வடகிழக்கு பருவமழையோ   அல்லது தென்மேற்கு பருவமழையோ எதுவாக இருந்தாலும் இந்திய வானிலை ஆய்வு மையம் அறிவித்த தேதியில் தொடங்குகிறது என்றால் அது மகிழ்ச்சிக்குரிய விஷயம். புகை கக்கும் தொழிற்சாலைகள், மண் வளம் தின்னும் பிளாஸ்டிக் கழிவுகள், வாகனப் புகை இன்னும் எத்தனையோ மாசுகளை மட்டுமே நாம் இயற்கைக்கு தந்தாலும் பேரன்போடு நமக்கு இன்னும் பருவம் தவறாமல் மழையைக் கொடுத்திருக்கிறது இயற்கை அன்னை.

அத்தகைய வரத்தை வணங்கி இன்புற வேண்டும். ஆனால் சென்னை மக்களோ மழை வந்தாலே பீதியில் ஆழ்ந்துவிடுகின்றனர். காரணம் 2015-ம் ஆண்டு சென்னையில் ஏற்பட்ட வெள்ளப்பெருக்கு. அந்த வெள்ளப்பெருக்குதான் தலைநகர் சென்னையில் வடிகால்கள் ஏதும் தூர்வாரப்படவில்லை, முகத்துவாரங்களை கழிவுகள் மூடிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறது, ஏரிகளில் கட்டிடங்கள் ஆக்கிரமித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றன என்ற உண்மையை உரக்க உணர்த்தியது. ஆனால், அரசு உணர்ந்ததா?

ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமையில் இருந்துதான் சென்னையில் பரவலாக மழை பெய்கிறது. ஆனால் இரண்டு மூன்று நாட்களிலேயே சென்னையின் பல்வேறு பகுதிகளும் மழைநீர் தேங்கி வெள்ளக்காடாக காட்சியளிக்கிறது.

இப்படி தண்ணீர் தேங்குவதற்கு என்னதான் காரணம்?

இதுகுறித்து சுற்றுச்சூழல் ஆர்வலர் நித்யானந்த் ஜெயராமனிடம் 'தி இந்து' தமிழ் இணையதளம் சார்பில் பேசியபோது, "இரண்டு நாள் மழைக்கே நகரில் பல இடங்களில் தேங்கியிருக்கிறதுதான். ஆனால், இதற்கு ஒட்டுமொத்தமாக அரசாங்கத்தை மட்டுமே கைகாட்டிவிடமுடியாது. 40 ஆண்டுகளாக ஆக்கிரமிப்பு தவற்றை செய்திருக்கிறோம். அதை ஓரிரு ஆண்டுகளில் சரிசெய்துவிட முடியாது. இப்போது அரசு ஆக்கிரமிப்புகளை அகற்றி, தூர்வாரும் பணிகளை சிறப்பாக செய்ய ஆரம்பித்தால் 3 அல்லது 4 வருடங்களில் வெற்றிகரமாக முடித்துவிடலாம்.

இப்படி சாதாரண மழைக்கே தண்ணீர் பெருக்கெடுப்பதைத் தவிர்க்க வேண்டும் என்றால் மழைநீர் கால்வாய்களை சீர் செய்தால் மட்டும் போதாது. மையக் கால்வாய்களான கூவம், அடையாறு, கொசஸ்தலை ஆற்றின் கொள்ளவு குறைந்திருக்கிறது. இதற்குப் பிரதான காரணம் ஆக்கிரமிப்புகள் மட்டுமே. 2105-ல் சென்னையில் ஏற்பட்ட பெருவெள்ளத்துக்குப் பிறகு தமிழக அரசு தெரிந்தே கொசஸ்தலை ஆற்றின் முகத்துவாரத்தில் சுமார் 480 ஏக்கரை காமராஜர் துறைமுகத்துக்காக ஆக்கிரமித்திருக்கிறது. இது பேராபத்தை விளைவிக்கக்கூடியது.

