Bench issues direction on a PIL plea
The Madras High Court Bench here on Thursday directed the State Government to complete the construction of a super speciality hospital on the Medical College grounds here within six months. A Division Bench of Justices A. Selvam and N. Authinathan gave the direction on a public interest litigation petition.
No end in sight
The order was passed after the petitioner’s counsel, R. He said, early completion of the project would help the people from southern districts to get high quality treatment in medical specialities such as neurology, urology, nephrology and cardiology without having to travel to metropolitan cities.
It was pointed out that the State Government had initially allocated Rs.150 crore for the project.
