தமிழ்நாடு மருத்துவ கவுன்சில் தலைவரை பதவி நீக்கம் செய்து நிறைவேற்றப்பட்ட தீர்மானத்தை ரத்து செய்து சென்னை உயர்நீதிமன்றம் உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளது.

சென்னை உயர்நீதிமன்றத்தில் டாக்டர் செந்தில் தாக்கல் செய்துள்ள மனுவில், தனது தேதியிடப்படாத ராஜினாமா கடிதத்தின் மூலம், துணைத் தலைவராக இருந்து வரும் ஜெயலாலை, தலைவர் பொறுப்பை கவனிக்கச் செய்யும் வகையில் மருத்துவ கவுன்சில் செயற்குழு தீர்மானம் நிறைவேற்றியுள்ளதாக குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார். தேதியிடப்படாத தனது கடிதத்தின் மூலம் தன்னிச்சையாக செயற்குழு இந்த தீர்மானத்தை நிறேவேற்றியுள்ளதாகவும், அதனால், இதனை ரத்து செய்ய உத்தரவிட வேண்டும் என்றும் அவர் மனுவில் கூறியிருந்தார்.
இந்த மனுவை விசாரித்த நீதிமன்றம், செயற்குழு கூட்டம் கூட்டப்பட்டதற்கு எந்த ஆதாரங்களும் இல்லை எனக் கூறி, டாக்டர் செந்திலின் பதவியை பறித்து நிறைவேற்றப்பட்ட தீர்மானத்தை அதிரடியாக ரத்து செய்து உத்தரவிட்டது.

Caste a decisive factor in the selection of vice-chancellor?

CHENNAI: From casteism to favouritism, the search committee formed a year ago to shortlist potential candidates as the next vice chancellor of the University of Madras seems to have a long list of out-of-syllabus issues to deal with before getting down to work.

As they dabble with these concerns, rarely meeting since it was constituted on January 8, 2015, the actual matters of importance including hundreds of PhD candidates awaiting degrees, new colleges waiting for affiliation, approval of as many as 75 new courses, and promotion for teaching faculty are hanging in balance, said sources.

Highly-placed sources told Express that all three committee members have backed candidates from their own community, which resulted in a logjam. “The convener of search committee recently wrote to the Governor, who is the Chancellor of the university, recommending the name of a senior academician without convening a meeting to get the consent of other members,” sources alleged.

The academician in question is believed to be backed by a senior IAS official, who was influential during the DMK regime between 2006 and 11, sources added.

Sources from the university syndicate said though the Chancellor has instructed to complete the process and come up with three names before the second week of January, the committee has never met since March.

However, rejecting these as baseless allegations, a committee member told Express that there was no difference of opinion between the members.

The other all-important committee, the convener committee, which is vested with the same powers as the vice chancellor, is also in shambles. Formed after the then vice chancellor retired on January 2, 2015, the convener committee has also not performed effectively.

“Affiliation of three new colleges and approval for 75 new courses in various government-aided and self-financing colleges for evening shift has been put on hold,” the syndicate member said, adding that the convener committee has not even constituted an affiliation committee towards this purpose.

Responding to this, a university official said that this panel can’t disburse funds in advance, consequently most development activities were moving at a snail’s phase.

Bhogi smog: Arrival of flights in Chennai airport hit for 90 minutes

CHENNAI: A total of nine international and domestic flights were diverted to airports in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kochi due to poor visibility in the city following smog triggered by burning of Bhogi bonfires.

The poor visibility due to Bhogi was felt for more than 90 minutes and the first diversion started with Oman Air’s Muscat-Chennai flight, which was diverted to Hyderabad at 6.20 AM.

The Air India’s flight from Sharjah-Trivandrum-Chennai too was diverted to Bangalore. It was to arrive here at 7.10 AM.

The Spicejet flight from Hyderabad-Chennai was diverted to Bangalore. The flight from Kualu Lumpur to Chennai was diverted to Hyderabad. It was to arrive at 7.57 AM.

Similarly, flights from Abu Dhabi were diverted to Hyderabad. Flights from Colombo were also diverted, airport sources said.

போதிய மழையின்மை, வறட்சி, விவசாயிகளின் மரணங்கள் மற்றும் ஜல்லிக்கட்டுக்குத் தடை போன்ற காரணங்கள், பொங்கல் பண்டிகையை தித்திக்க விடாமல் செய்து விட்டன.

எப்போதும் போல பொங்கல் பண்டிகைக்கு சொந்த ஊர்களுக்குச் செல்வோர் பேருந்துகளிலும், ரயில்களிலும் இடம் பிடித்தாலும், ஏதோ ஒரு குறை, அவர்களது மனங்களில் உற்சாகம் இடம் பிடிக்காமல்செய்து விட்டது.

ஊருக்கே படியளக்கும் விவசாயிகள் நாளைய பொங்கலை எவ்வாறு கொண்டாடுவது என்று கலங்கி உள்ளனர். வறட்சி கோரத் தாண்டவமாடும் விவசாயிகள், பொங்கல் கொண்டாடும் சூழலே இந்த ஆண்டு இல்லை என்று மனம் வெதும்பியுள்ளனர்.