ஏனெனில் குடிசை ஆக்கிரமிப்புகளால் அதில் வசிக்கும் மக்களுக்கு மட்டுமே பாதிப்பு. ஆனால், வல்லூர் அனல்மின் நிலையம் போன்ற நிறுவனங்கள் ஆக்கிரமிப்பில் ஈடுபட்டால் அது ஒட்டுமொத்த ஊருக்கே பாதிப்பு.

இரண்டு விஷயங்களை இந்த அரசு செய்ய வேண்டியுள்ளது. முதலாவதாக, பணக்காரர்கள், குடிசைவாசிகள் என பேதம் இல்லாமல் ஆக்கிரமிப்புகளை அகற்ற வேண்டும்.

வல்லூர் அனல்மின் நிலையத்துக்காக அரசே முகத்துவாரத்தை ஆக்கிரமிக்கிறது என்றால் அது மக்கள் மத்தியில் தவறான முன்னுதாரணமாக இருக்கும். இதே குடிசைவாசிகளாக இருந்தால் போலீஸைக் கொண்டு கட்டாயமாக அப்புறப்படுத்தும் அரசு, ஆக்கிரமிப்புகளை அனுமதிக்காததில் நல்ல முன்மாதிரியாக இருக்க வேண்டாமா? இரட்டை நிலைப்பாட்டைத் தவிர்த்து அனைத்து ஆக்கிரமிப்புகளையும் அரசு அகற்ற வேண்டும்.

இரண்டாவதாக, மழைநீர் கால்வாய்களை தூர்வாருவது மட்டுமல்ல தற்போது நல்ல நிலையில் இருக்கும் நீர்நிலைகளை சீரமைத்து பாதுகாக்கும் பணியிலும் ஈடுபட வேண்டும். இவையே தண்ணீர் பற்றாக்குறையைத் தீர்க்கவும் சாதாரண மழைக்கு சாலையில் வெள்ளம் தேங்குவதைத் தடுக்கவும் தீர்வு"

இவ்வாறு அவர் கூறினார்.

எண்ணூரில் இருந்து முட்டுக்காடு வரையில், ஏறக்குறைய 49 கிலோமீட்டர் உள்ள கால்வாயை தூர்வாரி இருந்தால், சென்னை மாநகரில் எந்தவொரு இடத்திலும் தண்ணீர் தேங்க முடியாத நிலை ஏற்பட்டிருக்கும் என திமுக செயல் தலைவர் மு.க.ஸ்டாலின் தெரிவித்திருக்கும் நிலையில், மழை முன்னெச்சரிக்கை நடவடிக்கைகள் குறித்து சென்னை மாநகராட்சி ஆணையர் கார்த்திகேயனைத் தொடர்பு கொள்ள முயற்சித்தோம்.

ஆனால், அவர் பிரதமர் வருகைக்கான ஆயத்தப் பணிகளை மேற்கொள்ளும் ஆலோசனைக் கூட்டத்தில் இருப்பதால் கேள்விகளை வாட்ஸ் அப்பில் அனுப்புமாறு மாநகராட்சியின் மக்கள் தொடர்பு அதிகாரி தெரிவித்தார். இதனையடுத்து வாட்ஸ் அப் மூலம் கேள்விகள் அனுப்பியுள்ளோம். பதிலுக்காக காத்திருக்கிறோம்.

வாட்ஸ் அப்பில் ஒருவருக்கு அனுப்பிய தகவலை அழிக்கும் வசதியை வாட்ஸ் அப் அறிமுகப்படுத்தி உள்ளது. ஆனால், அனுப்பிய தகவலை 7 நிமிடங்களுக்குள் அழிக்கவேண்டும்.

இதன்மூலம் குழுக்களுக்கும் தனி நபர்களுக்கும் தவறுதலாகவோ, தெரியாமலோ அனுப்பப்பட்ட குறுஞ்செய்திகளை திரும்பப் பெறமுடியும். ஆனால் பெறுபவர்களுக்கு ’இந்த செய்தி அழிக்கப்பட்டது’ என்ற செய்தி வாட்ஸ் அப் தரப்பில் இருந்து அனுப்பப்படும். எப்படி அழிப்பது?

