Natham Viswanathan has been accused of cheating a businessman of Rs. 2.97 cr.

The Judicial Magistrate Court II here on Tuesday reserved the verdict in a case registered against former Minister for Power Natham R. Viswanathan by Dindigul police for allegedly cheating a businessman to the tune of Rs. 2.97 crore.

After hearing arguments of the petitioner’s counsel R. Sivakumar and defence counsel M. Kannappan, Judicial Magistrate M. Balamurugan posted the case to November 7 for pronouncement of verdict.

The defence counsel, in his final argument, said Dindigul police had already closed the case citing ‘mistake of facts’ as reason. Only the police had the right to reopen it, and the complainant did not have the locus standi to seek its reopening. Moreover, no documentary evidence was produced on financial transactions, he said.

Mr. Viswanathan had appeared before the court in March 26, as directed by the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court, and produced the copy of the anticipatory bail he had obtained in this connection. As per direction of the JM court, he had also produced two persons for surety.

Later, the court had asked him to sign at Dindigul North police station every Monday until further orders.

The High Court Bench had on March 16 granted anticipatory bail to Mr. Viswanathan on condition that he should appear before the investigating officer once a week until further orders.

The complainant, A. Sabapathy, a Dindigul-based businessman, claimed that he used to give money to people from different walks of life on the instruction of the former Minister, and get it reimbursed later ever since he got acquainted with Mr. Viswanathan. He reportedly gave the money to various persons during the last Lok Sabha elections. But the former Minister did not repay the money, he said.

Passenger dies on plane

A passenger on a Chennai-bound Indigo flight from Kolkata on Tuesday died just before the plane landed at the Chennai airport.

The passenger, identified as Ganesh Veerabahu, 65, a resident of Chennai, is believed to have suffered breathlessness mid-air. His wife Jaya, who accompanied him, alerted airline crew.

“The crew provided first aid and a medical emergency was declared on board,” said a source at the airport.

On landing, a medical team declared him dead.

It provides routine medi-claim cover and lump sums

Star Health and Allied Insurance on Tuesday launched a health insurance policy for persons diagnosed with cancer, which will work as a routine medi-claim cover, as well as provide a lump sum payment upon diagnosis of recurrence, metastasis or second malignancy. The policy covers anyone between the age of 5 months and 65 years, who have already had stage I and II of the disease, and has two options — for Rs. 3 lakh and Rs. 5 lakh.

Speaking at the launch event, chairman and managing director of Star Health V. Jagannathan said that no one has brought out such a policy in India so far. Chief operating officer S. Prakash said there were many challenges in bringing out this policy as it was exploring the unknown, and because the country has no standardisation of care. He explained that no medical check-up was required and that customers could submit their medical records with details of treatment to avail of the policy.

‘Innovative initiative’

V. Shanta, chairperson, Cancer Institute, Adyar, said this was an important and innovative initiative. Speaking about the growing burden of cancer in the country, she said the incidence was increasing by 1% annually. However, she said we have come into the era of curability, and 50-60% of cancers were within the scope of curability and preventability. She spoke of precision and personalised medicine and the importance given to quality of life, and highlighted the challenge of accessibility and affordability. .

The insurance premium will be based on age band and will be between Rs. 17,000 and Rs. 30,000.

As this a testing of the waters, the policy may be increased to Rs. 10 and Rs. 15 lakh in the future and the premium may be brought down, the company said.

Council moots rotation of HoDs in universities

Academics are of the view that it will help to bring youngsters to the top post

In at least two of the monthly review meetings with senior officials of universities conducted by the Tamil Nadu State Council for Higher Education (TANSCHE), the idea of rotating heads of departments has been on the agenda.

According to sources, the idea was introduced by Higher Education Secretary Sunil Paliwal, the council’s head.

Conventionally, State universities appoint senior professors as heads of departments who hold the position till they retire.

