The University Grants Commission (UGC) is set to specify new eligibility norms for ‘deemed to be university’ status as part of an attempt to improve learning and employability of students, officials familiar with the matter said.

An educational institution is called a deemed university when the Centre grants it the status of a varsity on the recommendations of the UGC, which regulates the country’s higher education sector. A deemed university enjoys autonomy in deciding its fee and admission structure. There are 130 deemed universities in the country.According to the new guidelines, an applicant institution must be in operation for at least 20 years. It should have at least 100 teachers and 2,000 students. One-third of the students should be pursuing research or post-graduate courses. The institutes will be required to have a minimum teacher-student ratio of 1:20 to be given deemed university status, the officials said on condition of anonymity. “The new regulations, the consultation for which is at an advanced stage, are aimed at improving learning outcomes, students’ skills and improving graduates’ employment opportunities through industry-linkages. These are also the key thrust areas of HRD [human resource development] minister Prakash Javadekar,” a UGC member said requesting anonymity.

Under the new guidelines, a deemed university will be required to have a built-up area of not less than 30 square metres per student, the official quoted above said. According to the earlier norms framed in 2016, an institute needed to have an administrative area of 1,000 square metres, academic area of 15,000 square metres, central library in 2,000 square metres and 40% open space to get deemed university tag. In a departure from the earlier norms, deemed universities will now have to put information related to approved seats in each course, admission policy, students admitted, fee structure, faculty and their qualifications, infrastructure, on their websites in the form of an affidavit, a second UGC functionary said.

The official added that this would also help in empowering students.

  அப்படித்தான் இஸ்லாமாபாத்தில் ஒரு பெண், பாம்பைப் போன்ற உருவ, வடிவம் கொண்ட கால்சட்டையை (stockings) அணிந்திருந்தார். அதுவே அவருக்கு வினையானது.

கணவன் வரத் தாமதமானதால், படுக்கை அறையில் இரவு விளக்கை மட்டும் எரியவிட்டுவிட்டுத் தூங்கினார் மனைவி. இரவு தாமதமாக வந்த கணவனுக்கு ஓர் அதிர்ச்சி காத்திருந்தது. குறைவான வெளிச்சத்தில் படுக்கையின் மீது இரண்டு பாம்புகள் இருந்ததுபோலத் தெரிந்துள்ளது. உடனே அருகிலிருந்த பேஸ்பால் மட்டையால் அவற்றைச் சரமாரியாகத் தாக்கினார்.

உடனே மனைவி வலியால் அலறித் துடித்தார். இதனையடுத்து உண்மையை அறிந்த கணவன், உடனடியாக மனைவியை மருத்துவனைக்கு அழைத்துச் சென்றார்.

இதையடுத்து அவர் மருத்துவமனையில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டு சிகிச்சை பெற்றார்.



இந்நிலையில் பெண்கள் உடையைத் தேர்வு செய்வதில் கவனமாக இருக்க வேண்டும் என்று ஒரு சாராரும், மனைவி உறங்குவதைக் கூட அடையாளம் காண முடியாதா என்று மற்றொரு சாராடும் வாதிட்டு வருகின்றனர்.

சென்னை: அரசு போக்குவரத்துக் கழகங்கள் சார்பில், 140 கோடி ரூபாயில் வாங்கப்பட்ட, 555 புதிய பஸ்களின் சேவையை, முதல்வர் பழனிசாமி, நேற்று, தலைமைச் செயலகத்தில், கொடியசைத்து துவக்கி வைத்தார்.தமிழக அரசின், எட்டு போக்குவரத்து கழகங்கள் சார்பில், 21 ஆயிரத்து, 678 பஸ்கள் இயக்கப்படுகின்றன. இவற்றின் வழியே, 1.74 கோடி பேர் பயன்பெறுகின்றனர். தமிழகம் மட்டுமின்றி, அண்டை மாநில மக்களும், பஸ் சேவை வழியே, பயன்பெற்று வருகின்றனர்.பொதுமக்களின் போக்குவரத்து தேவையை பூர்த்தி செய்வதற்காக, சென்னை மாநகர போக்குவரத்து கழகத்திற்கு, 56; விழுப்புரம் - 82; சேலம் - 112; கோவை - 140; கும்பகோணம் - 102; மதுரை - 63 என, ஆறு போக்குவரத்துக் கழகங்களுக்கு, 555 பஸ்கள், 140 கோடி ரூபாய்க்கு வாங்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.இப்பஸ்களை துவக்கி வைப்பதற்கு அடையாளமாக, தலைமைச் செயலகத்தில் நடந்த நிகழ்ச்சியில், ஏழு பஸ்களை, முதல்வர் பழனிசாமி, கொடியசைத்து துவக்கி வைத்தார். இந்நிகழ்ச்சியில், துணை முதல்வர் பன்னீர்செல்வம் மற்றும் அமைச்சர்கள் பங்கேற்றனர்.சென்னைக்கு சிவப்புசென்னை மாநகர போக்குவரத்து கழகத்திற்கு வழங்கப்பட்ட, 56 பஸ்களும் சிவப்பு நிறத்தில் உள்ளன. அவற்றின், ரப்பர் புஷ், பீடிங் உள்ளிட்ட பாகங்கள், கறுப்பு வண்ணத்தில் உள்ளன. கறுப்பு, சிவப்பு நிறங்கள், தி.மு.க.,வுக்கு பொருந்தும் என்பதால், எழுத்துக்கள் வெள்ளை நிறத்தில் எழுதப்பட்டு, அ.தி.மு.க.,வை நினைவுபடுத்தும் வகையில் உள்ளன.சிறப்பு வசதிகள்புதிய பஸ்களில், முதியோர், கர்ப்பிணிகள் எளிதாக ஏறும் வகையில், அகலமான, தாழ்தள படிக்கட்டுகள் மற்றும் தானியங்கி கதவுகள் உள்ளன.நிற்பவர்களுக்கு அகலமான தளம், பயணியர் இறங்கும் இடத்தை அறிவிக்கும் ஒலிபெருக்கி கருவி; வழித்தடத்தை அறியும் வகையில், எல்.இ.டி.,யில் ஒளிரும் திரை, பஸ்சுக்குள் அதிகம் வெளிச்சம் தரும் குழல் விளக்குகள் உள்ளிட்ட வசதிகள் உள்ளன.

மதுரை: உடல்நிலையை காரணம்காட்டி, விருப்ப ஓய்வு பெற போலீசார் ஆர்வம் காட்டி வருகின்றனர். கடந்தாண்டு மட்டும், 49 பேர் விருப்ப ஓய்வு பெற்ற நிலையில், இந்தாண்டு இந்த எண்ணிக்கை அதிகரிக்க வாய்ப்புள்ளது.
மன அழுத்தம் : தமிழக போலீஸ் பணியில் சேர்ந்து படிப்படியாக ஏட்டு, சிறப்பு, எஸ்.ஐ., என, போலீசார் பதவி உயர்வு பெறுகின்றனர். இந்த இடைப்பட்ட காலத்தில் பெரும்பாலானோர் பணிச்சுமை, மனஅழுத்தம், நேரத்திற்கு சாப்பிடாமை போன்ற பல்வேறு காரணங்களால், உடல்நலம் பாதிக்கப்படுகின்றனர். சிலர் இறந்தும் போகின்றனர்.கையில் இருக்கும் அனைத்து விடுமுறை சலுகைகளையும் எடுத்த பிறகும், உடல்நலத்தை காக்க முடியாததால், வேறுவழியின்றி விருப்ப ஓய்வை தேர்ந்தெடுக்கின்றனர்.
விருப்ப ஓய்வு பெற்ற, எஸ்.ஐ., ஒருவர் கூறியதாவது:சில ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன், எனக்கு மாரடைப்பு ஏற்பட்டு, பைபாஸ் சர்ஜரி செய்தேன். பணிச்சுமையால் ஏற்பட்ட டென்ஷன்தான் காரணம். தினமும் மன அழுத்தத்தால், 'பிபி' எகிறி பல பிரச்னைக்கு காரணமானது.இனியும், இந்த வேலையில் இருந்தால், பணியின்போதே இறந்துடுவேன் என குடும்பத்தினர் அஞ்சினர். அதனால், விருப்ப ஓய்வு பெற்று, அதில் கிடைத்த தொகையில் கடை ஒன்றை ஆரம்பித்து, இப்போது எந்த டென்ஷனும் இல்லாமல் நடத்தி வருகிறேன். இவ்வாறு அவர் கூறினார்.

கடந்தாண்டு உடல்நலத்தை காரணம் காட்டி தமிழக அளவில், 49 பேர் விருப்ப ஓய்வு பெற்றனர். இந்தாண்டு லோக்சபா தேர்தல் பாதுகாப்பு பணி இருப்பதால், அதற்குள் விருப்ப ஓய்வு பெற்றுவிட வேண்டும், என சில போலீசார் ஆர்வம் காட்டி விண்ணப்பித்து வருகின்றனர்.இதனால், கடந்தாண்டைவிட இந்தாண்டு, எண்ணிக்கை அதிகரிக்க வாய்ப்புள்ளது.