முதலில் ப்ளே ஸ்டோர் சென்று வாட்ஸ் அப் செயலியை அப்டேட் செய்துகொள்ள வேண்டும். செய்திகளையோ, புகைப்படங்களையோ மற்ற ஆவணங்களையோ அழிக்கும் வசதியை மேம்படுத்தப்பட்ட (Updated) வாட்ஸ் அப் சேவையில் மட்டுமே பெற முடியும்.

இதன் பின்னர் செய்தியை அழிக்கும் 'டெலிட்' பொத்தானைத் தொட்டால், மூன்று தெரிவுகள் திரையில் மிளிரும். நமக்கு மட்டும் அழிக்கவேண்டுமா (Delete for me), வெளியே வந்துவிடலாமா (Cancel), எல்லோருக்கும் அழிக்க வேண்டுமா (Delete for Everyone) என்பன அவை.

இதில் 'Delete for Everyone' தேர்வு மூலம் செய்திகளை அழிக்கமுடியும். ஆனால் செய்தியை அனுப்பிய 7 நிமிடங்களுக்குள் அழிக்கவேண்டும். உடனே நமக்கு 'இந்த மெசேஜை நீக்கிவிட்டீர்கள்' (You deleted this message) என்று வாட்ஸ் அப் நமக்கு செய்தி அனுப்பும்.



இதன்மூலம் குழுக்களுக்கும் தனி நபர்களுக்கும் தவறுதலாகவோ, தெரியாமலோ அனுப்பப்பட்ட குறுஞ்செய்திகளை திரும்பப் பெறமுடியும். ஆனால் பெறுபவர்களுக்கு 'இந்த செய்தி அழிக்கப்பட்டது' (This message was deleted)என்ற செய்தி வாட்ஸ் அப் தரப்பில் இருந்து அனுப்பப்படும்.

ஏராளமான குறுஞ்செய்தி செயலிகள் இணைய சந்தையில் வரத் தொடங்கியுள்ள நிலையில், உலகின் மிகப்பெரிய குறுஞ்செய்தி நிறுவனமான வாட்ஸ் அப் தனது பயனர்களுக்குத் தொடர்ந்து பல்வேறு புதிய அம்சங்களை அறிமுகப்படுத்தி வருவது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது. குறிப்பாக ஃபேஸ்புக் நிறுவுனம், வாட்ஸ் அப்பைக் கையகப்படுத்திய பிறகு, இத்தகைய சிறப்பம்சங்கள் முன்னெடுக்கப்பட்டு வருகின்றன.

ஐந்து பட்டங்கள்.. பதினாறு பட்டயங்கள்.. அசரவைக்கும் அரசுப் போக்குவரத்துக் கழக நடத்துநர்!

இசைக் கருவிகளுடன் பிரகாஷ்..



‘ஊட்டியைச் சேர்ந்த பிரகாஷ் 5 டிகிரி படித்து, 16 பட்டயப் படிப்புகளையும் முடித்திருக்கிறார். அத்துடன் 18 இசைக் கருவிகளையும் இசைக்கத் தெரிந்திருக்கிறார். இத்தனையும் கற்ற இவர், அரசுப் போக்குவரத்துக் கழகத்தின் நடத்துநர்!’ வாசகர் ஒருவர் ‘தி இந்து - இங்கே.. இவர்கள்..இப்படி!’ பகுதிக்கான அலைபேசி (044 42890013) எண்ணில் இப்படியொரு தவலை பதிவு செய்திருந்தார்.

