Commuters affected by poor maintenance, encroachments

The vast bus terminus located in the financial hub of Broadway serves as a point of link for several commuters headed to various parts of the city. However, despite being the hub for Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) buses, the terminus remains neglected on the civic infrastructure front. Commuters using the bus terminus located on NSC Bose Road say it has various shortcomings, particularly hygiene.

The main grouse of the commuters is the way the bus terminus is being maintained, making the facility look more like a hawkers paradise than a bus terminus. Hawkers and shop owners have completely taken over much of the space, making it difficult for commuters to walk freely in the crowded area.

S. Thirumalai, a resident of Mogappair, rued the poor maintenance of the terminus.

He said the terminus is frequented by thousands of people everyday but is unhygienic and there is no control over the hawkers who obstruct the free movement. Adding to the problems, the shops located inside the bus terminus have encroached into the pedestrian pathway by installing their boards and placing utensils. The bus terminus also suffers from a proper public convenience facility and is strewn with garbage.

Though the MTC operates buses from the Broadway bus terminus, the space belongs to the Chennai Corporation, with the MTC authorities claiming they do not have any role in maintaining it.

Measures sought

V. Rama Rao, member of the Traffic and Transportation Forum, citing Chennai Corporation’s promise to construct a multi-level two-wheeler/car parking stand at the bus terminus, wanted the civic body to take urgent temporary measures such as removing the encroachments and regularly clearing garbage.

He also wanted the civic body to speed up the renovation of the Broadway bus terminus, which has been planned to be renovated to world-class standards.

A senior official of the Chennai Corporation said the terminus will be converted into a multi-modal transport system serving the commuters of metro and suburban train system. Among the several facilities planned is a skywalk to the Beach railway station.

Also, it has been proposed to exploit commercial opportunities by having multi-level vehicle parking, shops and a food plaza.

Academics to get sabbatical leave to begin startups in Kerala

Kerala government has given green signal to a proposal of the state Startup Mission (KSUM) to accord sabbatical leave to the faculty members of all colleges who intend to establish startups.

The new initiative would help members of the academic community in the state to become part of entrepreneurship, a statement said here on Saturday.

According to the proposal, teachers can start their own startups, form their groups or join as founders/co-founders along with students. An expert panel, headed by KSUM CEO Saji Gopinath, will select 10 faculty members on a pilot basis for the implementation of the project, it said.

State IT Secretary M Sivasankar said the state governments project is the first-of-its-kind in India. "The participation of teachers, with active support from college authorities and parents, will bring experience and responsibility in the startups," he said. Gopinath said the KSUM had submitted the proposal to the government to give an impetus to the functioning of startups and culture of innovation.

"The initiative will greatly contribute to the government's determined efforts to strengthen and accelerate the startup ecosystem through an active participation of the teaching community," he said.

As per the proposal guidelines, faculty members can avail sabbatical leave with or without pay from their institutions. The scheme is open only to regular teachers of the institutions, the release said.

'மெர்சல்' படத்தில், 'ஆளுகிற அரசுமீது மக்களுக்கு தவறான கண்ணோட்டத்தை திட்டமிட்டே உருவாக்குகிறார்கள்' என்று பா.ஜ.க தேசியச் செயலாளர் ஹெச்.ராஜா கூறியுள்ளார்.

ஏ.என்.ஐ செய்தி நிறுவனத்துக்கு ஹெச்.ராஜா இன்று அளித்துள்ள பேட்டியில், "கமல்ஹாசனின் 'விஸ்வரூபம்' திரைப்படத்துக்கு சென்சார் அனுமதி அளித்த பிறகு எதிர்ப்பு எழுந்தது. இந்த எதிர்ப்பை ஏற்று, சென்சார் வழங்கிய பிறகு காட்சிகளை நீக்கியவர் கமல்ஹாசன். அப்போது, சென்சார் போர்டு பிரச்னையைத் தீர்த்துவைத்தது என்று சொல்லுகிற துணிச்சல் கமல்ஹாசனுக்கு இருந்ததா. நாங்கள் அந்த மாதிரி சொல்லவில்லை. நாங்கள் விமர்சனங்களை வரவேற்கிறோம். மோடியே சொல்லியிருக்கிறார். மற்றவர்களுடைய விமர்சனங்கள் என்னையும் அரசாங்கத்தையும் திருத்திக்கொள்ளப் பயன்படும். அதனால், நான் வரவேற்கிறேன் என்று கூறியிருக்கிறார். ஆனால், 'மெர்சல்' படத்தில், ஆளுகிற அரசுமீது மக்களுக்கு தவறான கண்ணோட்டத்தை திட்டமிட்டே உருவாக்குகிறார்கள். அந்தக் குறிக்கோளாேடு பொய்யைச் சொல்லியிருப்பதைத்தான் நாங்கள் எதிர்க்கிறோம்.

பொய் ஒன்று: 7 சதவிகிதம் வாங்குகிற சிங்கப்பூரில், மருத்துவ வசதிகள் இலவசம். ஆனால், 28 சதவிகிதம் வாங்குகிற இந்தியாவில் இலவசமில்லை. இதுவே பொய்தானே. இந்தியாவில் அடிப்படைப் பொருள்களுக்கு 0%தான். 5 சதவிகிதம் இருக்கு, 12 சதவிகிதம் இருக்கு. இதற்குக் காரணமே, இந்தியாவில் வருமானம் மற்றும் சொத்துகளில் ஏற்றத்தாழ்வு இருக்கிறது. ஆனால், ஏழை மக்கள் உபயோகப்படுத்துகிற அத்தியாவசியப் பொருள்களுக்கு வரி எதுவுமே போடவில்லை.

இரண்டாவது பொய்: இந்தியாவில் பள்ளிக் கல்வியும் மருத்துவமும் ஏழை மக்களுக்கு இலவசம்தான். சென்னையில் இருக்கிற ராஜீவ் காந்தி அரசு மருத்துவமனை, பல தனியார் மருத்துவமனைகளைவிட சிறந்தது. விஜய் வந்து ராஜீவ்காந்தி மருத்துவமனையில் சிகிச்சை எடுக்க வேண்டும் என்று கூறுகிறோம். அங்கு சிறந்த சிகிச்சை அளிக்கப்படுகிறது.