However, Centrally-funded institutions have evolved their mechanisms offering all eligible professors a chance to head their department.

In the Indian Institutes of Technology, professors are elected as head and their performance is evaluated not just by teachers but by students as well.

The idea of giving headship in rotation was first suggested at the University of Madras by S. Ramachandran when he was the Vice Chancellor. But it was struck down by professors who pointed out that the University Statutes had no provision for it.

According to the Statutes, the head professor gets admitted to decision making bodies such as the Academic Council and the Senate. This membership also provides the opportunity to be elected to the Syndicate, the university’s policy making body.

A former department head of the university said, “There are associated issues. Can headship be given to assistant professors, associate professors or only professors?” Prof. Ramachandran believes giving headship to youngsters would develop the departments.

‘Decentralise powers’

“The idea was to bring young blood by restructuring the administration. HoDs are vested with so much power. Some powers must be decentralised. It is a healthy move to keep changing the heads as youngsters will also get opportunities to introduce something new,” he says.

“When you allow the HoDs to continue for years, the departments tend to stagnate. In international universities, views of students and faculty are taken while appointing heads. If you do well you can continue [as head],” Prof. Ramachandran says.

Gopal G. Malaviya, who headed the Department of Defence Studies for a decade at the university, agrees with him.

“In University of Madras, some professors have held the headship for decades. If the university does not fill vacancies then the reader automatically becomes the head. By virtue of being the head, the professor also gets appointed to various committees. The HoD has a lot of authority and some of them run an empire,” he said.

According to S. Krishnaswamy, former head of Biotechnology Department of Madurai Kamaraj University, if the government passes an order, State universities would have to abide.

“The TANSCHE is only a recommendatory body. It is up to the government to take up the recommendation. Rotation within the department will make the functioning more democratic,” he said.

Sewer deaths: SC hasn’t awarded interest to victims’ kin, says HC

Chennai: When there is no reference of payment of interest in the Supreme Court order awarding Rs 10 lakh compensation each to families of deceased manual scavenvers, can the high court order payment of interest, asked the first bench of Madras high court on Monday.

The first bench of Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice M Sundar, responding to PIL petitioner A Narayanan of ChangeIndia that Tamil Nadu government must be asked to pay interest from the date of death of the manual scavengers concerned, pointed out that the Supreme Court had in 2015 directed payment of Rs 10 lakh as compensation to families of the victims. The apex court's order did not provide for payment of interest, the bench said, adding that how could the HC order payment of interest from a date prior to the apex court order itself.

It would be appropriate if interest is paid from the date of the order till the actual date of final disbursement of compensation, the court added.

Earlier, Narayanan said that even a year after the court raised a query as to whether funds from Swachh Bharat Abhiyan could be used to rehabilitate families of deceased manual scavengers, the government was yet to come out with any response.

Narayanan filed the PIL for abolition and rehabilitation of people engaged in manual scavenging, and adequate compensation for families of deceased manual scavengers. When the government has sanitation as a primary agenda, why cannot it use the Swachh funds to rehabilitate scavengers' families, he asked. He pointed out that the Union government was yet to file a report on utilisation of Swachh Bharat funds for rehabilitating families of deceased manual scavengers, as directed by the high court on October 7, 2016.

As for the Tamil Nadu government's attitude towards the issue, Narayanan said the state had gone on appeal and then filed a review petition against the court's order asking them to pay compensation to victims. All those attempts failed, he said. "Now the state government is refusing interest on the compensation, which was to be paid years after the death of manual scavengers," he said to the first bench of Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice M Sundar.

Chief Justice Banerjee also censured her administrative staff for having failed to bring to her notice complaint on an incident of manual scavenging in Chennai. She also directed the government to submit facts based on the report immediately and take appropriate action.

Southern Railway asks its employees not to travel in first class, AC coaches without valid tickets

CHENNAI: In the wake of complaints from passengers, the Southern Railway has issued an order asking its employees not to travel in first class suburban train coaches and in AC coaches of passenger and express trains without valid tickets.