ஆர்வக் கோளாறு

உதகை அருகே கடநாடு கிராமம் பிரகாஷின் சொந்த ஊர். தற்போது உதகையில் வசிக்கும் இவர், அரசு போக்குவரத்துக் கழகத்தின் உதகை கிளை 1-ல் நடத்துநராக பணியாற்றுகிறார். இவரது வீட்டுக்குள் நுழைந்ததுமே ஏதோ ஒலிப்பதிவு கூடத்துக்குள் நுழைந்துவிட்ட பிரம்மை ஏற்படுகிறது. வீட்டின் ஒரு பக்கத்தை இசைக் கருவிகள், ஒலிவாங்கி மற்றும் ஒலிபரப்பு கருவிகள் ஆக்கிரமித்திருக்க.. இன்னொரு பக்கம், பழுதுநீக்க வந்திருந்த தொலைக்காட்சிப் பெட்டி உள்ளிட்ட மின்னணு சாதனங்கள் குவிந்து கிடக்கின்றன.

இதையெல்லாம் பார்த்து பிரம்மித்து நின்ற நம்மை சிரித்துக் கொண்டே வரவேற்ற பிரகாஷ், “ரொம்பப் பயந்துடாதீங்க. நடத்துநர் பணியும் எலெக்ட்ரானிக் சாதனங்களை ரிப்பேர் பண்றதும் தான் நம்ம தொழில். இசையும், கூடுதலா படிச்ச படிப்புகளும் ஆர்வக் கோளாறு!” என்றார்.

தபேலா, மிருதங்கம், டிரம்ஸ், புல்லாங்குழல், செனாய், கிளாரிநெட், டிரம்பெட், வயலின், கீ போர்ட்டு, புல்புல்தாரா, என 18 வகையான இசைக் கருவிகளை அநாயசமாக வாசித்து வியக்க வைக்கிறார் பிரகாஷ். 2010-ல், தமிழக அரசு கலைச்சுடர்மணி விருது வழங்கி இவரை கவுரவித்திருக்கிறது. இவரது தந்தை கிருஷ்ணன் தலைமை ஆசிரியராக இருந்தவர். வாசிப்புப் பிரியரான தந்தையார் தந்த ஊக்கமும் ஆக்கமுமே படிப்பின் மீதான தனது ஆர்வத்தை அதிகப்படுத்தியது என்று சொல்லும் பிரகாஷ், இளங்கலையில் இரண்டு, முதுகலையில் மூன்று என மொத்தம் ஐந்து பட்டங்களை பெற்றிருக்கிறார். அத்துடன், இசை, ஓவியம், கணினி, ஹார்டுவேர், நகை வடிவமைப்பு, வேளாண்மை உள்ளிட்ட 16 துறைசார்ந்த படிப்புகளில் அரசு அங்கீகாரம் பெற்ற பட்டயங்களையும் பெற்றிருக்கிறார்.

ஓய்வு நேரத்தில் இசை மற்றும் ஓவியப் பயிற்சி வகுப்புகளையும் நடத்தும் பிரகாஷிடம், “இவ்வளவும் படித்துவிட்டு எதற்காக நடத்துநர் பணியைத் தேர்வு செய்தீர்கள்?” என்று கேட்டதற்கு, “படிப்புக்கு வயதும் இல்லை; எல்லையும் இல்லை. படிக்க ஆர்வம் இருந்ததால் தொடர்ந்து படித்தேன். முடிந்தவரை எல்லாத் துறைகளையும் பற்றி தெரிந்துகொள்ள வேண்டும் என நினைத்தேன். அதுதான் நான் படித்துப்பெற்ற பட்டயங்கள். நேர்முகத் தேர்வுக்கான கடிதங்கள் தாமதமாகக் கிடைத்ததால் அரசுப் பணிக்கான வாய்ப்புகள் சிலவற்றை தவறவிட்டேன். கடைசியில், நமக்கு அமைந்தது நடத்துநர் பணிதான். இதையும் ஆத்ம திருப்தியுடன் செய்கிறேன்” என்றார் பிரகாஷ்.

NEET 2018 results will be announced on January 31

NEET 2018: National Board of Examinations (NBE) will conduct NEET 2018 on January 7. In a notification released on the official website – nbe.edu.in, the board has announced that the registration process will begin on October 31. The last date to submit the applications is by November 27, 2017.

