இதைத் தொடர்ந்து தமிழக அரசு அறிவித்த தளர்வுகளின் அடிப்படையில் செப்.1 முதல்தமிழகம் முழுவதும் அனைத்துகோயில்களும் திறக்கப்பட்டன. வடபழனி முருகன் கோயில், மயிலாப்பூர் கபாலீஸ்வரர் கோயில், திருவொற்றியூர் தியாகராஜ சுவாமி கோயில் உள்ளிட்டகோயில்களின் இணையதளத்தில் பக்தர்கள் தரிசனத்துக்கு முன்பதிவு செய்யும் வசதி அறிமுகப்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இணையதளத்தில் பக்தர்கள் ஆதார் அட்டை விவரத்தை கட்டாயம் பதிவு செய்ய வேண்டும் என்று தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.இணையதளத்தில் பதிவு செய்பவர்களுக்கு தரிசன நாள், நேரம்குறுந்தகவலாக அனுப்பப்படுகிறது. இந்த வசதியைப் பயன்படுத்தி பக்தர்கள் சுவாமி தரிசனம் செய்து வருகின்றனர். இதுதவிர, இணையதளத்தில் பதிவுசெய்யாமல் நேரில் வரும் பக்தர்களுக்கு டோக்கன் வழங்கப்படுகிறது. டோக்கனை பெற்றும் சுவாமி தரிசனம் செய்து வருகின்றனர்.

In a sudden turn of events, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has resolved to temporarily suspend the issuance of ‘sarva darshan’ (free darshan) tokens from Sunday.

The decision is believed to have been taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 at Tirumala, where the annual Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara are scheduled to take off from September 19.

No darshan tokens will be issued at the TTD counters in Tirupati till September 30.

Vijayawada: In a big step towards ensuring transparency in its functioning, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) trust board on Thursday decided to entrust the annual audit of the temple body’s accounts to the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) from 2020-21.

TTD trust board chairman YV Subba Reddy said in a release that the move will ensure more transparency in auditing while upholding the belief of millions of devotees and donors of Lord Venkateswara. Rajya Sabha MP Subramanyam Swamy had earlier moved the court, seeking timely external audit of the temple body’s accounts.

“By taking into consideration the spirit of criticism in the matter, we have resolved to get the audit done by the CAG. We feel there is a need to instill full faith of pilgrims and donors in the accounting and audit systems of TTD,” Subba Reddy said.

Till now, the temple’s annual audit was being done by the state audit department. The CAG may take over the audit of TTD from 2020-21 as the audit for 2014-15 to 2019-20 has already been completed by the state audit department. Government may also be asked to request the CAG to also undertake a special audit of the previous years and furnish its report within six months. The trust board’s resolution shall be intimated to high court by filing an appropriate affidavit in the matter, Subba Reddy added.

The famous Dwarkadhish temple of Lord Krishna will remain closed for four days from August 10 to August 13 to avoid heavy rush of devotees for Janmashtami.

Lakhs of people throng the temple town for Krishna Janm on the day of the festival and they start trooping in a day before. Devbhumi Dwarka district collector NK Meena, who issued a notification in this regard on Thursday, said, it’s not possible to control the massive rush even with pass systems. “With passes, we can only accommodate 10,000 devotees in a day.”

Though the temple will remain closed, prayers will be performed inside and the entire ritual will be streamed live on the social media. There are total 97 Covid-19 positive cases in the district out of which eight are reported in Dwarka town.

கொரோனா ஊரடங்கால் மாசி மாத பூஜைகளுக்கு பின் சன்னிதானத்துக்கு பக்தர்கள் அனுமதிக்கப்படவில்லை. குறைவான ஊழியர்களுடன் பூஜை சடங்குகள் மட்டும் நடைபெறுகிறது. தற்போது ஆடி மாத பூஜைகள் நடைபெற்று வருகிறது. நாளை (ஜூலை 20) இரவு 7:30 மணிக்கு நடை அடைக்கப்படும்.ஆடிமாத பூஜையையொட்டி மேல்சாந்தி பரமேஸ்வரன் நம்பூதிரி மாளிகைப்புறத்தம்மன் கோயிலில் பகவதிசேவை பூஜை செய்தார்.எப்போதும் சரண கோஷம் முழங்கும் சபரிமலை தற்போது நிசப்தமாக இருக்கிறது. பொதுவாக சன்னிதானத்துக்கு குரங்குகள் வருவது இல்லை. பக்தர்கள் இல்லாததால் உணவு தேடி குரங்குகள் 18 படிகள், கொடிமரம் பக்கத்தில் உள்ள பீடங்களில் வந்து அமர்கின்றன.

