நவராத்திரியில் சரஸ்வதியை வழிபடும் கடைசி மூன்று நாட்களும், கோயில், வீடுகளில் வீணை வழிபாடு செய்வர். இதற்கு காரணம் தெரியுமா? 'நவரத்னமாலா' என்ற ஸ்தோத்திரத்தில், காளிதாசர், பராசக்தியின் கையில் வீணை இருப்பதாக குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார். அவள் எப்போதும் சங்கீத இனிமையில் லயித்து இருப்பதாகவும், மிருதுவான மனதுடன் பக்தர்களுக்கு அருள்புரிவதாகவும் கூறியுள்ளார். வீணை ஏந்திய அம்பிகையை 'சியாமளா' என அழைப்பர். இன்னிசையால் வழிபட்டு அவளை மகிழ்ச்சிப்படுத்த வேண்டும் என்னும் அடிப்படையில் நவராத்திரியின் போது, வீணை இசை வழிபாடு நடத்துகின்றனர்.

வீட்டில் சரஸ்வதி பூஜை

சரஸ்வதி பூஜையின் போது பூஜையறையை சுத்தம் செய்ய வேண்டும். மேஜை வைத்து அதன் மேல் வெள்ளைத்துணியை விரித்து சரஸ்வதி படம் அல்லது மஞ்சளில் பிடித்த சரஸ்வதி முகத்தை வைக்க வேண்டும். வெண்தாமரை அல்லது வெண்ணிற மலர்களைச் சூட்டி அலங்கரிக்க வேண்டும். மேஜையின் ஒருபுறத்தில் குழந்தைகளின் பாடப்புத்தகங்களை அடுக்க வேண்டும். மறுபுறத்தில் வாழை இலையில் சுண்டல், சர்க்கரைப் பொங்கல், புளியோதரை, எலுமிச்சை சாதம், அவல், பொரி, கடலை, நாட்டுச் சர்க்கரை, தேங்காய், வாழைப்பழங்களை படைக்க வேண்டும். இலையின் அருகில் சாணப்பிள்ளையாரும், செம்மண்ணில் பிடித்த அம்மனையும் வைக்க வேண்டும்.

முதலில் விநாயகருக்கும், அடுத்து செம்மண் அம்மனுக்கும் தீபாராதனை காட்ட வேண்டும். பிறகு சரஸ்வதியை பூஜிக்க வேண்டும். பூஜையின் முடிவில் சரஸ்வதி போற்றி, சரஸ்வதி அந்தாதி, சகலகலாவல்லி மாலை போன்ற பாடல்களைப் பாட வேண்டும். மாலையிட்ட மங்கை சுயம்வரத்தின் போது நிடதநாட்டு மன்னன் நளனுக்கு மாலையிட விரும்பினாள் தமயந்தி. ஆனால் பேரழகியான அவளை அடைய விரும்பிய இந்திரன் உள்ளிட்ட தேவர்கள், நளன் போல உருமாறி சுயம்வரத்தில் பங்கேற்றனர். மண்டபம் எங்கும் நளனாக இருப்பது கண்ட தமயந்தி திகைத்தாள். உண்மையான நளனை அறிய முடியாமல் தவித்த போது சரஸ்வதி தேவி புத்தியில் புகுந்தாள். 'வானுலக தேவர்களின் கால்கள் தரையில் படாது' என்ற உண்மையை உணர்த்தி வழிகாட்டினாள். நளனின் கால்கள் தரையில் படுவதைக் கண்ட தமயந்தி, மணமாலையைச் சூட்டி மகிழ்ந்தாள்.

வேதாரண்யம் சிவன் கோயிலில் சரஸ்வதி வீணை இல்லாமல் காட்சி தருகிறாள். இங்கு உள்ள அம்பிகையின் குரல் இனிமை கேட்ட சரஸ்வதி வீணை இல்லாமல் இருப்பதாக ஐதீகம். ராஜஸ்தான் மாநிலம் புஷ்கரில் வீணை இல்லாத சரஸ்வதிக்கு சன்னதி உள்ளது. சரஸ்வதியின் பிறந்த நட்சத்திரம் மூலம். சொல்லின் செல்வன் என போற்றப்படும் அனுமனும் இதே நட்சத்திரம் தான். அன்ன வாகனத்தில் வீற்றிருக்கும் சரஸ்வதியை வடமொழியில் 'ஹம்ச வாகினி' என்பர். தமிழில் 'அம்சவல்லி' என குறிப்பிடுவர். மயிலில் இருக்கும் சரஸ்வதிக்கு 'மயூர வாகினி' என பெயர்.

பிரம்மாவின் நாக்கில் சரஸ்வதி குடியிருக்கிறாள். இதனால் 'நாமகள், வாக்தேவி' என்றும் பெயருண்டு. சீவக சிந்தாமணி காப்பியத்தில் 'நாமகள் இலம்பகம்' என்ற பகுதி உள்ளது.

ரகசியம்

தட்சிணாமூர்த்தி, சரஸ்வதி ஞானம் அருள்பவர்கள். இதன் அடையாளமாக இருவரின் கையிலும் வெண்ணிற ஸ்படிகமாலை தாங்கியிருப்பர். சரஸ்வதி அந்தாதியைப் பாடியவர் கம்பர். இவருக்காக சரஸ்வதி கிழங்கு விற்கும் பெண்ணாக மனிதவடிவில் வந்தாள். அரியலுார் மாவட்டம் கங்கை கொண்ட சோழபுரத்தில் இருக்கும் சரஸ்வதி, ஞானம் தருபவளாக விளங்குகிறாள். அர்த்த பத்மாசனத்தில் அமர்ந்த நிலையில் காட்சி தரும் இவளின் வலதுகையில் ஆள்காட்டி விரல் மேல்நோக்கி நீட்டியபடி 'சூசி' முத்திரையுடன் உள்ளது.