மிகவும் ஆவேசத்தோடு, உயிர்காக்கும் மருந்துக்கு 12 சதவிகிதம் வரி; ஆனால், தாய்மார்களின் தாலியை அறுக்கிற சாராயத்துக்கு 0 சதவிகிதம் வரி. இது பொய்யில்லையா. மத்திய வரி இருக்கட்டும்; வாட் வரி 58 சதவிகிதத்திலிருந்து 270 சதவிகிதம் வரை சாராயத்துக்கு வரி இருக்கிறது. அதனால்தான், மாநில அரசாங்கத்தில் 190 சதவிகித்திலிருந்து 250 சதவிகிதம் வரை வரி இருக்கிறது. ஜி.எஸ்.டி-க்குள் மதுவைக் கொண்டுவந்தால், 28 சதவிகிதம் மட்டுமே வரி விதிக்க முடியும். அதிக வரி விதிக்க வேண்டும் என்பதற்காகவே, மதுவை ஜி.எஸ்.டி-க்குள் கொண்டுவரவில்லை. இதை 0 சதவிகிதம் என்று எப்படிச் சொல்வது. வேண்டுமென்றே ஒரு பொய்யைப் பரப்புவதற்கு ஒருவர் முயற்சி பண்ணினால், அதைத் தட்டிக்கேட்கணுமா வேண்டாமா? அதைத்தான் செய்திருக்கிறோம். விஜய்க்கோ கமல்ஹாசனுக்கோ அல்லது பல நடிகர்களுக்கோ இந்து மதத்தை விமர்சிக்க உரிமை இருக்கிறது. உண்மை அடிப்படையில் விமர்சனம் பண்ணுங்கள். உங்களுக்கு என்ன உரிமை கொடுக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறதோ அதுபோன்றுதான் எனக்கும் கொடுக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது" என்று கூறினார்.

சர்ச்சை வசனங்கள் நீக்கப்படுமா? - அனல் கிளப்பும் 'மெர்சல்' அரசியல்

தடைகளைத் தாண்டி 'மெர்சல்' திரைப்படம் கடந்த தீபாவளியன்று தமிழகத்தில் வெளியானது. அந்தப்படம்தான் தற்போது அரசியல் களத்தில் புயலைக் கிளப்பி வருகிறது. அந்தத் திரைப்படத்தில், ஜி.எஸ்.டி வரி விதிப்பு முறையையும் டிஜிட்டல் இந்தியா திட்டத்தைப்பற்றியும் நடிகர் விஜய் வசனம் பேசியுள்ள காட்சிகள் கடும் சர்ச்சையை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது.

''7 சதவிகிதம் ஜி.எஸ்.டி வாங்குற சிங்கப்பூர், மக்களுக்கு மருத்துவத்தை இலவசமா தர்றப்போ, 28 சதவிகிதம் ஜி.எஸ்.டி வாங்குற நம்ம அரசாங்கத்தால ஏன் மருத்துவத்தை இலவசமா தர முடியலை? மெடிக்கலுக்கு 12 பெர்சன்டாம்... ஆனா தாய்மாருங்க தாலிய அறுக்கிற சாராயத்துக்கு ஜி.எஸ்.டி கிடையாது. ஜனங்க நோயைப் பார்த்து பயப்படுறதைவிட, கவர்மென்ட் ஹாஸ்பிட்டலைப் பார்த்து பயப்படுறதுதான் அதிகம். அந்த பயம்தான்... பிரைவேட் ஹாஸ்பிட்டல்ஸோட இன்வெஸ்ட்மென்ட்!'' என்று படத்தில் விஜய் பேசுகிற வசனங்களுக்குத் திரையரங்குகளில் பலத்த கைத்தட்டல்கள் கிடைக்கின்றன. ஆனால், அனலைக் கிளப்பும் இந்த வசனத்துக்கு எதிர்ப்பாக பி.ஜே.பி போர்க்கொடி தூக்கியுள்ளது. மத்திய அமைச்சர் பொன்.ராதாகிருஷ்ணன் பேசுகையில், ''நடிகர்கள் கமல், விஜய் அரசியலுக்கு வரட்டும். ஆனால், பொய்யானக் குற்றச்சாட்டை திரைப்படங்கள் வாயிலாகத் தெரிவித்து மத்திய அரசுமீது வெறுப்பை ஏற்படுத்த வேண்டாம்'' என்று தெரிவித்துள்ளார். பி.ஜே.பி-யின் மாநிலத் தலைவர் தமிழிசை சவுந்திரராஜன் பேசுகையில், ''விஜய் முறையான விலைக்கு டிக்கெட் விற்பனை செய்ய நடவடிக்கை எடுப்பாரா? அவர் வாங்கும் சம்பளம் எவ்வளவு? அதற்கு முறையாக வரி கட்டுகிறாரா? என்பதையெல்லாம் விஜய் தெரிவிக்க வேண்டும். விளம்பரத்துக்காக இவ்வாறு பொய்யான கருத்துகளை மக்கள் மனதில் பதியவைக்க வேண்டாம்'' எனக் கூறியுள்ளார்.



கருத்துச் சுதந்திரத்துக்குக் குண்டு?

இதேபோன்று 'மெர்சல்' திரைப்படத்தில், மருத்துவத்துறையை அவமதிக்கும் கருத்துகள் இடம் பெற்றுள்ளதாகவும் அவற்றையும் நீக்கவேண்டும் என்றும் மருத்துவர் சங்கம் ஆவேசமாகியுள்ளது. இப்படிப் பலவித எதிர்ப்புகள் இருந்துவரும் நிலையிலும், மெர்சல் படம் நல்ல வசூலை ஈட்டி வருவதாகத் தகவல்கள் வெளியாகியுள்ளன. இதற்கிடையில், சர்ச்சைக்குரிய கருத்துகளை நீக்கிவிட மெர்சல் படத்தின் தயாரிப்பாளர் தரப்பிலிருந்து சம்மதம் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டிருப்பதாகவும் தகவல்கள் வெளிவருகின்றன. இதற்கு எதிர்வினையாக, 'சர்ச்சைக்குரிய அந்தக் காட்சியை நீக்க வேண்டாம்' என்று அரசியல் கட்சித் தலைவர்கள், நடிகர்கள் எனப் பல தரப்பினரும் பதில் கருத்து தெரிவித்துள்ளனர். நடிகர் கமல் பதிவிட்டுள்ள டிவிட்டரில் 'மெர்சல் தணிக்கை செய்யப்பட்டுவிட்டது. படத்தை மறுபடியும் தணிக்கை செய்யவேண்டாம். எதிர் விமர்சனம் தர்க்க ரீதியான விமர்சனமாக இருக்க வேண்டும். விமர்சிப்பவர்கள் வாயை அடைக்காதீர்கள். வெளிப்படையாகப் பேசும்போதுதான் இந்தியா ஒளிரும்' என்று குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார். அதேபோன்று காங்கிரஸ் முன்னாள் மத்திய அமைச்சர் சிதம்பரம், ''பட அதிபர்கள் இனி அரசைப் பாராட்டி டாக்கு மென்ட்ரி எடுக்கலாம்" என்று தமது டிவிட் பதிவில் கருத்துத்தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.



