‘Little girls don’t know what rape is, can’t resist’

After Raping Seven-Year-Old, He Decided To Hunt For More

TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Ahmedabad:09.11.2021

Vijay Thakor, the man arrested by Gandhinagar police for allegedly raping three minor girls and murdering one of them, told police that he stalked little girls as they did not know about rape and would not even be able to say what had happened to them.

He said he targeted small girls because they could not resist. He said he realized this after he raped the first girl, seven years old, who he overpowered easily and no one even found out about his crime.

“The accused targeted small girls as they could not resist and he felt they would also not be able to tell anyone,” an investigator said.

He said that Thakor has a six-yearold daughter and his wife is seven months pregnant. For the past 15 days he could not have sex with his wife and decided to hunt for small girls.

“When he raped the first girl ten days ago, she could not resist and nor did anyone find out about the incident, so he felt emboldened and decided to hunt for more,” said the cop.

On Diwali day, he lured away a five-year-old girl with the promise of new clothes, raped her and dumped her.

“He was further emboldened and thought he could keep hunting for such girls,” said a cop.

The police officer said there was garba organized in a village near his on the night of New Year’s, November 6.

“He saw some young girls doing garba and then went looking for his next target. He roamed about in a few villages but people were awake due to the festival. He only found a sleeping tribal family of about eight near Santej Crossroads. Thakor saw the three-year-old girl sleeping next to her five-year-old brother and picked her up,” said the police officer.

He took the girl to a secluded place but as she woke up, he pressed her mouth and nose for around a minute after which she stopped moving. “The girl may have died by itself. Thakor then raped her, or more likely her body,” said a police officer.

When he was caught, he told the cops that after raping the body, he duped her in the culvert where she was found on Sunday.

Over the past two years, there has been a steep rise in senior citizens becoming easy targets of cybercrooks. These criminals approach the elderly while pretending to offer tech support, or governmental assistance and services or even bait them with online friendship requests which turn in to blackmail. The cybercrime department, like in Delhi, Bangalore, and Hyderabad, should initiate targeted campaigns to raise awareness among senior citizens and arm them with simple strategies to avoid falling into such traps and losing their hard-earned money.

CHENNAI: A 23-year-old woman who allegedly killed a man to protect herself from an attempted rape was let go by the police on grounds that she had acted only in self-defence. The police said the woman, a mother of two, was struggling to free herself from the clutches of the deceased when she pushed him.

The man, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, is believed to have hit his head against a rock and died on the spot. After preliminary inquiries pointed that the woman had only acted in her self-defence, Tiruvallur police invoked section 100 of the IPC (right of private defence) and released her on station bail.

According to the police, the locals reported a man found dead in a fish farm near Minjur on Wednesday afternoon. His body was retrieved and sent to the Tiruvallur Government Hospital for post-mortem. A case of suspicious death under Section 174 of CrPC was registered. From his appearances, police suggested that he could be a migrant worker. On investigation, it was found that the man had been stalking one Lakshmi (name changed).

Woman kills rapist in self-defence

The woman lived with her husband and two children in a small room-like structure in the property and the family was employed at the fish farm. A senior police officer said,

“On Wednesday, the man sneaked into the farm, allegedly gagged the woman and dragged her to a secluded place in the farm where he tried to force himself on her.” As the man held her from behind, Lakshmi pushed him, following which he slipped, and hit a rock on the ground. The ground was slippery from rain the previous night.

When the man fainted, Lakshmi dragged the body and dumped it on the roadside, after which she returned to the farm and informed her husband. He and other workers rushed to see the man only to find villagers standing around the man lying unconscious.

On information, the Minjur police rushed to the spot, and alerted the ambulance. He was confirmed dead due to concussion by the para-medic staff. Inspector Vadivel Murugan said, “We inquired about the suspect in the neighbourhood and they had spotted him for a couple of days in the area. But the residents confirmed that he was not employed in any company there.”

Earlier in January this year, police had invoked the same section to allow a 19-year-old woman to walk free after she killed a man who attempted to rape her.

How Blood On Fridge Led Cops To Killers

72-YR-OLD’S MURDER: Couple Thoroughly Cleaned House Several Times To Wipe Away Signs Of Crime

TIMES NEWS NETWORK

New Delhi: 15.07.2021

The young couple that was arrested by Dwarka district cops for the gruesome murder of a 72-year-old woman had almost got away with it.

After strangling the woman and hacking her body into three parts, the suspects, Tanu and Anil Arya, thoroughly cleaned the entire house multiple times to wipe away any signs of the crime. However, a few drops of the victim’s blood had splashed onto the fridge, which the couple failed to notice and eventually led police to them.

The investigation, which TOI had reported on Wednesday, revealed that the elderly woman, Kavita, was murdered on June 30 and the couple disposed of the body parts on July 1 in Najafgarh drain.