சென்னை,

நாடு முழுவதும் உள்ள மத்திய அரசு ஊழியர்கள் 10 அம்ச கோரிக்கைகளை வலியுறுத்தி இன்றும், நாளையும் வேலைநிறுத்த போராட்டத்தில் ஈடுபடப்போவதாக அறிவித்துள்ளனர். அதாவது, “விலைவாசி உயர்வை கட்டுப்படுத்த வேண்டும். தொழிலாளர் சட்டங்களை மீறுவோர் மீது கடும் நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும். அனைத்து தொழிலாளர்களுக்கும் சமூக பாதுகாப்பு வழங்க வேண்டும். குறைந்தபட்ச கூலியாக மாதம் ரூ.18 ஆயிரம் நிர்ணயம் செய்ய வேண்டும். மத்திய-மாநில பொதுத்துறைகளின் பங்கு விற்பனைகளை கைவிட வேண்டும்” என்பது அவர்களின் முக்கிய கோரிக்கை ஆகும்.

நாடு முழுவதும் இன்று (செவ்வாய்கிழமை) தொடங்கும் வேலை நிறுத்த போராட்டத்தில் 13 லட்சம் மத்திய அரசு ஊழியர்கள் கலந்துகொள்ள இருப்பதாக தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இந்த போராட்டத்தில் பங்கேற்க போவதாக தேசிய அளவிலான தொழிற்சங்கங்கள் அறிவித்து உள்ளன. மேலும், தமிழக அரசு ஊழியர்கள், ஆசிரியர்கள், வங்கி ஊழியர்கள், பொதுத்துறை மற்றும் தனியார் துறை ஊழியர்கள் இந்த போராட்டத்துக்கு ஆதரவு அளிப்பார்கள் என தெரிகிறது.

பஸ்கள் ஓடுமா?

தமிழ்நாடு அரசு ஊழியர் சங்கம், இந்திய வங்கி ஊழியர் சம்மேளனம், தமிழ்நாடு அரசு டாஸ்மாக் பணியாளர் சங்கம், டாஸ்மாக் ஊழியர் மாநில சம்மேளனம் உள்ளிட்ட சங்கங்களும் வேலைநிறுத்த போராட்டத்துக்கு ஆதரவு தெரிவித்துள்ளன. அதேபோல், போக்குவரத்து, மின்வாரிய சங்கங்களும் பங்கேற்க இருப்பதாக உறுதியளித்துள்ளன.

2 நாள் போராட்டத்தால் வங்கி சேவையில் பாதிப்பு ஏற்படும் அபாயம் ஏற்பட்டுள்ளது. போக்குவரத்து தொழிலாளர்களும் போராட்டத்தில் பங்கேற்பார்கள் என்று தெரிகிறது. இதனால் அரசு பஸ் போக்குவரத்திலும் சிக்கல் ஏற்படும் நிலை ஏற்பட்டுள்ளது. ஏற்கனவே, ‘பணிக்கு வராவிட்டால் சம்பளம் கிடையாது’ என்று தமிழக அரசு ஊழியர்களுக்கு தலைமைச் செயலாளர் கிரிஜா வைத்தியநாதன் எச்சரிக்கை விடுத்துள்ளார்.

இந்த நிலையில், 2 நாள் பொது வேலை நிறுத்தம் தொடர்பாக எடுக்கப்பட வேண்டிய முன்னெச்சரிக்கை நடவடிக்கைகள் குறித்து தமிழ்நாடு மின் பகிர்மான கழக இயக்குனர் (வினியோகம்) அனைத்து அதிகாரிகளுக்கும் அனுப்பியுள்ள உத்தரவில் கூறியிருப்பதாவது:-

ஊழியர்களுக்கு லீவு கிடையாது

அனைத்து கிளை மின் நிலையங்கள், வினியோக அலுவலகங்கள், ஸ்டோர்கள், வாகனங்கள், பணிபுரியும் ஊழியர்கள் அனைவருக்கும் இந்த வேலைநிறுத்த காலம் முழுவதிலும் தகுந்த போலீஸ் பாதுகாப்பு வழங்க அனைத்து தலைமை என்ஜினீயர்களும் ஏற்பாடு செய்ய வேண்டும். அனைத்து அதிகாரிகளும் வேலை நிறுத்த காலம் முழுவதிலும், அதாவது இன்று காலை 6 மணி முதல் 10-ந் தேதி காலை 6 மணி வரை தங்கள் மின் நிலையங்கள், அலுவலகங்களில் தயாராக இருக்க வேண்டும்.

வேலைநிறுத்த காலம் முழுவதிலும் தடையில்லாமல் மின் சப்ளை வழங்குவதை உறுதி செய்ய, ஏதாவது மின் தடங்களோ, ‘பியூஸ்’ ஏற்பட்டாலோ, உடனடியாக அதை சரிசெய்ய தேவையான ஊழியர்களும், பொருட்களும் தயாராக இருக்க வேண்டும். தேவை ஏற்பட்டால், இதுபோன்ற மின் தடைகளை சரிசெய்ய வழக்கமான ஊழியர்களுடன் வெளியில் இருந்தும் ஆட்களை பயன்படுத்திக்கொள்ளலாம். தொடர்ந்து பணியாற்றும் ஊழியர்களுக்கு தேவையான உணவு மற்றும் டீ, காபி போன்றவற்றை வழங்க வேண்டும். தேவையான சாதனங்களும், வாகனங்களும் எந்தவித அவசர நிலையையும் சமாளிக்க தயாராக இருக்க வேண்டும். இந்த 2 நாட்களும் அங்கொன்றும், இங்கொன்றுமாக விரும்பத்தகாத செயல் நடந்தால் தலைமை என்ஜினீயருக்கு தெரிவிக்க வேண்டும். இதுபோல் கட்டண வசூலும், வங்கியில் போய் அதை செலுத்துவதும் தடையில்லாமல் நடைபெற வேண்டும். இந்த 2 நாள் வேலை நிறுத்த காலங்களில் எந்த அதிகாரிக்கும், ஊழியருக்கும் லீவு எடுத்துக்கொள்ளவோ, வேலைக்கு வராமல் இருப்பதற்கான அனுமதியோ வழங்கப்படாது.

வீட்டுக் கடனையும் திட்டமிடுங்கள்!

முந்தைய காலங்களைப் போல் இல்லாமல், இன்றைய காலகட்டத்தில் வீட்டுக் கடன் அளிக்க வங்கிகள் போட்டி போட்டுக் கொண்டு விளம்பரங்கள் செய்கின்றன. எனினும், சொந்த குடியிருப்பு அல்லது வீடு வாங்க முடிவு செய்தவுடன் சில விஷயங்களில் பொதுமக்கள் கவனம் செலுத்துவது அவசியம்.

பொதுமக்களின் நலன் கருதி RERA 2016 (Real Estate Regulation Act) சட்டம் அமலில் உள்ளது. இந்தச் சட்டத்தின் நிபந்தனைக்கு உட்பட்டுத்தான் குடியிருப்புகளை அடுக்குமாடி குடியிருப்பு விற்பனையாளர்கள் விற்கின்றனரா என வாங்குவோர் பார்ப்பது மிக முக்கியம். கட்டடம் கட்டித் தருபவர்கள் குறித்த நேரத்தில் தங்கள் பணியை முடிக்காமல் ஏமாற்றினாலோ அல்லது அதிக பணம் வசூலித்தாலோ பயனாளிகள் புகார் தரலாம். எனவே, "ரெரா'வின் அங்கீகாரம் பெற்ற நிறுவனத்திடம் பயனாளிகள் ஒப்பந்தம் செய்து கொண்டு குடியிருப்பை வாங்குவது நல்லது.

வங்கியில் கடன் பெறத் திட்டமிடும்போது கட்டணங்கள் குறித்து முன்கூட்டியே ஆய்வு செய்து எந்த வங்கியில் கட்டணங்கள் குறைவாக இருக்கிறதோ அதைத் தேர்வுசெய்யலாம். கடன் பெறும்போது செயல்முறை தொகை அல்லது பரிசீலனைத் தொகை (Processing Fees), ஆவணத் தொகை (Document fees), சொத்து சரிபார்க்கும் தொகை (Legal Fees), சொத்து மதிப்பீடும் தொகை (Property Valuation   Fees) எனப் பலவித கட்டணங்களைக் கடனாளி செலுத்த வேண்டும். இவை அனைத்துக்கும் ஜிஎஸ்டி செலுத்த வேண்டும்.

ஆனால் , மாதாந்திர வட்டி தொகைக்கு எந்த வங்கியும் ஜிஎஸ்டி வசூல் செய்யக் கூடாது. இந்தத் தொகையும் வங்கிக்கு வங்கி மாறுபடுவதால், கடனாளி அந்தந்த வங்கியின் இணையதளத்தில் கூர்ந்து ஆராய்ந்து, எதில் மிகக் குறைவோ அந்த வங்கியின் சேவையைப் பெறலாம்.
வங்கிக் கடனைப் பொருத்தவரையில், உங்கள் மாதச் சம்பளமும் , வீட்டு மனையின் ஆவணங்களும் முக்கியமான பங்கு வகிக்கும். அதாவது, மாதச் சம்பளத்தில் (தொழில் செய்பவராயின் வருமான வரி முறைப்படி, மாத வருமானத்தில் ) சுமார் 30 சதவீதம் வரை இஎம்ஐ (மாதத் தவணை ) செலுத்தினால் சிறந்தது. இந்த அடிப்படை நிபந்தனைகளைச் சரியாக கவனிக்காமல் , சில வங்கிகள்/நிதி நிறுவனங்கள் கடன் ஒப்புதல் (Loan Sanction) செய்துவிட்டு , செயல்முறைத் தொகை (Processing Fees) வசூல் செய்து, பிறகு கடனை வழங்காமல், பணம் பட்டுவாடா செய்யாமல் தாமதிப்பதுண்டு. 

