`ஒரு இரும்புத் துண்டு... ஒரு தீக்குச்சி ...' - போலீஸைக் கலங்கடித்த ஏ.டி.எம் கொள்ளையர்களின் வாக்குமூலம்

சிறிய அளவிலான இரும்புத் துண்டு, தீக்குச்சி, மருந்து அட்டை ஆகியவை மூலம் ஏ.டி.எம் இயந்திரங்களில் நூதன முறையில் கொள்ளையடித்த வடமாநிலத்தைச் சேர்ந்த பட்டதாரி வாலிபர்களை போலீஸார் கைது செய்துள்ளனர். 

சென்னை ஜமீன் பல்லாவரத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர் சீனிவாசன். இவர், சென்னை எழிலகம் வளாகத்தில் உள்ள பொதுப்பணித்துறை அலுவலகத்தில் பணியாற்றுகிறார். இவர், எழிலகம் வளாகத்தில் உள்ள தேசிய மயமாக்கப்பட்ட வங்கியின் ஏ.டி.எம். மையத்தில் பணம் எடுக்க முயன்றார். அப்போது இயந்திரத்திலிருந்து பணம் வரவில்லை. ஆனால், வங்கி அக்கவுன்ட்டில் பணம் எடுக்கப்பட்டதாக எஸ்.எம்.எஸ். வந்தது. இதுகுறித்து வங்கியிலும் அண்ணா சதுக்கம் போலீஸ் நிலையத்திலும் சீனிவாசன் புகார் கொடுத்தார். 

அதன்பேரில் இன்ஸ்பெக்டர் தீபா விசாரணை நடத்தினார். அப்போது திடுக்கிடும் தகவல்கள் வெளியாகின. சம்பந்தப்பட்ட ஏ.டி.எம். இயந்திரத்திலிருந்து சீனிவாசன் மட்டுமல்லாமல் இன்னும் சிலரும் பாதிக்கபட்டது தெரியவந்தது. இதையடுத்து, சம்பந்தப்பட்ட ஏ.டி.எம். இயந்திரம் முன்பு போலீஸார் கண்காணிப்பில் ஈடுபட்டனர். அப்போது வடமாநிலத்தைச் சேர்ந்த இரண்டு பேர் அடிக்கடி இந்த ஏ.டி.எம் மையத்துக்குள் செல்லும் தகவல் கிடைத்தது. அவர்களை போலீஸார் ரகசியமாகக் கண்காணித்தனர். அப்போதுதான் ஏ.டி.எம் இயந்திரத்திலிருந்து நூதன முறையில் பணத்தை அவர்கள் எடுப்பது தெரியவந்தது. அவர்களை கையும் களவுமாகப் பிடிக்க போலீஸார் திட்டமிட்டனர். இதற்காக அங்குள்ள சிசிடிவி கேமரா பதிவுகளை போலீஸார் ஆய்வு செய்தனர். அப்போது, வடமாநில வாலிபர்களின் குட்டு வெளிப்பட்டது.

