Mumbai student loses phone, ₹75k

A 20-year-old Mumbai student faced double whammy on his recent visit to his cousin’s place in Pandesara area of the city. Not only the man’s mobilephone was stolen but the thieves also transferred Rs 75,000 through a money transfer application installed in the phone.
According to the police, Suraj Yadav, a Class 12 student who lives in Mumbai, visited his cousin Ashish Kumar Yadav, a resident of Vinayak Nagar society in Pandesara, for a few days in October. On October 25 Suraj and his cousin kept their mobile near an open window of the house and went to sleep at around 10. 30pm. Next morning they were shocked to find their phones stolen.
When Suraj informed his fat- her about the mobile theft, it came to light that Rs 75,230 were transferred to an unknown account through a money transfer application. Suarj had installed the application, which was linked to his father’s bank account, in his mobile phone. Soon after that Suraj approached Pandesara police station and filed an application about mobile theft and money transfer incident.
