The Uttar Pradesh government has renamed the Jhansi railway station in the state as Veerangana Lakshmibai Railway Station. The order was issued by the state Public Works Department after getting the go-ahead from the home ministry.
Jhansi is the latest addition to the list of renamed stations. Earlier, Mughalsarai railway station was renamed as Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay railway station. The Yogi Adityanath government has already renamed a number of cities in recent years — including Allahabad as Prayagraj and Faizabad as Ayodhya. Sources said now the necessary process will be completed to change the code name of the earlier Jhansi railway station.
