Runaway COVID-19 patient brought back

He was picked up from Pulianthope

A 58-year- old patient who tested positive for COVID-19 went missing from the special ward at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH).

The police personnel of the Flower Bazaar station traced him to his house at Pulianthope and brought him back.

The resident of Sivarajapuram near Pulianthope was admitted to the special ward on the fifth floor of RGGGH after he tested positive on April 23.

‘He walked home’

On Monday evening, he stepped out of the hospital and reached his house by foot. At 9 p.m, hospital staff found that he was missing from the ward and reported the matter to the police.

The police personnel traced him in his house and brought back to the hospital at 9.30 p.m.

Hospital sources said the patient had psychiatric illness.