In an order dated October 21, the senior divisional commercial manager of the Chennai Railway Division stated that priority of space should be given to passengers.

The issue had been raised at divisional rail users consultative committee meet a month ago. A member from Vellore had complained that railway union members were occupying AC coaches on the morning trains illegally and were also found smoking inside the compartments. No action had been taken against them and it caused inconvenience to passengers, the member had complained.

Perarivalan returns to prison after putting on weight during his 60-day stay at home

VELLORE: A G Perarivalan, a life convict in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, returned to the Vellore Central Prison for Men on Tuesday after spending 60 days at his home in Jolarpet.

A team of police personnel escorted Perarivalan from his house to the central prison. He was lodged in the high-risk prisoners' cell around 5pm after completing formalities.

"He is looking brisk. He has put on weight. He is very happy that he could spend so many days with his family," said a senior officer in the prison.

The Tamil Nadu government had granted 30 days ordinary leave to Perarivalan from August 24 on compassionate grounds, citing the health condition his father and pleas of his mother Arputham.

During the first spell of his ordinary leave, hundreds of friends, relatives, neighbours and politicians visited him on a daily basis since there was no restriction on meeting anyone. VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan had called on Perarivalan and gifted him a guitar.

The government extended the ordinary leave by 30 days from September 24 following a petition from Arputham. However, the government laid down rules, restricting him from meeting anyone except his family members.

Arputham had appealed for the second time to the chief minister to extend the ordinary leave granted to him by another 30 days to help the family members regain their health. She registered posted the petition on October 17. However, the government did not respond. Hence, he returned to the prison as per the condition laid down before granting the parole.

Many cops are travelling in trains without valid tickets, Southern Railway tells TN police

CHENNAI: Southern Railwayhas written a letter to the Tamil Nadu police stating that a large number of police personnel on and off duty are travelling in first class and second class coaches of passenger trains and suburban trains without valid tickets.

Senior divisional commercial manager of Chennai Railway Division has written the letter addressed to the Tamil Nadu director general of police, Chennai city police commissioner and additional director general of police (Railways).

"A number of passenger complaints has been received in this regard. The police personnel are occupying the seats meant for bona fide passengers. When asked to produce ticket by the staff, they show their ID cards and continue the journey. Kindly instruct police personnel to possess a valid ticket when they undertake a journey," the letter stated.

Madras HC bans use of living persons’ pictures on banners, hoardings in TN

CHENNAI: In a blanket order, the Madras high court on Tuesday banned use of pictures of living persons on banners and hoardings, even if due permission is obtained for erecting them.

"In order to maintain a clean atmosphere in the state and to avoid unnecessary drawings on the walls of buildings/residential places, this court directs the chief secretary to ensure that the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act, 1959 is complied with. If at all any permission is given by the authority concerned for erecting banners, flex boards and signboards, they shall ensure that the photographs/pictures of such persons who are alive shall not be depicted on them. It is further directed to ensure that the photographs/pictures of the persons, who are sponsoring such banners, shall also not be depicted," Justice S Vidyanathan said in his order.

The judge passed the order on a plea moved by B Thirulochana Kumari, a resident of Rani Anna Nagar, seeking a direction to the Chennai Corporation and the city commissioner of police to take appropriate steps to remove political party banners and flags put up by one Mathi blocking passage to her property.

When the plea came up for hearing, corporation authorities submitted that such banners and flags erected in front of petitioner's property had been removed and that the police would ensure that no such incident takes place in future.

Recording the submission, the judge directed the authorities to take appropriate action if the incident is repeated in future and closed the plea.

51 expresses to be faster from Nov 1

Chennai: Your train journey to places like Madurai among others has just got faster. A total of 51 express and 36 passenger trains running in Southern Railway's jurisdiction will be speeded up from November 1 when the new timetable comes into effect.

