KGMU starts clinic for L GBTQ patients

Lucknow : King George's Medical University (KGMU) launched a special clinic for LGBTQ patients on Thursday called the Rainbow Clinic. It aims to provide complete healthcare services under one roof. Dr D Himanshu, a faculty member in the medicine department and incharge of the ART Centre at KGMU, shared that the clinic's first OPD session offered consultations and counselling to patients. The Rainbow Clinic will operate from 11 am to 1 pm, with specialists from various departments providing healthcare support. This integrated facility combines services such as general medicine, dermatology, psychiatric care, gastroenterology, endocrine medicine, plastic surgery, and infectious disease management. It also includes counselling and medicine distribution services. The launch event was attended by Dr. Swastika (Dermatology), Dr. Vijay Kumar (Head of Plastic Surgery), Dr. Medhavi Gautam (Medicine), Dr. Abhinav Lodhi (Gastroenterology and Psychiatry), and Dr. Suman Shukla (ART Centre). Representatives from organisations like PATH, CDS, HEWS, NAZ Foundation, and Bharosa Foundation also participated in the event. Dr Himanshu emphasised that the clinic provides a safe and inclusive environment for LGBTQ patients, ensuring access to comprehensive care without fear or discrimination.
