சென்னை: சி.பி.எஸ்.இ., பாடத்திட்டத்தில், 10 மற்றும் பிளஸ் 2 வகுப்புகளுக்கு, இன்று பொதுத் தேர்வு துவங்குகிறது. இதில், 27 லட்சம் மாணவ - மாணவியர் பங்கேற்கின்றனர்.மத்திய இடைநிலை கல்வி வாரியமான, சி.பி.எஸ்.இ., பாடத்திட்டத்தில், 10 மற்றும் பிளஸ் 2வுக்கு, இன்று பொதுத் தேர்வு துவங்குகிறது. பத்தாம் வகுப்புக்கு, ஏப்., 4 வரையிலும்; பிளஸ் 2வுக்கு, ஏப்., 13 வரையிலும் தேர்வுகள் நடக்கின்றன. இத்தேர்வுகளில், நாடு முழுவதும், 11 ஆயிரத்து, 574 பள்ளிகளைச் சேர்ந்த, 27 லட்சம் மாணவ - மாணவியர் பங்கேற்கின்றனர். 10ம் வகுப்புக்கு, 1,564; பிளஸ் 2வுக்கு, 1,252 தேர்வு மையங்கள் அமைக்கப்பட்டு உள்ளன. பத்தாம் வகுப்பில், 6.71 லட்சம் மாணவியர் உட்பட, 16.38 லட்சம் பேர் பங்கேற்கின்றனர். இதில், ஐந்து மாநிலங்கள் அடங்கிய, சென்னை மண்டலத்தில், 1.94 லட்சம் மாணவர்கள் தேர்வு எழுதுகின்றனர். பிளஸ் 2 தேர்வில், 4.95 லட்சம் மாணவியர் உட்பட, 11.86 லட்சம் பேர் பங்கேற்கின்றனர். சென்னை மண்டலத்தில், 71 ஆயிரம் பேர் பங்கேற்கின்றனர். வளைகுடா நாடுகளில் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள தேர்வு மையங்களில், 15 ஆயிரத்து, 700 பேர், சி.பி.எஸ்.இ., பொதுத் தேர்வு எழுத உள்ளனர்.

கிருஷ்ணகிரி மாவட்டத்தில் பிளஸ்1, பிளஸ் 2 தேர்வு கண்காணிப்புப் பணியில் ஈடுபடுவதற்கு 4 மாதம் முன்னர் இறந்து போன ஆசிரியையை நியமனம் செய்த தகவல் வெளியாகியுள்ளது. சம்பந்தப்பட்டவர்கள் மீது விசாரணைக்கு உத்தரவிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.

2017-18 கல்வியாண்டிற்கான பிளஸ் 2 பொதுத் தேர்வுகள் மார்ச் 1-ம் தேதி தொடங்கி நடந்து வருகிறது. இந்த தேர்வு ஏப்ரல் 6-ம் தேதி வரை நடைபெற உள்ளது. பிளஸ் 2 பொதுத் தேர்வை தமிழ்நாடு மற்றும் புதுச்சேரியில் மொத்தம் 6,903 மேல்நிலைப் பள்ளிகளிலிருந்து 8,66,934 மாணவர்கள் மற்றும் 40,686 தனித்தேர்வர்கள் என மொத்தத்தில் 9,07,620 பேர் எழுதுகின்றனர்.

பிளஸ் 2 பொதுத் தேர்வினை நடத்துவதில் எந்தவித முறைகேடுகளும் நடைபெறாத வகையில் அரசுத் தேர்வுத்துறை நடவடிக்கை மேற்கொண்டு வருகிறது. மேலும் தேர்வு கண்காணிப்புப் பணியில் ஈடுபடும் ஆசிரியர்களுக்கு தொடர்ந்து தேர்வு மையங்களில் செயல்முறைகள் குறித்து பயிற்சியும் அளிக்கப்படுகிறது.

அனைத்து மாவட்டங்களிலும் மாவட்ட ஆட்சித் தலைவர் தலைமையில் மாவட்டத் தேர்வுக்குழு அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. அவர்கள் கல்வித் துறை அலுவலர்களுடன் இணைந்து செயல்படுவர். மேலும் தேர்வு முதன்மை கண்காணிப்பாளர், அறை கண்காணிப்பாளர்களும் நியமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.

தேர்வு கண்காணிப்புப் பணியில் ஈடுபடுபவர்களை தேர்வு செய்வதற்கான முறைகளையும் தேர்வுத்துறை கையேடாக வழங்கி உள்ளது. மாவட்ட அளவில் தேர்வுப் பணியினை கண்காணிக்க ஒவ்வொரு மாவட்டத்திற்கும் கல்வித்துறையில் இருந்து இயக்குனர், இணை இயக்குனர் நியமனம் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.