வினாக்களைப் பயனாளிகள் எழுப்பும்போது, அந்த நிறுவனங்கள், "இந்த ஆவணம் சரியல்ல, வேறு சொத்து வாங்கும்போது இந்த செயல்முறை தொகையைப் பயன்படுத்துவோம்' என்று சமாளிப்பார்கள். அப்போது பயனாளிகள் குறை தீர்க்கும் தீர்ப்பாணையம் (Ombudsman) சென்று தங்களது குறைகளைப் பதிவிட்டு வெற்றி பெறலாம். அப்படி தீர்ப்பாணையத்தை அணுக, வழக்குரைஞர் மூலமாகத்தான் செல்ல வேண்டும் என்ற கட்டாயம் இல்லை. 

அடுத்து, வீட்டுக் கடனுக்கான வட்டி கணக்கிடும் முறை குறித்து புரிதல் வேண்டும். உதாரணமாக , ஒருவர் 01.11.18 அன்று ரூ .10 லட்சம் வீட்டுக் கடன் பெறுகிறார். தவணையாக கடனைத் திருப்பிச் செலுத்த ரூ .10,000 தொகையை 15.11.18 அன்று கட்டி விடுகிறார். மாத முடிவில் அந்த மாதத்துக்கான வட்டித் தொகையை அவரது கணக்கில் வங்கி கூட்டும். அதாவது, 30.11.18 அன்று வட்டித் தொகையை கணக்கிடும்போது, 1.11.18 முதல் 14.11.18 வரை (அதாவது 14 நாள்களுக்கு ) ரூ .10 லட்சம் முதலுக்கு வட்டியும் , 15-11-18 முதல் 30.11.18 வரை (அதாவது 16 நாள்களுக்கு ) ரூ. 9,90,000 முதலுக்கு வட்டியும் கணக்கிட வேண்டும். இப்படி வட்டி கணக்கிடும் முறைதான் நியாயமானது.

இந்த முறைதான் கடன் பெற்றவருக்கு லாபமானது. இந்த முறையைத்தான் பொதுத்துறை வங்கிகள் கடைப்பிடிக்கின்றன. இதற்கு மாறாக , முழு மாதத்துக்கும் (அதாவது ,மொத்த 30 நாள்களுக்கும் ) ரூ.10 லட்சம் முதலுக்கு வட்டி கணக்கிடுதல் பாதகமாக அமையும் . சில தனியார் வங்கிகளும், வங்கி சாரா நிதி நிறுவனங்களும் (என்பிஎஃப்சி) லாப நோக்கோடு செயல்படுவதால் இரண்டாவது முறை வட்டி கணக்கிடும் முறையைக் கடைப்பிடிக்கின்றன.

வீட்டுக் கடன் பெற்று தொடர்ந்து செலுத்தி வரும் நிலையில் வருமான வரிச் சட்டப் பிரிவு 80-சி-இன்படி மாதத் தவணை (இஎம்ஐ) தொகைக்கு மொத்தம் ரூ.1,50,000 வரையிலும் சட்டப் பிரிவு 24-இன்படி மாதத் தவணை தொகையுடன் இணைந்த வட்டித் தொகைக்கு ரூ.2,00,000 வரையிலும் வருமான வரிச் சலுகை பெறலாம்.

வீட்டுக் கடன் பெறுபவர், தனது வயதைக் கருத்தில் கொண்டு திரும்பச் செலுத்தும் கால அளவை அதிகபட்சம் 30 ஆண்டுகள் என நிர்ணயித்துக் கொண்டு செலுத்தலாம். இளம் வயதில் (30 வயது) கடன் பெற்றால், 60 வயது வரை கடனைத் திரும்பச் செலுத்துவதற்கு வங்கி விதிகளில் அனுமதி உண்டு. சற்று வயதாகி , அதாவது 45 வயதில் ஒருவர் ரூ.10 லட்சம் கடன் பெற்றால், 10 சதவீத வட்டி விகிதத்தில் 20 ஆண்டுகளில் மொத்தமாக திருப்பி அடைக்க, மாதத் தவணை ரூ.9,650 என்ற கணக்கில் அமையும் . அதாவது , அவரது 65-ஆவது வயதில் மொத்தக் கடனையும் அடைத்து விடலாம் .
அதிக ஆண்டுகள் (அதாவது 30 ஆண்டுகள்) கடனை பயனாளி திரும்பச் செலுத்தும் நிலையில், அவர் கட்டும் மாதத் தவணை குறைவாக இருக்கும்; மொத்தமாக கட்டிய வட்டித் தொகை அதிகமாக இருக்கும்; வருமான வரிச் சலுகையின் பலனும் அதிகமாக இருக்கும். குறைவான காலத்தில் (அதாவது, 15 ஆண்டுகளில்) மொத்தமாகக் கடனை அடைக்கும் நிலையில், மேலே கூறிய பயன்கள் எதிர்மாறாக அமையும். எனவே, பயனாளி தனது பொருளாதார நிலைப்பாட்டை பல கோணங்களில் அலசி ஆராய்ந்து தனது வசதிக்கு ஏற்றவாறு சீர்தூக்கி முடிவெடுப்பதே சரியான அணுகுமுறையாகும்.

கிருஷ்ணகிரி மாவட்டம் ஊத்தங்கரை தாலுகா சாமல்பட்டி அருகே உள்ளது கஞ்சனூர். இங்குள்ள நாடார் தெருவை சேர்ந்தவர் கணேசன் (வயது 50). பனை மரம் ஏறும் தொழிலாளி. இவர் நேற்று காலை அந்த பகுதியில் உள்ள பனைமரத்தில் பதனீர் எடுப்பதற்காக ஏறினார்.

பனை மரத்தின் உச்சியில் இருந்த போது அவருக்கு திடீரென்று மாரடைப்பு ஏற்பட்டது. இதில் அவர் உயிர் இழந்தார். இதனால் மரத்தில் தலைகீழாக பிணமாக தொங்கினார். இதை பார்த்த அந்த பகுதி பொதுமக்கள் அதிர்ச்சி அடைந்தனர்.

இது குறித்து ஊத்தங்கரை தீயணைப்பு நிலையத்திற்கு தகவல் தெரிவித்தனர். அதன் பேரில் தீயணைப்பு வீரர்கள் விரைந்து சென்று கணேசனின் உடலை மீட்டு கீழே கொண்டு வர முயற்சித்தனர். ஆனால் முடியவில்லை. இதைத்தொடர்ந்து பொக்லைன் எந்திரம் வரவழைக்கப்பட்டு, உடலை மீட்டனர். இதையடுத்து சாமல்பட்டி போலீஸ் இன்ஸ்பெக்டர் வீரப்பன் மற்றும் போலீசார் சம்பவ இடத்திற்கு சென்று உடலை கைப்பற்றி பிரேத பரிசோதனைக்காக ஊத்தங்கரை அரசு ஆஸ்பத்திரிக்கு அனுப்பி வைத்தனர்.

இறந்து போன கணேசனுக்கு மனைவியும், ஒரு மகனும், மகளும் உள்ளனர். மகளுக்கு திருமணம் ஆகி விட்டது. இது குறித்து சாமல்பட்டி போலீசார் வழக்குப்பதிவு செய்து விசாரணை நடத்தி வருகிறார்கள்.

பனைமரத்தில் தலைகீழாக பிணமாக தொழிலாளி தொங்கிய சம்பவம் அந்த பகுதியில் சோகத்தை ஏற்படுத்தியது.

விலைவாசி உயர்வை கட்டுப்படுத்துவது, மத்திய அரசின் புதிய பொருளாதார கொள்கைக்கு எதிர்ப்பு தெரிவிப்பது, புதிய ஓய்வூதிய திட்டத்தை திரும்ப பெற வலியுறுத்துவது என்பது உள்ளிட்ட 10 அம்ச கோரிக்கைகளை வலியுறுத்தி நாடு முழுவதும் உள்ள மத்திய அரசு ஊழியர்கள் நாளை (8-ந் தேதி) மற்றும் நாளை மறுநாள் (9-ந் தேதி) வேலை நிறுத்த போராட்டத்தில் ஈடுபட உள்ளனர்.

இந்த போராட்டத்தில், நாடு முழுவதிலும் இருந்து 13 லட்சம் மத்திய அரசு ஊழியர்கள் கலந்துகொள்ள இருப்பதாக தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டு உள்ளது. மேலும், மாநில அரசு ஊழியர்கள், ஆசிரியர்கள், வங்கி ஊழியர்கள், பொதுத்துறைகளில் பணியாற்றும் பல்வேறு அமைப்புகளை சேர்ந்த ஊழியர்கள், தனியார் துறை ஊழியர்கள் என பெரும்பாலான தொழிற்சங்கங்களை சேர்ந்தவர்கள் இந்த போராட்டத்தில் பங்கேற்க இருப்பதாக தெரிகிறது.

போராட்டம் தொடர்பாக, மத்திய அரசு ஊழியர்கள் மகா சம்மேளனத்தின் மாநில பொதுச்செயலாளர் துரைப்பாண்டியன், ‘தினத்தந்தி’ நிருபரிடம் கூறியதாவது:-

2 நாள் வேலைநிறுத்த போராட்டத்தில், பா.ஜ.க. தொழிற்சங்கமான பி.எம்.எஸ். தவிர அனைத்து தொழிற்சங்கங்களும் கலந்துகொள்ள இருக்கின்றன. தமிழ்நாட்டில் 1½ லட்சம் மத்திய அரசு ஊழியர்களும், சுமார் 9 லட்சம் மாநில அரசு ஊழியர்களும், 3 லட்சம் ஆசிரியர்களும் பங்கேற்கின்றனர்.