இதுகுறித்து போலீஸார் கூறுகையில், ``சீனிவாசன் கொடுத்த புகாரின் அடிப்படையில் சம்பந்தப்பட்ட ஏ.டி.எம் மையத்தில் கடந்த மூன்று மாதங்களாக மப்டியில் போலீஸார் கண்காணிப்புப் பணியில் ஈடுபட்டனர். அப்போது அந்த ஏ.டி.எம் மையத்துக்கு வருபவர்களை இரண்டு வடமாநில வாலிபர்கள் பின்தொடரும் தகவல் கிடைத்தது. இதனால் அந்த வாலிபர்களின் நடவடிக்கைகளைக் கண்காணித்தோம். அப்போது, ஏ.டி.எம் இயந்திரத்தில் பணம் எடுப்பவர்களுடன் வாலிபர்கள் பேசுவது சிசிடிவி வீடியோ பதிவு மூலம் தெரிந்தது. அடுத்து, பணம் எடுக்க வருபவர்கள் சென்றபிறகு அந்த ஏ.டி.எம் இயந்திரத்திலிருந்து ஏதோ ஒன்றை அவர்கள் எடுப்பதும், பிறகு பணத்தைப் பெறுவதும் சிசிடிவி வீடியோவில் தெரிந்தது. இதனால் அந்த வாலிபர்களை மடக்கிப்பிடித்தோம். அவர்களிடம் விசாரித்தபோது, பீகார் மாநிலம், கயா மாவட்டத்தைச் சேர்ந்த மனோகர்குமார், முன்னாகுமார் என்று தெரிந்தது. அவர்கள் இருவரும் பட்டதாரிகள். பீகாரிலிருந்து விமானத்தில் சென்னை வந்து, ஏ.டி.எம் மையங்களில் நூதன முறையில் கைவரிசை காட்டிவருவது தெரிந்தது. கொள்ளையடிப்பது எப்படி என்று அவர்கள் தெரிவித்த தகவல் எங்களுக்கே அதிர்ச்சியை ஏற்படுத்தியது. இரண்டு ஏ.டி.எம் இயந்திரங்கள் இருக்கும் இடத்தைத்தான் முதலில் இவர்கள் தேர்வு செய்வார்கள். அதுவும் பழைய ஏ.டி.எம். இயந்திரங்களில்தாம் எளிதில் கைவரிசை காட்ட முடியும். பணத்தை எடுக்க வரும் வாடிக்கையாளரைப் பின்தொடரும் இவர்கள், அருகில் உள்ள ஏ.டி.எம். மையத்தில் பணம் எடுப்பதைப் போல நீண்ட நேரம் காத்திருப்பார்கள். ஆனால், அருகில் உள்ள ஏ.டி.எம். இயந்திரத்தில் பணம் எடுப்பவரைக் கண்காணித்து அவர்களின் பாஸ்வேர்டு ஆகியவற்றை மனதில் பதியவைத்துக் கொள்வார்கள்.

அதற்கு முன்பு, ஏ.டி.எம் இயந்திரத்தின் கீ போர்டில் சிறிய அளவிலான இரும்புத் துண்டு, தீக்குச்சி, சிறிய அளவிலான மருந்து அட்டை ஆகியவற்றை நுழைத்துவிடுவார்கள். இதனால் ஏ.டி.எம் இயந்திரத்தில் கார்டை தேய்த்தவுடன், பாஸ்வேர்டை கீபோர்டில் போடும்போது அது வொர்க் ஆகாது. இதனால் இயந்திரம் பழுது என்று கருதி வாடிக்கையாளர் வெளியில் சென்றுவிடுவார்கள். உடனடியாக இவர்கள், கீ போர்டில் உள்ள இரும்புத் துண்டு, தீக்குச்சி, மருந்து அட்டைகளை வெளியில் எடுத்துவிட்டு பாஸ்வேர்டை டைப் செய்து பணத்தை எடுத்துக்கொள்வார்கள். இதுதான் இந்தக் கொள்ளையர்களின் ஸ்டைல். எழிலகத்தில் உள்ள ஏ.டி.எம். மையத்தில் மட்டுமல்லாமல் சென்னையில் பல இடங்களில் இவர்கள் கைவரிசைக் காட்டியுள்ளனர். கொள்ளையடிக்கப் பயன்படுத்திய இரும்புத் துண்டு, தீக்குச்சி, மருந்து அட்டை ஆகியவற்றைப் பறிமுதல் செய்துள்ளோம். அண்ணா சதுக்கம் போலீஸ் நிலையத்தில் மட்டும் 5 பேர் புகார் கொடுத்துள்ளனர். கொள்ளையடித்த பணத்தை அவர்களின் அம்மா அக்கவுன்டில் போட்டுள்ளனர். அதை மீட்க நடவடிக்கை எடுத்துள்ளோம். கடந்த பிப்ரவரி மாதத்திலிருந்து ஏ.டி.எம் மையங்களில் கொள்ளையடித்ததாக வடமாநிலக் கொள்ளையர்கள் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர்" என்றனர். 