Devotees entered the Guruvayur Sri Krishna temple on Tuesday, after a gap of about 80 days, following the relaxation of the lockdown rules.

However, contrary to the popular assessments that there will be a heavy rush of devotees to enter the temple, much less than the permitted number had turned up on the first day.

According to the devaswom administrator, S Sisir, only 88 devotees had come to the temple, though 284 had booked online requesting for darshan. The devaswom had in fact announced its decision to allow 600 devotees to enter the temple each day. Three marriages were also held on Tuesday at the temple kalyanamandapam. The devaswom had in fact decided to give sanction to conduct 60 marriages per day at the temple.

The bookings for darshan in the coming days are also reported to be not high. The devaswom has so far received only less than 1,000 requests for free darshan till June 13, when the present online registration will continue.

Devaswom sources said suspension of private buses and campaigns by some Hindu outfits against opening of the temple could have contributed to the dip in the arrival of devotees. But more than anything else, apprehensions about the possibilities of getting infection appear to be a major reason which deters the heavy flow of devotees to the temple. They are also worried of the need for going under quarantine if any of the devotees tests positive later.

The devaswom had put in place elaborate systems for ensuring that the devotees adhere to the norms of physical distancing and sanitisation to avert Covid-19 infection.

It was a ‘darshan’ with a difference for the 6,000-odd devotees when the doors of the Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirumala reopened on Monday, after staying closed for 80 days due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Elaborate preventive measures were put in place by the authorities of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) to ensure all Covid-19 norms are in place. There was no pushing or shoving, social distancing and hygiene were paramount.

The trial run will continue for two more days. On the first two days, entry would be allowed only to TTD staff and their family members, while Tirumala locals can have darshan on June 10. The temple opens for devotees from across the state and outside from June 11.

“Perhaps for the first time in many years I had such a smooth experience. There was no pushing or shoving inside the sanctum sanctorum, everyone was wearing masks. It felt a bit surreal. There is no differentiation between common devotees and VIPs at Tirumala temple now. The quality of darshan is the same for all,” said a TTD staff.

While nearly 4,500 to 6,000 devotees used to have darshan per hour in the pre-Covid days, now only 500 devotees would be allowed entry per hour. TTD chairman Y V Subba Reddy, who is personally monitoring the resumption of pilgrim services at the temple, said their main focus would be on ensuring that devotees are not inconvenienced despite the strict norms in place.

“For the first three days we decided to allow only our own employees, their families and Tirumala locals for darshan so that any shortcomings in the arrangements can be spotted and improved upon to ensure that the best of amenities and safety measures are in place when pilgrim services resume from June 11,” he told TOI.

He said not more than 6,000 devotees will be allowed in a day for darshan till the end of June. “TTD will actively monitor the situation and if time and other constraints permit, we will try our best to facilitate darshan for more number of devotees in the weeks to come. But resumption of arjitha sevas for devotees will remain cancelled till lockdown is completely lifted,” Subba Reddy added.

TTD has also resumed laddu distribution, tonsure services and annadanam services in strict adherence with Covid-19 safety protocols.

Meanwhile, other TTD temples across the country except for those in the containment zones also reopened for pilgrim worship on Monday.

The Brahmaramba-Mallikarjuna temple in Srisailam will open its doors for devotees from June 10 after a trial run on June 8 and 9 with temple authorities and locals. According to the temple’s Executive Officer KS Rama Rao, free darshan and other services need to be booked on the website “www.srisailamonline.com” and only the confirmed devotees would be allowed to visit the temple.

The temple will be open for visiting from 6 am to 7 pm every day. Accommodation for devotees is open only for 24 hours, with a condition that only 2 persons can stay in a room. Abhishekams inside the sanctum santorum and VIP darshans stay cancelled as of now and the temple authorities have urged devotees living in red zones of the country not to visit the temple. Services for offering hair, taking a holy dip inside Pathalaganga and other water bodies, have been prohibited.

