Bike rendezvous to celebrate Singapore’s bicentennial year

Thanjavur: To celebrate the bicentennial (200 years of Singapore) and make it known to the world, three persons have been travelling on three high tech motor bikes.

The three, S. Balachandran (56), P. Panneerselvam (53) and Arunagiri (52) came to Thanjavur Big temple on their bikes on Sunday.

They told presspersons that to celebrate the bicentennial of Singapore they undertook the journey on March 26 from Singapore. They travelled via Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Tibet, Nepal and entered India.

“We travelled on road during most part of our journey but at some places took the bikes on boats. We travelled 400-km per day and reached India now. We will go to Velankanni in Nagapattinam district and later reach Chennai. From there we will fly back to Singapore” they said.

About the vehicles upon which they travelled, they said that it is a high tech two-wheeler of 1800 CC capacity. “It is like a luxury car with all facilities like GPRS, google maps, Television, Radio and also air conditioner facility. We would have covered 13,000-km when we complete our journey. In Indian price, one bike costs `28 lakh,” they said.
