Central team lauds work of TS Police

A five member Inter Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) which is on three day visit to the State to assess the Covid-19 situation met the top officials of Telangana Police here on Sunday afternoon.
Director General of Police, M Mahender Reddy explained to them about the steps taken by the State police to ensure total lockdown and other initiatives.
The IMCT members include Additional Secretary, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Arun Baroka, senior Public Health Specialist, Dr Chandrashekhar Gedam, NIN Director, Dr R Hemalatha, Director, Consumer Affairs, S S Thakur and NIDM Associate Professor Shekhar Chaturvedi.
Presentation
The DGP gave a detailed presentation on the efforts and initiatives of the Telangana police to control the Covid-19 pandemic. He told them about various duties being done by the police during the lockdown and explained about setting up of check posts, special patrolling parties and about seizing over one lakh vehicles for violations during the lockdown period.
Security measures at hospitals where Covid-19 positive cases were undergoing treatment and suspects are under quarantine too were explained apart from measures taken up in tracing the secondary cases and shifting them to hospitals.
The team was also briefed about the relief measures taken up by the police like shifting of persons during emergencies to the hospitals and regular treatment like health check up for pregnant women, dialysis patients etc.
The central team appreciated the steps being taken up by the State police in fighting the Covid-19.
