Paying Rs 50,000 rent? Deduct 5% as TDS





From June 1, individuals paying a rent of over `50,000 a month are required to deduct tax at source at 5%. Section 194-IB in Income-Tax Act has widened the scope of withholding tax by making a tenant also responsible for deducting tax at source on rental payments.