'தற்போது பராசக்தி படம் வெளியாகியிருந்தால், அனுமதிப்பார்களா? என்ன நிலை ஆகியிருக்கும். மற்றொரு பதிவில் கூறியுள்ளார் சிதம்பரம். கருத்துச் சுதந்திரத்துக்கு பி.ஜே.பி குண்டு வைத்துள்ளது' என்று மார்க்ஸிஸ்ட் கம்யூனிஸ்ட் கட்சியின் மாநிலச் செயலாளர் ஜி. ராமகிருஷ்ணன். கருத்து தெரிவித்துள்ளார்

ஜி.எஸ்.டி குறித்து தவறாக இல்லை...

இப்படி மெர்சல் படத்துக்கு எதிர்ப்பும், ஆதரவும் வலுத்து வரும் நிலையில், சர்ச்சைக்குரிய காட்சிகள் நீக்கப்படுமா? என்ற கேள்வி எழுந்துள்ளன. உண்மையில் அந்தக் காட்சிகள் சர்ச்சைக்குரிய காட்சிகள்தானா ? அப்படியானால், இந்தப் படம் தணிக்கை செய்யப்படும்போது என்ன தவறு நேர்ந்தது? என்ற நமது சந்தேகங்களைத் தணிக்கைக் குழுவின் மண்டல அதிகாரி மதியழகனிடம் கேட்டோம்.



"மெர்சல் படத்தில் வருகிற வசனங்கள் சர்ச்சைக்குள்ளாகியுள்ளது. தரமான கமிட்டி கூடிதான் அந்தப் படத்தை தணிக்கை செய்துள்ளது. படம் முழுவதையும் பார்த்துவிட்டு அதன் பின்னர் ஆலோசித்துதான் அனுமதி வழங்கப்பட்டது. அந்தப் படத்தில் ஜி.எஸ்.டி குறித்து விஜய் பேசியுள்ள வசனம் தவறாகவோ அல்லது பாதிப்பை ஏற்படுத்துகிற நிலையிலோ இல்லை என்றுதான் கமிட்டி எண்ணியது. இந்த நிலையில், அந்தப்படம் சர்ச்சைக்குள்ளாகியுள்ளது. திரைப்பட ஒளிப்பதிவு சட்டத்தின்படி அந்தப் படத்தின் தயாரிப்பாளர்கள் தரப்பிலிருந்து காட்சிகள் நீக்கம் மற்றும் அழித்தல் கோரி விண்ணப்பம் வந்தால், அதைத் தணிக்கை குழு ஏற்று நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கும்'' என்றார்.

இந்த நிலையில் மெர்சல் படத்திலிருந்து நான்கு காட்சிகளை நீக்க தயாரிப்பாளர்கள் தரப்பில் முடிவு செய்துள்ளதாகத் தகவல் வெளியாகி உள்ளது. சம்பந்தப்பட்ட காட்சிகளை நீக்கக் கோரும் கடிதம், தயாரிப்பாளர்கள் தரப்பிலிருந்துதணிக்கை குழுவிடம் கொடுக்கப்பட உள்ளதாகவும் தகவல்கள் வெளியாகியுள்ளன. இது தொடர்பாக தேனாண்டாள் ஃபிலிம்ஸ் முரளியைத் தொடர்பு கொண்டு பேச முயற்சி செய்தோம். 'சில மணி நேரம் கழித்து அழைக்கவும்' என்ற குறுஞ்செய்தி மட்டும் அவரிடமிருந்து பதிலாக நமக்கு வந்துசேர்ந்தது.

இணையதளம் வாயிலாக தகவல்களைத் திருடுபவர்கள், வங்கி மற்றும் கிரெடிட் கார்டு அடையாள எண், பாஸ்வேர்டு போன்றவற்றை திருடி பணத்தை கொள்ளையடிப்பவர்களுக்கு, இதுபோன்ற பொது இடங்களில் பயன்படுத்தும் வைஃபை கூடுதல் வசதியை ஏற்படுத்திக் கொடுக்கிறது. தகவல் திருடப்படும் நபரும், திருடும் நபரும் ஒரே வைஃபை வளையத்திற்குள் இருப்பதால், தகவல் திருட்டு எளிது என எச்சரிக்கிறது இந்தியன் கம்ப்யூட்டர் எமர்ஜென்சி ரெஸ்பான்ஸ் டீம்.

எனினும் HTTPS everywhere போன்ற மென்பொருள்  plugin பயன்படுத்துவதன் மூலம் https  அல்லாத இணைய தளங்களை பாதுகாப்பாக பார்வை  இடலாம். இமெயில், கிரெடிட் கார்டு, வங்கிக் கணக்குகள் உள்ளிட்ட தனிப்பட்ட விவரங்களை, பொது வைஃபை மூலம் பயன்படுத்தாமல் தவிர்க்கலாம்.

BSNL to pay Rs 7,000 for negligence in service

Chennai: When people are being hooked to smartphones, a resident in Kilpauk fought with BSNL for three years to get a landline telephone connection. After allotting a telephone number the BSNL had not given him the connection so far. A city consumer forum came to his rescue and directed the public sector firm to provide him with the landline connection in two months.

In the petition S. Anandan, Venkatathri Street, Kosapet, Chennai, submitted that he deposited Rs 500 with BSNL office at Kilpauk, on November 11, 2014, to get a landline telephone connection. BSNL promised to install the connection within a week and also allotted a phone number. However, a link was not given in spite of repeated complaints so far. He lodged a complaint with officials on several occasions. He sent a notice dated February 8, 2016, to the BSNL. As there was no response he filed the petition seeking direction to the public sector firm to pay him a compensation of Rs 2.55 lakh for causing mental agony.

In its reply, the Chief General Manager, BSNL, Chennai Telephones, Purasawalkam, has admitted that it allotted a landline number to him. The firm made efforts to give him the landline connection to him. However, it was not given due to primary cable fault in Venkatathri street. The workers were unable to rectify the cable fault work as a cement road was laid in the street. In view of technical reasons alone, the firm was not able to give connection to the telephone number. The bench comprising President K. Jayabalan and member M.Uyirroli Kannan has stated that the allotment of landline number prima-facie establishes that the BSNL intended to give telephone connection to Anandan.

Before allotting the number BSNL should have verified that the firm would be able to give telephone connection to him or not. Without asserting the position, it allotted telephone number is a deficiency on its part. Further, after one and a half year the complainant issued a notice. Therefore, we hold that the complainant proved the deficiency committed by the BSNL, the bench said. The bench directed the BSNL to give him the connection in two months and to pay him a compensation of Rs 7,000 for committing negligence in service and for causing him mental agony.

