10 Sabarimala pilgrims from Telangana killed in road mishap

Pudukkottai: In a terrible road tragedy, at least ten lord Ayyappa devotees from Telangana were killed and five others were injured when a van in which they were traveling collided head-on with a truck near Thirumayam near Pudukkottai on Sunday.

Police said the occupants of the van hailing from Medak district in Telangana were proceeding towards Pudukkottai from Karaikudi en route to Sabarimala in neighbouring Kerala when the mishap occurred. The truck had allegedly occupied the right side of the narrow road leading to the collision.


The deceased were identified as Nagaraj, Mahesh, Kumar, Shyam, Praveen, Krishna , Shayee, Anjaneyalu ,Suresh and the van driver (name could not be immediately ascertained), police sources told DC over phone. All the injured were admitted to Government medical college hospital here
