ஓய்வூதியர்கள் கடைசியாக பணியாற்றிய அலுவலகத்திலோ பணிமனையிலோதங்களின் உயிர்வாழ் சான்றிதழ்களை வழங்கஉத்தரவிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.

தற்போது கொரோனா தொற்றின் இரண்டாம் அலை பரவுவதும் அது முதியோர் மற்றும்  குழந்தைகளை பெருமளவில் பாதிப்பதும் தெரியவந்துள்ளது. எனவே கொரோனா நோயின்  தாக்கம் கட்டுப்படுத்தப்பட்ட பின் உயிர் வாழ் சான்றிதழ்களை சமர்ப்பிக்க அனுமதிக்க

வேண்டும்.

சென்னை:ரேஷன் கடைகளில், 2,500 ரூபாய் அடங்கிய பொங்கல் பரிசு தொகுப்பு வாங்க, எந்த தேதி, நேரம் வர வேண்டும் என்ற விபரம் அடங்கிய, 'டோக்கன்' கார்டுதாரர்களின் வீடுகளில் வழங்கும் பணி, இன்று துவங்குகிறது.

தமிழக அரசு, பொங்கலை முன்னிட்டு, 2.10 கோடி அரிசி கார்டுதாரர்களுக்கு, தலா, 2,500 ரூபாய் ரொக்கத்துடன், பச்சரிசி, சர்க்கரை, முந்திரி, திராட்சை, ஏலம், கரும்பு, துணிப்பை அடங்கிய பரிசு தொகுப்பை அறிவித்துஉள்ளது. கொரோனா தொற்று பரவலை தடுக்கும் வகையில், ரேஷன் கடைகளுக்கு, கார்டுதாரர்கள் ஒரே சமயத்தில் கூட்டமாக வர, தடை விதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இதனால், பொங்கல் பரிசு வாங்க, எந்த தேதி, நேரத்திற்கு, கடைக்கு வர வேண்டும் என்ற விபரம் அடங்கிய டோக்கனை, கார்டுதாரர்களின் வீடுகளில், ரேஷன் ஊழியர்கள், இன்று முதல் வழங்க உள்ளனர். வரும், 30ம் தேதி வரை, டோக்கன் வழங்கப்படும். அதைத் தொடர்ந்து, ரேஷன் கடைகளில், பொங்கல் பரிசு தொகுப்பு, ஜன., 4 முதல், 13ம் தேதி வரை வழங்கப்பட உள்ளது.

இதற்கிடையில், பொங்கல் பரிசு தொகுப்பில் வழங்கப்பட உள்ள பொருட்கள் கொள்முதல், அவற்றை ரேஷன் கார்டுதாரர்களுக்கு வழங்குவது உள்ளிட்ட பணிகளை கண்காணிக்க, 14 கூடுதல் பதிவாளர்களை, கண்காணிப்பு அதிகாரிகளாக நியமித்து, கூட்டுறவு துறை உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளது.

சென்னை -- மதுரை இடையே, வாரத்தில் ஆறு நாட்கள் இயக்கப்பட்ட தேஜஸ் ரயில், கொரோனா ஊரடங்கால் ரத்து செய்யப்பட்டது. கொரோனா தளர்வுக்கு பின், அக்., 2ல் இருந்து, மீண்டும் இயக்கப்பட்டது.இந்த ரயில், எழும்பூரில் இருந்து காலை, 6:00 மணிக்கு புறப்படுவதால், பயணியர் அதிகம் வர முடியவில்லை. நேரம் மாற்றம் செய்ய வேண்டும் என, பயணியர் வலியுறுத்தினர்.

இதனால், அக்., 12ல் இருந்து, நேரம் மாற்றப்பட்டு, எழும்பூரில் இருந்து காலை, 6:30 மணிக்கு புறப்பட்டு, மதுரைக்கு நண்பகல், 12:50 மணிக்கு சென்றடைந்தது. மதுரையில் இருந்து, மாலை, 3:15 மணிக்கு புறப்பட்டு, இரவு, 9:30 மணிக்கு சென்னை எழும்பூர் வந்தடைந்தது. இந்நிலையிலும், இந்த ரயிலில் பயணியர் வருகை குறைந்ததால், இருவழியிலும், ஜன., 4 முதல் ரத்து செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது.

A motor accidents claims tribunal has directed an insurance firm to pay ₹23 lakh to the family of a victim who was killed after a rashly driven truck hit a mini-van on GST road.

