HC permits Kushboo to go abroad

The Madras High Court Bench here on Wednesday gave permission to actor and Congress spokesperson Kushboo to go on a vacation to Europe between April 28 and May 14. Justice P.N. Prakash granted the permission following a sub-application filed by the actor in a petition already pending before the court to quash a few cases pending against her.
According to the petitioner, the principal seat of the High Court in Chennai had on February 28 directed the passport authorities to provide her a new passport since the pages in her old passport had been exhausted. However, that direction was given on condition that she should obtain prior permission from the Madurai Bench before going on foreign trips.
Pointing out that all the cases against her were filed when she campaigned for the Assembly elections in Theni and Dindigul districts in May 2011, the actor said that the High Court Bench here had already stayed all further proceedings in most of those cases.