இதேபோல், வங்கி மற்றும் இன்சூரன்ஸ் ஊழியர்களும் வேலைநிறுத்த போராட்டத்தில் கலந்துகொள்கின்றனர். போக்குவரத்து ஊழியர்களும் பங்கேற்பதால், பஸ் போக்கு வரத்து பாதிக்கப்படும். ஆட்டோக்களும் ஓடாது. இவ்வாறு அவர் கூறினார்.

வழக்கமான அலுவலக பணிகள் பாதிக்கும் வகையில் வேலைநிறுத்தத்தில் ஈடுபடுவது தமிழக அரசு ஊழியர்கள் நன்னடத்தை விதிகளுக்கு எதிரானதாகும்.

எனவே, அனைத்து துறை தலைமை நிர்வாகிகளும், மாவட்ட கலெக்டர்களும் தங்களுக்கு கீழ் பணியாற்றும் அலுவலர்களுக்கு இதுகுறித்து தெரிவித்து வேலைநிறுத்தத்தில் ஈடுபட்டால் ஒழுங்கு நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்படும் என்று அறிவுறுத்த வேண்டும்.

Pudukkottai: In a terrible road tragedy, at least ten lord Ayyappa devotees from Telangana were killed and five others were injured when a van in which they were traveling collided head-on with a truck near Thirumayam near Pudukkottai on Sunday.

Police said the occupants of the van hailing from Medak district in Telangana were proceeding towards Pudukkottai from Karaikudi en route to Sabarimala in neighbouring Kerala when the mishap occurred. The truck had allegedly occupied the right side of the narrow road leading to the collision.


The deceased were identified as Nagaraj, Mahesh, Kumar, Shyam, Praveen, Krishna , Shayee, Anjaneyalu ,Suresh and the van driver (name could not be immediately ascertained), police sources told DC over phone. All the injured were admitted to Government medical college hospital here

Ariyalur: A girl student of the Government Arts college Ariyalur will represent the country, along with three others in the international (Olympic) kick boxing (karate) women event to be held at Tokyo in Japan from July 24 to August 9 this year, according to Karatre Master L. Saravanan who is giving to training to her.

He told DC that the girl, Suganthi, daughter of a vegetable vendor, Mrs. Selvi of Ariyalur, pursuing her first year undergraduate course in environmental science, has annexed a championship and won the gold in 45-50 kg category of women section of the ‘All India Martial Arts Championship-2018’ kick boxing event held at Puducherry recently, in which 1,800 boys and girls from different states took part.

Mr. Saravanan said Pudhucherry Governor Dr Kiren Bedi and Chief Minister V. Narayanaswamy who gave the prizes to the winners of the national event, openly announced that the Pudhucherry government will bear the entire expenses of Suganthi to enable her to participate in the proposed Olympic event at Tokyo, Japan.Ms. Suganthi said she is now undergoing training and preparing for facing the Olympic event in an effective manner. She hoped that she will win the gold there also, to add glory to her college and the country. Suganthi said she was greeted by the college principal Palanisamy and others for her achievement at the Puducherry event recently.

Chennai: Additional Superintendent of Police(Cyber Crime) S.P. Lavanya urged women against adding unidentified persons to their social media accounts as she spoke about issues that women face in cyber space and how they can seek legal help.

Speaking at a seminar, ‘Digital Security: Emerging Trends’, conducted by the Digital Security Association of India, Ms Lavanya gave tops on the various ways to protect privacy online. “When faced with online sexual harassment, most websites have a reporting mechanism. If a harasser is reported, the website has its own policy of how to treat them,”she said.

If the harassment is of an extreme nature, the police should be informed, she said. “Suo moto cognizance will be taken and immediate action will be ensured,”Ms Lavanya said.

Speaking of apps which ask for permission to access the photo gallery and contacts of mobile phone uses, Ms Lavanya said that the extent of the privacy invasion is unknown. “The app can access all information which could include private images. The contacts list can also be accessed, which could go terribly wrong.”

Ms Lavanya stated that some laws could be beneficial if used correctly but their abuse, like in the case of Section 66A of the IT Act was wrong. Women, especially in rural areas, do not understand the extent of violation of privacy. “We need to work towards empowering them,”she said.

Chennai: Railway police arrested three persons after they tried to sexually harass a 19-year-old girl at Taramani mass rapid transport system station on Saturday night.

According to the police, the girl, a native of Kerala, is a second-year student of an arts college in the city. She reportedly stays at a private hostel in Mylapore.

Around 10 pm on Saturday night, the girl was on platform 2 of Taramani MTRS station with a male classmate. The two soon attracted undue attention.

Three men approached them and on establishing that they were not related, forcibly took them to the ticket issuing office on the pretext of conducting an “inquiry”. The college students did not realise that they were being taken to the workroom on the first floor and not the ticket counter on the ground floor.

The three men reportedly told the two they were station staff. They allegedly made snide remarks about the relationship between the two and demanded R 5,000, failing which they threatened to call their families and tell them about their affair.

The two told the “officers” they had no money and could not arrange Rs 5,000 at such a short notice. Losing their patience, the three men asked the girl to step out, saying they needed to talk to the boy alone. But they beat up the boy and then stepped out looking for the girl, the police quoted her as saying.

On finding her, they pushed her into a lift at the railway station and tried to misbehave with her. The girl, however, managed to break free and found a police patrol car near the station. The patrol car informed the Tiruvanmiyur railway police and waited with the girl till the railway protection force arrived.

Following a complaint by the girl, the Tiruvanmiyur railway police arrested two men, identified as Lokesh and Lucas, from the station. On the basis of their statements, the police later picked up their accomplice, Sriram. Lokesh was identified as the ticketing clerk at Taramani, while the other two are lift operators. Further investigations are on.

AICTE to conduct inquiry into suicide of engineering faculty in Chennai college

Chennai: The suicide of a member of the engineering faculty of a city engineering college two months ago, after the college refused to hand him his original certificates, has been taken seriously by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) which is planning to conduct an inquiry on January 8 at the college premises.

The 30-year-old T Vasantha Vanan joined the faculty at Sree Sastha Institute of Engineering and Technology in Chembarambakkam, in August last year. He quit the job within a month after getting a job as temporary teaching faculty in the production engineering department of Madras Institute of Technology (MIT).

Though he repeatedly asked Sree Sastha Institute to give him back his original certificates, the college management reportedly refused to do so and harassed him. His relatives alleged that he was even thrashed by hirelings of the college management for going to the police.

It is alleged that the humiliation caused by the treatment meted out to him, pushed the gold medallist from the prestigious College of Engineering, Guindy, to take the decision to end his life on November 12, 2018.

“AICTE’s regional office will hold the inquiry in the college premises on Tuesday. The council has summoned the relatives of Mr Vasantha Vanan to the inquiry,” sources said.

During his interview prior to joining Sree Sastha, Vasantha Vanan had reportedly informed the management that he had applied for the temporary position at MIT, one of the four university departments of Anna University, and would take up the job if it was offered to him.

But when he received the offer letter from MIT, the management of Sree Sastha Institute allegedly refused to hand him back his certificates though he had not received even a month’s salary from the college.

Since AICTE has received several complaints regarding the withholding of certificates of faculty members, it introduced penal action for such an act in its approval process handbook for 2019-20.

‘The Institution should not demand the original degree certificates from the faculty members at the time of joining the Institution,’ says the AICTE handbook.

‘Institutions demanding the original degree certificates from faculty members at the time of joining the institution shall be liable for no admission for one  academic year or withdrawal of approval of the institutions,’ the council warned the engineering colleges. The punitive section has been newly added to the handbook to empower universities to take action against erring colleges.

The Private Educational Institutions Employees’ Association has
welcomed the move by AICTE and suggested to Anna University that it should not ask for original certificates.

“Instead of asking for original certificates, the university officials should ask for certificate numbers and copies of original certificates. They can later verify the genuineness of the certificates with the certificate numbers,” said KM Karthik, president of the Association. He said only around 15 per cent of colleges have returned the certificates.

Decision to allow arts and science courses in engineering colleges slammed

Chennai: Educationists and academicians have slammed the move of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to allow engineering colleges to run arts and science courses in parallel on the same campus.

AICTE's chairman Anil D Sahasrabudhe's comment that engineering colleges would be allowed to start B.Sc. or BA courses on their premises in view of a huge vacancy in engineering seats has sparked a row.

He further said a separate approval is needed for arts and science courses from concerned universities and state higher education directorates.

In the approval handbook for 2019-20, the council said that it would not insist on separate boundary walls for institutions in the same campus by the same trust or society or company provided that the land and built-up area norms are fulfilled.

“It would further deteriorate engineering education. The dual mode courses in the same campus will lead to misuse of resources and confusion,” said E.Balagurusamy, former Vice-Chancellor, Anna University.

He further said the AICTE's concern should be on improving the quality of engineering education.

“The move will only allow the engineering colleges to make money and will not improve the quality of engineering education,” Mr. Balagurusamy said. He urged the council to roll back its decision.

Some professors accused the AICTE of talking in the language of private engineering colleges.

“Unless the focus is in engineering, an engineering institution cannot flourish. Engineering deserves a special calibre and mindset, and so do arts and science courses,” said I. Arul Aram, president of Tamil Nadu Federation of University Faculty Associations (TANFUFA) and president of Anna University Teachers' Association.

“To fill the coffers of engineering colleges, we should not stoop too low to change the very engineering identity of the colleges. Engineering colleges should remain engineering colleges,” he added.

Many professors argued that it was the poor quality of engineers produced by engineering colleges that is one of the main reasons for engineers being  unemployed leading to poor enrolment.

