சிறு சேமிப்பு திட்டங்களுக்கான வட்டி விகிதம், காலாண்டுக்கு ஒருதடவை மாற்றி அமைக்கப்படுகிறது. அதன்படி, வருகிற ஜனவரி முதல் மார்ச் மாதம் வரையிலான காலாண்டுக்கான வட்டி விகிதத்தை மத்திய நிதி அமைச்சகம் நேற்று அறிவித்தது.

தேசிய சிறு சேமிப்பு திட்டம், பொது வைப்பு நிதி ஆகியவற்றுக்கான வட்டி, 0.2 சதவீதம் குறைக்கப்பட்டு, 7.6 சதவீதமாக நிர்ணயிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. கிசான் விகாஸ் பத்திரத்துக்கான வட்டி விகிதமும் 0.2 சதவீதம் குறைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. பெண் குழந்தைகளுக்கான ‘செல்வ மகள்’ திட்டத்தின் வட்டி, 8.3 சதவீதத்தில் இருந்து 8.1 சதவீதமாக குறைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

5 ஆண்டுகால டெபாசிட்டுக்கான வட்டி, 6.9 சதவீதமாக குறைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இருப்பினும், மூத்த குடிமக்களுக்கான 5 ஆண்டுகால சேமிப்பு திட்ட வட்டி 8.3 சதவீதமாகவும், சேமிப்பு கணக்குக்கான ஆண்டு வட்டி 4 சதவீதமாகவும் நீடிக்கிறது.

இந்த வட்டி குறைப்பு அடிப்படையில், வங்கிகளும் டெபாசிட் மீதான வட்டியை குறைக்கும் என்று கருதப்படுகிறது.

இருப்பினும், அந்த குழந்தைகள், பாஸ்போர்ட்டில் அச்சிடுவதற்கான புகைப்படம் எடுப்பதற்காக பாஸ்போர்ட் அலுவலகத்துக்கு நேரில் வர வேண்டும் என்றும் அவர் கூறினார்.

71.24 crore mobile connections linked with Aadhaar: IT Minister

NEW DELHI: Close to 71.24 crore mobile numbers - both new connections and existing - and 82 crore bank accounts have been linked with 12-digit biometric identifier Aadhaar, the Rajya Sabha has been informed.

"Linking of Aadhaar with personal bank accounts is being done based on the amendments that have been effected in the Prevention of Money Laundering Rules 2005. Linking of Aadhaar with mobile number has been effected in pursuance of...Supreme Court order dated February 6, 2017," Minister for Electronics and IT, Ravi Shankar Prasad has said.

Prasad further said: "As on December 8, 2017, 71.24 crore mobile numbers (new and re-verified) and 82 crore bank accounts have been linked with Aadhaar." The Aadhaar based re-verification of existing mobile subscribers is expected to be carried out by telcos by March 31, 2018, Prasad said in the reply dated December 22, 2017.

CBI programmer arrested for developing software that ‘duped’ IRCTC’s Tatkal ticket booking system

The CBI has arrested an assistant programmer working with the probe agency and another person for developing and selling a software for booking railway tickets by “duping the Tatkal ticket booking system”, an official said on Wednesday.

Ajay Garg, 35, was held from Delhi on Tuesday night when the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) got information about its employee indulging in the racket with the help of Anil Kumar Gupta. Garg was on Wednesday presented before a special court in Saket, which sent him to five-day CBI custody.

Gupta was held from his residence in Jaunpur late on Tuesday night and is to be brought to Delhi on transit remand, CBI spokesperson Abhishek Dayal said.

During the night-long operation, the CBI conducted raids at 14 locations in Delhi, Mumbai and Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh which led to the recovery of Rs 89.42 lakh cash, gold jewellery worth Rs 61.29 lakh, including two gold bars of one kg each, 15 laptops, 15 hard disks, 52 mobile phones, 24 sim cards, 10 notebooks, six routers, four dongles and 19 pen drives along with some incriminating material from the premises of the accused and others.

“It was alleged that Garg had developed one illicit software for duping the Tatkal ticket booking system being run by the IRCTC and conspired with a private person Anil Kumar Gupta. They indulged in distributing the software to private persons for their unauthorised use for a hefty consideration,” the CBI official said.

The official said that “use of such software is illegal as per rules and regulations of IRCTC and also under the Railways Act.”

“It was also alleged that Garg was collecting money for the use of such software by certain booking agents and had amassed huge wealth from these activities. The case is in the line with CBI director Alok Kumar Verma’s policy of having an robust internal mechanism of ensuring probity and having zero tolerance towards corruption,” Dayal said.

The official, however, clarified that there was no loss to the IRCTC in the racket, but it was in another way a loss to the public who could not get tickets while trying to book it online.

The official said that as many as 10 agents, seven from Jaunpur and three from Mumbai, have also been identified.

