Chennai metro train service suspension extended till April 14

CHENNAI: Metro train services, which were suspended till March 31 to stop the spread of Covid-19, has now been extended till April 14.

In a release, Chennai Metro Rail Ltd said it shut services till March 31 following the chief minister’s announcement of suspension of all public transport services in Tamil Nadu to curtail the spread of Covid-19.

With the Prime Minister announcing a 21-day nationwide lockdown to control the virus spread and in addition to the directive from the chief minister, metro trains services would be closed till April 14.

“The move is aimed at encouraging the public to stay indoors and maintain social distancing, which is essential in the fight against coronavirus,” the release said.