இந்நிலையில் கிருஷ்ணகிரி மாவட்டத்தில் பிளஸ் 1 மற்றும் பிளஸ் 2 வகுப்பிற்கான பொதுத் தேர்விற்கான அறைக்கண்காணிப்பாளர் பணிக்கு நியமிக்கப்பட்டவர்களில் 4 மாதத்திற்கு முன் இறந்து போன ஆசிரியர் ஒருவருக்கு பணி அளிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது என ஆசிரியர்கள் குற்றம் சாட்டினர்.

கிருஷ்ணகிரி மாவட்டம் ஊத்தங்கரை அரசு பெண்கள் மேல்நிலைப் பள்ளியில் வணிகவியல் முதுகலைப் பட்டதாரி ஆசிரியர் இந்துமதி கடந்த சில மாதங்களுக்கு முன்னர் மரணமடைந்தார். ஆனால் அவருக்கு இந்த ஆண்டு பொதுத் தேர்வில் அரசு மேல்நிலைப் பள்ளி காரப்பட்டு என்ற தேர்வு மையத்திற்கு (தேர்வு மைய எண் 3417) அறைக் கண்காணிப்பாளர் பணி வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இந்த பணி நியமனத்தை பார்த்த ஆசிரியர்கள் கடும் அதிர்ச்சி அடைந்துள்ளனர். பள்ளிக் கல்வித்துறையில் அனைத்தும் ஆன்லைன் மூலம் நடைபெறுகிறது எனக் கூறி வரும் நிலையில், இறந்து சில மாதங்கள் ஆன ஆசிரியரின் பெயர் தேர்வு கண்காணிப்புப் பணிக்கு வந்துள்ளது என்பதை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளவே முடியாத ஒன்று என ஆசிரியர்கள் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர்.

இது குறித்து மாவட்ட முதன்மை கல்வி அதிகாரி கூறுகையில், ''ஊத்தங்கரை பெண்கள் மேல்நிலைப் பள்ளியில் பணியாற்றிய வணிகவியல் முதுகலைப் பட்டதாரி ஆசிரியர் இந்துமதி 4 மாதம் முன்பு இறந்துள்ளார். ஆனால் தேர்வுப் பணியில் ஈடுபடும் ஆசிரியர்கள் பெயர்பட்டியல் அவர்கள் பணிபுரியும் பள்ளியில் இருந்து பெற்று அவர்களை தேர்வுப் பணிக்கு ஒதுக்கீடு செய்வோம்.

அதனைத் தொடர்ந்து மீண்டும் ஆசிரியர்களின் அனுமதியை பெற்றுத் தரும்படியும், அவர்களில் யாருக்காவது உடல்நிலை சரியில்லாமலோ, மகப்பேறு விடுப்பில் இருந்தாலோ அது குறித்து தகவல்களை தரும்படியும் கேட்போம்.

அது மட்டுமின்றி தேர்வுப் பணிக்கு தேர்வு செய்யப்படும் ஆசிரியருக்கு தேர்வுப் பணியில் ஈடுபடுவதற்கு ஏதுவாக அவருக்கு தேர்வுப் பணி ஒதுக்கியதற்கான அனுமதி கடித்தத்தை அளிப்பதுடன், அவரை பள்ளிப் பணியில் இருந்து விடுவிக்கும் படி அந்தந்த பள்ளியின் தலைமை ஆசிரியருக்கு கடிதம் அனுப்புவோம்.

ஆனால் இந்த நடைமுறைகள் அனைத்தும் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்ட பிறகும் பள்ளியின் தலைமை ஆசிரியரிடம் இருந்து வணிகவியல் முதுகலைப் பட்டதாரி ஆசிரியர் இந்துமதி இறந்து விட்டார் என்ற தகவல் வரவில்லை. இதனாலேயே அவருக்கு தேர்வுப் பணி ஒதுக்கீடு செய்யப்பட்டது.

ஆனால் ஒவ்வொரு தேர்வு மையத்திற்கும் தேவையான அறைக் கண்காணிப்பாளர்களை விட கூடுதலாக பணிக்கு நியமனம் செய்வோம். இதனால் கிருஷ்ணகிரி மாவட்டத்தில் எந்த பிரச்சினையும் ஏற்படவில்லை. தேர்வுப் பணியில் மெத்தனமாக செயல்பட்ட தலைமை ஆசிரியரியரிடம் விசாரணை நடத்தி, துறை ரீதியான நடவடிக்கை மேற்கொள்ளப்படும்'' என்று மாவட்ட முதன்மை கல்வி அதிகாரி தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

University of Madras students demand revaluation

Chennai: Students of the University of Madras have alleged irregularities in the evaluation of answer scripts and discrimination in awarding of marks. Three students from the department of journalism and communication conducted a sit-in protest in front of Vice-Chancellor’s office demanding for revaluation of their answer scripts and action against their head of the department professor G. Ravendran for allegedly threatening them.

“Many students got the scores between 45 and to 48 and were failed. The papers were evaluated only after awarding of marks. The professor did not show our answer sheets,” they claimed.

They also claimed that they were penalised for not being part of the performing arts club called Muttram

“Of the 64 classes in a film studies course he took only 24 classes out of which 10 were the movie screening. We had only three classes for performing arts and communication elective classes,” students alleged.