Basar set to reopen

The ancient Sri Gnana Saraswathi Devasthanam of Basar will be open for devotees from Monday. The temple was closed as part of the lockdown on March 20. Authorities of Basar said that arrangements have been made to resume darshans for devotees at the temple after a gap of 78 days.

They informed that sanitisers would be kept in the shrine for cleaning hands of devotees, besides checking temperature of visitors using thermal screening equipment. Premises of the temple will be cleaned by sodium hypochlorite solution every day

The authorities said that the temple will be open for darshan from 7 am to 6 pm. They sought cooperation from the devotees in keeping the premises clean and in preventing the spread of novel coronavirus.

Tirumala police registered cases against individuals, administrators of news apps, and social media users allegedly for spreading fallacious information against the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

The cases were registered based on a complaint lodged by TTD officials.

Tirumala Two Town police, who had earlier booked a case against an individual for claiming that TTD member trustee Sudha Narayana Murthy resigned from her trusteeship, also registered a complaint against Tamil actor Sivakumar based on a complaint lodged by a person named Tamilmaniyan.

“Mr. Sivakumar is spreading false information against the temple administration, and is urging the public not to visit Tirumala, on the grounds that anti-social activities are going on in the town,” Mr. Tamilmaniyan said in an email to the TTD.

Perturbed at the gravity of the allegations in Mr. Tamilmaniyan’s email, TTD officials lodged a complaint with the police.

A complaint was also lodged against Macharla Srinivasulu, Prashanth, and Mungara Sivaraju, administrators of ‘way2news’ app, and Tirupati Vaartha, for spreading false information that devotees will not be allowed for darshan at the temple till June 30.

False information posted on a WhatsApp group called ‘Godavari News’ allegedly caused a lot of chaos and confusion among devotees, prompting the police to register a case under the A.P. Epidemic Diseases Act.

A case was registered against a Facebook user who posted objectionable content on his page on May 7.

With the virus keeping devotees away from religious places, it’s now time for the muchawaited darshan as restrictions are eased from Monday. Most popular shrines in the country are set to open, albeit with a lot of caution.

The Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain will open its doors on June 8 after being shut for 79 days. But devotees can’t just walk in. They have to book a slot via an app or a toll-free number a day in advance. “Devotees will be allowed to visit the temple between 6.30am and 8.15pm,” said S K Tiwari, assistant administrator of Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee, after a meeting on Friday. They will launch the app and helpline in time for people to start making bookings on Sunday.

However, devotees will not be allowed to attend Bhasmarti ritual or enter the sanctum sanctorum.

The Lord Venkateswara temple at Tirumala will also reopen on June 8 with unprecedented precautions. There will be a trial run from June 8 for two days in which only Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanams employees will be allowed. On June 10, TTD will allow only Tirumala residents. From June 11, devotees from across the country except from containment zones will be allowed. Only 6,000 devotees will be allowed per day with 500 devotees every hour.

Although the UP government will allow religious places to open from June 8, prominent shrines have different plans for unlocking. So while Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi will open on Monday, temple managements in Mathura have said they can't open until they get police protection. In Ayodhya, the famous Hanumangarhi will open on Monday and devotees can also resume darshan of Ram Lalla.

Directions were issued by the state government on Friday that all religious places should have hand sanitizers, thermal scanners and pulse oxymeters at the entrance so that devotees can be scanned for temperature or low oxygen levels.

Nobody will be allowed to touch any idol or religious book inside the place of worship while no prasad will be distributed either.

In Odisha, those wanting to visit the Jagannath temple in Puri will have to wait longer with the temple managing committee proposing to the government to close the 12th century shrine till July 4.In Thrissur in Kerala, while nine marriages were held at the Guruvayur Temple on Friday, the temple is unlikely to be opened for Monday. Temple authorities said they would require more time to make arrangements, including preparation of crowd control plan.

Meanwhile, the Kerala unit of the Indian Medical Association on Friday opposed the opening of places of worship and malls.

Uncertainty also looms over famous annual yatras.

After priests at Badrinath wrote to the Uttarakhand CM to postpone the Chardham yatra for pilgrims till June 30, locals in the area have also called for measures “to keep the Char Dham free of Covid-19.”

