின்றனர். பல்வேறு நாடுகளிலும் முருகக் கடவுளுக்கு கோயில்கள் இருந்தாலும் மலேசியத் தலைநகரான கோலாலம்பூரில் அமைந்திருக்கும் பத்துமலைக் குகைக் கோயில் மிகவும் பிரபலமானது.


146 அடி முருகன் சிலை

இயற்கையாக உருவான சுண்ணாம்புக் குகைக்குள் அமைந்திருக்கும் இந்தக் கோயிலின் நுழைவுவாயிலில் அமைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும் 140 அடி உயர பிரமாண்ட முருகன் சிலைதான், இதன் புகழுக்குக் காரணம். இந்த பிரமாண்ட முருகனைத் தரிசிப்பதற்காகவே பக்தர்கள் மலேசியாவிற்குச் செல்கின்றனர்.

ஆனால், முருகனுக்காக அமைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும் மிக உயரமான சிலை என்கிற பெருமையை மலேசிய முருகன் கோயிலிடமிருந்து தமிழகம் பற்றிக்கொள்ள இருக்கிறது.


கல்வி வரம் அருளும் எண்கண் முருகன்

சேலம் மாவட்டம் வாழப்பாடி அருகே, முருகக் கடவுளுக்கு 146 அடி உயரத்தில் சிலை அமைக்கும் பணி முழுவீச்சில் நடந்துவருகிறது. சேலம் - உளுந்தூர்பேட்டை தேசிய நெடுஞ்சாலையில் இருக்கிறது, புத்திரகவுண்டம்பாளையம் கிராமம். இங்குதான், தனிநபர் ஒருவரின் முயற்சியால் 146 அடி உயர பிரமாண்ட முருகப் பெருமான் திருமேனி தயாராகிவருகிறது.

தீவிர முருக பக்தரான முத்துநடராஜன், திருப்பணிகள் நடைபெற்றுக்கொண்டிருக்கையிலேயே தான் உருவாக்க விரும்பிய முருகனைத் தரிசிக்கும் முன்னரே இயற்கை எய்திவிட்டார்.

இதில் சுவாரஸ்யம் என்னவென்றால், கோலாலம்பூரில் 140 அடி உயர சிலை அமைத்த அதே திருவாரூர் தியாகராஜன் ஸ்தபதி தான், இந்த புத்திரகவுண்டம்பாளையம் முருகன் சிலையையும் செய்துவருகிறார். முருகனின் சிலை மட்டும் 126 அடி. பீடத்துடன் சேர்த்து 146 அடி உயரம் இருக்கும் என்கிறார் ஸ்தபதி.

சிலை வடிவமைப்பு பற்றி திருவாரூர் தியாகராஜன் ஸ்தபதியிடம் பேசினோம்...

“மலேசியா நாட்டில் கோலாலம்பூர், பத்துமலை குகைக்கோயில் நுழைவுவாயிலில் வைக்க, தம்புசாமி என்பவருக்குக் கடந்த 2006-ம் ஆண்டு 140 அடி உயரத்தில் முருகன் சிலை அமைத்துக்கொடுத்தேன். இதுவே முருகனுக்கு அமைக்கப்பட்ட உலகின் உயர்ந்த சிலையாக இதுவரை இருந்துவருகிறது. சேலம் மாவட்டத்தைச் சேர்ந்த முத்துநடராஜன் என்பவர், முருகன் சிலையை அமைக்கவேண்டி என்னைத் தொடர்புகொண்டார். அவர் விருப்பப்படி மலேசியா, பத்துமலை முருகன் சிலையை விடவும் 6 அடி உயரம்கூட்டி, 146 அடி உயரத்தில் சிலை அமைத்து வருகிறோம்.


முருகன்

இந்தப் பணியில் 22 சிற்பிகள், 10 உதவியாளர்கள், எனக்குத் துணையாக இருந்துவருகிறார்கள். மலேசியாவில் வடிக்கப்பட்ட சிலையில், முருகன் வலதுகையால் வேல் பிடித்ததுபோல காட்சி தருகிறார். இங்கு, புத்திரகவுண்டம்பாளையத்தில் வடித்துவரும் சிலையில், முருகப்பெருமான் வலது கையால் ஆசீர்வாதம் செய்வதுபோன்றும், இடது கையால் வேலைத் தாங்கியபடி சிரித்த முகத்துடன் மணிமகுடம் சூடி காட்சிதருவதைப்போன்று அமைத்துவருகிறோம்.