K.M. Karthik, president of Private Educational Institutions Employees Association said the AICTE has powers only to regulate technical education.

“The move would affect the faculty members in engineering colleges and the fee for arts and science courses might go up,” he warned.

Kilpauk medical college student attempts suicide after alleged ragging on campus

Chennai: Alleged ragging by students in the Kilpauk medical college forced a girl student from Ramanathapuram to attempt to commit suicide, but timely medical intervention saved her life, police said. The survivor is a first-year nursing student at KMC.

She stays at the Women’s hostel in Kilpauk hospital campus. Sources said two girls from the same hostel allegedly offended her by taking the name of her caste. The girl alleges that constant ragging by the two students had troubled her and as she was unable to bear the torture, she decided to end her life. She allegedly consumed sleeping tablets and fell unconscious. Immediately she was taken to the hospital, after which she regained consciousness.

Her parents said that she used to complain about ragging in the hostel, but gave them the impression that she could manage it.

However, KMC Dean P. Vanitha Mani on Sunday said that the girl consumed only two tablets of Diazepam 5 mg which were prescribed for hypertension sleeping dose. After treatment, she was stable and was discharged and sent with her parents on Sunday afternoon. She feels sorry for the incident and the two girls had also pleaded guilty, she added.

CHENNAI: A first-year nursing student in a government medical college in the city on Saturday allegedly attempted to kill self after she was chided by her senior. 

College officials ruled out it to be a case of ragging, but said that a senior student merely scolded her for handling a syringe, which is not part of the curriculum for the first-year students.

“The student was posted on clinical duty as part of her curriculum on Saturday. First-year students are usually trained in patient care. In the second year only, they will handle injections. But, on the day, she allegedly was assisting a doctor in the ward and was seen handling injection. A second-year student, who saw injection in her hand, shouted at her, saying that as a first-year student, she was not supposed to handle injection,” said the vice-principal of the college.

After returning to her hostel room, she reportedly consumed tablets prescribed for her father and in a few minutes, she herself informed one of her classmates about her action. The hostel warden alerted the college management and the girl was hospitalised. The vice-principal said the girl’s condition was stable and discharged on Sunday and her parents took her home.

It was said the 17-year old student was staying away from home for the first time in her life. “The student was already feeling home sick as this is her first experience of staying away from home. Her senior’s outburst added to her sickness,” the vice-principal claimed.

CHENNAI: ABbuse of antibiotics has resulted in the rise of yet another super-bug. Doctors from the Christian Medical College in Vellore have documented an “exceedingly dangerous” version of a common bacteria that can cause death or lead to severe health complications. Doctors fear that the multiple drug-resistant strain of this bacteria is the result of increased and poorly regulated usage of antibiotics.

The hypervirulent strain of Klebsiella pneumonia causes an “extremely high” mortality rate of 84.2 per cent. This was found by CMC doctors who studied 86 patients (also from CMC, Vellore) infected by this specific strain, for a period of two years. The findings were published in a recent issue of Journal of the Association of Physicians of India.

Klebsiella pneumonia is a common pathogen. It causes a wide range of infections including pneumonia, urinary tract infection, intra-abdominal infection and wound infection. But this particular strain that has been documented is far more dangerous, says the study. It has a layer of mucous around it, which prevents the entry of drugs, making it resistant to multiple types of medicines.

“We have called this problem a ‘double whammy’,” says Dr Balaji Veeraraghavan, a senior clinical microbiologist and one of the authors of the study. That is because the “increased virulence” of the pathogen and its “decreased susceptibility” to medicines is challenging to treat those affected by it.
Klebsiella pneumonia is found across the globe but such multiple drug-resistant strains have been documented only rarely, in isolated communities.

The CMC study, however, found that 92 per cent of the infections they documented were “healthcare associated” — in other words, acquired from a hospital.

The presence of such virulent strains in hospitals can increase the risk associated with it. This is because in a hospital, the bug will be in the proximity of people with a compromised immunity. Further, the bug will be exposed to more drugs in a hospital environment, increasing its possibility of becoming resistant to newer antibiotics and medicines.

“We published the study as we wanted more hospitals to come forward and report the incidence of such strains. The only way to retard the problem is by ensuring impeccable hygiene, particularly hand hygiene, at hospitals,” says Dr Balaji Veeraraghavan. “Patients, doctors and paramedics must be thoroughly sensitised to wash their hands before and after doing any activity in hospitals.”

IndiGo to start daily direct flight to Istanbul by April

The dream cruise on the Bosphorous could soon be within your reach. Budget carrier IndiGo will start daily flights to Istanbul by this March or April using the newly acquired Airbus A321 new engine option (Neo) aircraft. The low cost carrier (LCC) expects to get “double digit” A321Neos this year and is going to start onestop flights to the UK where it is looking at Birmingham and London Stansted and Gatwick as the options. Guangzhou and Kunming in China and Moscow are also on the LCCs radar as it plans aggressive international growth to areas which are in the range of the A321Neos.

“Our Istanbul flight should start by March-end or April. Our model for these flights will be pretty much the same as our current one. The per cost of the A321 Neo is low and we will be able to offer very competitive fares,” said a senior IndiGo official.

The LCC will also expand its reach in the Gulf by adding new places to its network like Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. In Istanbul, IndiGo will fly to the new airport that will open shortly.

No Indian carrier flies to Turkey. And Turkish Airlines has only a daily direct to Delhi and Mumbai each from Istanbul. IndiGo introducing flights to Istanbul will provide the much-needed capacity enhancement on this route as the number of Indian visitors to Turkey has been increasing.

Last month, IndiGo and Turkish entered into a codeshare agreement which it said will enable both carriers to provide more flexibility of choice to their respective customers to fly on sectors between India, Istanbul and beyond.”

Bangkok-Delhi AI flight lands in Kolkata post fuel leakage

Air India’s Bangkok-Delhi flight on Saturday night with about 150 people on board had to make an emergency landing in Kolkata reportedly due to fuel leakage from the right wing. The flight, AI 335 operated on an Airbus A320 (VTEXV), landed safely in Kolkata at 10.30pm Saturday. The aircraft is said to have stopped on the taxiway and then was taxied to the terminal.

The flight took off from Bangkok just after its schedule time of 9.30 pm Saturday for the 4-hour-10-minute flight to Delhi. After flying for about half that time and on entering the Indian airspace, the technical problem was detected in the aircraft. The pilots then decided to land at Kolkata.

An AI spokesman said: “Delhi-Kolkata AI-22, which landed Kolkata at 11.30 pm flew back the passengers of Bangkok-Delhi at 1.30 am from Kolkata. The aircraft (VT-EXV) will return as ferry flight (without passengers) to Delhi.”

SpiceJet Delhi flight’s engine shuts midair, lands in Varanasi on one engine

A SpiceJet Boeing 737 Max flying from Hong Kong to Delhi on Sunday suffered one “engine flame-out” — meaning fuel flow to one engine got stopped and then it shut down — near Patna. Since twin-engine aircraft can land safely on one engine, the B737 Max did so at the nearest airport that was Varanasi.

“The engine has a ‘servo valve’ that regulates flow of fuel, developed a snag. Fuel flow to this engine got affected then and it flamed out meaning there was no power in it. Flame-out does not mean there was fire in the engine, it just stopped working,” said sources.

A SpiceJet spokesman said: “On Sunday , SpiceJet flight SG-32 Hong Kong to Delhi was diverted to Varanasi after the pilots noticed low fuel supply in number 1 engine. Pilots followed the standard operating procedure and landed safely in Varanasi. Passengers deplaned normally. On inspection, a fuel control valve ,a minor component, was found to have malfunctioned and is being replaced. The aircraft will be back in operation by evening.”

SpiceJet is learnt to have sent another aircraft to Varanasi with man and material to fly back passengers to Delhi and left the required repair material with technicians at Varanasi to inspect the engine. The aircraft took off from Hong Kong at 7.42 am on Sunday. TNN

Residents pool in money, install 28 CCTV cameras

Following the Chennai police who are on a mission to put up CCTV camera every 50 meters across the city, residents of a Chromepet locality have installed 28 such electronic eyes to watch over their streets.

Members of the VPG Residents Association, East Radha Nagar, pooled in money, with contributions ranging from ₹100 to ₹5,000 and bought and installed the 28 CCTV cameras at a cost of ₹2.40 lakh. The association, which represents around 300 households, has installed these cameras with night vision at various vantage points.

The cameras cover Venkateshwara street (both cross street and extension), Vivekananda street (both cross street and extn), Dhandapani street, Pazhaniandavar street ,and part of Ganapathypuram main road.

The area has not witnessed any major crime, and residents say they hope the CCTV cameras will act as a further deterent. They expect the cameras to inhibit the movement of anti-social elements in the locality.

For now, members of the association will monitor and retain the footage. They plan to provide evidence to the police in the event of a crime.

The CCTV installation was inaugurated by Pallavaram MLA, E Karunanidhi, who also contributed ₹20,000. Murugaiyan, secretary of the federation of associations, Pallavapuram, also participated.

Erosion of family values reason for more rapes, says HC judge

Incidents of rape have doubled in the past decade mainly because of erosion of family values, said Madras high court judge Justice N Kirubakaran, speaking at a book release function here on Sunday.

Ruing that a situation had arisen wherein events and functions had to be organised to spread awareness about rape and violence against women and children, Justice Kirubakaran said domestic unrest was the root cause of many social evils.

The judge said the joint family system offered a mix of all human feelings and experiences and prepared youngsters for challenges in open society. A family busy with machines and social media platforms deprived children of fundamental values, he said.

