Angiogram cath lab opened at Kilpauk Medical College

A new single-plane digital subtraction angiogram cathlabwasinaugurated at the cardiology department of Kilpauk Medical College (KMC) on Wednesday by C Vijaya Baskar, minister for health and family welfare department. During the inauguration, the minister announced that the lab was one among 11 such facilities sanctioned for government hospitals in the state at a cost of Rs 45.92 crore.

“More than 2,000 patients with cardiac problems have been attended to at state-run hospitals in the past six months and the treatment was done free of cost,” he said. The government plans to set up similar cath labs in Dharmapuri, Kanyakumari, Villupuram, Pudukottai, Thuthukodi and Theni districts in the coming months at , he said. TNN