Two years after, Tambaram still submerged in problems

Chennai: It is almost two years since the floods of December 2015 ravaged Tambaram and its surrounding areas, but the devastated neighbourhoods are yet to recover.

The real estate market, which had been booming till the disaster struck, has dropped drastically, with few takers for properties at throwaway prices. Hundreds of families had moved out after the deluge, turning some of the localities into bachelor's havens, thanks to substantial drop in rentals.

But few lessons have been learned and the authorities have done little to ensure residents are assured of their safety. The scores of encroachments along the many waterbodies that were demolished have returned and could hamper free flow of rainwater when this year's northeast monsoon, which is hardly a fortnight away, sets in.

Most residents say the topography of the region has been completely altered, forcing people to change the way buildings are constructed. Several independent houses in these areas now have stilts to prevent floodwater entering.

Narayanan, who runs a laundry at Bharati Nagar in Old Perungalathur, said many landlords had shifted to the first or second floors from the ground floor. "Several families who had been staying on rent in these localities shifted to other areas after the floods. They have been replaced by bachelors who are drawn by the drop in rentals," he said.

In Harita Enclave at West Tambaram, touted as the swankiest nieghbourhood in the area, many who vacated independent homes are yet to return. Those who remain seem to be preparing for the worst. While Thangam, a retired teacher, has built a room on the top floor of her house to be used as a shelter, her neighbour A V Mohanan has purchased an 11th floor apartment in a Pallavaram complex that he plans to shift into if Harita Enclave, where water levels surged to more than 12ft in December 2015, submerges again.

Mohanan says property prices which had fallen by half have not revived. "An independent bungalow sold for around `1.70 crore, just before the floods. Now, a similar property is available for `75 lakh, but there are no buyers," he said.

Unfortunately, those who should have learned most from the disaster do not seem to care. A visit by TOI to areas like Mudichur and Varadharajapuram showed many waterbodies have been occupied again, which authorities ignored.

M R Illango of Varadharajapuram alleged that construction was being carried out with impunity. "The encroachments were demolished to ensure flow of rainwater is not hindered. But, they have returned due to poor monitoring by the administration," he said. Channels have not been desilted and are now covered by thick vegetation, he added.

All attempts, including through email, by TOI to reach Kancheepuram collector P Ponniah for comments on the issue failed.

EC to delete 4.78 lakh names from voter list

Chennai: A total of 4.78 lakh voter names have been identified to be deleted from the electoral roll so far across Tamil Nadu, after the draft electoral roll was released earlier this month. Of this, 1.68 lakh voters are dead and the remaining have shifted their addresses. The deletions from the electoral roll will be done after December 15.

Chennai district - 1.74 lakh names - has the maximum number voters who have been identified for deletions. Nearly 1.62 lakh names in Chennai city are of those who have changed their residences. Tiruvallur district has the maximum number of dead voters whose names will be deleted from the electoral roll. There are 14,750 names of dead voters to be deleted from the rolls in Tiruvallur district.

"With regard to Chennai city, with the help of a software, we found multiple entries of same people. The software threw up names of voters who had many addresses. Based on this, we checked the addresses by doing door-to-door verification," Tamil Nadu chief electoral officer Rajesh Lakhoni told TOI.

Apart from what the software has detected, political parties in the state have also given lists with names of voters who have either died or have shifted to new places. "We also checked the lists presented by political parties and in some cases, families of people who have died have come forward to delete the dead person's name from voter list. Some voters, who have shifted their residences, have come forward on their own to change their addresses on the electoral rolls," said Lakhoni.

The voters who wish to change their addresses or delete names of dead voters can make requests till December 15. "The revised electoral rolls will be released in the first week of January," said Lakhoni.

Opposition parties, especially the DMK, have been seeking deletion of names of many voters. "We came to know that the EC has asked its officials to link Chennai voters' names with aadhaar. Similarly, across Tamil Nadu, in all assembly constituencies, voter names must be linked with aadhaar. This will prevent having dead voters' names in the electoral rolls," said DMK Rajya Sabha MP R S Bharathi.

Petrol bunk tainting Chromepet groundwater ordered shut

Chennai: The state pollution control board has asked the electricity board to disconnect power supply to a petrol bunk in Chromepet and ordered its closure after oil from there was found to be contaminating groundwater in the area.

The secretary of the Patel Street Residents' Association, S M Govindarajan, said, "We welcome the move. After the recent rain, the wells are full but we cannot use the water as it is mixed with petrol. There should be a permanent solution to the issue."

The order from Tamil Nadu pollution control board to Tangedco, a copy of which is with TOI, said, "You are hereby requested to disconnect the power supply to Ms Mahalakshmi Agencies, No 3 Dr Rajendra Prasad Road, Chromepet."

After a series of reports in TOI, the state human rights commission had issued notices to the pollution control board and Pallavaram municipality on the issue. Lab tests at the King Institute of Preventive Medicine and Research in Guindy showed the presence of hydrocarbons and mineral oil in the groundwater and soil at Nehru Nagar in Chromepet where the petrol bunk is located. Residents of Patel Street and Ramachandra Street have been complaining against the water contamination for almost two years, saying it has led to health issues. The residents have also been forced to buy bottled water as a result, which has affected their monthly budget.

"Shutting down power supply to the petrol bunk is a good move but the authorities must ensure that the groundwater quality is restored at the earliest," said a resident of Ramachandra Street who did not wish to be named.

Traffic diversion at Vadapalani junction

Chennai: To ease traffic congestion, restrictions have been put in place at Vadapalani junction. Commuters travelling from Kodambakkam-Arcot Road toward Porur or Koyambedu have to turn left at the junction and U-turn (65 metres ahead) under the metro rail bridge and proceed straight or take left at Vadapalani junction.

Commuters coming from Ashoka Pillar towards Kodambakkam via the service road can take a right at the junction.

Similarly, those travelling from Virugambakkam towards Kodambakkam, Ashok Nagar and Koyambedu can take a left, go straight or take a right at the junction. Commuters going from Vadapalani Forum Vijaya Mall towards Valasaravakkam have to take a left at the mall towards Vadalapalani junction, take a right and a U-turn under the metro rail bridge and then a left at Vadapalani junction to head towards Valasaravakkam.

Vehicles coming from Nerkundram Pathai service road towards Ashok Pillar at 100 feet road have to take a left at Vadapalani junction towards Kodambakkam and Duraisamy Samy Salai. ANDIPATTI: Tamil Nadu Minister K T Rajendra Balaji has said "nobody can shake" the AIADMK as long as Prime Minister Narendra Modi "supports the party".