Initially, Chamoli, Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag districts – which house the four revered shrines – had not reported a single Covid case. But the number has gone up after the migrant labourers began to return.

As uncertainty hovers over the annual Amarnath Yatra, the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board performed ‘Pratham Pujan, the first religious ritual. Board CEO said the yatra will be commencing but for a short period as compared to previous years.

The state government on Wednesday chose to remain non-committal on the demand by religious leaders to reopen places of worship after it received mixed views from representatives of various congregations. It, however, indicated that when religious places are finally opened, as suggested by the Union government, it would start with rural areas of Tamil Nadu. Some of the religious leaders preferred a cautious approach and suggested deferring a decision for now.

The Tamil Nadu Jama’Athul Ulama Sabai and the Tamil Nadu Bishops’ Council, a supreme body of Catholic bishops in the state, urged the government to allow religious places to open from June 8, assuring maintenance of social distancing norms and strict enforcement of the safety guidelines imposed by the state. “Many leaders said people were getting emotional and wanted religious places opened, others took a cautious approach as they did not want to be the cause for spreading the disease,” chief secretary K Shanmugam told TOI. “They said the government could take the call and they would follow whatever conditions were laid down. We will have to be cautious,” said the officer.

A section of Muslim leaders too recommended that the government defer reopening mosques by at least a month. The Tamil Nadu Jama’Athul Ulama Sabai representatives had stated that the community was keen to begin worship in mosques, and even prayers during Ramzan. “We assured that all safety precautions would be in place, forbidding vulnerable people from coming, avoiding hand shakes or hugging and maintaining a strict schedule. People are more aware about the dangers of Covid than they were earlier,” TNJUS state deputy secretary Ilyas Riyaji said. The officials told the leaders that chief minister Edappadi K Palnaiswami would be apprised of the developments after which he would take a decision.

A section of Hindu leaders, including Ramakrishna Mission, had left it to the government to decide on the date. “We feel that the government should defer plans, if any, to reopen since the Covid cases are on the rise in Chennai and neighbouring districts,” said Swami Satyajnananda of Ramakrishna Mission. The leaders suggested banning devotees from sitting or standing for too long in the temple in the initial days.

Tamil Nadu Bishops’ Council deputy secretary L Sahayaraj said all congregations had requested that Churches be opened. “Apart from our own rules and regulations, if the government insists on imposing more conditions, we will adjure the visitirs to follow that too. We don’t need police protection as we have our volunteers. Marriages have been deferred during lockdown,” he said. The Bishop council members expressed similar views.

A day after the Union home ministry’s “Unlock 1” plan provided the green signal for places of worship to reopen on June 8, Uttarakhand was the only state to officially spell out on Sunday that all major religious destinations like Haridwar and Char Dham would open their doors after a week but restrict entry to the local population for a start.

“We will chalk out how many people can be allowed inside each temple every day and other security measures later in the week,” minister and Haridwar MLA Madan Kaushik said.

In Bengal, churches and gurdwaras have been allowed to reopen from Monday with not more than 10 people inside at a time.

A directive on temples and mosques will be issued later, officials said.

Most large places of worship across the country look likely to remain shut for longer – either voluntarily or because of state-specific measures overriding the central unlock plan –even as some have tentatively announced they will reopen on June 8 without waiting for the respective governments to specify the way forward.

In Maharashtra, the Shirdi and Siddhivinayak temples and Mumbai’s Haji Ali Dargah waited all day for word on whether they would be allowed to reopen before the state government came out with a “Mission Begin Again” strategy that does not include places of worship for now.

Assam’s ancient Kamakhya temple, which hosts the crowd-puller Ambubachi Mela in June-end, decided on Saturday itself to remain closed till July, irrespective of the state government’s call on the Centre’s guidelines. Puri’s Jagannath temple, shut since March 20, won’t reopen before July either, which effectively means the annual Rath Yatra that draws lakhs of devotees will be an unusually quiet affair this year.

“Our temple managing committee has decided that the shrine will be shut to devotees till July 4. The state government will soon take a final decision whether or not to host the nine-day Rath Yatra from June 23. The temple committee has proposed to the state government to hold the Rath Yatra without participation of devotees in view of the pandemic,” temple administrator (development) Ajay Kumar Jena told TOI.