இதுகுறித்து போலீஸ் உயரதிகாரி ஒருவர் கூறுகையில், ``எங்களிடம் சிக்கிய வடமாநில ஏ.டி.எம் கொள்ளையர்கள் மனோகர்குமார், முன்னாகுமார் ஆகியோரிடம் விசாரணை நடத்தியதில் பழைய ஏ.டி.எம் இயந்திரங்களில்தான் இவர்கள் நூதன முறையில் கைவரிசைக் காட்டியுள்ளனர். சிந்தாரிப்பேட்டையிலும் இவர்கள் ஏ.டி.எம் இயந்திங்களில் கொள்ளையடித்ததாகக் கூறியுள்ளனர். இவர்கள் சொகுசு வாழ்க்கை வாழ இதுபோன்று கொள்ளையடித்ததாகத் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர். இவர்களை பின்னாலிருந்து இயக்கும் நெட்வொர்க் குறித்து விசாரித்துவருகிறோம். வழக்கமாக ஏ.டி.எம் இயந்திரத்தில் பணம் வரவில்லை என்றால் சம்பந்தப்பட்ட வங்கியில் புகார் கொடுப்பதுண்டு. அவ்வாறு கொடுக்கப்படும் புகாருக்கு வங்கித் தரப்பில் உடனடி நடவடிக்கை எடுப்பதில்லை. இதனால்தான் இந்த ஏ.டி.எம் கொள்ளையர்கள் தொடர்ந்து குற்றச்செயல்களில் ஈடுபட்டுள்ளனர்" என்றார்.

வழக்கமாக இரானியக் கொள்ளையர்கள்தாம் விமானத்தில் வந்து கொள்ளையடிப்பார்கள். அந்தப் பாணியை பீகார் மாநில ஏ.டி.எம் கொள்ளையர்கள் பின்பற்றியுள்ளனர். பீகாரிலிருந்து சென்னை வந்த மனோகர்குமார், முன்னாகுமார் இருவரும் அந்தப் பகுதியில் உள்ள விடுதியில் தங்கியுள்ளனர். அங்கிருந்து டிப் டாப் உடையணிந்து இரண்டு ஏ.டி.எம் இயந்திரங்கள் இருக்கும் மையங்களை முதலில் தேர்வு செய்துகொள்வார்கள். அதுவும் பழைய ஏ.டி.எம் இயந்திரங்களில்தாம் இரும்புத் துண்டு, தீக்குச்சி, மருந்து அட்டைகளை நுழைக்க முடியும். புதிய ஏ.டி.எம் இயந்திரங்களில் டச் ஸ்கீரின் என்பதால் கொள்ளையடிக்க முடியாது என்றும் அவர்கள் போலீஸிடம் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர். 

இதுகுறித்து வங்கித் தரப்பில் பேசியவர்கள், ``பொதுவாக ஏ.டி.எம் இயந்திரத்தில் பணம் வரவில்லை என்றால் கேன்சல் பட்டனை அழுத்திவிட்டு அங்கிருந்து வெளியில் வரவேண்டும். ஆனால், சில வாடிக்கையாளர்கள் அதைச் செய்வதில்லை. வாடிக்கையாளர்களின் கவனக்குறைவே கொள்ளையர்களுக்கு பிளஸ் பாயின்ட்டாக அமைகிறது. இப்படியும் கொள்ளையடிப்பார்களா என்று எங்களை யோசிக்க வைத்துள்ளது" என்றனர்.

Selling degrees via job promises

We are a group of 30 students who did a course in business management from a private institute that promised us lucrative jobs abroad. However, even two years after completion of the course, none of us has got a job. We are fed up and want the institute to return our fee and also pay compensation for failing to keep its promise. In fact, we were first attracted to the course after we saw a news programme on a television channel, which said that this was an excellent college that ensured jobs for all those graduating from there. What would be the best course of action for us now?

It seems like you have fallen for advertisements masquerading as news on certain channels. In fact, following complaints of this sort, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had, in March last year, warned television channels against such promotional programmes aimed at misleading the consumers.

Pointing out that, as per Section 6 of the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, read with Rule 7(10) of the Cable Television Networks Rules, 1994, all advertisement should be clearly distinguishable from the programmes, the ministry advised all TV channels to follow the advertising code. Any violation will attract penal provision, it had said. 