These include 30 express trains within Southern Railway that has administrative control over Tamil Nadu and Kerala and 21 expresses that are inter-railway. A copy of the timetable was leaked on instant messaging platforms and senior railway officials confirmed it was the final copy.

There will be a 75-minute reduction for Puduchery-Mangalore Weekly Express, while the Chennai Egmore-Mangalore will be faster by 60 minutes.

There will be a 50-minute reduction for Rameswaram Express, while the Chennai-Sengottai Silambu Express will arrive at the destination 50 minutes earlier. The Mangalore-Chennai Express will save 40 minutes, while Chennai Egmore-Madurai Pandian Express will be 35 minutes faster (30 minutes in the reverse direction).

Cholan Express will be faster by 20 minutes, while Rockfort Express from Chennai will be faster by 15 minutes. Kanyakumari Express from Kanyakumari will be faster by 20 minutes. As the section beyond Trichy has been doubled, 19 DEMU trains in the division have been speeded up by five minutes to a maximum of 20 minutes. There will be 100-minute reduction in the running time of the Faizabad-Rameswaram Weekly Express, while the bi-weekly Mangalore-Kacheguda Express will be faster by 235 minutes, almost four hours.

Ananthapuri Express will be extended up to Kollam, while Amirtha Express will be extended to Madurai and Chennai-Palani Express to Palakkad via Pollachi.

Three new EMUs on Chennai suburban network starting November 1. A new train will be run from Chengalpet to Thirumalpur, leaving Chengalpet at 5.15am and leaving Thirumalpur at 9pm.

A new MEMU service will run between Chennai Central and Avadi, at 2.05pm from Central and 2.50pm from Avadi, a MEMU on Chennai Beach-Tiruvallur section will start at 4.40pm from Beach and 6.30pm from Tiruvallur.

Chitlapakkam plot meant for post office turns dump yard

Chennai: Administrative negligence from India Post has resulted in one of its undeveloped properties being illegally converted into a landfill in Chitlapakkam.

The land, measuring 2,023.5 sqm, abutting the Chitlapakkam lake, was acquired by India Post from the state government for the purpose of constructing a new post office building. Though the postal department put up a board claiming land ownership and warned against garbage dumping, it did not produce the desired effect.

Without a compound wall to demarcate the property, overflowing waste from the landfill operated by the Chitlapakkam town panchayat nearby has taken over the undeveloped property. The land is also being encroached by rusting two-wheelers, mostly vehicles seized by the Chitlapakkam police. According to local resident P Viswanathan, the demand for a new post office has been active since 1998.

India Post employees told TOI that the Chitlpakkam office ceiling leaks during rains. "Due to water seepage, operating electric switches becomes a risk. Electric shocks are commonplace. At times, the coating on the ceiling peels off and drops," said an employee, requesting anonymity.

Despite availability of land, India Post is actively scouting a rental property to relocate the existing post office. "It makes no sense. The land was transferred to India Post for the purpose of building a new post office," said Lakshminarayanan, a resident.

In an RTI response to Viswanathan's query, India Post said its civil wing has been allotted funds to construct a compound wall. Prem Kumar, assistant superintendent officer, Tambaram division, confirmed that the funds had been allotted but offered no comment when TOI asked for a tentative date for the work starting.

On July 31, G K Ponnurangam, assistant director (mails and establishment) responded to the Viswanathan's petition stating that the proposal (for new post office) would be included in the "13th five year plan". TOI received no response from Ponnurangam's office. Chennai region postmaster general, R Anand, too, refused to comment.

53 super-specialty medical seats remain vacant in TN

Chennai: At least a quarter of the super-specialty medical seats in Tamil Nadu, including cardiothoracic surgery, paediatric surgery and neurosurgery, remain vacant even after the Supreme Court allowed a 10-day extension for the Directorate General of Health Services, New Delhi, to complete counselling. Thirty super-specialty courses at Madras Medical College (MMC) too found no takers. The seats were thrown open to postgraduate doctors across the country.