Expressing confidence that chief minister K Palaniswami's camp would get the 'two leaves' symbol, the State Dairy Minister said, "The symbol will come to EPS camp... there is no doubt about it."

Addressing a party meeting here late last night, he said as along as "Prime Minister Narendra Modi is with us, nobody can shake our party... nobody can destroy AIADMK...."

He asserted that no one could oppose the ruling AIADMK, including the DMK.

He claimed that 92 per cent of general council members supported the Palaniswami camp.

The Election Commission had on March 23 frozen the name AIADMK and its election symbol after the factions led by Sasikala and former chief minister O Panneerselvam staked claim to it ahead of the R K Nagar bypoll, necessitated by the death of party supremo J Jayalalithaa.

கேரள மாநிலம் பெரும்பாவூரில் இருந்து கொச்சி செல்லும் வழியில் இந்தச் சம்பவம் நடந்துள்ளது. நிர்மால் ஜோஸ் என்பவரே காரை ஓட்டிச் சென்றுள்ளார். ஆம்புலன்ஸில் முன் பாகத்தில் வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த கேமராவில் அவர் 3 கிமீ-களுக்கு வழியை அடைத்துக் கொண்டு சென்ற காட்சி பதிவாகி இருப்பதை வைத்து காவலர்கள் அந்த கார் ஓட்டுநரைக் கைது செய்துள்ளனர். ஆம்புலன்ஸ் ஓட்டுநரான மது கூறுகையில், “சைரன் சத்தத்துடன் நான் தொடர்ச்சியாக பலமுறை ‘ஹாரன்’ அடித்தும் அந்த கார் வழி விடவில்லை, இதனால் 15 நிமிடத்தில் சென்றடைய வேண்டிய மருத்துவமனைக்கு 30 நிமிடங்கள் தாமதமாக செல்ல நேர்ந்தது” என்றார்.

“யாராவது ஆம்புலன்ஸுக்கு பைலட்டாக வருவார்களா? அவர் வழி விட்டிருந்தாலே விரைவாக மருத்துவமனைக்குச் சென்றிருக்க முடியும். மேலும் ஆம்புலன்ஸில் இருந்த குழந்தைக்கும் அவருக்கும் எந்த ஒரு தொடர்பும் இல்லை” என்று ஓட்டுநர் மது கூறியுள்ளார்.

விஜய் நடிப்பில் அட்லி இயக்கத்தில் சுமார் 120 கோடி ரூபாய் பட்ஜெட்டில் தேனாண்டாள் நிறுவனத்தின் 100-ஆவது திரைப்படமாக தயாரிக்கப்பட்டு வெளியானது மெர்சல்.

இப்படத்துக்கு ஏ.ஆர்.ரஹ்மான் இசையமைத்துள்ளார். எஸ்.ஜே.சூர்யா, வடிவேலு, கோவை சரளா உள்ளிட்டோர் முக்கிய கதாபாத்திரத்தில் நடித்துள்ளனர். சமந்தா, காஜல் அகர்வால், நித்யா மேனன் ஆகியோர் நாயகிகளாக நடித்துள்ளனர்.

மெர்சல் திரைப்படம் தீபாவளி அன்று வெளியிடப்பட்டு வெற்றிகரமாக ஓடி வசூல் சாதனை படைத்து வருகிறது. ஆனாலும், இத்திரைப்படத்தில் ஜிஎஸ்டி, மருத்துவம் உள்ளிட்ட சர்ச்சைக்குரிய காட்சிகள் இடம்பெற்றுள்ளதாக பல்வேறு விமர்சனங்கள் வெளியாகின.

குறிப்பாக தமிழக பாஜக தலைவர் தமிழிசை சௌந்தர்ராஜன், ஹெச்.ராஜா, பொன்.ராதாகிருஷ்ணன் உள்ளிட்டோர் அந்த சர்ச்சைக்குரிய காட்சிகளை நீக்குமாறு தொடர்ந்து வலியுறுத்தி வருகின்றனர்.

அதுபோல, காங்கிரஸ் தலைவர் சிதம்பரம், திருநாவுக்கரசர், திமுக தலைவர் ஸ்டாலின், நடிகர் கமல்ஹாசன், இயக்குநர் பா.ரஞ்சித், நடிகர் மற்றும் தயாரிப்பாளர் சங்கத் தலைவர் விஷால் உள்ளிட்டோர் மெர்சல் திரைப்படத்துக்கு ஆதரவு அளித்து கருத்து தெரிவித்தனர்.

