MADRAS VARSITY ASSESSES QUALITY OF 1,400 TEACHERS

In a bid to address questions on the quality of education at self-financing colleges affiliated to the University of Madras, as many as 1,400 teachers employed with these colleges were given qualification approval after assessment. They were assessed by subject experts during a ten-day session conducted by the varsity. These qualified teachers are now eligible for answer-sheet evaluation, can be part of committees to set syllabus and also eligible to become members of bodies like academic council. Qualification of around 5,000 teachers associated with these colleges is yet to be scrutinised.