I would now suggest that all of you come together and complain against the channel and the institute to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. I would also advise all of you to file a class action suit before the consumer court, seeking refund and compensation from the institute. You can write the complaint yourself, give the name and full address of the college, state the facts accurately and briefly and logically explain the reasons for the amount of compensation that you are seeking. Provide adequate evidence to back your statements.

Can you quote some cases to help us?

The consumer courts have given relief to students in a number of such cases. Let me quote two important ones.

In Buddhist Mission Dental College and Hospital Vs Bhupesh Khurana and others, where the college was neither recognised by the Dental Council of India nor affiliated to Magadh University, as claimed, 11 students filed a complaint before the apex consumer court. The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, in its 2000 order, held the college guilty of unfair trade practice for misrepresenting facts. The institute was also guilty of deficiency in service. The commission directed the college to refund the fee paid by the students along with 12 per cent interest and also pay Rs 20,000 as compensation to each student.

Both the parties went to the Supreme Court in appeal. The students wanted the compensation increased to Rs 1.25 lakh. They also wanted the college to refund Rs 1 lakh collected as capitation fee. The institution, in turn, challenged the order of the apex consumer court. The Supreme Court upheld the view of the apex consumer court and awarded the students an additional compensation of Rs 1 lakh each and also litigation cost of Rs 1 lakh to each of them (Civil Appeal NO 1135 of 2001).

The case of Tesol India Vs Shri Govind Singh Patwal (Revision Petition No 2501 of 2010) is similar to yours. Here too, the college guaranteed ‘overseas jobs’. The students realised only too late that this was just an advertisement gimmick. The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, which first heard the case, directed the college to refund the fee collected from the six complainants. It also awarded compensation varying from Rs 7,500 to Rs 20,000, besides costs.

The college appealed at the state level and, later, the national level. It argued that it had only promised to help the students secure jobs and not guaranteed any. The National Consumer Commission pointed out that the ads were not only misleading in nature, but totally false as the college had failed to get them jobs and this amounted to unfair trade practice.

Absent for long, 161 Haryana govt doctors face axe

As many as 161 government doctors who have been absenting themselves from duty for long face the axe.

Sources say the state government has decided to serve them notice through newspapers, asking them to rejoin duty within a specified time. If they fail to rejoin, the government will dismiss them from service.

Confirming the development, Health Minister Anil Vij said more than 150 doctors had been absent from duty for long, some of them for several years.

“We want to recruit new doctors to address the problem of shortage. We can recruit new people only against sanctioned posts. If more than 150 sanctioned posts are occupied by doctors who are not working, it is double jeopardy for us, as they neither working with us nor enabling us to fill those posts,” Vij said.

Asked whether or not the 161 doctors are those who executed a bond for serving the Haryana Government in lieu of pursuing their post-graduation, Vij replied in the negative. “They might have started private practice or joined service in other states without resigning from the Haryana Government,” he said.

Jasbir Singh Parmar, the president of the Haryana Civil Medical Services (HCMS), an organisation of government doctors in the state, claimed that poor service conditions in the state made the doctors to quit.

“The Delhi and Punjab Government give better salaries to their doctors. Besides, Delhi gives four assured career progressions (ACPs) in fourth, ninth, thirteenth and twentieth year of service, while Punjab gives three ACPs in fourth, ninth and fourteenth year, but Haryana gives three ACPs in fifth, tenth and fifteenth year of service,” Dr Parmar alleged.

Sources say the problem of shortage of doctors is of bigger proportions.

Sources said that of the 3,083 sanctioned posts of doctor (medical officer) in the Haryana Health Department, about 500 are lying vacant.

This does not mean that 2,583 doctors are actually working. Apart from 161 doctors who have been absent from duty, about 300 are on childcare leave on any given day and as many doctors are on paid study leave. And about 50 doctors are on deputation to Chandigarh.

To make matters worse, sources in the department say there is inequitable distribution of doctors across the state as doctors prefer postings in Panchkula and Gurugram.

