Heavy rain lashes Salem and Dharmapuri districts

Heavy rain lashed various parts of Salem and Dharmapuri districts on Saturday. In the 24 hours that ended at 6 a.m. on Sunday, 759 mm of rainfall was registered in Salem district and 338 mm in Dharmapuri district.
Heavy rain that started around 7.30 p.m. in Salem on Saturday led to stagnation of water on roads in areas such as New Bus Stand, Hasthampatti, Shevapet, Pachapatti, Alagapuram, Kitchipalayam, and Kalarampatti. Around 10 houses in the low-lying areas of Kitchipalayam and Kalarampatti were inundated. Similarly, rural areas such as Sankagiri, Edappadi, and Yethapur received heavy rain.
Salem district received an average rainfall was 47.44 mm. Sankagiri received the highest amount of 73 mm, followed by 72.2 mm in Salem, 71.2 mm in Edappadi, 65 mm in Yethapur, 64 mm in Aanaimaduvu, 55.4 mm in Mettur, 45.4 mm in Vazhapadi, 45 mm each at Omalur and Thammampatti, 43 mm in Nathakarai, 40.6 mm in Yercaud, 35 mm in Kariyakovil, 31 mm in Veeraganur, 27 mm in Danishpet, 26.2 mm in Attur, and 20 mm in Gangavalli.
Dharmapuri district received an average rainfall of 37.56 mm. Hogenakkal received the highest amount of 122.6 mm rainfall, followed by 58 mm in Pennagaram, 54.4 mm in Pappireddipatti, 28 mm in Palacode, 26 mm in Marandahalli, 25 mm in Dharmapuri, 16 mm in Harur and 4 mm each at Morappur and Nallampalli.
In the 24 hours that ended at 6 a.m. on Sunday, Krishnagiri district received 291.50 mm of rainfall, including 50.20 mm in Krishnagiri, 45.20 mm in KRP Dam, 25 mm in Denkanikottai, 20 mm each at Pochampalli and Rayakottai, 15.80 mm in Barur, 15 mm each at Thally and Kelavarapalli Dam, 14.20 mm in Nedungal, 14 mm in Hosur, 13.20 mm in Uthangarai, 10.80 mm in Anchetty, 10 mm in Chinnar Dam, and 8 mm in Shoolagiri.