Touching upon issues ranging from domestic violence to sexual harassment, as discussed in the book authored by lawyer A P Suryaprakasam, Justice Kirubakaran pointed out that involvement of women in crimes against women, particularly issues involving dowry, was rampant.

“I’m pained when women battling domestic issues tell me that the parents of their husband were the problem. Violence against women and children have gone up mainly because we lack love, affection and supervision of elders in families,” he said.

Instances of domestic and sexual ha rassment reflected personality disorders and psychological disorders, he said, adding that though India had the dubious distinction of having the maximum number of persons with psychological disorders, the nation did not have enough counsellors and psychiatrists.

“Only by making offenders suffer the pain through due process of law, can we deter such people from targeting children and women,” said Justice Kirubakaran. Criticising the state liquor policy, he said many families had been ruined by free availability of alcohol.

Earlier, Justice (retd) K N Basha said he would get outraged at news of sexual harassment of children by people trusted by them, like teachers and relatives. Senior Congress leader and seasoned lawmaker Peter Alphonse said the functioning of the democracy was revolving around judiciary. “Judicial activism is an accepted reality now, and its role in moderating democratic institutions can’t be undermined,” he said.

இரண்டு வருடங்களுக்கு முன்பு முதல் தடவையாக வேட்டி கட்டியபோது கூச்சமாக இருந்ததால், ஜீன்ஸ் பேண்ட் போட்டு அதன் மேல் வேட்டி கட்டியவர் அன்சார். இப்போது, “எத்தனை ஆடைகள் வந்தாலும் வேட்டிக்கு நிகர் வேட்டி மட்டுமே” என வேட்டிக்கு அமோக வரவேற்பு கொடுக்கிறார். ஏனென்றால் வேட்டி கட்டிக்கொண்டு வெளியே செல்லும்போது மனதில் ஒரு விதமான தன்னம்பிக்கை உணர்வு வருகிறதாம். “குறிப்பாகப் பெண்களின் பார்வையும் என் மீது சாயும்” என வெட்கத்தொடு சொல்லும் அன்சாரை அவருடைய நண்பர் யாசின் “மச்சி வழியுதுடா” என்று கலாய்க்கிறார்.

வேட்டிக்கு மரியாதை வேண்டும்

வேட்டியைச் சரி செய்து கொண்டிருந்த யாசினிடம் வேட்டி பற்றிக் கேட்டவுடன் “வணக்கம் மக்களே” என அரசியல்வாதி தொனியில் ஆரம்பித்தார். “நான் ஓட்டல் மேனேஜ்மெண்ட் படிக்கிறேன். சில திருமணங்களுக்கு உணவு உபசரிப்பு பயிற்சிக்காகச் செல்கிறேன். அங்கே வட மாநிலத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர்கள் பலர் தங்களின் ஷெர்வானியைவிட வேட்டி சட்டையை விரும்பி உடுத்துவதை பார்த்திருக்கிறேன்.

ஆக இன்றைய ஆண்களிடம் வேட்டி விழிப்புணர்வு அதிக மாகவே இருக்கிறது” எனச் சொல்லும் யாசின் இன்னும் பல விஷயங்களை அடுக்கினார். “சில மாதங்களுக்கு முன்பு உயர் நீதிமன்ற முன்னாள் நீதிபதி கிளப்பில் வெளியேற்றப்பட்ட செய்தியை கேட்டபோது பெரியவர்களைவிட இளைஞர் களான நாங்கள்தான் அதிகமாகக் கொந்தளித்தோம். ஃபேஸ்புக், டிவிட்டர், வாட்ஸ் அப் என எங்களுடைய எதிர்ப்பைத் தெரிவித்தோம்” என்று தன்மானச் சிங்கமாகக் கர்ஜிக்கிறார்.

வேட்டியை டிரெண்டாக்குவேன்!

நரேன் தீவிர அஜித் ரசிகர். “வீரம் படம் ரிலீசப்ப தல ரசிகர்கள் அனைவரும் வேட்டி கட்டுனாங்க. அதுவும் என்னைப் போன்ற இளைஞர்களை வேட்டி பக்கமாக இழுத்தது எனச் சொல்லலாம்” என்கிறார். வேட்டி சட்டையோடு எடுத்த செல்ஃபி போட்டோவை ஃபேஸ் புக்கில் நண்பர்களுக்குப் பகிர்ந்துகொண்டிருந்த திருமணி பத்து வயதிலிருந்தே வேட்டி கட்டுகிறாராம். “நான் சிறு வயதில் பார்த்துப் பிரமித்த எங்க கிராமத்துப் பெரியவர்தான் எனக்கு ரோல்மாடல்” என்கிறார் நெகிழ்வுடன்.

வேட்டி தினத்துக்காக நான்கு வேட்டிகளை வாங்கிய சஞ்சீவ் “எனக்கு வேட்டி கட்டுவது கொஞ்சம் கூச்சமாக இருக்கும். காரணம் எப்படா கழன்று விழுமோன்னு பயமாகவே இருக்கும். அதனால் உள்ளே பெல்ட்டு போட்டுத்தான் வேட்டி கட்டுவேன். இருந்தாலும் வேட்டி கட்டி வெளியே செல்லும்போது நம்மையும் நாலு பேர் பாக்குறாங்களே என்று மனதுக்குள் ஒரு கம்பீரம் தானாக வரும்” என்கிறார். இவர் பொங்கல் பண்டிகைக்கும் வேட்டியை மட்டுமே கட்ட வேண்டும் என்று சபதம் எடுத்துள்ளாராம். சபதம் நிறைவேற வாழ்த்துகள்.

இந்திய ரயில்வே, தனது பயணங்களை அதிகப் பாதுகாப்பானதாக மாற்ற ஏராளமான முயற்சிகளை முன்னெடுத்து வருகிறது. முன்னதாக 139 என்ற எண்ணை அழைத்து ரயில் எங்கே வந்துகொண்டிருக்கிறது என்ற தகவலைப் பயணிகள் பெற்றுக்கொண்டிருந்தனர். ஆனால் ஒரே எண்ணை, ஒரே நேரத்தில் ஏராளமானோர் அழைத்ததால், சர்வர் பிரச்சினை ஏற்பட்டு 139-ஐ உடனடியாகத் தொடர்பு கொள்ள முடியாத நிலை இருந்தது.

மதுரையில் இருந்து ஏறக்குறைய 42 ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகு சென்னைக்கு ‘தேஜஸ்’ என்கிற அதிவேக ரயில் விரைவில் இயக்கப்பட உள்ளது. இதன் மூலம் சுமார் 7 மணி நேரத்தில் சென்னையை சென்றடையலாம் என அதிகாரிகள் தெரிவித்தனர்.

தென்மாவட்டங்களில் இருந்து மதுரை வழியாக சென்னைக்கு தற்போது 20-க்கும் மேற்பட்ட ரயில்கள் இயக்கப்படுகின்றன. மதுரையில் இருந்து தினமும் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான பயணிகள் சென்னைக்கு ரயில் மூலம் செல்கின்றனர்.

மதுரையில் இருந்து சென்னைக்கு முதன் முதலாக 1977-ம் ஆண்டு பகல் நேரத்தில் வைகை எக்ஸ்பிரஸ் ரயில் இயக்கப்பட்டது. அதே சமயம் பல ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு இரவு நேரத்தில் பாண்டியன் எக்ஸ்பிரஸ் ரயில் இயக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது.

இருப்பினும் சென்னை செல்லும் ரயில்களில் டிக்கெட் கிடைக்காமல் காத்திருக்கும் பயணிகள் எண்ணிக்கை அதிகரித்து வருகிறது. இதனால் வடமாநிலங்களைப் போன்று மதுரையில் இருந்து சென்னைக்கு பகல் நேர சூப்பர் பாஸ்ட் எக்ஸ்பிரஸ் ஒன்று இயக்க வேண்டும் என தென்னக ரயில்வே பயணிகள் நலச் சங்கம், தமிழ்நாடு தொழில் வர்த்தக சங்கம் மற்றும் பல்வேறு அமைப்பினர், எம்பிக்கள் மத்திய ரயில்வே அமைச்சகத்துக்கு கோரிக்கை வைத்தனர்.

பிரதமர் தொடங்கி வைப்பார்இதை ஏற்று மதுரை- சென்னைக்கு பகல் நேர ‘தேஜஸ்’ அதி விரைவு ரயிலை தினமும் இயக்க மத்திய ரயில்வே அமைச்சகம் நடவடிக்கை எடுத்துள்ளது. இந்த ரயிலின் முதல் பயணத்தை பிரதமர் மோடி மதுரையில் இருந்து தொடங்கி வைக்க உள்ளார். மதுரையில் எய்ம்ஸ் மருத்துவமனைக்கான அடிக்கல் நாட்டு விழா ஜன.27-ல் நடைபெற உள்ளது. அப்போது பிரதமர் மோடி இந்த ரயிலை கொடியசைத்து தொடக்கி வைக்க திட்டமிட்டிருப்பதாக மதுரை ரயில்வே கோட்ட அதிகாரிகள் தெரிவித்தனர்.

இந்த ரயிலில் மொத்தம் 10 பெட்டிகள் இணைக்கப்படுகின்றன. ரயில் என்ஜினுக்கு அருகிலும், பின் பகுதியிலும் கார்டுக்கு 2 பெட்டிகள் ஒதுக்கப்படுகின்றன. முதல் 4 எக்ஸ்கியூடிவ் பெட்டிகள். சொகுசு வசதிகள்விஐபிக்கள், முக்கிய அதிகாரிகள் பயணிக்கும் வகையில் இது வடிவமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. மீதம் உள்ள 4 பெட்டிகளில் சாதாரண மக்கள் பயணிக்கும் வகையில் இருக்கும். ஒவ்வொரு பெட்டியிலும் தலா 48 பேர் வரை பயணம் செய்யலாம். தரமான கேட்டரிங் வசதியும், தானியங்கி கதவுகளும், தொலைக்காட்சியும் பொருத்தப்பட்டுள்ளன.

