Circulation of Fake Info via WhatsApp: RGUHS issues clarification, files complaint

Bengaluru: Through a recent notice, the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) has informed about its stance over the fabricated circular which is being circulated via WhatsApp saying that varsity has declared holidays for 2 months in view of the ongoing coronavirus epidemic. Taking strict action against the said spoofed information issued in the name of Registrar, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, the varsity has written to Police Inspector, Thilaknagar Police Station, complaining about the unscrupulous element.

The complaint says that it has come to the notice of the varsity authorities that a fake Circular is being circulated through WhatsApp in the name of Registrar, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka declaring holidays for colleges from 01.04.2020 to 31.05.2020 as a precautionary measure to prevent spreading of COVID-19.

The University has not issued any such circular bearing No. RGU/GEN/CIR/2019-20, Dated 31-03-2020 and is fake and forged. 
 
The fake notice states: "As per the orders of Gov. of Karnataka cited under reference above, holidays are declared for colleges affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences for two months starting from 01-04-2020 to 31-05-2020 as a precautionary measure to prevent the spreading of COVID 19. The students are strictly advised to avoid public-social gatherings and avoid travel as a precautionary measure. The holidays will not be applicable to Faculty and office staff of colleges. Interns and Postgraduate students in all faculties such as Medical, Dental, Ayush, etc. Interns and Postgraduate students of Nursing and Allied Health Courses working in hospitals The head of Institutions shall ensure that necessary preventive facilities are provided with posting the faculty, interns and postgraduate students for hospital duty. However, University examinations will be rescheduled." 
 
The aforementioned fabricated notice is apparently being circulated over Whatsapp. RGUHS has also clarified that no Such Circular has been issued by the University and the University will follow the directions given by Govt. Of Karnataka and Govt. of India. Hence, the varsity has hereby requested to take necessary action against the culprits by registering a FIR.