The family of the victim, Vembarasan, moved the tribunal seeking a compensation of ₹65 lakh. According to the petition moved by his wife, Elavarasi, the victim was driving his van along the GST road near Melavalampettai near Kancheepuram when a rashly driven truck coming from the opposite direction ran over the median and hit the van.

Vembarasan sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot. The insurer of the truck contended that the accident happened due to the negligence of the van driver and argued that they cannot be held liable to compensate the victim.

The tribunal, after perusing both sides, noted eyewitness statements which pointed out that the accident happened due to the rash driving by the truck driver and the FIR too backed the witness statements. The postmortem report showed that Vembarasan died due to the injuries sustained in the accident andhencethefamily should be compensated, the tribunal held.

The victim was aged 32 at the time of the accident and his earnings were only through his van.

Considering the age of the victim, future prospects, loss of dependency, loss of love and affecion for the family members and other factors, the tribunal arrived at an amount of ₹23 lakh as compensation.

Out of the total amount, the wife of the victim is entitled for ₹9.2 lakh and hisminor son and daughter of the victim are entitled for ₹6.9 lakh each, the tribunal ruled.

A maritime college student hailing from Bihar was stabbed to death by a few collegemates using a broken plastic scale during a Christmas eve party at the college hostel in Vellavedu near Tiruvallur early on Friday.

Police said Aditya Sharma, 20, and a few final year students of the maritime academy were at a Christmas eve party held on the sixth floor corridor of their hostel building when a fight broke out between the students. In minutes, one of them stabbed Aditya Sharma in the neck with the sharp edge of a broken plastic scale, leaving him in a pool of blood. “He suffered excessive blood loss and was rushed to a hospital nearby, where doctors declared him brought dead,” a police officer said.

The Vellavedu police have registered a case and are probing the murder. The hostel houses 171 students and police are questioning all 170 since early morning on Friday. Thirty of them had attended the party. An investigation officer said they have filtered out seven of the students. “No one is giving clear information about what happened.” While the hostel has CCTV cameras installed, there were none in the corridor where the crime took place.

The CB-CID police have registered a case to find the whereabouts of ₹30 crore worth gold that went missing from CBI custody, two weeks after the Madras high court directed it probe and wrap up the case within six months.

The 103.9kg gold that is missing was part of gold bars weighing a collective 400.5kg seized by the CBI in 2012 when it raided premises of gold importer Surana Corporation Limited in Chennai. The raids were the result of a case against the officials of Metals and Minerals Trading Corporation (MMTC) for favouring the importer. Following the seizure and registration of a case, the seized valuables were deposited in vaults belonging to the corporation and the premises were locked and sealed by the CBI.

The accused corporation filed for insolvency subsequently following dues it owed State Bank of India and C Ramasubramaniam, a liquidator, was brought in to mediate and settle the debts. A special court in 2017 ordered that the seized gold be transferred to SBI and in the process, it was weighed and found to amount to only 296.1kg. The CBI, when asked about the discrepancy, said it had deposited keys to the 72 vaults with the gold to Chennai principal special court for CBI cases. It further stated that the gold bars were weighed together during the seizure and amounted to 400.5kg, but that they were weighed individually during the liquidation process, giving room to discrepancies.

Based on a complaint by Ramasubramaniam, the CBCID has registered a case under Section 380 (night burglary) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Actor Rajinikanth was admitted to Apollo Hospitals in Hyderabad on Friday morning following ‘severe fluctuations in his blood pressure.’ He is stable.

“Though he did not have any symptoms of Covid-19, his blood pressure showed severe fluctuations and needed further evaluation for which he has been admitted,” the hospital said in a statement. He will be investigated and monitored closely till his pressure settles down before being discharged. TNN

Fans offer prayers for Rajinikanth

Apart from fluctuating blood pressure and exhaustion he does not have any other symptoms and is hemodynamically stable,” the statement said.

Rajinikanth had gone to Hyderabad on December 13 for the shooting of his latest film ‘Annaatthe’ which resumed on December 14 at Ramoji Film City after a long break due to the Covid-19 induced lockdown. Earlier this week, the shooting was postponed indefinitely after four members of the crew tested positive for Covid-19. Though Rajinikanth tested negative, he isolated himself and was monitored closely by a team from the hospital.

As news spread about Rajinikanth getting admitted to the hospital, fans offered prayers for his safe return to the city. Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu wished the actor speedy recovery. DMK chief M K Stalin inquired about the actor’s health over phone.
