Alert Salem division ticket checking staff honoured

The ticketing staff honoured by IG Railways, Balakrishnan.

Salem: In a kind gesture the Salem railway division has honoured an alert ticket checking staff for helping to nab a miscreant robbing train passengers.

K. Mayilsamy, chief travelling ticket checking inspector, Coimbatore of Salem railway division, had manned train no. 12672 Mettupalaiyam to Puratchi Thalaivar Dr M.G. Ramachandran Central Railway station on April 25.

In the early hours of April 26, the train crossed Katpadi junction at 02.14 hrs. After leaving Katpadi, a boarding passenger of B2 coach Berth no12 (Boarding at Katpadi) S. K. Kunchmaidu aged 42 years, was found loitering at A2 Coach,

The coach TTE Mayilsamy, enquired the person and suspected that he was stealing the belongings from other passengers. Immediately CTTI has informed the Police personnel and handed him over to the Government Railway Police/ Chennai along with seized cash of Rs 15,000, besides other valuable items stolen from coach.

On Friday, Deputy IG of Railway Police, Mr. V. Balakrishnan IPS, honoured the K. Mayilsamy with a certificate of appreciation. Mr. U. Subba Rao, divisional railway manager, and commercial officers of Salem Division, appreciated the ticket checking staff for his good work.
