A hospital director and a homoeopath were booked in Ujjain on Wednesday for the death of a Covid-19 patient due to alleged medical negligence.
The homoeopath had allegedly prescribed allopathic medication to the patient, who subsequently died, concluded a panel of doctors formed by the Ujjain chief medical officer to look into the case.
Neelganga police station in-charge Tarun Kureel said a case of death by negligence has been registered against Deshmukh Hospital and Research Centre director Shripad Deshmukh and homoeopath Suresh Sharma on the basis of the report submitted by the panel of doctors.
The patient, a 30-year-old resident of Nazar Ali Marg, was admitted to the hospital on April 17 with Covid-19 infection and diabetes as comorbidity. He died during treatment on April 21.
Kureel said the panel found that Sharma had treated the patient using allopathy medicines without the licence to do so. Family members alleged medical negligence and lodged a formal complaint with the CMHO, who ordered a probe. Later, a formal complaint was lodged at Neelganga police station.