“In all, 194 medical officers are posted in the Director of Health Services and other allied institutions in Panchkula, even when there is no post sanctioned for them. Besides, 18 doctors are working without a sanctioned post in Panchkula district,” the sources said.

A case has been registered with Tambaram police who will investigate the case.

 They have also issued a statement about harmful effects of overcharging a mobile phone to warn the public.

Chennai: Two people hailing from Ranganathapuram in Tambaram died in a fire caused by the explosion of a mobile phone on Saturday.

Habib Mohammed (90) and daughter Muharumisha (60) succumbed to injuries at the Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital sustained after a second-hand mobile they had bought from the Pallavaram market exploded late at night.

The incident occurred after the duo, who are fruit sellers,  returned home, and went to sleep after plugging the phone to charge and burning a mosquito coil to ward off mosquitoes. The police initially assumed that the fire was caused by the mosquito coil. Her children, who live close by,  rushed to the scene and took them to the hospital.

Habib died early in the morning while Muharumisha was able to given a statement to the Tambaram police, before succumbing to her wounds at around 11 am on Saturday. She said that the fire was caused by the mobile phone and not by the mosquito coil burning next to it.

 Dental students who fail in the first year exams have wait as a ‘break’ for a period of six months before one appears for supplementary exam.

Chennai: The government dental students who need to follow ‘break system’ to appear for supplementary exams are demanding supplementary exam to be held as per the exam regulations for MBBS students.

In a meeting held on Saturday, members of Doctors’ Association for Social Equality urged the state government to regulate the ‘break system’.

Dental students who fail in the first year exams have wait as a ‘break’ for a period of six months before one appears for supplementary exam. However, for MBBS students, supplementary exam is held within a month. The system is similar for MBBS systems till last year of their course.“State government authorities should look into the ‘break system’ of supplementary exams for dental students in first year. We want that ‘break system’ should be dissolved and supplementary exam should be held within a month for BDS students also,” said Dr Raveendranath, secretary, Doctors’ Association for Social Equality. “Though medical colleges charge six months of tuition fees, if you have not passed any of the first year of dentistry in the first year, the break is a state of ‘disqualification’ for six months before re-examination. This system has been cancelled for MBBS students, and should be cancelled for BDS students also,” said a BDS student at Government Dental College. Members of Interns and Postgraduates Association of
Tamil Nadu also demanded an increase in stipend provided by the state government to the medical interns and postgraduate students. Postgraduate students say that the stipend paid to the medical students in other states of the country is more than what is paid to the medical interns and postgraduate students of Tamil Nadu and should be increased.

TUMAKURU: A man from Kesturu village has indeed loved his neighbour like he loves himself, and in the process helped himself to his neighbour’s assets. Over three years, Rajanna stealthily milked cows that belonged to Narasimharaju till he was caught in the act recently.

An owner of a cow himself, Rajanna, a native of the village near Tumakuru, went on to confess that he envied his neighbours, who owned four cows.

Manjulamma would milk her cows at 5.30 am every day. As he was aware of this routine, Rajanna would beat her to it and milk a cow of his neighbours as early as 3.30 am. He would draw about 5 litres and sell it saying it came from his cow.

A worried Manjulamma consulted a veterinarian asking him to diagnose the reason for the decreased quantity of milk yielded by her cows. The vet clarified that there was nothing wrong with her cows.
The woman then suspected her husband, who, she thought, was making an extra buck to feed his addiction, which was alcohol. When she confronted Narasimharaju with the accusation, he wanted to get to the bottom of things. In a bid to clear his name, he began keeping a close eye on their cows.  

After many a sleepless night, he one day caught his neighbour “robbing” milk from one of their cows “as early as 3.30 in the morning.” “When I heard some sounds coming from our cow shed, I went out there and held a torch in the man’s face who was milking our cow and thus making the noise that attracted me. It was Rajanna, but he escaped,” the man narrated his experience to the police. The police booked Rajanna under the ‘non-cognizable offence’.

Meanwhile, the issue had circulated in the village following which the heads of the village held a meeting to settle the matter. They instructed Rajanna to pay ` 30,000 as a penalty to Narasimharaju, which he has promised to settle soon.