Confident that they had not left any trails, the couple stayed put in their house till July 3 to thwart any suspicion on them. When Kavita’s son and daughter-in-law returned from their hometown, they lodged a missing complaint on not finding her at home. This was when the accused couple left for their hometown.

Initially, it was believed that Kavita may have gone somewhere, but after minutely checking the house police discovered the blood drops on the fridge. Though they became suspicious of a mishap, they could only file an FIR of abduction on July 6-7 in the absence of a body.

Soon, police stumbled upon two leads. CCTV footage from an adjacent house showed the couple entering the house and exiting with trolley bags. When cops looked around for the couple, they found their house locked. They then became the prime suspects. Technical surveillance and inquiries ended in the couple being caught from their hometown.

Police said they had recovered a part of the body and suspect that the rest either got dispersed with the flow of the water or may have been eaten by animals.

On Wednesday, Tanu blamed her event manager husband for the crime and claimed innocence while talking to reporters. “I haven’t killed anyone. After killing Kavita, my husband tried to kill me and my daughter too. He has assaulted me several times. I kept quiet fearing for mine and my daughter’s life,” she claimed.

However, police said they had ample evidence of her involvement in the murder. Cops said the couple owed Kavita Rs 1 lakh and were unable to return it due to financial crisis. Therefore, they planned to kill her. When her son and his wife were away, they went to her house on the pretext of returning the money and strangled her to death. They then hacked the body into pieces, packed it in bags and dumped them in Najafgarh drain.

A 21-year- old man has been arrested for allegedly cheating over 200 shopkeepers using a PayTM clone, making the victims believe he paid them, the police said on Saturday.

DCP (South-West) Ingit Pratap Singh said the accused has been identified as Kunal Sharma alias Sonu from Uttam Nagar.

The case came to the fore when a general store owner in Palam Village, Ramesh Kumar, complained to the police that on May 20, a man came to his shop to buy refined oil for ₹2,560.

During payment, the man allegedly told the victim that he is not carrying cash and asked if he accepted payment via Paytm.

Next, Mr. Kumar gave him his Paytm QR code for scanning. The accused told Mr. Kumar that his mobile phone camera was broken, and he would pay him using the victim’s number on Paytm.

“Then the accused took the shopkeeper’s mobile number and entered it in the spoof app. Next, a notification similar to that of Paytm flashed on the accused’ mobile screen which he showed to Mr. Kumar,” the officer said, adding that the complainant got an impression that the payment was done. The accused also forwarded a pre-drafted message regarding his payment to the complainant.

A probe was taken up and Sharma was arrested. During interrogation, he allegedly told the police that he has cheated more than 200 shopkeepers this way.

How tech foiled MBBS’ cheating bid

How tech foiled MBBS’ cheating bid

TNN | Mar 13, 2021, 04.58 AM IST

NEW DELHI: After failing to clear the examination to enrol as a doctor in India six times in a row, 35-year-old Manohar Singh decided to use a proxy candidate to pass the test. He almost got away with it, but got caught when the face detection system flagged the difference in the photograph of the exam writer and Singh.

DCP (Southeast) RP Meena said the accused has been arrested and his degree seized. The paper writer has been identified, but is absconding. A manhunt is on to arrest him.

Singh had completed MBBS from Tajik State Medical University in Tajikistan. A probe revealed that he had hired a doctor for Rs 4 lakh to appear on his behalf for the exam.

While the doctor successfully wrote the paper, Singh’s result was frozen due to mismatch of his face ID captured on the examination day with the photo in the application form. He was later called in for verification in person and the mismatch persisted. The board then asked him questions from the exam paper, which he failed to answer.

National Board of Examinations (NBE), an autonomous body under Union ministry of health, was formed to standardise postgraduate medical education and examination in India. The board conducts Foreign Medical Examination (FME), which is a licentiate examination for Indian or overseas citizens who have completed primary medical qualification from other countries. Foreign medical graduates need to qualify FMGE to get registered with Indian Medical Council.

On March 11, two officials from the board approached police with a complaint regarding Singh’s alleged impersonation. “The FMGE screening test was conducted on December 4, 2020. Singh’s centre was at Mathura Road. After the mismatch was detected, he was called for verification of the face ID on February 3, but he did not come. On March 10, he finally visited and the board caught him,” stated their police complaint.

The accused was arrested and his admit card, MBBS degree and application form were seized. During interrogation, he confessed to hiring a doctor to take the exam in his place for a fee. A chargesheet will soon be filed against Singh, said an officer.

Elderly couple get 10 years’ RI for sexual assault of 4-year-old

Rebecca.Samervel@timesgroup.com

Mumbai:11.03.2021

In a rare instance, a now 81-year-old woman and her 87-year-old husband were found guilty of the 2013 sexually assault of their 4-year-old neighbour and sentenced to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment. This is probably thefirst case in the city where a woman has been found guilty for such a crime under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. The special Pocso court relied on testimonies of the child and her mother, and medical evidence.