வியாழக்கிழமை சேவையில்லைஇதுகுறித்து தென்னக ரயில்வே பயணிகள் சங்க பொதுச் செயலர் கே. பத்மநாபன் கூறியதாவது:கோவா, ராஜஸ்தானில் ‘தேஜஸ்’ அதிக வேக ரயில்கள் ஏற்கெனவே ஓடுகின்றன. இதுபோன்ற ரயிலை மதுரை-சென்னை இடையே இயக்குவதற்குப் பல முறை கோரிக்கை வைத்தோம். தற்போது அதற்கு ஒப்புதல் கிடைத்துள்ளது.

இந்த ரயில் சென்னையில் இருந்து காலை 6.30 மணிக்குப் புறப்பட்டு, பிற்பகல் 1.30 மணிக்கு மதுரை சென்றடையும். மதுரையில் இருந்து பிற்பகல் 2.30 மணிக்கு கிளம்பி இரவு 9.30 மணிக்கு சென்னை சென்றடையும். வியாழக்கிழமை மட்டும் ரயில் சேவை இருக்காது. சுமார் 7 மணி நேரத்தில் சென்னை-மதுரை இடையே இயக்கத் திட்டமிட்டுள்ளதால் திருச்சி, விழுப்புரம் ரயில் நிலையங்களில் மட்டும் இந்த ரயில் நிறுத்தப்படும் என எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.

புதிய ரயில் மூலம் பாண்டியன் மற்றும் தென்மாவட்டங்களில் இருந்து செல்லும் பிற எக்ஸ்பிரஸ் ரயில்களிலும் பயணிகள் கூட்டம் குறையும் என்றார்.

ரயில்வே அதிகாரி ஒருவர் கூறும்போது, ‘‘தேஜஸ் ரயிலை இயக்க கால அட்டவணை தயாரிக்கப்படுகிறது. கட்டண விவரம், ரயிலில் உள்ள வசதி, சலுகை விவரம் விரைவில் தெரியவரும். அதுகுறித்து ஆன்லைனில் வெளியிடப்படும். புதிய ரயிலை மதுரை வரும் பிரதமர் தொடங்கி வைக்கும் வகையில் திட்டமிடப்படுகிறது’’ என்றார்.

நடத்துனர் குழந்தையின் முன்னே தாயை தாக்கும் காணொளி காட்சி

சிவகங்கை மாவட்டம் இளையான்குடியில் பேருந்து நிலையத்தில் 3 வயது குழந்தையின் கண்முன்னே அரசுப்பேருந்து நடத்துனர் பெண் பயணியை தாக்கும் காணொளி வைரலாகி வருகிறது.

இன்று காலைமுதல் ஒரு காணொளி வாட்ஸ் அப்பில் வைரலாகி வருகிறது. அதில் பேருந்து நிலையம் ஒன்றில் சுற்றிலும் பயணிகள் வேடிக்கைப்பார்க்க, பேருந்தைவிட்டு 3 வயது பெண் குழந்தையுடன் இறக்கப்பட்ட கிராமத்துப் பெண் பயணி ஒருவர் நடத்துனருடன் வாக்குவாதத்தில் ஈடுபடுகிறார். பதிலுக்கு நடத்துனர் அவரை மிரட்டும் தொனியில் திட்டுகிறார்.

இதைப்பார்த்து பயந்துப்போன பெண் பயணியின் குழந்தை பயத்துடன் தாயின் கையைப்பிடித்து வாம்மா போகலாம் என இழுக்கிறது. பெண் பயணி நடத்துனருடன் வாக்குவாதத்தில் ஈடுபட்ட அந்த நேரம் திடீரென நடத்துனர் அந்த பெண் பயணியை கன்னத்தில் அறைகிறார்.

இதில் அவர் கீழே விழ குழந்தை பயந்துபோய் வீரிட்டு அழுகிறது. பயணிகள் அதிர்ச்சியுடன் பார்க்க அதைப்பற்றி கவலைப்படாத நடத்துனர் மீண்டும் மீண்டும் அந்தப் பெண்ணைத்தாக்க இதைப்பார்த்து பொறுக்க முடியாத ஆண் பயணி ஒருவர் இடையில் புகுந்து நடத்துனரை தள்ளிவிட்டு அடிக்கப்போகிறார்.

ஆனால் இதைப்பற்றி கவலைப்படாத அந்த நடத்துனர் தனது வீரத்தை காட்டும் வகையில் அந்தப்பெண்ணை எட்டி உதைக்கிறார். இதைப்பார்த்து அங்குள்ள பொதுமக்கள் அதிர்ச்சியில் உறைந்து நிற்கின்றனர். யாரும் அவர்களை தடுக்க வரவில்லை. அடிவாங்கிய அந்தப்பெண் பயணி தனது குழந்தையை இழுத்துக்கொண்டு அங்கிருந்து நகர நடத்துனர் அவரை மிரட்டுகிறார்.

அப்போது அங்குள்ளவர்கள் நடத்துனரை திட்டுகின்றனர். பொம்பளையைபோய் அடிக்கிறாயே என ஒருவர் திட்ட அங்குள்ள பெண்கள் நீங்கள் இத்தனைபேர் ஆண்கள் இருக்கிறீர்கள் ஒருத்தன் பொம்பளையைப்போட்டு இந்த அடி அடிக்கிறான் கேட்கிறீர்களா என திட்டுகிறார். இவ்வளவுக்கும் பின்னணியில் அந்தப்பெண்ணின் குழந்தையின் அழுகுரல் கேட்டுக்கொண்டே இருக்கிறது.

இதை அங்குள்ள ஒருவர் செல்போனில் பதிவு செய்துள்ளார். அது தற்போது வாட்ஸ் அப்பில் வைரலாகி வருகிறது. சம்பவம் நடந்த இடம் சிவகங்கை மாவட்டம் இளையான்குடியில் உள்ள அரசுப்பேருந்து நிலையம் என்பதும் அந்த பெண் பயணியின் பெயர் லட்சுமி என்பதும், அவரை தாக்கிய நடத்துனர் பெயர் பூமிநாதன் என்பதும் தெரியவந்துள்ளது. பேருந்தில் கும்பகோணம் பணிமனை என போட்டுள்ளது.

தற்போது இந்த காணொளி வலைதளங்களில் வைரலாகி வருகிறது, இதுகுறித்து செய்தி அறிந்த மாநில மகளிர் ஆணையம் இதுகுறித்து மாவட்டத்திலுள்ள மகளிர் ஆணையத்திடம் தகவல் கேட்டுள்ளது.

சென்னை காவல்துறையின் மத்திய குற்றப்பிரிவின் கீழ் இயங்கிவரும் வங்கி மோசடி குற்றங்களை விசாரிக்கும் பிரிவில் கடந்த சில நாட்களாக பெறப்படும் டெபிட் மற்றும் கிரெடிட் கார்டுகள் தொடர்பான புகார்களை ஆய்வு செய்ததில் பெரும்பான்மையான புகார்தாரர்கள் ஏதாவது ஒரு சந்தர்ப்பத்தில் பெருங்குடியில் உள்ள Sp InfoTech (Global Infocity Park) என்ற ஐடி கம்பெனி இயங்கிவரும் இடத்தில் உள்ள ஜூஸ் ஐடி என்ற கடையில் கார்டுகளை பயன்படுத்தியுள்ளதை நீண்ட ஆய்வுக்குப் பின் போலீஸார் கண்டுபிடித்தனர்.

மத்திய குற்றப்பிரிவு இணை ஆணையர் பாலகிருஷ்ணன் இதுகுறித்து தீவிரமாக விசாரிக்க உத்தரவிட்டதன்பேரில் தனிப்படை அமைத்து விசாரணை நடந்தது. அதன் அடிப்படையில் கூடுதல் துணை ஆணையர் சரவணக்குமார் தலைமையில் ஒரு தனிப்படை அமைத்து குற்றம் நடக்கும் இடமான பெருங்குடியிலுள்ள எஸ்.பி.இன்போடெக் வளாகத்தில் கண்காணித்து வந்தனர்.

அங்குள்ள ஜூஸ் ஐடி என்ற கடையில் விசாரண நடத்தியபோது அங்கு வாடிக்கையாளர்களிடம் பணம் வாங்குவதில்லை என்றும், வாடிக்கையாளர்கள் டெபிட் அல்லது கிரெடிட் மு்லம் மட்டுமே பணம் செலுத்தமுடியும் என்று அந்தக் கடையில் வேலை செய்யும் வட இந்தியர்கள் அங்கு வரும் வாடிக்கையாளர்களிடம் கூறியுள்ளனர். இதை நம்பிய வாடிக்கையாளர்கள் தங்களது டெபிட் அல்லது கிரெடிட் கார்டு மூலம் பணம் செலுத்தியுள்ளனர்.

இதைப்பயன்படுத்தி அவ்வாறு கார்டு முலம் பணம் செலுத்துபவர்களின் கார்டுகளை தாங்கள் பிரத்தியோகமாக வாங்கி வைத்திருக்கும் ஸ்கிம்மர் என்ற கருவி மூலம் கார்டுகளின் அனைத்து டேட்டாக்களையும் திருடி உள்ளனர். கார்டுகளை வாடிக்கையாளர் தரும்போதே அவர்கள் பதிவு செய்யும் ரகசிய பின் நம்பரையும் அவர்கள் அறியாமல் சேகரித்துள்ளனர்.