உலகம் முழுவதும் உள்ள சுற்றுலாப் பட்டியலில் இடம் பெற்றுள்ள, ஆண்டுதோறும் 20 லட்சம் சுற்றுலாப் பயணிகள் வந்து செல்கின்ற தாஜ்மஹாலின் பெயர் உத்தரப் பிரதேச மாநில சுற்றுலா கையேட்டில் இடம் பெறவில்லை என்பது, நாடு முழுவதுமுள்ள மக்களை மட்டுமல்ல, உலக அளவில் உள்ள இந்தியர்களை, சுற்றுலா பயணிகளை, அதிர்ச்சிக்கு உள்ளாக்கியுள்ளது. இதற்கு, பல்வேறு தரப்பினர் எதிர்ப்பு தெரிவித்தும் வருகின்றனர். 
உலக அதிசயங்களில் ஒன்றான தாஜ்மஹால் 1983-லேயே யுனெஸ்கோவால் கலாசார பிரிவின் கீழ் பாரம்பரிய இடமாக அறிவிக்கப்பட்ட பகுதி. போர்க்காலங்களில் கூட பாதுகாக்கப்படும் பகுதி. ஐ.நா.வின் கண்காணிப்பில் உள்ள பகுதி. பல்வேறு பாரம்பரியங்களை உடைய ஓர் உலக அதிசயத்தை முடக்குவது வேதனையளிக்கிறது. 
உலக வங்கியின் பரிந்துரைப்படி மாநில சுற்றுலா துறையை மேம்படுத்த 370 கோடி ரூபாய் மதிப்பிலான திட்டங்களை உத்தரப் பிரதேச அரசு தயாரித்துள்ளது. மத்திய அரசின் ஒப்புதலுக்கு அனுப்பப்பட்ட இந்தத் திட்டங்களில், தாஜ்மஹால் மற்றும் அதன் சுற்றுப்புற மேம்பாட்டுக்கு மட்டும், 156 கோடி ரூபாய் ஒதுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. 
மத்திய அரசின் ஒப்புதல் கிடைத்ததும் மூன்று மாதங்களில் திட்டப் பணிகள் தொடங்கும் என மாநில அரசு தரப்பில் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. சுற்றுலா கையேட்டில் இல்லாத இடத்திற்கு சுற்றுலாத்துறைக்கென ஒதுக்கப்பட்ட நிதியில் 40 சதவீதம் ஒதுக்கியிருப்பது வியப்பாக உள்ளது. 
இந்துக் கட்டடக்கலைக்கோர் தஞ்சை பெரிய கோவில், இஸ்லாமிய கட்டடக்கலைக்கோர் தாஜ்மஹால், பெளத்த கட்டடக்கலைக்கோர் புத்த கயா, சமணக் கட்டடக்கலைக்கோர் ஸ்ரவணபெலகோலா என சமயம் கடந்த கலாசாரப் பதிவுகளைப் பிரதிபலிக்கும் வானுயர்ந்த கட்டடங்களைக் கொண்டு விளங்குகிறது நம் பாரதம். 
எண்ணூறு ஆண்டுகள் இந்தியாவை ஆண்ட மொகலாயர்கள் இந்தியாவுக்கு பல்வேறு பெருமைகள் சேர்த்தனர். அதில் குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது கட்டடக்கலை. மொகலாய சக்கரவர்த்தி ஷாஜஹான் கட்டிய தாஜ்மஹால், இந்திய கட்டடக்கலையின் உச்சம். 
உலக அதிசயங்களை மாற்றி வரையறுத்தபோது இந்தியாவின் பெருமை மிகு தாஜ்மஹால் முதலிடத்தைப் பிடித்து இந்தியர்களை மகிழ்ச்சிக் கடலில் ஆழ்த்தி
யுள்ளது.
காண்போர் கண்களை பிரமிப்பில் ஆழ்த்தும் அதன் கம்பீரமான அழகு, கல்நெஞ்சத்திலும் காதலின் எல்லையை உணர்த்தும் காவியச் சின்னம். உலக நாடுகளின் அதிபர்கள், ஆட்சியாளர்கள் இந்தியாவுக்கு சுற்றுப்பயணம் வரும் போது தாஜ்மஹாலின் அழகை கண்டு வியந்து போகிறார்கள்.
சுவாமி விவேகானந்தர் தாஜ்மகாலைப் பார்த்தபோது கூறிய கருத்து: "இங்குள்ள சலவைக் கல்துண்டு ஒன்றைப் பிழிய முடியுமானால் அதிலிருந்துகூட அந்த அரசனின் காதலும் சோகமும் சொட்டும். இதன் உள்ளே உள்ள அழகு வேலைப்பாட்டைக் கற்க வேண்டுமானால், ஒவ்வொரு சதுர அங்குலத்திற்கும் ஆறுமாதமாவது தேவைப்படும்'.
அமெரிக்க அதிபராக இருந்த பில் கிளிண்டன் இந்தியாவிற்கு வந்தபோது தாஜ்மஹாலைப் பார்த்து அதிசயித்து கூறிய சொற்கள் இவை. "உலக மக்களை இரண்டு வகையாகப் பிரிக்கலாம். ஒரு வகையினர் தாஜ்மஹாலை பார்த்து ரசித்தவர்கள்.இன்னொரு வகையினர் தாஜ்மஹாலைப் பார்க்காதவர்கள்'. 
தாஜ்மஹாலை பார்க்கிறபோது ஒவ்வொரு சமயமும் ஒரு அழகு தோன்றும். அதை சமயமாக்க வேண்டாம் என்பதே பலரின் கருத்து. இது சமய சின்னம் என்ற எண்ணம் மாற வேண்டும்.
மனைவியை கல்யாணத்துக்கு பிறகும் காதலித்த காதலன் ஷாஜஹான். அதற்கு சாட்சியே தலைநிமிர்ந்து நிற்கும் ஏழாவது அதிசயம் யாருக்கும் எட்டாத அதிசயம் இந்தியாவின் இந்த தாஜ்மஹால்..! நிலவொளியின் பொழிவில் அழகு தேவதையாக எழுந்து நிற்கும் அந்த வெண் பளிங்கு மாளிகை ஏன் எழுந்தது எப்படிஎழுந்தது? சற்று சரித்திரத்தின் பின்னே சென்று பார்ப்போம்... 
மும்தாஜ் இறந்து சரியாக ஒரு வருடம் கழித்து, வெனிஸ் நகரத்து வெரோனியா, துருக்கி நாட்டு உஸ்தாக் இசா அபாண்டி ஆகிய தலைசிறந்த கட்டடடக் கலைஞர்களை ஷாஜஹான் அழைத்து வந்தார். இவர்களோடு லாகூரைச் சேர்ந்த அகமத் என்பவரும் சேர்ந்து ஷாஜகானின் கனவை முதலில் காகிதத்தில் வடித்தார்கள். 
அடுத்த கட்டமாக கட்டடக் கலைஞர்கள், சிற்பிகள் என இருபதாயிரம் பேர் வேலைக்கு தேர்வு செய்யப்பட்டு பணிகளைத் தொடங்கினார். ஷாஜஹான் திட்டமிட்ட இருபதாண்டுகள் உழைப்பு! உலகமே வியக்கும் தாஜ்மஹால் என்னும் கலைப் பூ .
1633-ஆம் ஆண்டு தொடங்கி 1653 வரை சுமார் 1,000 யானைகள், 40,000 பணியாளர்கள் உழைப்பில் உருவான தாஜ்மஹாலின் வெளிப்புறக் கதவுகள் மற்றும் சுவர்களில் பதிக்க இந்தியாவைத் தவிர ரஷியா, திபெத், பாரசீகம் என பல இடங்களில் இருந்தும் வைரம், வைடூரியம், முத்து, பவளம் என விதம் விதமாக வரவழைத்து அழகு பார்த்தார் ஷாஜஹான். 
புனித குரானிலிருந்து குறிப்பிட்ட வாசகங்களை தேர்ந்தெடுத்து அவற்றை கல்லறையைச் சுற்றிலும் உள்ள சுவர்களில் பொறிப்பது என்று முடிவு செய்தார். இதற்காக உலகிலேயே மிகத் திறமையான பாரசீக கலைஞர் "அமானாத்கான்' பெயர் சிபாரிசுச் செய்யப்பட்டது. "நான் எந்த வேலைச் செய்தாலும் அதில் என் கையெழுத்தைப் போடுவேன்' என்று உறுதியாகக் கூறிய அவருக்கு அனுமதிக் கொடுத்தார் ஷாஜஹான். இன்றைக்கும் தாஜ்மஹாலில் அந்தச் சிற்பியின் கையெழுத்தைக் காணலாம்.
இப்படி அங்குலம் அங்குலமாக பொன் நகையை உருவாக்குவதுபோல் தாஜ்மஹாலைக் கட்டினார் ஷாஜஹான். தாஜ்மஹால் கட்டி முடிக்கப்பட்டு கொஞ்சம் காலம் அதனை முஸ்லிம்கள் மட்டுமே பார்க்க அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டனர். 
பிற்பாடு உலகெங்கிலும் இருந்து பலர் வர அந்தத் தடை தானாகவே நீங்கிப் போனது. இத்தகைய அழகான தாஜ்மஹால் அதன்பிறகு வந்த ஆங்கிலேயர்களின் கண்களை பறிக்காமல் இருக்குமா? 
பல ஆங்கில அதிகாரிகள் சுவர்களில் பதிக்கப்பட்ட வைர, வைடூரியங்களை சுரண்டி எடுத்துக் கொண்டு போனார்கள். லார்டு வில்லியம் பெண்டிங் என்பவர் இடித்து விடலாம் என்று கூறினார். இன்னும் பல ஆங்கிலேய அதிகாரிகள் தாஜ்மஹாலை ஒவ்வொரு கல்லாக பெயர்தெடுத்து, கப்பலில் ஏற்றிக் கொண்டு போய், இங்கிலாந்தில் இறக்கி மீண்டும் கட்டி விடலாம் என்று ஆலோசனை வழங்கினார். 
இன்றைக்கும் இப்படியோர் அற்புதக் கட்டடம் இந்தியாவில் இருக்கிறதென்றால் அதற்குக் காரணம் அப்போது வைஸ்ராயாக இருந்த கர்சன் பிரபு. கலைஞர்களின்பால் மிகுந்த ஆர்வமும், ஆசையும் கொண்டிருந்த அவர், தாஜ்மஹாலை நல்ல முறையில் பராமரிக்க ஒரு சட்டமே இயற்றினார். 
அதோடு மட்டுமல்ல, தாஜ்மஹாலில் மும்தாஜ் - ஷாஜஹான் கல்லறைகளுக்கு மத்தியில் மேலே ஒரு அழகான பித்தளை விளக்கு தொங்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கும். இதனைக் கெய்ரோவிலிருந்து வாங்கி, இங்கு தொங்கவிட்டவரே கர்சன் பிரபுதான். 
ஆங்கிலேயர்கள் பாதுகாத்த ஆசியாவின் அழகு கலைப் பொக்கிஷத்திற்கு எதிரான சர்ச்சைகள் என்பது புதிதல்ல. 2015-இல் ஒரு சர்ச்சை உண்டானது. ஆக்ரா மாவட்ட நீதிமன்றத்தில், வழக்குரைஞர்கள் தாக்கல் செய்த மனுவில், ஆக்ராவில், "தேஜோ மஹாலய' என்ற சிவன் கோவில் இருந்தது. 
இந்த கோவிலைத்தான், மொகலாய மன்னர் ஷாஜகான், கல்லறையாக மாற்றி, தாஜ் மஹால் கட்டினார். அங்கு, சிவன் கோவில் இருந்ததற்கான ஆதாரங்கள், அடையாளங்கள் இப்போதும் உள்ளன' என்று கூறப்பட்டிருந்தது.
இந்த மனுவை விசாரணைக்கு ஏற்ற நீதிமன்றம், இது தொடர்பாக விளக்கம் கேட்டு, மத்திய அரசு, மத்திய கலாசாரத்துறை அமைச்சகம், தொல்பொருள் ஆய்வுத்துறை ஆகியவற்றுக்கு நோட்டீஸ் அனுப்பியது. 
இதைத் தொடர்ந்து "தாஜ்மஹால் பகுதியில் கோவில் இருந்ததற்கான ஆதாரம் எதுவும் இல்லை' என்று மத்திய கலாசார அமைச்சகம் 2015-ஆம் ஆண்டு மே மாதமே நாடாளுமன்ற மக்களவையில் தெரிவித்து இருந்தது.
இந்தியா பல்வேறு சமய நம்பிக்கைகள் கொண்ட மக்கள் வாழும் நாடு. இந்திய மக்கள் பிற சமய மக்களின் நம்பிக்கைகளை மதித்து, ஒருவருக்கொருவர் அன்பு செலுத்தி ஒற்றுமையுடன் வாழ, இந்திய அரசியலமைப்புச் சட்டம் ஊக்கமும் ஆக்கமும் அளிக்கிறது. 
இனம், மதம், மொழி, நாடு கடந்து நேசிக்கப்படும், நம் இந்தியாவின் அடையாளங்களில் ஒன்றாகக் கருதப்படும் உலக அதிசயத்தை குறுகிய வட்டத்திற்குள் அடைக்காமல் பரந்துபட்ட நமது கலாசார அடையாளமாய் கருத வேண்டும். 
வேற்றுமையில் ஒற்றுமையாய், எல்லோரும் ஓர் குலம், எல்லோரும் ஓர் நிறையாய் வாழ்வதே நம் பாரதத்தின் சிறப்பு. 
"பிற சமயங்களைப் பற்றி அறிந்து கொண்டால் மட்டும் போதாது. பிற சமயங்களைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களின் சாதனைகளில் நம்மால் பங்கேற்க இயல வேண்டும். அப்போதுதான் சமயங்களிடையே நல்லிணக்கம் உருவாகும்' என்ற காந்தியின் சொற்கள் இங்கு நினைவுகூரத்தக்கது.