Three docs shown door over absenteeism

Facing flak for some time for the worsening medical service at the premier government-run facility in the provisional State capital, the administration of Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) has terminated services of three doctors for abstaining from their duties for a long time.

Those whose services were terminated were the Senior Resident (SR) Surgery, Dr Udai Baluni and Junior Residents (JR) Dr Gopal of paediatrics department and Dr Ankit of ENT department. The step taken by the Principal of the college Dr Pradip Bharati Gupta came after the trio failed to explain their prolonged absence from duty despite being served with letters some days ago, asking them to explain their absenteeism.

Soon after the announcement of the action, Dr Gupta said that all efforts are being made to better facilities at the largest hospital of the state where thousands throng daily from across the State. He informed that two ventilators of the Sick Neonatal Care Unit (SNCU) of the female wing of the hospital would soon be repaired. These machines, installed in 2011 on a five year free maintenance condition, developed fault in November 2016, a month before the end of the five- year contract. Despite the hospital authorities having informed the company about the fault the machines have developed, the company which supplied them did nothing to repair them. The Medical College administration has now warned the company to either repair these machines or face action. The Principal said that the engineers of the company Medion AG would soon visit the hospital and repair them. In absence of these machines, SNCU ward of the hospital has been functioning on just one ventilator.

The Principal further informed that the repair of the mortuary freezer has been completed. Many guards have been recruited recently and now every OPD would be manned by one of them, he said, adding that the head of the department of psychiatry Colonel Dr JS Rana (Rtd) would now directly deal with the entire security arrangement of the hospital.

Observers say that the corrective stern action was long overdue. “The GDMC administration despite facing flak over the crumbling medical service of the largest hospital of the state kept dragging its feet for some unknown reasons. They finally acted after being prodded by the secretary health Nitesh Jha who visited the hospital recently and directed the authorities to improve things without any further delay,” says an observer. Subsequently, the Principal of the College, Dr Gupta took things under his control and embarked on the course correction which is now showing good results on the ground.

அரசியலுக்கு வருவதாக ரஜினிகாந்த் நிச்சயம் அறிவிக்க மாட்டார். ரசிகர்களுடனான சந்திப்பை உற்சாகப்படுத்தவே இதுபோன்று அவர் பேசியுள்ளார். தமிழகத்தில் தற்போதுள்ள சூழலுக்கும், ரஜினியின் குணத்துக்கும் அவர் அரசியலுக்கு வருவது சரியாக இருக்காது. அவரால் அரசியலில் வெற்றி பெறவும் முடியாது. 1996-ல் மிக அருமையான வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்தது. இதன் பின்னரும் சில வாய்ப்புகள் தேடி வந்தன. இதையெல்லாம் பயன்படுத்த தவறிவிட்டார். தமிழருவி மணியனை அடிக்கடி சந்திப்பதாலும் அரசியல் குறித்து கருத்து தெரிவிப்பதாலும் அவர் அரசியலுக்கு வந்துவிடுவாரோ என்ற மாயை மட்டுமே உருவாகியுள்ளது.

ரஜினிகாந்த் அரசியலுக்கு வர மாட்டாரா என ஆண்டுக்கணக்கில் ஏங்கி காத்திருந்தோம். அந்த காலகட்டத்தில், அவர் அதற்கான எந்த முயற்சியுமே எடுக்கவில்லை. இப்போது அவர் அரசியலுக்கு வர வாய்ப்புள்ளதாக தெரிகிறது. ஆனால், இங்குள்ள அரசியல் சூழ்நிலை அதற்கு உகந்ததாக இல்லை.

அவருக்கு எதிராக அரசியல் ரீதியான விமர்சனங்களை வைப்பதைவிட, தனிமனித தாக்குதலில் ஈடுபட்டு பெயர், புகழை கெடுப்பதற்காக இங்கு பெரும்கூட்டம் தயாராக உள்ளது. அவர்களுக்கு இரையாகிவிடக்கூடாது. அத்துடன் மாவட்டந்தோறும் ரசிகர் மன்றங்கள் 2, 3 பிரிவுகளாக பிரிந்து கிடக்கின்றன. அனைவருக்குமே பதவி ஆசை உள்ளது.

எனவே, என்னைப் பொறுத்தவரை ரஜினிகாந்த் அரசியலுக்கு வராமல் இருப்பதே நல்லது. மீறி வந்தால், கடந்த 40 ஆண்டு காலமாக திரையுலகில் சம்பாதித்து வைத்துள்ள நற்பெயரை, அரசியல் என்னும் சாக்கடை மூலம் கெடுத்துவிட நேரிடலாம். ரஜினியை நாங்கள் தலைவராக காட்டிலும், கடவுள் மாதிரியே பார்க்கிறோம். அவர் இப்படியே இருந்துவிட வேண்டும், அரசியலுக்கு வர வேண்டாம் என்பது என் விருப்பம்.