Special judge Rekha N Pandhare ordered the accused to pay Rs50,000 each to the child as compensation within a month. The court observed that the victim being a child and the accused being of the age of her grandparents, were supposed to take care of her. Instead, they sexually assaulted her, the court ruled.

In the trial by special public prosecutors Veena Shelar and Geeta Nayyar, seven witnesses deposed. The child was eight at the time of deposition.

In a statement to police, the child said she returned from school at 10am on September 4, 2013. She had something to eat, watched cartoons on TV and at noon went to the fourth floor of her building to play with a friend. The child said that as her friend was sleeping, she decided to return home. She said at that time, the accused, whom she referred to as ‘dada’ and ‘daadi’ (grandfather and grandmother), called out to her.

The child said when she went to the man, he carried her and took her into the house. He made her sit on the swing but he slapped her when she tried to leave. The child alleged that while the woman held her, the man undressed her and sexually assaulted her. The woman repeated the act. She said once again, when she tried to run, the man spat on her face. The child said she got afraid and after the accused let her go, she dressed up and ran home.

The child’s mother had told police that after she returned from work and finished household chores, at10pm she tried to put the child to bed. The mother said the child said she wanted to tell her something and pleaded with her not to scold her. After the mother assured the child, she confided in her about the incident. The mother said she checked the child’s private parts and found inflammation. The mother informed the father and complained to police. The accused was arrested the next day.

Despite being ablaze, the teenager grappled with him, burning him in the process. Injured, Porte ran out of the house before the girl’s family members could understand what was going on. They doused the fire but by then she had suffered 50% burns. She was taken to hospital where she is in a critical condition.

Police traced Porte through his mobile phone location and arrested him. He has suffered 25% burns and was admitted to hospital, say sources. After working on a farm in UP’s Bulandshahr last Thursday with her mother and elder sister all day, the14-year-old girl was exhausted. She wanted water. The girl had a mild speech impairment, stammering while she spoke, but she knew a family that lived nearby.

After she entered the house, the girl was allegedly raped and strangled by Harendra (22), a labourer, when she tried to resist, and dumped in a pit. Five days later when police went to question him, they found the house locked. A cop scaled the wall and landed on loose, soft mud. When they dug a little deep, they found the girl’s body — naked, strangled and brutalised, reports Sandeep Rai.

Harendra was arrested from Shimla, where he had fled, on Wednesday.

Accused held from Shimla, admits to crime

Last Thursday, when the girl didn’t return home in two hours, her mother and sister went looking for her. Harendra was found lying inebriated on a cot. No one else was home. They couldn’t find out much. They again went to Harendra’s house on Sunday. It was locked.

Her father, a marginal farmer, then approached the Anupshahr police station to register a missing person case. On Tuesday, police took him along to question Harendra. “He worked as a labourer in Delhi and had come for a few days,” Anupshahr SHO Ram Sen Singh said. No one answered the door. One cop scaled the wall to enter the premises. By this time, Harendra had fled. “We detained his father and put Harendra’s number under surveillance,” he said. “It turned out he was in Shimla.” A police team was sent from UP to arrest him. Police said he was arrested on Wednesday, adding that he has confessed to the murder.

The victim, Jaideepsinh Parmar, who lives in Bavla, lodged a complaint at Bodeli police station as the unidentified tantric and his two accomplices, Shankar and Abdul, fled with Rs 5.5 lakh which Parmar and his cousin Dhanrajsinh had given.

Dhanrajsinh had learnt from his two friends, Sahil and Manish, that a tantric who has an ashram in Chhota Udepur doubles money by performing some rituals. The four went to the ashram on February 17 along with Abdul and Shankar and initially gave Rs 2.5 lakh cash. The tantric kept the cash in a steel case and after the rituals gave the case to Parmar with instructions to not open it until told. After the rituals got over late in the night on February 17, the tantric asked them to return home.

On February 20, the tantric called Dhanrajsinh to inform that the money will be doubled only after 11 days, but if he wanted immediate results, then he should give Rs 3 lakh cash more. When Dhanrajsinh informed Parmar about it they went to a temple in Bodeli on February 22 where they gave the cash for rituals. The tantric abruptly stopped the rituals when a PCR van stopped outside the temple and he and Abdul fled with the cash.

Parmar said that he initially did not realize what had transpired, but when he opened the steel case which the tantric had given, he could not find the cash but only a coconut in it. Parmar realized that the tantric had conned him. On Tuesday he lodged a complaint of cheating against the tantric, Shankar and Abdul.

“The PCR van was coincidentally passing by the temple but the tantric got scared and fled. We are questioning the complainant’s friends about the tantric’s two accomplices,” said subinspector A S Sarvaiya of Bodeli police station.