தமிழ்நாட்டில் விஜய் டி.வி புகழ் செஃப் வெங்கடேஷ் பட்டைத் தெரியாதவர்களிருக்க முடியாது. அவரது சமையல் நிகழ்ச்சிக்கு லட்சோபலட்சம் ரசிகர்கள் உண்டு. சமீபத்தில் யூ டியூபில் அவரது நேர்காணல் ஒன்றை காண நேர்ந்தது. மிக சுவாரஸ்யமான அந்த நேர்காணலில் வெங்கடேஷ் பட் நினைவு கூர்ந்த ஒரு விஷயம் ‘நச்’ ரகம். இந்த உலகில் அது செஃப் வேலையாகட்டும், இல்லை வேறு எந்த வேலையாகட்டும் எதிலுமே கற்றுக் கொள்வதில் இருக்கும் அர்ப்பணிப்பு உணர்வு அதாவது டெடிகேஷன் என்ற ஒரு விஷயம் பூரணமாக அமைந்து விட்டால் அதற்குப் பின்னால் அவர்களது வெற்றியை யாராலும் தடுக்க முடியாது என்பது தான் அது! அதற்கு உதாரண நிகழ்வாக அவர் குறிப்பிட்டதும் கூட ‘வாவ்’ ரகமான ஒரு சம்பவம்.