நகரப் பகுதிகளில் ஒரு சில ஆண்டுகளாகவே, பொங்கல் பண்டிகை அதற்குண்டான களையை இழந்து, தொலைக்காட்சி முன்பு தொலைந்து கொண்டே போகிறது. அதையும் தாண்டி, போதிய மழையும் இல்லாமல் வறட்சி காரணமாக இந்த ஆண்டு பொங்கல் பண்டிகை களை கட்டவில்லை என்றே தோன்றுகிறது.

கடந்த ஆண்டுகளில் இருந்ததை விடவும், இந்த ஆண்டு கரும்பு விற்பனை சரிந்திருப்பதாகவே வியாபாரிகள் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர். போகிப் பண்டிகை வரை மிகக் குறைவான கரும்புகளே விற்பனையாகியிருப்பதாக மொத்த வியாபாரிகள் கூறியுள்ளனர்.

500 மற்றும் 1000 ரூபாய் நோட்டுகள் செல்லாது என்று அறிவிக்கப்பட்டதால், மக்கள் கையில் பண நடமாட்டம் குறைந்ததும், இந்த பொங்கல் பண்டிகை களைகட்டாமல் போகக் காரணமாக இருக்குமோ என்ற சந்தேகமும் எழுகிறது.

சிலம்பு விரைவு ரயில் சேவை: செங்கோட்டை வரை நீட்டிப்பு

சென்னை எழும்பூர் -மானாமதுரை வரை இயக்கப்பட்டு வந்த சிலம்பு விரைவு ரயில் சேவை ஜனவரி 14 -ஆம் தேதி முதல் செங்கோட்டை வரை நீட்டிக்கப்படும் என தெற்கு ரயில்வே அறிவித்துள்ளது. இதுகுறித்து வியாழக்கிழமை வெளியிடப்பட்ட செய்திக்குறிப்பு:

ரயில் எண் 16181: சென்னை எழும்பூரில் இருந்து இரவு 8.20 மணிக்குப் புறப்படும் சிலம்பு விரைவு ரயில், ஜனவரி 14 -ஆம் தேதி முதல் மானாமதுரைக்கு காலை 5.30 மணிக்கு சென்றடையும்.

மானாமதுரையில் இருந்து 5.40 மணிக்குப் புறப்படும் இந்த ரயில் நரிக்குடி, திருச்சுழி, அருப்புக்கோட்டை, விருதுநகர், திருத்தங்கல், சிவகாசி, ஸ்ரீவில்லிப்புத்தூர், ராஜபாளையம், சங்கரன்கோவில், பம்புக்கோயில் கடையநல்லூர், தென்காசி வழியாக செங்கோட்டைக்கு காலை 10.20 மணிக்கு சென்றடையும்.

இதேபோல் மறுமார்க்கத்தில் (ரயில் எண் 16182) அதாவது செங்கோட்டையில் இருந்து மாலை 4 மணிக்கு புறப்பட்டு மறுநாள் காலை 5.45 மணிக்கு சென்னை எழும்பூர் வந்தடையும்.

ஏ.டி.எம். மிஷினில் ஒரு பக்கம் அச்சாகாமல் வந்த 500 ரூபாய் நோட்டு

மத்திய பிரதேச மாநிலத்தில் ஏடிஎம் மிஷினில் பணம் எடுத்த ஒருவருக்கு இரண்டு 500 ரூபாய் நோட்டுகளில் ஒரு பக்கம் அச்சாகாமல் வெற்றுத்தாளாக வந்துள்ளது.

மத்திய பிரதேசம் கார்கோன் மாவட்டம் செகோன் கிராமத்தை சேர்ந்த ஹேமந்த் சோனி என்பவர் கடந்த வாரம் பொதுத்துறை வங்கியொன்றின் ஏடிஎம் மையத்திலிருந்து 1500 ரூபாய் பணம் எடுத்தார்.

இதில் இரண்டு 500 ரூபாய் நோட்டுகளில் ஒரு பக்கம் அச்சாகாமல் வெற்றுத்தாளாக வந்துள்ளது. இதனால் அதிர்ச்சி அடைந்த ஹேமந்த் இதுகுறித்து சம்பந்தப்பட்ட வங்கியிடம் புகார் கொடுத்தார்.

இதற்கு அந்த வங்கி அதிகாரிகள் இந்த நோட்டுகளை ரிசர்வ் வங்கியிடம் இருந்து பெற்றதாக விளக்கம் அளித்தனர்.

மேலும் "வாடிக்கையாளரின் புகாரைத் தொடர்ந்து அந்த நோட்டுகளை மாற்றிவிட்டோம். தற்போது ரூபாய் நோட்டுகளை நன்கு சோதனை செய்த பின்னரே ஏடிஎம்-களில் நிரப்புகிறோம்" என்று தெரிவித்துள்ளனர்.