Admission process for all super-specialty courses in the country was conducted by the DGHS this year. There are 1,011 super-specialty seats in the country. As 553 seats, including 99 in Tamil Nadu, remained vacant until October 11, the Supreme Court allowed DGHS conduct a special mop-up counselling and granted 10 days' time, too. Postgraduate students from across the country were asked to apply for the vacancies and the allotted students were asked to join medical colleges by Saturday.

On Wednesday, the directorate of medical education in Tamil Nadu said 53 seats, including 30 in the Madras Medical College, remained vacant even after the mop-up. "Most of the seats were surgical speciality. About 14 seats from cardiothoracic surgery and eight in paediatric surgery were vacant just in Madras Medical College. There were also vacant seats in neurosurgery, neurology, hepatology and neonatology," said selection committee secretary Dr G Selvarajan.

In June, doctors demanded reservation for super-specialty seats in state-run medical colleges and launched the 'Our State, Our Seat' campaign. "If they had reserved seats for domiciliary candidates, we could have minimised wastage," said Dr P Balakrishnan, Chennai unit president of Tamil Nadu Government Doctors Association. Until last year, after surrendering 50% of the seats, the state was allowed to reserve 50% of the seats for students from its states.

NEW DELHI: Large personal electronic devices (PED) like laptops may soon be disallowed from check-in bags because of fears that their battery fire would go undetected, leading to possible catastrophes. In hand bags, on the other hand, cabin crew are now trained to handle PED fires as soon as anyone notices smoke emitting from the bag they are kept in. Just last week, a mobile phone caught fire on a Delhi-Indore flight which the cabin crew was able to quickly douse.

Once a decision is taken by any leading aviation agency, India is also going to follow suit, said a senior DGCA official. Power banks, portable mobile chargers and e-cigarettes are already banned in check-in baggage in India.

The International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) dangerous goods panel is examining a working paper on "PEDs carried by passengers and crew" to address safety concerns regarding PEDs being stowed in checked baggage. The American Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has submitted its test results in this ICAO paper, which concludes that fire in PED kept in cargo hold "could lead to loss of aircraft".

"FAA fire safety branch conducted 10 tests utilising a fully charged laptop computer inside a suitcase. A heater was placed against a lithium ion cell in the battery of a laptop to force it into thermal runaway.... it was concluded that if a PED is packed in a suitcase with an aerosol can and a thermal runaway event occurs, there is the potential for an aerosol can explosion.... (In some cases) the fire suppression system of the aircraft is then compromised, which could lead to the loss of the aircraft," the paper of ICAO, a UN agency, said. PEDs in passenger cabin are a safer bet as the cabin crew can take immediate action. Most consumer PEDs like cell phones, tablets and laptops are currently allowed in carry-on and checked baggage.

விஜய்யின் முதல் 200 கோடி வசூல் படமாக அமையுமா 'மெர்சல்'?

விஜய் நடிப்பில் வெளியான படங்களில் முதல் 200 கோடி வசூலை கடந்த படமாக 'மெர்சல்' அமையவுள்ளதாக விநியோகஸ்தர்கள் தெரிவித்தார்கள்.

அட்லி இயக்கத்தில் விஜய் நடிப்பில் வெளியாகியிருக்கும் படம் 'மெர்சல்'. இப்படத்தில் இடம்பெற்றுள்ள ஜிஎஸ்டி தொடர்பான வசனங்களுக்குப் பாஜக கட்சித் தலைவர்கள் கடும் ஆட்சேபம் தெரிவித்தார்கள். இதனால் பெரும் சர்ச்சை உருவாகி அடங்கியுள்ளது.