பாரம்பர்ய பிராமணக் குடும்பத்தைச் சேர்ந்த வெங்கடேஷ் பட் ஒரு தீவிரமான வெஜிடேரியன். ஆனால் செஃப் ஆக வந்து விட்டு வெஜிடேரியன் உணவை மட்டுமே தான் சமைப்பேன் என்றால் 5 நட்சத்திர உணவகங்களில் வேலையில் நீடிக்க முடியுமோ?! அந்த உணவகங்களின் சமையலறைக்கு வரும் அத்தனையையுமே... ஏன் அதன் விருந்தினர்கள் விரும்பும் அத்தனை வகை உணவுகளையுமே ஒரு செஃப் சமைத்துக் கொடுத்து தான் தீர வேண்டும். அதன்படி வெங்கடேஷ் பட்டை, ஆரம்ப நாட்களில் அவரது தலைமை சமையல்காரர் பணியாற்றப் பணித்த இடம், அசைவ உணவு வகைகளுக்காக கறி வெட்டும் கூடம். அங்கே மீன், மட்டன், சிக்கன், என கறி வெட்டிப் பழகுவதற்கே தனக்கு குறைந்த பட்சம் 6 மாதங்கள் ஆனது என்கிறார் வெங்கடேஷ் பட். 

அதுமட்டுமல்ல இரண்டு வருடங்கள் இவர் பயிற்சி செஃப் ஆகப் பணிபுரிந்து வேலை கற்றுக் கொண்டு வெளிவரவும், இவருக்கு மேலே இருந்த இரு பிரதான சமையல்காரர்கள் வேலையை விட்டு வேறிடம் செல்லவும் சரியாக இருக்கவே அவர்கள் வகித்த கிச்சன் செஃப் பதவி வெங்கடேஷ் பட்டுக்கு வருகிறது. அப்போது இவரது தலைமை செஃப் ஆக இருந்த சந்திர மெளலி என்பவர் சைவ பட்ஷிணியான வெங்கடேஷ் பட் அசைவ உணவுகளைச் சமைப்பதிலும் நன்றாகத் தேறி இருக்கிறாரா? இல்லையா என்பதைச் சோதிக்க தனக்கு இரவு உணவாக ஆப்பமும், மட்டன் ஸ்டியூவும் சாப்பிடச் சமைத்துத் தரச்சொல்லி கேட்டிருக்கிறார். தனக்கு தொழில் கற்றுத்தந்த குரு கேட்டு விட்டாரே... என்று மட்டன் ஸ்டியூவையும், ஆப்பத்தையும் ஒரு கை பார்த்து விடுவது என்று கங்கணம் கட்டிக் கொண்டு அசத்தலாக சமைத்து எடுத்துச் சென்றூ பரிமாறியிருக்கிறார் வெங்கடேஷ் பட். பரிமாறி விட்டு அவர் என்ன சொல்லப் போகிறாரோ! என்று அவரது வாயைப் பார்த்துக் கொண்டு இவர் நிற்க... தலைமை செஃப்போ, இவர் சமைத்த மட்டன் ஸ்டியூவை எடுத்து அப்படியே இவரது புறங்கையில் நன்றாகப் பிடித்து அழுத்தித் தேய்த்துக் காட்டியிருக்கிறார். ஏன் தெரியுமா?

மட்டன் நன்கு வெந்திருந்தால் இவர் தேய்த்த தேய்ப்புக்கு அப்படியே பூவிலிருந்து இதழ் உதிர்வது போல பூப்போல தனித்தனியாக மெத்தெனப் பிய்ந்து வரும். ஆனால், பார் நீ சமைத்த மட்டன் சரியாக வேகாததால் எத்தனை அழுத்தியும் அப்படியே கல் மாதிரி கிடக்கிறது’ என்றிருக்கிறார். இப்படி இருந்தால் 5 நட்சத்திர விடுதிகளுக்கு வரும் விருந்தினர்களுக்கு நீ சமைத்திருப்பது பிடித்திருக்கிறதா? இல்லையா? என்பதை நீ எப்படி தெரிந்து கொள்வாய்? என்பது போல ஒரு பார்வை பர்த்து விட்டு தலைமை செஃப் நகர்ந்து விட்டார்.

அதன் பிறகு நடந்த விஷயம் தான் அடடா! இதல்லவோ அர்ப்பணிப்பு ரகம்.

அன்று இரவு முழுவதும் செஃப் வெங்கடேஷ் பட் தூங்கவில்லை, உடை மாற்றவில்லை, அன்று வீடு திரும்பும் எண்ணமே இல்லை அவருக்கு. உடனடியாக மீண்டும் சமையலறைக்குச் சென்றார். தனக்குத் தேவையான அளவு மட்டனை கறி வெட்டும் இடத்தில் இருந்து எடுத்தார். எடுத்த ஆட்டுக்கறியை 20 நிமிடங்கள், 30 நிமிடங்கள், 40 நிமிடங்கள் எனத் தனித்தனியாகப் பிரித்து தனித்தனி பாத்திரங்களில் வேக வைத்துப் பரிசோதிக்கத் தொடங்கினார். ஆட்டுக்கறி எவ்வளவு நேரம் வேக வைக்கப் பட்டால் தலைமை செஃப் எதிர்பார்த்தது போல மட்டன் மிருதுவாக இருக்கும் எனத் தெரிந்து கொள்வதற்காகத் தான் இந்தச் சோதனை. முடிவில் வெங்கடேஷ் பட் ஆட்டுக்கறியை வேக வைப்பதற்கான பெர்ஃபெக்ட் குக்கிங் டைமை ஒருவழியாகக் கண்டறிந்தார்.

மறுநாள் காலையில் தலைமை செஃப், உணவகத்துக்கு திரும்பி வரும் போது... முதல் நாள் பார்த்த அதே உடையில் கையில் அவருக்கான பெர்ஃபெக்ட் மட்டன் ஸ்டியூவுடன் நின்ற வெங்கடேஷ் பட்டைக் கண்டதும் அவருக்கு ஆனந்தம் தாங்கவில்லை. தன் சிஷ்யப்பிள்ளையை தோளோடு சேர்த்து அணைத்துக் கொண்டு அப்போது அவர் சொன்னாராம். ‘ எதிர்காலத்தில் நீ ஒரு மிகப்பெரிய செஃப் ஆக வருவாய்... உன் வெற்றியை யாராலும் தடுக்க முடியாது’ என்று. அது நிஜமான சந்தோஷத்தில் இந்தச் சம்பவத்தைப் பற்றிக் குறிப்பிடுகையில், என் வாழ்க்கையில் நான் பெற்ற மிக அரிய பாராட்டாக இதைக் கருதுகிறேன் எனத் தெரிவித்தார் வெங்கடேஷ் பட்.