'கடவுளைப் பற்றி அறிவதே மேலானது' என்பது இதன் பொருள். சாந்த முகத்துடன் மார்பில் பூணுால், கைகளில் ஜபமாலை, கமண்டலம், சுவடி, வளையல்கள் என கலைநயத்துடன் யோகநிலையில் ஆழ்ந்திருக்கும் இவளை வழிபட்டால் நல்லபுத்தி, ஆன்மிக ஞானம் உண்டாகும்.

NAGAPATTINAM: In the rarest of rare cases of medical miracles, a baby girl who was born weighing just 580 gm five months ago has made a remarkable recovery. Shivanya was handed over to her parents in a joyful ceremony Nagapattinam General Hospital on Friday.

S Latha (20) could not believe her eyes when nurses brought the infant to her in the labour ward of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the hospital on May 10. The baby was all skin and bones and weighed just 580 gm, believed to be among the lightest babies ever born in India. It was her second child after her first pregnancy was aborted spontaneously a year ago. "Not many gave my daughter a chance of survival. I was scared as I lost my first child before she could be delivered. I had some hope my second child would make it. I never left the hospital. Today, nothing can describe my happiness, that she survived and she will live healthily," said Latha, wife of Selvamani, a fisherman from Samanathampettai, a village near Nagapattinam

The child was not registered in the birth register for a few days as it was considered an expelled foetus delivered within the abortion period of 24 weeks. Doctors called the infant second-lightest child born in Tamil Nadu and third-lightest in India. Medical staff did not give her daughter much of a chance to survive, Latha said. The child was born on May 10 as a premature baby. She was in her mother's womb for under 23 weeks, instead of being delivered after nine months from the womb. Doctors and nurses treated her for the remaining 20 weeks in the hospital. The nurse called the child 'Shivanya' and doctors called her 'Jhansi Rani'. The girl's parents are likely to rename her.

Shivanya's journey to good health has been termed a rare case by the medical community. "The baby did not have the pulmonary surfactant, which is a fluid mixture of lipids and proteins in the alveoli of the lungs and which is required to breathe properly. So, she was given bovine surfactant therapy. Her stomach was decompressed using the nasogastric tube and bovine surfactant, extracted from bovines, was fed through an endo-gastric tube, " said Dr KR Jayakumar, Chief Paediatrician. Nagapattinam General Hospital, who, along with three other paediatricians, attended to the child.

Shivanya was then put on a ventilator for two weeks, and then on a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine for another two weeks. She was then fed with Latha's milk. However, Shivanya did not develop the ability to suckle. "Seven of us were taking care of the child as our own and treated her as special. So, we pumped the mother's milk and gave it to Shivanya using a gastric tube for two weeks. Then, Shivanya was introduced to her mother for breastfeeding eight weeks after she was delivered. Slowly and steadily, she gained weight and now weighs 2.2 kg," said N Maruvarasi, a staff nurse in the hospital

Shivanya was handed over to her parents in an emotional ceremony in the hospital on Friday. The rare feat has brought hope to other mothers they are in good care.

An Uber taxi driver allegedly beat up a 23-year-old software engineer after the two had an argument over the fare to Kempegowda International Airport. The incident took place at Hoodi on Wednesday evening, but the police are yet to arrest the driver as he is on the run.

The victim, Aneek Roy, who works in an IT firm at Whitefield, told the police that he had booked Uber’s Airport Pool from his apartment at Hoodi as he was going to Kolkata to be with his family for Dasara. “In his statement, he said when he started loading his luggage in the taxi, the driver, identified as Harish K.S., demanded that he pay the Uber Go fare in advance,” said a senior police officer.

Roy objected to this, pointing out that he had specifically booked a share ride. Harish allegedly refused to drop him and began insisting that he cancel the ride. Roy refused to cancel the ride, pointing out that he would be made to pay a cancellation fee. He threatened to raise a complaint against the driver on the app.

Enraged, Harish began to fling Roy’s bags from the car. Roy tried to explain that the bags contained breakable items — gifts he had bought for his family. “In a fit of rage, Harish punched Roy’s nose so hard that he started bleeding profusely,” said the police officer.

According to the victim, onlookers had gathered at the spot but no one tried to help him. Harish allegedly started kicking and punching Roy and abusing him. Finally, a shopkeeper intervened and convinced Harish to leave. He offered the injured software engineer some water.

‘Not allowed to fly’

As Roy was running late, he booked another taxi for the airport, but he was not allowed to fly as his nose was bleeding. He was taken to Manipal hospital, where he was diagnosed with nasal bone dislocation. After the procedure, Roy filed a complaint with the police before taking a flight to Kolkata on Thursday.

The Mahadevapura police have booked Harish under Section 341 (wrongful restraint), Section 323 (assault), and Section 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace). Efforts are on to track down Harish.

This is the second such incident in the last few days. The police recently arrested an Ola driver who had abandoned a female passenger on an isolated stretch of Begur Road after she insisted that he take the toll road on her way back from the airport.

Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao has warned taxi aggregators about ensuring that the drivers on their platform follow the rules and not misbehave with passengers.

When contacted, a spokesperson for Uber said the driver had been removed from the app. “We do not condone violence of any kind and our community guidelines clearly reject this kind of behaviour. The safety of our riders is paramount and upon learning of this incident, we removed the driver-partner’s access to the app.”