முதல் நாள் வசூலைத் தொடர்ந்து, 2-வது நாளில் கொஞ்சம் வசூல் குறைந்தது. ஆனால், ஜிஎஸ்டி வசனங்கள் தொடர்பான சர்ச்சை உருவானதிலிருந்தே வசூல் கடுமையாக உயர்ந்தது. வசனங்கள் அல்லது காட்சிகள் நீக்கப்பட்டு விடுமோ என்று மக்கள் கூட்டம் அதிகரித்தாக திரையரங்க உரிமையாளர்கள் தெரிவித்தார்கள். இதனால் உலகளவில் 3 நாட்களில் சுமார் 100 கோடி வசூலைக் கடந்தது 'மெர்சல்'.

தமிழகத்தில் முதல் 5 நாட்களில் வசூலில், 'பாகுபலி 2' மற்றும் 'எந்திரன்' ஆகியவற்றுக்கு பின்னால் வந்துள்ளது. அக்டோபர் 18 - 22 வரை தமிழகத்தில் மட்டும் சுமார் 76 கோடி வசூல் செய்திருக்கிறது ‘மெர்சல்’. மேலும், உலகளில் இப்படத்தின் மொத்த வசூல் 150 கோடியை கடந்துவிட்டதாக வியாபார நிபுணர்கள் தெரிவித்திருக்கிறார்கள். ஏற்கெனவே 'துப்பாக்கி' படத்தின் ஒட்டுமொத்த வசூல் 150 கோடியை கடந்திருப்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

இன்னும் கணிசமான அளவு கூட்டமிருந்தால் கண்டிப்பாக உலக அளவில் 200 கோடி வசூல் என்ற சாதனையை 'மெர்சல்' நிகழ்த்தும் என்று கணித்திருக்கிறார்கள். பிரம்மாண்ட தயாரிப்பு என்பதால் அதனையும் தாண்டி வசூலித்தால் மட்டுமே தயாரிப்பாளருக்கு கணிசமான அளவு லாபம் கிடைக்கும் என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

திரைப்பட இயக்குநர் ஐ.வி.சசியின் மறைவுக்கு கவிஞர், திரைப்படப் பாடலாசிரியர் வைரமுத்து புகழஞ்சலி செலுத்தியுள்ளார்.

இது தொடர்பாக இன்று வைரமுத்து வெளியிட்ட இரங்கல் செய்தியில், ''திரைப்பட இயக்குநர் ஐ.வி.சசி மறைவுச் செய்தி என்னை அதிர வைத்தது.புகழ்மிக்க ஒரு தென்னிந்திய இயக்குநரை இந்திய சினிமா இழந்துவிட்டது.

அவருக்கு நான் நன்றிக் கடன்பட்டிருக்கிறேன். பாராதிராஜாவின் நிழல்கள் நான் பாட்டெழுதிய முதல் படம் என்றாலும், திரையில் முதன்முதலில் வெளிவந்தது ரஜினி நடித்து ஐ.வி.சசி இயக்கிய காளி என்ற படமாகும். அந்த வகையில் அவர்மீது எனக்குத் தனிப்பட்ட அன்பு உண்டு.

கலையே வாழ்வு; வாழ்வே கலை என்று வாழ்ந்தவர் மறைந்துவிட்டார். மலையாள மண் இந்திய சினிமாவுக்குத் தந்த கலைக் கருவூலத்தைக் காலம் திருடிவிட்டது. அவர் புகழ் இந்திய சினிமாவில் என்றென்றும் வாழும்.

அவரை இழந்துவாடும் குடும்பத்தார்க்கும் கலை உலகத்தார்க்கும் என் ஆழ்ந்த இரங்கலைத் தெரிவித்துக்கொள்கிறேன்'' என்று வைரமுத்து கூறியுள்ளார்.

ரத்தத்தில் ஹீமோகுளோபின் குறைபாடா? மருந்து மாத்திரை இல்லாமல் சரி செய்வது எப்படி?

