சென்னை: தொடா் மழை காரணமாக சென்னைப் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் கீழ் இயங்கி வரும் கலை-அறிவியல் கல்லூரிகளில் படிக்கும் மாணவா்களுக்கு நாளை திங்கள்கிழமை (டிச.2) நடத்தப்பட இருந்த தோ்வுகள் ஒத்திவைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.

இதுதொடர்பாக பல்கலைக்கழக நிர்வாகம் வெளியிட்டுள்ள அறிவிப்பில், காஞ்சிபுரம், திருவள்ளூா் மாவட்ட கலை-அறிவியல் கல்லூரிகள் சென்னைப் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் கீழ் வருவதாலும், பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் கீழ் இயங்கி வரும் அனைத்து இணைப்பு கல்லூரிகளுக்கும் நாளை திங்கள்கிழமை (டிச.2) நடத்தப்பட இருந்த பருவத் தோ்வுகளை ஒத்திவைக்கப்படுகிறது.

ஒத்திவைக்கப்பட்ட இந்தத் தோ்வுகளுக்கான மாற்றுத் தேதி பின்னா் அறிவிக்கப்படும் எனவும் பல்கலைக்கழக நிர்வாக அறிவிப்பில் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

சென்னை: தொடர் மழை காரணமாக நாளை நடைபெற இருந்த அண்ணா பல்கலை அனைத்து தேர்வுகளும் ஒத்திவைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.

இதுதொடர்பாக அண்ணா பல்கலைக்கழக நிர்வாகம் வெளியிட்டுள்ள அறிவிப்பில், தமிழகம் முழுவதும் தொடர்ந்து கனமழை பெய்து வருவதை அடுத்து நாளை நடைபெற இருந்த அண்ணா பல்கலை அனைத்து தேர்வுகளும் ஒத்திவைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

Neet exam: Burkha, kirpan now allowed

‘Hijab’, ‘burkha’, ‘kara’ and ‘kirpan’ will be allowed in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-UG to be conducted on May 3, 2020. However, candidates wearing such dresses or carrying metallic items will have to report at the designated centres at least an hour before the gate closing time.

In case candidates wear anything in deviation of the dress code or carry any assistive devices for medical reasons, they will be required to take prior approval before admit cards are issued.

This and many other measures — Artificial Intelligence to detect attempts of impersonation/fraud, uploading of an additional ‘postcard size’ photograph and Class X and XII roll numbers and certificates — are being put in place by the National Testing Agency (NTA) as the registration process for the medical/dental entrance test gets underway on Monday. While candidates are being allowed to wear customary/cultural dresses such as hijab, burkha, kara or kirpan, the NTA has introduced certain rules as well. The exam will commence at 2 pm and the gates will close at 12.30 pm. “These candidates will have to report at the designated centres at least 60 minutes before the gate closing time,” an NTA official said.

“Light clothes with long sleeves are not permitted. However in case candidates come in cultural/customary dress at the examination centre, they should report at least an hour before the last reporting time, ie, 12.30 pm,” the bulletin to be issued on Monday says.

“In case of any deviation required due to unavoidable (medical etc) circumstances, specific approval of NTA must be taken before the admit cards are issued,” the bulletin says. “These special exemptions approved by NTA will be mentioned in the admit cards,” the NTA official said.

Pay gratuity to ex-staff by Dec 31, HC tells TNSTC

Madras high court has fixed December 31 as the deadline for TNSTC Tirunelveli division to comply with an earlier order of the court asking it to pay settlement benefits to a retired employee.

Justice S Vaidyanathan passed the order while hearing the contempt petition filed by S Piramanayagam, a retired employee from Tirunelveli.

The judge observed that since the petitioner had sought the relief of settlement benefits, the general manager of TNSTC was bound to pay it.

The court expressed displeasure at the inaction of Tirunelveli district collector and Palayamkottai tahsildar in this regard.

“When there is an order passed by this court, they should have attached the property which would have forced the TNSTC management to approach the court seeking a clarification or for the disbursal of the amount,” observed the judge.

Justice Vaidyanathan also pulled up the TNSTC management for not properly instructing the counsel appearing on its behalf to place correct information before the court.

The judge said he was giving one more opportunity to the TNSTC management by granting time till December 31 to pay the gratuity amount to the petitioner with interest of 10% per annum, after adjusting the amount already paid.

The court directed that if the amount is not paid, the Tirunelveli district collector and Palayamkottai tahsildar should attach the property of TNSTC on January 1, 2020, failing which statutory notice would be issued to the authorities concerned.