NEET (National Eligibility Entrance Test) is the single eligibility cum entrance examination for admission to postgraduate medical courses (MD/ MS and PG Diploma courses).

Eligibility criteria:

Education: Only those candidates can apply who have an MBBS degree or provisional MBBS pass certificate from a recognised college. He/ She should possess permanent or provisional registration certificate of MBBS qualification issued by the Medical Council of India or State Medical Council.

Candidate should also have completed one year of internship or are expected to complete the internship on or before March 31, 2018.

Registration fees: For general category and OBC, it is Rs 3,750 while for SC/ST/ PWD/ PH, it is Rs 2,750.

The Computer Based Test (CBT) will comprise of 300 multiple choice questions from the MBBS curriculum followed at medical colleges in India. The syllabus for the exam shall comprise of subjects/knowledge areas as per the Graduate Medical Education Regulations issued by Medical Council of India with prior approval of Government of India

Flood scare messages back on social media

Chennai: As the North East monsoon has set it, social media is flooded with all kinds of information you need to get through the day – the favourable routes to take and giving out latest weather reports. Some frequently asked questions are – Which parts of the city are water-logged, which route is traffic congested? How long will the rains last for? These dedicated Facebook pages, news outlets and Twitter hash tags are doing great service by helping people in need.

But unfortunately, the same social media is also used to spread unverified and wrong news.

This morning (Tuesday) many woke up to WhatsApp messages saying that Sathyam Cinemas in Royapettah was being opened for people to come and stay and food packets will be available for those in need along with a list of help line numbers of volunteers.

The incessant rains which began on Sunday evening does bring back memories of the 2015 floods, it was social media which helped several people from flooded buildings and homes. Rescue missions were carried by simply posting a message, raise an alert and circulated emergency numbers.

However, this time around all the messages being circulated in 2015 are doing the rounds now.

On WhatsApp, several texts messages surprised users, ‘I got text message on a group saying that people living in inundated areas can reach a list of numbers for rescue and 5000 food packets and bed sheets were ready to be distributed along with phone numbers for it.

I was surprised and I thought things were really bad out there. Then the text message appeared very familiar and I found it was a message from the 2015 floods and pointed out in the group asking people to stop spreading such news,’ says Arvind, a resident of Pallavaram.

Anand Vaidyanathan, who runs the Facebook page TN Flood Support, now called as The New face of society was one of the active pages channelising information and relief material during the 2015 deluge.

He says, “Since the rains began, any negative news brings in hysteria. So on our page we share only weather and traffic updates. If we put out any kind of information which affects people, they will pack their bags and leave the city in fear, so we are very wary of it”, he said.

A long text message doing the rounds said, “Indian Navy- 10 of their expert divers and rescue personnel with boats at Gandhi Nagar (along with a contact number),  food packets are ready for distribution. SRM University is accommodating people in their buildings, whoever stranded in GST please go there. Sathyam Cinemas (Royapettah) will be open for everyone tonight for stay, do get in touch. Similar texts conveyed a number of phone numbers of people willing to help and another text with these information ended with the statement, “If you don’t share this, you are not a true Tamilan.”

When News Today dialed the numbers, the users either disconnected the call at the first ring or never picked the calls.

Fatima students helpless, threatened to commit suicide

The 2015-16 batch MBBS students of Fathima Institute of Medical Sciences (FIMS), Kadapa, have urged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to intervene and address their “life and death” problem, Even as the students of Fathima Institute of Medical Sciences (FIMS) in Kadapa threatened to commit mass suicide if the State government does not help them in getting admission to any other medical colleges with retrospective.

On Tuesday, Fathima students along with their parents organized a two day hunger strike at Dharna Chowk

As many as 100 students got admissions in FIMS in the 2015-16 batch. As there was no approval from Medical Council of India (MCI) for the seats in that academic year, the Supreme Court cancelled their admissions 10 months after the commencement of academic year.