ஹீமோகுளோபின் குறைபாடு அதாவது ரத்த சோகை ஏற்பட்டால் உடல் முழுவதும் செயலிழந்ததை போல் இருக்கும். உடலில் உள்ள அனைத்து உறுப்புகளுக்கும் பிராண வாயுவான ஆக்ஸிஜனை கொண்டு சேர்க்கும் ரத்த அணுக்களின் அளவு குறைவதால் சோர்வு ஏற்படும். இதனால் சிறுநீரக பிரச்னை வருவதற்கான வாய்ப்பும் ஏற்படுகிறது. இதில் இருந்து தீர்வு பெற எந்தவொரு மாத்திரை மருந்தும் இல்லாமல் நாம் சாப்பிடும் உணவிலேயே ஹீமோகுளோபின் அளவை அதிகரிக்க முடியும். காய்கறிகளுடன் சேர்த்து சில பழங்களையும் சாப்பிடுவது மேலும் சீரான உடற்பயிற்சி போன்றவையே இதற்கு போதுமானது.

1. கொய்யா:

தினமும் கொய்யாப் பழம் சாப்பிடுவதன் மூலம் ரத்த அணுக்களின் அளவு அதிகரிக்கிறது என்று ஆய்வு முடிவுகள் தெரிவிக்கின்றன. எவ்வளவு கசப்பாக கொய்ய இருக்கிறதோ அதில் அவ்வளவு ஹீமோகுளோபினை அதிகரிக்கும் ஆற்றல் இருக்கிறது என்று அர்த்தம். மிகவும் சத்தான மற்றும் அதிக பயன்களை கொண்ட ஒரு பழம் இது. 

2. மாம்பழம்:

பழ வகைகளில் மிகவும் சுவையானதும், அனைவராலும் விரும்பப்படும் ஒன்றானதாகவும் இருப்பது மாம்பழம். இவ்வளவு இனிப்பான பழத்தால் ரத்த சோகையில் இருந்து விடுபட முடியும் என்றால் எதற்காக கசப்பான மாத்திரைகளை விழுங்க வேண்டும்?

3. ஆப்பிள்:

நாள்தோறும் ஒரு ஆப்பிளை நாம் சாப்பிட்டால் மருத்துவரிடம் செல்வதை தவிர்க்கலாம் என்பது பல காலமாகச் சொல்லப்பட்டு வரும் ஒரு உண்மை. அந்த வகையில் பார்த்தால் தினமும் ஆப்பிள் சாப்பிடுவது ரத்த சோகை மட்டுமில்லாமல் இனி வரவிருக்கும் அனைத்து நோய்களில் இருந்தும் நம்மை பாதுகாக்கக் கூடிய ஒன்றாகும்.

5. பீட்ரூட்:

பீட்ரூட்டில் நிறைந்திருக்கும் கார்போஹைட்ரேட் ரத்தம் வீணாவதைத் தடுக்கிறது. ரத்தத்தில் உள்ள ஹீமோகுளோபின் அளவு அதிகமாவதற்குத் தேவையான சிவப்பு ரத்த அணுக்களை இவையும் உற்பத்தி செய்கிறது. அனீமியா நோயாளிகளுக்கு இது ஒரு சிறந்த மருந்து என்றே சொல்லலாம்.

6. துளசி: 

துளசி ரத்தத்தைத் தூய்மையாக்கி சிவப்பணுக்கள் இறப்பதற்குக் காரணமான நச்சுகளை ரத்தத்தில் இருந்து நீக்குகிறது. தினமும் துளசி சாப்பிடுவதால் நிச்சயம் ஹீமோகுளோபின் அளவு அதிகரிக்கும்.

8. தேங்காய் எண்ணெய்:

உடலில் திசுக்கள், சதைகள் மற்றும் ரத்தம் உற்பத்தியாகத் தேங்காய் எண்ணெய் உதவுகிறது. இதன் மூலம் ஹீமோகுளோபின் அளவு கட்டாயம் அதிகரிக்கும்.