CHENNAI: A difference of Rs 1 in remittance to settle a loan has allegedly resulted in a bank’s refusal to return 131 grams of gold pledged by a man.

According to his advocate M Sathyan, C Kumar had pledged 131 grams of jewellery and availed a loan of Rs 1.23 lakh on April 6, 2010 from Pallavaram branch of Kancheepuram Central Co-operative Bank Limited. He returned Rs 14,590 on March 28, 2011 and paid the entire balance amount, with interest, but the bank received only Rs 1,37,761 and kept Rs 1 as a pending balance, Sathyan told the Madras High court.

“Even though the petitioner was willing to pay the Rs 1, the bank rejected the offer and refused to return the jewels,” Sathyan alleged.

The Madras High Court directed the government advocate to obtain instructions on a writ plea from a member of the bank. Justice T Raja gave the direction while admitting a writ plea from Kumar last week.

CHENNAI: Counselling for MBBS and BDS admissions, which began at the Government Multi Super-Speciality Hospital in the Omandurar Estate on Sunday, was marked by confusion and arguments. 

Under the special category quota covering sportspersons, the students with disabilities and wards of ex-servicemen, out of 101 candidates called for, 63 attended the counselling. On day one, 38 MBBS seats in government medical colleges and two BDS seats in government dental colleges were filled up, 14 candidates opted out and eight were wait-listed.

Though the government has increased the number of MBBS seats under the sports quota from three to seven this year, a sportperson, who couldn’t get seat, said the State was not doing justice to sportspersons by not increasing the percentage of seats for them.  K Priya, a basket ball player from Coimbatore, couldn’t get seat as more students scored high marks this year.”My sports achievement mark last year was 490, and this year 360. It has dropped because I couldn’t participate in a national tournament in Punjab because the NEET-UG was scheduled for the same day. So, this year too I lost MBBS seat”.

“The government should increase the percentage of seats allotted under the sports quota. It has now increased it from 0.09 per cent to 0.25 per cent, but in Kerala it is 0.58 per cent and even in Puducherry it is 1 per cent,” said  S Krishnamoorthy, father of Priya.Meanwhile, there was confusion when the disabled candidates whose names had figured in the rank list ,but were not found in the shortlist prepared by the selection committee. After arguments, the candidates were sent for evaluation. 

After doctors certified that the candidates are above 50 per cent disabled, they were allowed for the counselling. A few others were sent back as they are not eligible. Among the students with disabilities, who secured seats after evaluation, were R Dhanalakshmi from Chennai and Vinoth Kumar from Thanjavur.Counselling for the general category will begin at 9 am on July 2 at the same venue.

CHENNAI : In what appears to be a move to pacify the Nagercoil rail users who have been vehemently demanding merger of their railway lines with the Madurai division on account of the alleged step-motherly treatment meted out by the Thiruvananthapuram division to them, the Southern Railway has proposed to introduce a tri-weekly express train between Tambaram and Nagercoil.

“A proposal to operate a new train via Villupuram, Tiruchy, Madurai and Tirunelveli has been sent to the Railway Board for approval. An official announcement is expected in the time-table scheduled to be released on August 15,” said top officials of the Southern Railway.Residents of Nagercoil located about 750 km from the state capital fully rely on the train services to reach Chennai. 

Presently, the Kanniyakumari Express runs packed throughout the year. Another weekly express operated from Central-Nagercoil could not meet increasing passenger demand. “It’s impossible to get sleeper tickets in Kanniyakumari Express on weekends. For a population of 30 lakh, we are left with only one daily express train to Chennai,” said Kanniyakumari Rail Users Association general secretary P Edward Jeni. 

A Senior official said works on construction of pit lines and stabling lines at Nagercoil station had already begun.

இந்திய அரசு தொழில்நுட்பங்களை பயன்படுத்தி சுற்றுச்சூழல் பாதிப்பை தடுக்க முயற்சிகளை மேற்கொண்டு வருகிறது. தில்லி மக்கள் சுமார் 1 ஆண்டுக்குப் பிறகு 2 நாட்களுக்கு முன்னர்தான் சுத்தமான காற்றை சுவாசித்துள்ளனர் என்ற தகவல் அவர்களுக்கு மகிழ்ச்சியை ஏற்படுத்தினாலும், கடந்த 1 ஆண்டாக அவர்கள் சுவாசித்த காற்றின் விளைவு நிச்சயம் வரும் நாட்களில் வெளிவரும். 

