Six lakh students will write II PU paper today

Bengaluru: Over 5.9 lakh II PU students in Karnataka will appear for their pending English paper on Thursday. The exam was originally scheduled for March 23, but was postponed because of the pandemic.
On Thursday, the exam will be held at 1,016 test centres from 10.15am to 1.30pm. Over 18,520 students have been allotted new test centres near their current location. If a student has not been alerted about test centre change despite a request, they can report at the original hall.
Nearly 1,890 students from outside Karnataka will also appear for the exam. Of the 5.9 lakh students, 5.4 lakh are fresh candidates. The break-ups for science, commerce and arts streams are: 1.8 lakh, 2.3 lakh and 1.7 lakh, respectively.
Government buses will transport students to their centres free of cost. Social distancing will be followed at all centres, and everyone, students and examiners, must undergo thermal screening and wear a mask. All classrooms have been sanitised.
Additional staff has been called to monitor health and distancing norms. Mobile phones and other electronic devices are banned. The 200-metre area around test centres will be marked as a restricted zone.