During the viva for internships, the professor has allegedly threatened the students who criticised his poor attendance to the classes on a WhatsApp group. “We demand our papers should be evaluated again by independent examiners. The university should form a committee to enquire our complaints,” they demanded.

In response, professor Ravendran said the allegation that he did not show answer sheets to students was not true. “Two of the three students have seen their answer sheets and signed,” he said. Apart from the physical lectures, he said his lectures are available online. “I have uploaded several hours of lectures on Facebook,” he added.

“We have ordered revaluation for the students. The controller of examinations will constitute independent examiner to evaluate the papers,” said P. Duraisamy, Vice-Chancellor, University of Madras. “We will form a committee to inquire into the allegations against professor Ravendran,” he added.

Kerala: Government calls nurses association for talks

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Notwithstanding the invitation extended by the government for talks, the United Nurses Association has given a call to nurses in private and cooperative hospitals to take mass leave from March 6 in support of their demand for implementing minimum wages. The association leaders told media after their state committee meeting in Thrissur that 62,500 nurses working in private and cooperative hospitals in the state would go on mass casual leave. The association decide to challenge the ban imposed on the nurses strike and urged the government to appeal against the court directive to put curbs on agitations.

The UNA said that it had given strike notice to managements 15 days ago and the government had responded only on Friday by inviting them for talks on Saturday. This clearly indicated their anti-employee attitude which can also be dubbed as pro-private management stand. The association said despite chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s assurance given on July 20 that there would be no vendetta action against the nurses, several private and cooperative hospitals had thrown out nurses from their restrictions.

The UNA said that those managements which agree to grant minimum wages of Rs 20,000 would be exempted from the strike. It said seven months had passed since the government finalised the wages for nursing staff but till date only a preliminary notification has been issued. The strike is in protest against the delay in implementing the revised salary finalised by the Minimum Wages Committee. As per the decision, nurses working in private hospitals were entitled to a hike ranging from Rs 15,000 to Rs 17,000 across all categories. However, the association alleged that managements were yet to pay the revised wages. The revised wages were being denied on flimsy grounds. Even attempts made by a section of managements to stall the implementation of higher wages couldn’t succeed.

CHICAGO: A university student fatally shot his parents on his school campus Friday in the US state of Michigan before fleeing and setting off an hours-long manhunt, officials said.

The early morning incident put the campus into lockdown -- trapping students in classrooms and dormitories until mid-afternoon -- while police conducted an expansive search for the 19-year-old suspected gunman.

James Eric Davis, described as a university student, remained at large. He was accused of killing his father, a police officer, and mother in a shooting inside a dormitory building in what a university police spokesman described as a "family-type domestic issue."

There were no other casualties.

The college campus in the city of Mount Pleasant in central Michigan was on lockdown hours after the 8:30 a.m. (1330 GMT) shooting, as federal, state and local law enforcement searched for Davis using helicopters and police dogs.

Heavily armed officers fanned out throughout the city, and residents and students were asked to stay inside and lock their doors.

University officials announced at 3:00 p.m. (2000 GMT) that students were finally being escorted out of buildings by police.

"Uniformed officers are beginning to assist individuals in leaving campus buildings. Officers will be going building to building," the university said in a statement.

Suspect known to police
Davis, who was a resident of nearby Illinois state but attending college in Michigan, was known to law enforcement.

Police took him to a hospital the night before for what was believed to be a "drug-related type of incident -- an overdose or a bad reaction to drugs," campus police spokesman Larry Klaus told a news conference.

He was then released to hospital staff, Klaus said.

An Illinois state legislator identified Davis's victims as his parents, who lived in a Chicago suburb.

"The shooting at Central Michigan University today strikes close to home," tweeted the state representative, Emanuel Welch.

"My sincerest condolences go out to the family of Bellwood Police Officer James Davis Sr and his wife who were shot and killed."

It was unclear what kind of weapon Davis used or how he acquired it.

The state of Michigan allows for the concealed carrying of a handgun with a permit, but Central Michigan University does not allow guns on campus.

The reaction to the shooting was swift Friday morning, with multiple alerts going out on social media and mobile phones within minutes of the incident.

With one day left before residence halls were scheduled to close for spring break, parents seeking out their children were told to go to a staging area at a nearby hotel.

Florida shooting

The shooting came amid a renewed debate over pervasive gun violence and law enforcement's role in stopping potential shooters, which was sparked when a teenage gunman killed 17 people at a Parkland, Florida high school two weeks ago.

Accused gunman Nikolas Cruz had a history of run-ins with law enforcement, which have faced scrutiny over their failure to intervene despite multiple warnings.

Cruz used a semi-automatic assault rifle in his attack, leading students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School to make public appeals for change to permissive US gun laws.

President Donald Trump has called for training and arming some teachers, tougher background checks and a potential increase to the minimum age for rifle purchases.

But the powerful National Rifle Association gun lobby said that Trump was opposed to gun control after meeting with him on Thursday.