இந்திய நகரங்களில் அதிகம் மாசு அடைந்த நகரங்களில் சென்னையும் முக்கிய இடம் வகிக்கிறது. வரும் நாட்களில் தில்லி மக்கள் சந்தித்த அந்த நிலையை சென்னை உள்ளிட்ட பிற முக்கிய நகரங்களில் வசிக்கும் மக்களும் சந்திக்கும் நிலைமை எவ்வளவு தொலைவில் உள்ளது என்று தெரியவில்லை. ஆனால், நாள்தோறும் உயரும் தொழிற்சாலைகளின் எண்ணிக்கை, வாகனங்களின் எண்ணிக்கை நிச்சயம் அந்த இடத்தை அடையச் செய்யும் என்பதில் சந்தேகம் இல்லை. 

அதற்கு தயாராவதற்கு சுற்றுச்சூழல் மாசை தடுப்பது ஒரு வழி. அந்த நிலை வந்த பிறகு, அதனை எதிர்கொள்வதற்கான புதிய முறை கண்டுபிடிப்பது 2-ஆவது முறை.

அந்த 2-ஆவது முறை தற்போது சென்னைக்கு வந்துள்ளது. சர்வதேச அரங்கில் ஒரு சில நாட்களில் இந்த நிலை ஏற்கனவே நடைமுறைக்கு வந்துவிட்டாலும் சென்னைக்கு இது முதன்முறை.

திருப்பதி செல்வோர் கட்டாயம் தெரிந்துகொள்ள வேண்டிய விஷயம்!

திருமலை திருப்பதியில் உள்ள எழுமலையான் கோயிலில் ஆகஸ்ட் 16-ம் தேதி மகாசம்ப்ரோக்ஷணம் நடைபெற உள்ளது. 

ஏழுமலையான் கோயிலில் வரும் ஆகஸ்ட் 12-ம் தேதி முதல் 16-ம் தேதி வரை அஷ்ட பந்தன மகாசம்ப்ரோக்ஷணம் நடைபெற உள்ளது. அதற்கான ஆயத்தப் பணிகள் நடைபெற்று வருகின்றது. 

ஆகஸ்ட் 11-ம் தேதி அங்குரார்ப்பணம் நடைபெற உள்ளது. மகாசம்ப்ரோக்ஷணத்திற்கு கங்கண பட்டராக தலைமை அர்ச்சகர் வேணுகோபால தீட்சிதர் செயல்படுவார். அவருடன் 44 வேத விற்பன்னர்கள், 100-க்கும் மேற்பட்ட வேத பண்டிதர்கள், பிரபந்த பண்டிதர்கள், வேத பாடசாலை மாணவர்கள் பங்கு கொள்ள உள்ளனர். 

இதையடுத்து, ஆகஸ்ட் 12-ம் தேதி முதல் 16-ம் தேதி வரை அனைத்து ஆர்ஜித சேவைகள், விஐபி பிரேக் தரிசனம், பரிந்துரைக் கடிதங்களுக்கான தரிசனம் உள்ளிட்டவை ரத்து செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது.

விஐபிகளுக்கு மட்டுமே குறைந்த எண்ணிக்கையில் தரிசனம் வழங்கப்படும். ஆகஸ்ட் 15-ம் தேதி மகாசாந்தி திருமஞ்சனம், 16-ம் தேதி காலை 10.16 மணிக்கு துலா லக்கினத்தில் மகாசம்ப்ரோக்ஷணம் நடைபெற உள்ளது. அதன்பின், தொடர்ந்து 48 நாட்கள் அதாவது ஆகஸ்ட் 17-ம் தேதி முதல் அக்டோபர் 3-ம் தேதி வரை மண்டல அபிஷேகம் நடைபெற உள்ளது.