அவ்வாறு சேகரிக்கும் விபரங்களை செல்போன் மற்றும் லேப்டாப்பில் சேமித்து வைத்துள்ளனர் என்பது தெரியவந்தது,

உடனடியாக தனிப்படை புலன் விசாரணை அதிகாரிகள் ஆய்வாளர்கள் மீனாப்பிரியா, பிரியா உதவி ஆய்வாளர்கள் மோகன் வின்சென்ட் துரைராஜ், மற்றும் காவலர்கள் உதவியுடன் மேற்கண்ட குற்றச் செயல்களில் ஈடுபட்ட வட மாநிலத்தைச் சேர்ந்த 9 பேரை கைது செய்தனர்.

அவர்களிடம் நடத்தப்பட்ட விசாரணையில் அவர்கள் பெயர், 1.ராகுல் சி 2.குந்தன் சி, 3.சுரேஷ்குமார், 4.ராகுல் குமார், 5.சுதிர், 6. பிரகாஷ்குமார், 7. குந்தன் குமார், 8.ராம்பீர் குமார், 9.விபின் குமார் ஆகிய 9 பேரை கைது செய்து அவர்களிடமிருந்து லேப்டாப், ஸ்கிம்மர் கருவி, மொபைல் போன், டெபிட் கார்டுகள், இடிசி கருவிகள் மற்றும் ரூ.1.48 லட்சம் ரொக்கப்பணத்தை கைப்பற்றினர். விசாரணைக்குப்பின் குற்றவாளிகளை ஆலந்தூர் குற்றவியல் நடுவர் நீதிமன்றத்தில் ஆஜர்படுத்தி புழல் மத்திய சிறையில் அடைத்தனர்.

கிரெடிட், டெபிட் கார்டுகளை பயன்படுத்தி பரிவர்த்தனை செய்யும் பொதுமக்கள் அவ்வாறு நடக்கும் பரிவர்த்தனையை மற்ற கருவிகளில் மேற்படி கார்டுகளை பொருத்துகிறார்களா? என்று உன்னிப்பாக கவனிக்க வேண்டும். தங்கள் கண்முன்னர் கார்டுகளை ஸ்வைப் செய்ய அனுமதிக்க வேண்டும்.

சென்னை ராணி மேரி மகளிர் கல்லூரியில் நடைபெற்ற விழாவொன்றில் இளையராஜா கலந்துகொண்டார். அப்போது அவர், இன்று கம்போஸர்களே கிடையாது என்று பேசியது தொடர்பாக சர்ச்சையும் குழப்பமும் எழுந்துள்ளன. மற்ற இசையமைப்பாளர்கள் குறித்து இளையராஜா இப்படிப் பேசலாமா என்று ஒருதரப்பும் இளையராஜா அதுபோல பேசவில்லை. திரித்துக் கூறுகிறார்கள் என்று இன்னொரு தரப்பும் இளையராஜா பேசியது குறித்து சமூகவலைத்தளங்களில் விவாதித்துவருகிறார்கள். இளையராஜாவின் இந்தப் பேச்சுக்கு அவரது சகோதரர் கங்கை அமரன் ட்விட்டரில் கூறியதாவது: மன்னிக்கவும். நானெல்லாம் மறுபடியும் இசையமைக்க வரமுடியாது என்று கிண்டலுடன் பதில் அளித்துள்ளார்.

உத்தரப்பிரதேச மாநிலத்தில் 2015ம் ஆண்டு துவக்கப் பள்ளி ஆசிரியர்களுக்கான தேர்வில் முதல் இடத்தைப் பிடித்து தேர்ச்சி பெற்றவர்தான் மேற்கண்ட அந்த மகத்தான ஆசிரியர்.

அதிவேகம் மற்றும் நவீன வசதிகளுடன் கூடிய "தேஜஸ்' ரயில் சோதனை ஓட்டம் சனிக்கிழமை வெற்றிகரமாக நடத்தப்பட்டது. சோதனை ஓட்டத்தின்போது, இந்த ரயில் மணிக்கு 110 கி.மீ. வேகத்தில் இயக்கப்பட்டது.

சேலம் மாவட்டத்தில் சூரமங்கலம், அஸ்தம்பட்டி, அம்மாபேட்டை, தாதகாப்பட்டி, எடப்பாடி, இளம்பிள்ளை, மேட்டூர், ஜலகண்டாபுரம், ஆத்தூர், தம்மம்பட்டி, ஆட்டையாம்பட்டி ஆகிய 11 இடங்களில் உழவர் சந்தைகள் செயல்பட்டு வருகின்றன. இங்கு காய்கறிகளின் வரத்திற்கு ஏற்ப விலை குறைந்தும், உயர்ந்தும் விற்பனை செய்யப்பட்டு வருகிறது.

இந்த சந்தைகளில் நேற்று மார்கழி மாத அமாவாசையையொட்டி வழக்கத்தை விட காய்கறிகள் விற்பனை அதிகமாக நடைபெற்றது. காய்கறிகளை வாங்க பொதுமக்கள் அதிகளவில் வந்திருந்தனர். சூரமங்கலம், தாதகாப்பட்டி, அஸ்தம்பட்டி, அம்மாபேட்டை ஆகிய உழவர் சந்தைகளில் 609 விவசாயிகள் தாங்கள் விளைவித்த காய்கறிகளை கொண்டு வந்தனர். இந்த காய்கறிகள் ரூ.49 லட்சத்து 10 ஆயிரத்து 523-க்கு விற்பனையாகி உள்ளது.

இதேபோல் ஆத்தூர், எடப்பாடி, இளம்பிள்ளை, மேட்டூர், ஜலகண்டாபுரம், தம்மம்பட்டி, ஆட்டையாம்பட்டி ஆகிய உழவர் சந்தைகளில் 576 விவசாயிகள் காய்கறிகளை கொண்டு வந்தனர். ரூ.35 லட்சத்து 11 ஆயிரத்து 32-க்கு விற்பனையாகி உள்ளது. மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள மொத்தம் 11 உழவர் சந்தைகளிலும் நேற்று 262 டன் காய்கறிகள் ரூ.84 லட்சத்து 21 ஆயிரத்து 555-க்கு விற்பனையாகி உள்ளது. 61 ஆயிரத்து 127 நுகர்வோர்கள் உழவர் சந்தைக்கு வந்து காய்கறிகளை வாங்கி சென்றுள்ளனர் என உழவர்சந்தை அதிகாரிகள் தெரிவித்தனர்.

Gangadhar Meher University dispenses with gown and cap for convocation

SAMBALPUR: The graduating students of the Gangadhar Meher University (GMU) will not wear gowns and caps during the first convocation of the institution, to be held on Saturday.
The authorities of the institution have decided that while male students will attend the convocation wearing white pants, white shirt and Sambalpuri plaid, female students will wear cream saree and the plaid. The plaids will be provided by the institution; the students will have to return them after the programme.

Addressing the media here on Wednesday, vice-chancellor Atanu Pati said the gowns and caps were not suitable for the climate of Odisha. “Hence, we decided to do away with the robes.”

Deputy registrar U C Pati said, “The other objective behind taking the decision is the promotion of Sambalpuri handloom. Wearing of the Sambalpuri plaids during the convocation will help encourage weavers.”

The decision of the authorities has evoked a mixed response from the students. “I welcome the decision to use Sambalpuri plaid during the convocation. This will give the audience a glimpse of the tradition of western Odisha,” said a graduating student, Ipsita Patnaik.

Another student, under the condition of anonymity, said, “Ever since I joined institution, I had dreamt of wearing a robe with a cap on the final day of university. The authorities’ decision ruined my plans.”

Governor Ganeshi Lal will preside over the convocation. Additional principal secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pramod Kumar Mishra, has been invited to deliver the first convocation address of the institution. As many as 103 university medals will be given to the students at the ceremony.

Medical student in Rajasthan accuses professor of molestation

A first year MBBS student of Bharatpur Medical College on Thursday accused an assistant professor of sexually harassing her. The professor has denied the allegation.

In her complaint to the principal of the college, the 21-year-old student from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, said that assistant professor Dr Kishori Lal Meena called her to his faculty room over phone on January 2. He showed her some charts and when she asked for permission to leave, he molested her, the complaint said.

Dr Ajay Kukreja, principal of medical college, said a first year student of MBBS has filed a written complaint against an assistant professor accusing him of molesting her.

“There is a Gender Harassment Committee in the college, which has been asked to start investigation. The seven-member committee will complete probe within 24 hours and submit a report,” Kukreja said.

Additional district magistrate of city, Omprakash Charan, visited the college on instructions of district collector Dr Arushi Malik. He told the complainant student’s parents to register a complaint with the police.

Women students of the medical college staged a protest demanding legal action against the assistant professor.

Parents of the student also reached the college at Rampura on Jaipur-Agra National Highway under Sewar police station limits and demanded strict action against the professor.

The accused assistant professor, Dr Kishori Lal Meena, said all allegations by the student were false. He said the student was absent for internal exams and she sought his help with her attendance to pass exams. He said a peon was present in his office when the student came to meet him.

Meena lives within the campus with his wife Dr Kavita Yadav who is also assistant professor in the same college. Dr Yadav said the student sent a message on her husband’s mobile at 1.30 am on January 1 which showed her “wrong intention”.
