A suspected Covid-19 patient, 45, from Gottigere, visited seven hospitals before he was admitted to Prakirya Hospital in north Bengaluru.

On Friday night, the man developed breathing problems and was taken to a private hospital in Jayanagar, where he was refused treatment because there were no beds. From there, he was taken to Victoria Hospital where he was not admitted because of non-availability of bed. Then a few of his friends started calling hospitals for help. At 11.30pm, they approached a hospital in Jayanagar which said it was full. The family then tried calling up a hospital on Bannerghatta Road where also there were no beds. Then, they reached out to a private hospital near Kengeri which said there were no ICU beds.

The family requested that let him be checked, but none of them responded. The patient was then taken to a hospital on Bannerghatta Road where his chest x-ray was taken and he was told that he needs admission immediately. So, the family went through the BBMP control room and reached out to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases but was told there were no beds available.

The family returned home at 3am. On Saturday, the family reached out to Prakriya Hospital which admitted him. The first report found him positive for Covid-19.