ஒரு ஆண்டுக்கு 730 ஜி.பி 1,999 தான் : பிஎஸ்என்எல் புதிய சலுகை

சென்னை: 1,999க்கு ஒரு வருடத்திற்கு 730 ஜி.பி டேட்டாவும், அன்லிமிடெட் தொலைபேசி அழைப்பையும் வழங்கும் புதிய சலுகையை பி.எஸ்.என்.எல் அறிவித்துள்ளது.   இதுகுறித்து, பிஎஸ்என்எல் வெளியிட்ட அறிக்கையில் கூறியிருப்பதாவது: தமிழ்நாடு வட்டத்தில் ‘எஸ்.டி.வி 1999’ என்ற ஒரு வருட புதிய சலுகையை பிஎஸ்என்எல் அறிமுகப்படுத்துகிறது.   அதன்படி, சென்னை தொலை தொடர்பு வட்டம் மற்றும் தமிழ்நாடு தொலைதொடர்பு வட்டம் ஆகிய இரண்டிற்கும் இந்த சலுகை பொருந்தும். 1,999 செலுத்தி 730 ஜி.பி டேட்டாவை ஒரு வருடத்துக்கு பெற்றுக்கொள்ளலாம். நாள் ஒன்றுக்கு 2 ஜி.பி என கணக்கீடு செய்யப்படுகிறது. இதேபோல், அளவில்லா குரல் அழைப்புகள் மற்றும் 100 எஸ்எம்எஸ் வழங்கப்படுகிறது. மற்ற தொலைதொடர்பு நிறுவனங்கள் இதுபோன்ற சலுகையை கொடுத்தது இல்லை. இந்த சலுகை வரும் செப்டம்பர் 22ம் தேதி வரை நடைமுறையில் இருக்கும். இந்த திட்டத்தின்படி தனிநபர் ஒருவருக்கு அளவில்லா அழைப்பு, எஸ்எம்எஸ் மற்றும் டேட்டா ஆகியவற்றை உள்ளடக்கி 5.50 பைசா மட்டுமே நாள் ஒன்றுக்கு செலவாகும். ஓராண்டுக்கு 36,500 இலவச எஸ்எம்எஸ் வழங்கப்படுகிறது. இந்த சலுகையானது அதிக நேரம் தொலைபேசியில் பேசுபவர்களுக்கும், நீண்ட நாட்கள் வெளியூர் பயணம் செய்பவர்களுக்கும் மிகவும் பயனுள்ளதாக இருக்கும் என கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது

For 125 seats allocated for persons with disability, less than 30 applications received

The first phase of counselling for medical and dental seats under state quota began on Sunday for candidates in special categories.

A total of 40 seats, including 38 in medical colleges and two in dental, were allotted.

Though 125 seats were allocated for persons with disability, less than 30 applications were received by the selection committee of the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University.

Candidates

A total of 103 candidates were invited for counselling on Sunday, including 60 in the ex-servicemen category and 15 in the eminent sportspersons category.

K. Priya, a basketball player from Coimbatore, who chose to be waitlisted, was upset that despite taking NEET this year and scoring 360 marks in the sports category, she was not able to get a seat.

“Puducherry has allocated 1% of seats and other States have set aside 0.5% of total seats for sports category, but in Tamil Nadu only 0.09% seats are for sportspersons.

“I could not attend a match this year as on the same day I had to appear for NEET. Had I played I would have scored higher marks,” she lamented.

For some like R. Dhanalakshmi of Manali, daughter of a timber shop owner, it was a wait-and-watch situation.

She had set her heart on becoming a doctor, but had not scored enough in NEET last year.

This year, with a score of 263 the candidate, who is certified 60% disabled, was disappointed that her name did not figure in the list.

However, after evaluation by a team of doctors, she was permitted to attend counselling.

She was allotted a seat in Kilpauk Medical College. A. Vinoth Kumar, who has lower limb disability, and a NEET score of 269, was permitted to attend counselling after being reassessed by doctors.

He was allotted a seat in Thanjavur Medical College.

Selection committee secretary G. Selvarajan said 90 seats were added to the general pool on Sunday after the Medical Council of India approved the intake of seats in Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Medical College.
