State ropes in college students in Covid vax awareness drive

College students in the state have been asked to motivate their parents as well as people around them to get vaccinated. Higher education department has recently issued a notification in this regard. Notably, around 1 crore people in the state have not got the second dose of the Covid vaccine in due time.
Officials said, the students will be tasked to take the beneficiaries to the nearby vaccine center. For this reason, universities and colleges will now run awareness campaigns on Facebook to Twitter and other social media platforms.
Higher education officials said that the students who have not been administered the second dose even after the stipulated time has elapsed, will have to get the second dose of the vaccine immediately.
The principals of all the colleges are directed to contact the district collector and chief medical officer or district immunization officer and get information about the location and timing of the vaccination center and ensure publicity with the help of students.
Students are directed that if the citizens around their residence has not got the second dose of vaccine, then they should be motivated to get it.
Students should inform everyone they come in contact that the vaccine is administered at every primary health center seven days a week. They also need to emphasise that vaccination is complete only when the person has received both the doses. Therefore, it is necessary to administer the second dose of the vaccine in the stipulated time.
SMS is being sent out by the higher education department to the students studying in universities and colleges as part of the awareness campaign. "Instruct every student to compulsorily send SMS inspired for awareness campaign to all his acquaintances and WhatsApp group," said the official.
Registrars and principals should ensure that guest scholars including all academic and academic staff have got the second dose of vaccine as per eligibility in the jurisdiction. Obtaining this information in the attached prescribed format and send it to the institution compulsorily.
