The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Under Graduate (NEET UG) 2020 scheduled for May 3 has been postponed to the last week of May. Accordingly, admit cards, which were due to be issued on Friday, will be issued after assessing the situation after April 15, the National Testing Agency (NTA) said.
The Joint Entrance Examination (Main) will also be rescheduled as the lockdown will continue till April 15.
The NTA, in a notice issued by NTA director general Vineet Joshi, said NEET UG 2020 “is proposed to be held in the last week of May 2020. Exact date will be announced later after assessing the situation”.
With remaining CBSE, NIOS and CISCE Board exams being postponed till after March 21, competitive exams to be conducted thereafter will also be affected. After announcement of the 21-day lockdown across the country on March 24, the JEE (Main) exam scheduled in the first and second week of April too stands postponed. A senior government official said, “The new dates are likely to be announced only after the lockdown period is over and subsequent review of the Covid-19 outbreak.” According to sources, for JEE (Main), NTA will probably have to wait till school education boards like CBSE announce their new dates for the few exams that could not conducted due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