Smaller temples, churches and mosques might get permission to reopen next week, sources said.

In AP, the state government’s decision to reopen or keep the Tirumala and Tirupati temples closed for a few more weeks won’t be known until next Thursday, said a senior official in Hyderabad.

Gujarat will decide on reopening major places of worship such as the Somnath and Akshardham shrines only after receiving a detailed SOP from the Centre, deputy CM Nitin Patel said.

The richest temple body in the country, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), is all set to place agriculture land, house buildings and 16 house sites across Tamil Nadu on the auction block. This is part of a plan by the TTD to raise about ₹100 crore by monetizing its unviable properties spread across a few states including Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu by raising funds under the cottage donation scheme during the financial year 2020-21. The proposal was approved by the TTD trust board during a meeting held in Tirumala on February 29.

The total worth of the land and buildings in Tamil Nadu to be auctioned is estimated at ₹1.54 crore. Two sub-committees have been set up by the TTD to hold the auction. Parcels of agriculture land belonging to the TTD trust are located in Cauvery delta districts besides Tiruvannamalai, Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram while house sites are mostly in undivided Vellore district, Dharmapuri and Villupuram districts.

TTD sources said all these properties were donated by devotees several decades ago. Of the 23 properties on the auction block, a house located in Gudiyatham is valued at ₹43.74 lakh.

The two committees with four members each are responsible for conducting the auction, finalizing the successful bidders, registration of documents in favour of successful bidders and remittance of sale proceeds into the TTD account.

The two committees are to prepare a plan of action for conducting the public auction.

“It was a proposal of the TTD board to auction the properties in 2015 but there were some legal problems. Now, all those issues have been cleared,” a TTD Board member told TOI.

TIRUPATI: Despite the COVID-19 lockdown, devotees of Lord Venkateswara of the famous hill shrine at Tirumala will soon be able to receive the sacred 'laddu prasadams' at subsidized prices in Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad and all district headquarters in Andhra Pradesh, a top TTD functionary said here on Wednesday.

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Board Chairman Y V Subba Reddy said that thisfollowed repeated requests from devotees, who have been barredfrom darshan of Lord Venkateswara on the hills since March 20 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The date of arrival of the Tirupati Laddu in the respective places would be communicated in three days, he said, adding that devotees who wished to purchase more laddus for free distribution among other faithul in these TTD specified regions could contact the Deputy Executive Officer on 9849575952 and Potu Peishkar on 9701092777.

The Laddu, which is priced at Rs 50 each, would be sold at subsidized price of Rs 25 as a token of gift to the devotees in the COVID-19 lockdown period, he said.

The laddus will be made available at TTD information centres and TTD marriage halls in these areas, he said.

Interestingly,e-hundi cash offerings by devotees fetched a record income of Rs1.97 crore in April this year against Rs 1.79 crore during the same month last year, an increase of Rs 18 lakh, he said.

Reddy also categorically denied media reports and social media messages that TTD was facing a financial crunch and was unable to pay salaries to the TTD staff.

He said salaries had been paid for the past two months and would be given for May and June also.

As the Tirumala temple remains closed in view of the lockdown, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) management has decided to commence distribution of the famous laddu to the devotees on reduced rates. The laddu, costing ₹50, is now available at ₹25 till the lockdown ends.

The plan is to prepare laddus on receipt of request/indent from bulk takers in major centres. Once prepared, laddus will be transported to the nearest TTD Kalyana Mandapam or information centre. Buyers can take them for distribution. “We have no idea of when we can provide darshan. Our plan is to at least reach prasadam to the devout,” said TTD trust board chair Y.V. Subba Reddy on Wednesday.

Temples across the State are likely to open their doors to devotees by June 1, with the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department mulling over the issuance of e-passes to devotees.

Over 40,000 temples under the control of the Department, as well as private temples, have been functioning during the lockdown with priests and other necessary staff alone.

“Individual temples could decide the number of passes to be issued every day. This, we hope, will help restrict the number of visitors and enforce physical distancing, thereby ensuring the safety of all concerned,” said an official source in the Department.

Many temples, including the Kapaleeswarar temple in Mylapore, have started webcasting their sayarakshai and pradosham pujas.
