Chennai: School teacher bravely escapes kidnapping bid

Chennai: A 25 -year-old school teacher had a traumatic experience on Thursday night while getting back home from school.

An auto driver allegedly kidnapped her and sprinkled chloroform on he face. she eventually managed to escape, but in the process, she was attacked by the kidnapper. The police have filed an FIR and launched a search for the abductor.

According to the Police, Emalda( 25) a resident of Iyya Street in Chetpet works as a teacher in a reputed private school in Vepery. The incident happened on Thursday night around 8 pm outside the school.

Sources said, On Thursday night, Emalda boarded an auto outside the school and asked him to drop in her house in Chetpet. A few minutes later, she found something amiss in his behaviour and asked the man to stop the auto, When the man allegedly attacked and sprinkled chloroform in her face.

After a few minutes, Emalda regained consciousness and found she was near Porur. As the auto was taking a U-turn at a signal, the woman jumped out leaving her handbag in the auto. The driver fled the spot.

Meanwhile, Emalda on Friday lodged a complaint with the Vepery police. Police have launched a search for the man

The Kidnapper is said to be in the age group of 20 to 25 years. The entire attack happened within thirty minutes. We’re looking at CCTV images from the school and launched a hunt for the man,” said a police officer investigating the case.