தற்போது, முருகனுக்கு ஆடை மற்றும் அணிகலன்களை அமைக்கும் நுண்ணிய வேலைப்பாடுகளைச் செய்துவருகிறோம். இந்தச் சிலை அமைக்கும் பணி முடிவடையும்போது, உலக அளவில் முருகனுக்கு அமைக்கப்பட்ட மிகப்பெரிய சிலையாக இது இருக்கும்” என்றார் ஸ்தபதி.



முருகன்

புத்திரகவுண்டம்பாளையத்தில் முருகன் சிலையை அமைக்க முயற்சி எடுத்தவர், முத்து நடராஜர். தீவிர முருக பக்தரான இவர், திருப்பணிகள் நடைபெற்றுக்கொண்டிருக்கையில், தான் உருவாக்க விரும்பிய முருகனைத் தரிசிக்கும் முன்னரே இயற்கை எய்திவிட்டார். அவரது குடும்பத்தினர்தான் தற்போது கோயில் அமைக்கும் பணியைச் செய்துவருகிறார்கள்.

முத்து நடராஜனின் மகனும், கோயில் திருப்பணிக் குழுவின் நிர்வாக இயக்குநருமான ஸ்ரீதரிடம் பேசினோம்.

“என் அப்பா தீவிர முருக பக்தர். அவருக்கு 78 வயதிருக்கும்போது, 2015-ம் ஆண்டு புத்திரகவுண்டம்பாளையம் அருகே நிலம் வாங்கி 2 ஏக்கர் பரப்பளவில் முருகன் சிலை அமைக்க முடிவுசெய்தார். முருகப் பெருமானின் பரம பக்தரான தந்தை, 'முருகப் பெருமானுக்கு மிகப்பெரிய சிலை அமைக்க வேண்டும்' என்று விரும்பினார்.

முருகனின் புன்னகை

அவரது விருப்பப்படிதான் மலேசியத் தலைநகர் கோலாலம்பூரில் இருக்கும் பத்துமலை முருகன் சிலையைவிடவும் உயரமாக இந்தச் சிலையை எழுப்பத் திட்டமிட்டோம். அதன்படி திருவாரூர் ஸ்தபதி தியாகராஜனைத் தொடர்புகொண்டு, சிலை அமைக்கும் பணியைத் தொடங்கினோம். கடந்த 2016-ம் ஆண்டு செப்டம்பர் 6-ம் தேதி பூமி பூஜை போடப்பட்டது. தந்தைதான் சிலை அமைக்கும் பணியைக் கவனித்துவந்தார்.

இந்த நிலையில், அவர் கடந்த ஆண்டு உடல் நலக்குறைவாலும் வயோதிகத்தாலும் இறந்துவிட்டார். தான் அமைக்கும் முருகன் சிலையைக் காண்பதற்கு முன்பே முருகன் அவர்மீது விருப்பம் கொண்டு அழைத்துக்கொண்டார். தந்தையின் விருப்பத்தை நிறைவேற்றுவதற்காக, நான் இப்போது இந்தப் பணிகளைக் கவனித்துவருகிறேன்.



முருகன் சிலை

தந்தையின் விருப்பப்படி, 2020-ம் ஆண்டு பங்குனி உத்திரத்துக்கு முன்பு, குடமுழுக்கு நடத்தத் திட்டமிட்டுள்ளோம். இந்தச் சிலை அமைக்கும் பணி முடிந்த பிறகு, அறுபடை முருகன் சிலைகளையும் இங்கு மக்கள் தரிசிக்கும் வகையில் கோயில் அமைக்கத் திட்டமிட்டுள்ளோம். அப்போதுதான் தந்தையின் ஆன்மா சாந்தியடையும்” என்றார்.