9. முட்டை:

முட்டையில் புரதம், கொழுப்பு, வைட்டமின், இரும்பு, கால்சியம் மற்று தாது ஆகிய அனைத்துச் சத்துக்களும் இருப்பதால் இது உடலும் அதிக நன்மைகளைத் தரக்கூடியது. உடலின் ஹீமோகுளோபின் அளவு மற்றும் இல்லாமல் உடலுக்குத் தேவையான அத்தியாவசிய சில சத்துக்களும் இதனால் அதிகரிக்கக் கூடும்.

காய்ச்சல் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட சிறுமிக்கு ஆறுதல் கூறிய தமிழக சுகாதாரத் துறைச் செயலாளர் ராதாகிருஷ்ணன். 

செங்கல்பட்டு அரசு மருத்துவக் கல்லூரி மருத்துவமனையில் தமிழக சுகாதாரத் துறை செயலாளர் ராதாகிருஷ்ணன் செவ்வாய்க்கிழமை ஆய்வு மேற்கொண்டார்.
தமிழகம் முழுவதும் டெங்கு காய்ச்சலால் ஏராளமானோர் பாதிக்கப்பட்டு மருத்துவமனைகளில் சிகிச்சை பெற்று வருகின்றனர். இதையடுத்து டெங்கு தடுப்பு நடவடிக்கைகள் முடுக்கி விடப்பட்டுள்ளது. டெங்கு கொசுக்களைக் கட்டுப்படுத்த மருத்துவமனைகள், சுகாதார நிலையங்கள், பள்ளிகள், தனியார் நிறுவனங்களில் விழிப்புணர்வு நடவடிக்கைகள் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டுள்ளன. 
இந்நிலையில் செங்கல்பட்டு அரசு மருத்துவக் கல்லூரி மருத்துவமனைக்கு தமிழக சுகாதாரத் துறைச் செயலாளர் ராதாகிருஷ்ணன் செவ்வாய்க்கிழமை திடீரென ஆய்வு செய்தார். காய்ச்சலால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டு மருத்துவமனையில் சிகிச்சை பெற்று வருபவர்களை நேரில் சந்தித்து ஆறுதல் கூறிய அவர், அங்கு அளிக்கப்படும் சிகிச்சை முறைகள், மருந்துகள் குறித்து மருத்துவர்களிடம் கேட்டறிந்தார். அப்போது மருத்துவமனை முதல்வர் உஷா சதாசிவம், மருத்துவக் கண்காணிப்பாளர் பூபதி, நிலைய மருத்துவ அலுவலர் வள்ளியரசி, உதவி நிலைய மருத்துவ அலுவலர் தீனதயாளன் உள்ளிட்ட மருத்துவர்கள் உடனிருந்தனர்.

சிலருக்கு படுத்த உடன் தூக்கம் வந்துவிடும். அவர்கள் உண்மையில் வரம் பெற்றவர்கள் தான். இரவில் 7 லிருந்து 8 மணி நேரம் தூங்கினால்தான் உடல் ஆரோக்கியமாக இருக்கும். உடல் நலக் கோளாறுகளுக்கு தூக்கமின்மை ஒரு முக்கிய காரணம் என்கிறார்கள் மருத்துவர்கள். 

விழித்திருக்கும் போது நம்முடைய புலன்களும் விழிப்படைந்த நிலையில் இருக்கும். தூங்கினால் தான் நம் உடல் உறுப்புக்களுக்கும், புலன் உணர்வுக்கும் சிறிது ஓய்வு கிடைக்கும். தூக்கமின்மையால் அவதிப்படும் பலருக்கு நாளாக ஆக சோர்வும் மன அழுத்தமும் ஏற்பட்டு பாதிப்புக்குள்ளாவார்கள்.
